While restaurants may choose to add gratuity in certain situations, customers should be clearly informed so there are no surprises. My advice: enjoy the food, but be very specific when ordering. The manager then said I didn't have to have an attitude, the restaurant was giving me a gift card so I asked what attitude. The manager then said you raised your voice and I said no ma'am, my volume has stayed the same throughout our conversation. I was cut off and told the restaurant could not just make more pasta, it would take a long time. Did I want the gift card or not. I said yes please and then the manager said you can call the general manager if you want. At this point I was shocked having been disappointed that the restaurant ran out of food and then told I had a bad attitude after thanking the manager for a gift card. As the manager walked to the front to get the gift card I realized how badly I had been treated and asked for the general manager's phone number along with the gift card.
