To be honest, I was a little worried when I saw the reviews, because a friend suggested this place. As soon as I walked in, the staff was very friendly, I was seated promptly, the chips and salsa were good tasting, the suggested margaritas by the waiter was very good, and the entire Carnitas De Res was really good! I'll keep this review fairly short... I should have checked the Yelp reviews first... but the restaurant we wanted to go to was randomly closed and this was a close option. The kids quesadilla and fries came out first and were cold. The cheese was not melted and there were maybe 10 fries total. I ordered chicken enchiladas and was served ground beef. It took another 5 minutes before the other two people got their meals, both were just ok. The huckleberry margarita and Cadillac margaritas were good, so they've got that going for them. I stopped by the Fiesta Guadalajara bar to kill two hours. I stood at the hostess desk waiting to be seated for about 5 minutes. People were waking back and forth without acknowledging me. I was finally brought to the bar. First impression is pretty sad, the bar stools are broken. Flat cushions on a 12x12 post of wood. The cushions wobble really bad. One post of wood is just sitting all by it self, no cushion on it at all. Now to the drinks and food. I ordered a Cadillac Margarita and the Crab Enchiladas for lunch. I must say both are excellent. The drink is as smooth as silk and the crab enchiladas are very tasty. The portions are what I'd expect and I'm very happy about that. The chips and salsa are very good too! Don't let the look of the bar fool you, this place has it all together where it counts. I'm deducting 1 star because of the look of the seats in the bar and the 5 minute wait to be greeted, but everything else is stellar in my humble opinion. If I lived closer, I might frequent this establishment more often. I'm glad I gave this place a try even after reading all of the crappy reviews. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones, all went well. First time eating here and I had high hopes, I really did. We rolled up at 5pm during the week and we were the only ones there for about 30 minutes, which told me it was a sign. Margaritas were decent.....tequila was all the way oj the bottom though and by the time you got there, it was watered down. The food. I called a night ahead to see if they could accommodate a large table for a small celebration and they said yes, so we planned our dinner party there. It was a Friday night and they were busy. They sat us all together at a table , but we needed two more chairs as girls trickled in . Nobody would get us chairs or re seat us. We found chairs and made sure we were not blocking the exits. This was supposed to be a 50th birthday celebration and a bridal shower, and we planned on eating and drinking plenty. We were ignored for about 20 minutes and had to find someone to take our drink order. The server treated us like we were a burden, instead of a potential Huge sale and respected patron. When we ordered our meals, two of them came burnt ( grilled fish tacos , and rolled taquito plate) we sent the food back and opted to just eat chips and drink . One of the meals was over spiced so bad , that she couldn't eat it, but didn't send it back as we were not trying to be difficult. Later one of the ladies was so agitated that she went and got the manager , and the young man sat and rolled his eyes, and then blamed the service on the " new cook" and then said " what do you want us to do, sing to you ? " He made it very clear that he did not care, and was just standing in as manager for the night. One of our ladies grabbed a female waitress that stepped in and helped us with some simple requests, and she was energetic and kind and apologetic. She asked what we were celebrating( no one else did) and tried to help us finish the night on a better note. Many of us at the table work or have worked in the serving industry. We understand an off night, or busy night, but you still have to care, you still need to try, and you should Always be professional. We felt bullied, and dismissed and none of us will be back to this establishment. read more

This place used to be one of my favorite places to eat....until they robbed me. I brought my cousin from Texas to lunch here and I was in great spirits to show him some good Mexican food since it's hard to find here compared to the motherland (Texas). I ordered my usual, Pollo Chipotle, and I asked if I could have a mix of shrimp and chicken since they a Camarón Chipotle as well. I said, "can you do a mix of both? Maybe a little less chicken but then add the shrimp"? I said "If I have to pay a little more, that will be okay". The waiter then asks "how many shrimp"? I was like...."What? Heck I don't know.....5"? I was truly confused because who knows how many shrimp they would put in, in lieu of the chicken they normally put into the dish. Right? Well, my cousins says, "wow, that sounds good, I'll try the same". Soon, they bring the food and it looked just as expected, less chicken but with exactly 5 pieces of shrimp. The food tasted good as usual. Then the tab arrives.....they charged me $3 dollars for EVERY shrimp!!! I then went to speak to the owner and he said that it was considered a "side". One shrimp? One shrimp is considered a side? How will that look like.....they bring you a plate and put ONE SHRIMP in the middle?!! They charged me $30 total for 10 quarter size pieces of shrimp. Then the owner pretends to NOT be the owner and says "it's just the way the owners have it in the system and I can't do nothing about it"; apparently he forgot that we had met before, however, he said, "YOU should have asked how much the side was". It's not even listed as a side in their menu and the waiter never mentioned that it was a "side" and he definitely didn't mention that it was $3 a piece for what they consider to be "large" quarter size piece of shrimp. The bill came out to over $70 for what used to be a $30 lunch for 2 people. I paid it and called them out for the thieves they are. Fiesta Guadalajara is an "old school," family owned and operated restaurant, serving delicious Mexican cuisine that's based on the city that the restaurant is named after, Guadalajara, in the Mexican state of Jalisco. This amazing restaurant serves some of the finest Mexican cuisine the greater Boise area has to offer, and the delicious fare is served with a smile. We're still in the grips of the COVID-19 virus scare, so seating in the lobby is taped off. As you enter the restaurant, you'll be greeted by a friendly "meeter/greeter" who will seat you. On this late Thursday afternoon, the restaurant was sparsely seated, so our "greeter" suggested we sit anywhere that suited us. We decided to sit in the main dining room. Shortly after we were seated, our super friendly server, Nancy, brought out a large basket or warm, fresh corn tortilla chips, along with a small bowl of in-house-made salsa, and creamy beans, perfect for dipping. My friends are a little "sensative" when it comes to salsa, so I gave it the "ol' college try" and rated the "heat" level at medium-low, which works perfectly for me. My friends opted to enjoy the bean dip, so I got to eat the salsa all by myself! From the "Combinations" section of the menu, I ordered a #5, which featured a tamale, and enchilada, along with a taco. All combinations include rice, and either refried or "whole" beans. Like the "Mexican" I am, I went with refried beans, which are one of the foods that I LOVE the most. When asked for my choice of meat, I "porked out" and went with pork, all the way. Choices of meat for all entrees includes chicken, carne asada, pork or carnitas. Talk about a tough decision! I went with carnitas for my taco, enchilada and tamale, but I could have "mixed and matched" if I would have wanted to. Fiesta Guadalajara is very flexible, and serves YOUR food the way YOU want it! The carnitas meat in my meal was simply mouth-watering amazing, as it was juicy, tender, seasoned, and spiced perfectly for my taste. The enchilada was amazing, being stuffed with carnitas, onion and garlic, but the tamale simply blew me "out of the water," as it was SO great! When you surround the juicy carnitas around perfectly prepared masa, a little on the crispy side, you go to "Jalisco heaven" without leaving the greater Boise area! My taco features carnitas, lettuce, tomato and onion, in a crispy, fried tortilla, that actually held together while eating it! The restaurant's chef has talent! The rice was great, but so-so, as rice never excites me. The refried beans... oh the refried beans! Now you're talking... the refried beans were creamy, and I could taste a little garlic and lard in the beans, which makes for outstanding refried beans! The beans were topped with grated, melted Mexican cheese which, along with the tamale, made me think I was dining in a restaurant in downtown Guadalajara, Jalisco. Do you love thick, flavorful red chili sauce? I do, and my dinner had lots of it from the enchilada and the tamale, which made for perfect dipping with my beans and rice. My enchilada, tamale and beans were topped off with two varieties of grated, melted Mexican cheese. Muy sabroso! My dinner was simply outstanding! My dining companions felt the same way, as both Cindy and Katie commented on how much they enjoyed their fine meals. Anyway you look at it, Fiesta Guadalajara is a fine restaurant... You'll love the food, you'll love the friendly service, and you'll love the "old school" Mexican-style dining room. The recent addition of an upscale bar and dining room is a nice touch as well. Food was exactly what you'd expect from a local Mexican restaurant. Inside you'll find a charming facade of a southwestern town with roof lines and paintings to create ambiance. I'm glad I went against the overall Yelp ratings of this place! The food was so flavorful and delicious and serving sizes are huge! They bring you chips, salsa and beans as soon as you sit. I had a michelada and they brought the mug out with mix and my beer separately, and the mug was chilled! I got their fiesta especial and obviously it was too much food for one person. I can't have rice or corn right now, sadly lol, and felt really cared for when the server and kitchen accommodated me by replacing my rice with salad and even my corn tortilla with another salad. Also, this Fiesta Guadalajara location has carnitas, al pastor, and chile verde pork! I tried the chile verde and enjoyed it. I'm used to "REAL" Mexican food and quite honestly this was very very good and pretty close to real deal. I had a coctel de camaron. I added a small amount of ketchup and BOOM... there it was. The shrimp were clean and BIG. My significant other ordered the chipotle chicken enchiladas and he really really enjoyed them. They were stuffed with juicy shredded chicken and lots of cheese. This is the second FG location I've been to in the Treasure Valley. I don't understand the bad reviews. This is normal mexican food. I've been to a few others with higher reviews (Adelitas, Andrade's) and didn't like them. Didn't find them "authentic" at all. This is the place to go when you want mexican food. I have been here several times and I have been holding off to write a review. I have always had excellent customer service here. Even though dated in the interior, it gives off an old school Mexican style environment and it fits. They have recently opened up a new section of restaurant which is newer which consists of booths, tables and bar area, it is really nice. In regards to the food, it doesn't warrant the price. I have been coming here for years and there have been some recent price hikes that just don't make this place worth it. I used to order a dish that was about $15 and within the last couple years it is now close to $20. My wife always gets their Mexican pizzas and there has been a small price increase but the portion size has gotten drastically smaller. I know our valley is in need of great Mexican food but there are better Mexican restaurants in the valley. I know there are several Fiestas in the valley and they tend to be different in quality. I do enjoy the one in Kuna more than this location. As mentioned, always great service and fun place to hang out but would love to see their quality of food and prices get better. read more
