I am pleased to recommend this restaurant. I especially recommend the outdoor patio on afternoon and evening when they have live music, a band called Med's Mood Swings. It's really a special California feeling to be seated outdoors with delicious food, cold beer, tasty margaritas and live music that does not blow your ears out. Sometimes, on Friday nights, they have mariachis and that's really exciting! At other times the restaurant features a great combo. Love the music! The food is quite delicious. I should have written this review a long time ago since I've been eating here regularly for the last 7 years. Ultimately that is the best testament to my 4 star rating. I'm so surprised to read such a vast range of experiences at Fiesta Vallarta from my fellow Yelpers. I can honestly say that I have never had a bad experience here. The food is always good, the service is consistently fast & friendly plus the character of the place has no equal. Come on the patio has everything from Chinese Pagodas and plaster lions to Aztec Sun Dial Fountains complete with Conquistadors to Virgin Mary statues. Not to mention that they regularly have live music. All of these things collaged together in that Magical Mexican Way! The facts: Love the salsa; it's got a great little bite from the chunks of jalapeno floating around in it (Obviously Home Made). The chips are always fresh and not Tostitos fresh from the bag. Table side guacamole is very good despite Los Altos cost. Entrees have always met or exceeded my expectations. Ingredients are always fresh and high quality. Love the Beef Fajitas! Maybe one of the strange layouts for a Mexican place. A bar, a small inner dining room. A patio in the back and then another dining room farther back. Restrooms area also outside. Was here when the Niners were playing the Falcons and they had it all over the TVs. Got the Dos Tamales - One shredded pork tamale topped with our red Chile Sauce, Cheese and a shredded chicken tamale in our fresh tomatillo green sauce, Cheese plus the Camarones Vallarta - Prawns sautéed with chile negros, tomatoes, onions, garlic and a light chardonnay cream sauce. This was recommended from a friend. Crab enchilada - Well, that's all I ordered. There are lots of crab in the enchilada but for $20, it's over priced. For the price, I expected more food. I can definitely tell you that I have had better Mexican food than this place. It's not bad, but really nothing special at all. Service - The bus person was cool. Hardworking and attentive to water refill etc. The waiter on the other hand, didn't make me feel welcomed nor not welcome. He just not very friendly but not rude, the whole experience of this place didn't make me feel warm and welcoming. But that's just subjective. Will I come back again? There is another one in DTLA (Downtown Los Altos) that I want to try and there is a very good one in Mt. View that I loved and even one in Los Altos (near El Camino Real) that I loved. This review is for the take-out service during the shelter in place. They have a very good system in place for picking up your order. The table has hand sanitizer, a cup of "new" pens and "used" pens for signing the credit card slip. Plenty of signage on social distancing and spots marked on the sidewalk to maintain 6' distance. The staff was wearing masks and gloves. They stayed separated from each other. The food traveled really well. It was still warm and the things that were supposed to be crispy were still crispy. The guacamole was every bit as smooth and delicious as it is in the restaurant. They even have beer and margaritas to go. We got Cadillac margaritas and they were the real deal. We aren't going out much - this is only the third meal we've had from outside in over 6 weeks. Glad we did it and will do it again before this is over. Oh, don't forget to tip well. We discovered La Fiesta in Mountain View when we first moved to the area and have had a hard time breaking away when it's time for Mexican food. We're frequently in downtown Los Altos and have walked past Fiesta Vallarta countless times. We finally decided to give it a try after talking about it for (literally) years. Food: chips and salsa were great. I had a chile relleno + mole enchilada combo. Wife had hard shell chicken taco and cheese enchilada combo. She said the taco was one of the best she has ever had, that the shell wasn't soggy, it came with sour cream and guacamole, looked awesome to me. My plate was a very solid 4 stars. For me, the reason this review gets a 4/5 instead of 5/5 is because I wasn't a super fan of their beans and rice. We both got the refried beans and the were more on the mild side. To be fair, they're probably more healthy than other places vecause it seems they didn't use lard? Don't know. Regardless, that was the only food thing that kept the final star at bay compared to other Mexican spots. Prices are slightly higher than comparable places. Probably expected for a restaurant in downtown Los Angeles. Service was flawless. We will definitely go back! read more

Like many, I was lured to the patio, which is bordered by lush botanicals and saltwater aquariums that offer a pretend vacation retreat we all seek. Water, chips & salsa were served before I was situated in my seat. I promptly ordered a Negra Modelo on tap and guacamole, my favorite way to start a Mexican dining experience. Chips were too thick for my liking and the salsa didn't excite but my companions seemed to enjoy this complimentary offering. The guacamole made me happy because it included large pieces of cilantro and precious-gem-size surprises of jalapeño. Plus the full order of guac was garnished with a healthy scoop of pico de gallo on the side. (I love to mix these items together.) Non traditional Mexican items on the menu made me shy about ordering a meal but I followed the guidance of Yelpers and chose the Guadajillo enchiladas. The dish was delicious! I would definitely order this dish again and the left-overs were tasty too. Fiesta Vallarta is very considerate with choices; black or refrained beans, and a salad option in lieu of the traditional rice & beans. My coworkers and I came here before heading out to the Los Altos farmers market. The farmers market is open every Thursday evening in the summer and this restaurant is right at the end of the street where the market is, so you can pop in for dinner and drinks after a stroll in the market. Unfortunately, no happy hour here :(, well, at least not at the regular tables. We didn't get a chance to eat in the bar area because it was a warm day and we wanted to eat and drink outside on their huge outdoor courtyard patio. They also have a live band playing in their patio. I ordered off the "light dinner specialties" portion of the menu which just gives you a smaller serving. I love restaurants that have these options cuz it's perfect if you're drinking and don't want to eat too much. My enchilada verde was pretty good. It's really hard to mess up Mexican food with me. It was all-around good but nothing too special. But the weird part was when the waiter took away our chips and salsa when there was still chips in there. I was still munchin on them while I was eating! My coworkers ended up asking for another basket but I thought it would have automatically been bottomless just like most Mexican restaurants. It was late on a Sunday night, we were exhausted after traveling 2 days. Add to that that we were feeling faint because we had gone too long without eating. You see, we had rolled into town just in time to go visit my elderly father who is in a skilled nursing facility after falling and breaking his pelvis in 5 places. We miscalculated and had not eaten since morning; and we spent 2 hours visiting my dad as the extreme heat in that place took its effect on us. It is true. You can get good Mexican food in Los Altos! Came here on a Friday night with my parents for Margaritas, and we stayed for the food (and music). There's a really good mariachi band that regularly performs here in the back courtyard area. After we were seated, we did have to wait 15-20 minutes before a waiter came by to take drink orders and bring chips & salsa. It was ok though, because our waitress ended up being super friendly. Our house margaritas tasted nice, but they weren't very strong. For eight dollars, I expected a little more tequila in my drink. I ordered the ground beef tostada with black beans and rice. So much food, wow! And it was all delicious. The beef was hidden beneath layers of avocado, sour cream, lettuce, and cheese. It was very good overall, and I'd order it again. We had a fantastic experience here!!! Second visit just to make sure we really love this place. We visited on a warm afternoon and had comfortable table on the patio. I had no idea how huge it is! We tired an assortment of enchiladas and crunchy tacos. The mole sauce is delicious and has the complex flavor of a homemade sauce. I love the combination of crunchy tortillas and smooth avocado. Try the mole sauce over beef. Wonderful!! Perfection!! I never drink tequila (you don't want to know) but I had a taste of my lunch companions drink and it was fantastic!!! It is coffee, tequila and Kaluah. Oh, it was delicious. I was very thrilled with my huge cup of excellent coffee and flan. Lovely burnt sugar glaze was just perfect over the eggy pudding.
