Prime Rib - House Cut
Travis B.

Field's Prime Rib House Cut: Field's at the Wilderness is honestly my favorite steakhouse. I know, I know, the Dells has a good steakhouse? Not only is the Dells the waterpark capital of the world, but they have a GREAT steakhouse. Field's has been serving locals and vacationers alike since it opened at the Wilderness Resort back in 2000. I've dined there six times dating back to 2010 and every time was a phenomenal experience. The contemporary décor is tasteful and pleasing to the eye, while the food is delicious and satisfying. The exterior even boasts a gorgeous waterfall that can be spotted from the road. I enjoyed it so much on my visit last summer that I went with the slow roasted prime rib again. I usually order mine medium, but was told it comes medium rare, which was fine. What ended up being a game changer with this steak is that I ordered it "Field's Style". Field's Style is topping the steak with baked parmesan cheese along with fresh mushrooms that had been sautéed in garlic butter. My steak was practically drowning in mushrooms (and I'm not complaining). The prime rib was rich, juicy, tender, and had a pleasantly buttery taste with hints of garlic thanks to the sautéed mushrooms. This is one of the best steaks I've ever had and now it's a struggle going to steak houses that don't offer the option of adding cheese. Whether you stay at the Wilderness Resort or not, make sure to stop by Field's. Doughboy approved Doughboy_Food_Reviews

For the birthday boy.

We have been waiting for an opportunifty to dine at Fields for a while now. We have dined at several restaurants in The Dells area over the years and most of them just didn't live up to the hype. Fields at the Wilderness was different - to our delight. This was a birthday dinner and we wanted it to be special. The restaurant and bar are just beautiful and very spacious. It was a Thursday on the 'off season' so it wasn't very busy but there were quite a few filled tables scattered about. The staff there went above and beyond to make it a 5 star experience. And then there's the food. Top notch all the way. My husband had beef tenderloin and spicy shrimp. The steak was prepared to perfection and the shrimp were delicious with just a bit of heat in the sauce. I had the lamb chops with a cranberry reduction and Brussels sprouts. If I were a cat I would have been purring. Yes, it was that good! They remembered my husbands birthday and presented a birthday sundae with 2 spoons. Although we were too full for dessert we 'managed' to devour a good portion of it. We will be returning for sure. There is more on the menu to explore but it may be difficult to pass up those lamb chops next time!

Nothing was bad, but in the same sense, nothing was really good. This is a nice place, with fine dining prices, so I expected better. Ribs fell off the bone, the bbq sauce was more of orange in color and was not an intense flavor. I would have enjoyed it to be a bit smokier. The rack was meaty but thinner than most. Crab cake was a good size, definitely sharable (it is an appetizer). I liked the sauce that was served with it, went well with the cake, and gave it more flavor. The Dells is a tourist area, so this place gets lots of business because of its location in the Wilderness Complex. Not sure if it's worth the touristy pricing however. But... when in the Dells, it kind of is expected!

Second time visiting Fields. Once was five years ago and I remember it being very good. This time around I would say it's one of the best places I've eaten in recent memory. The lobster bisque was outrageously good. I wish I had some everyday. Wife and I both had the prime rib. Both were excellent. The staff were beyond attentive and super friendly. My 2 young daughter both ordered off of the kids menu and they were pleased as well. Chicken tenders and ribs. They looked good. Will definitely return here if we are back in town. Excellent!!!

The tacos were flavorful but on the smaller side, so plan to order a few if you're hungry. Overall, it was a decent meal that you can make as fast or as leisurely as you want, depending on your vibe. Lots of hot sauces to choose from as well.

one of the BEST Mexican restaurants I've had in a long time, and baby... it was FIRE…read more Now let me start with the one thing that bothered me. When I first walked in, I wasn't greeted. I was looking around for a menu to place a takeout order and there was a family ahead of me taking up most of the entrance area. Kids were running around, people were sitting everywhere, and it was honestly hard to tell who had already ordered and who hadn't. While I stood there waiting, employees kept coming back to offer that family more things while I was completely overlooked. Eventually I got frustrated and left. Instead, I placed my order through DoorDash and went across the street to McDonald's to grab something for my babies while I waited. By the time I got back, my food was coming out fresh. Now for the good part... I ordered 2 steak tacos and 1 chorizo taco with onion and cilantro. It took me about 15 minutes to get back to where I was staying, and the food was still warm and held up perfectly. The first thing I noticed was how flavorful the meat was on its own. Nice char, great seasoning, and you could tell it was cooked with care. The corn tortillas were clearly fresh and tasted homemade. They pulled everything together perfectly. And this is my ultimate taco test... I saved one for later that night. Hours later, the tortilla still hadn't fallen apart. It wasn't soggy. It wasn't disintegrating. The taco was still intact. Now let's talk about the salsa. They gave me both salsa verde and salsa roja and LAWWWD. The flavor, the spice, the balance... they somehow made the tacos even better, and I didn't think that was possible. I'm so used to the watered-down, Americanized stuff people swear is authentic when it barely has any flavor. This was the real deal. If you're from the Chicago area or honestly anywhere and you're looking for authentic Mexican food with actual flavor, this place is worth it. And if you're visiting the Wisconsin Dells and want something good that's not ridiculously overpriced, put this spot on your list. I'll definitely be back before this trip is over and again the next time I'm in town.

I never thought I'd be raving about mac and cheese, but this was hands down the best I've ever had. We ordered the Jalapeño Mac, and the owner suggested adding the Chipotle Chicken. That recommendation absolutely made the dish! It had the perfect balance of creamy, cheesy, smoky, and spicy flavors. The cheese tasted incredibly fresh, and you can truly appreciate why Wisconsin is famous for its cheese. We also tried one of their melts, which was just as delicious--crispy, buttery, loaded with flavor, and packed with that same amazing fresh cheese. Everything was so good that we came back the very next day before leaving Wisconsin Dells because we couldn't stop thinking about it! If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and don't miss this place. Fantastic food, great recommendations, and an experience we'll definitely remember.

We had friends with us for the 4th weekend and decided to finally give it a try.The place always looks busy and has a huge outdoor patio, and live music on the weekends (Wednesday through Sunday right now).We were very surprised it wasn't very busy given the Holiday weekend, but it allowed us to get a table right away.We were seated immediately and our server was prompt(she was it seems, also training someone). We ordered our beverages and then ordered, what else, but a traditional Friday night Fish fry that had large side option choices too. In no time at all she brought out 5 fish fries that were hot and fresh and some really good coleslaw too boot. The batter was crispy and the cod inside really had a great flavor(sometimes not the case) and breadsticks instead of the traditional rye bread,a pleasant change. Needless to say ,it didn't take long to finish off our orders. All in all a very pleasant experience, and good food to boot.We now have another great choice for a fish fry close by us in the Dells to go too.Good job, pretty decent menu selection as well, but that'll have to be for another time.Worth stopping for ,for sure.
