Basic breakfasts are great, portions are filling, prices are reasonable, and with small capacity seating, get there early as it is very busy, service is very efficient, and your order is brought to you as it comes off the grill. To me, the best part of the experience at the 5th Wheel is watching how the waitpersons are so organized like they might be "bees coming and going in and out of the hive. Plus, it reminds me of a "mom and pop" five-star place where you feel the pride in the hard work they do to give you all they have to give! The 1 waitress is rude and this was told from other customers as well. I was very polite and I left the restaurant due to the horrible service. This spot is near my house so I finally decided to come give it a try, sadly the hype was not there. The food was alright, I got the French toast and pancakes and they literally taste so bland. I love this korean owned mom and pop breakfast place! It's small inside with a 4 or 5 tables and a bar area. Here is what we ordered: Chicken fried steak - this was delicious! The gravy on top was perfect and not too salty. Went well with the brown rice and scrambled eggs. I love that they put butter on the rice too. This also came with toast. French toast - very tasty! I love that they include eggs as well as allowing you to pick from a wide selection of breakfast meats (we got the pineapple sausage) Overall I would definitely come back to this place. A local gem, family-owned, big portions! I have to admit that the exterior of this place didn't make it very appealing to me. Not that there's anything bad with it, but it just looks old. BUT dang if the old saying, 'Don't judge a book by its cover' doesn't apply here. Inside is a small and cozy restaurant, owned by a Korean-American family, with good staples and also some interesting ones too. I got a Denver omelette, which is not something I normally would order but I think is usually a good judge of a breakfast place. And man oh man, was this one good. I love when restaurants are thoughtful with the way they make their food and the Fifth Wheel caramelizes the ham before putting in the omelette. I love that. So good. Cute little takeout restaurant! When we pulled up to the outside, I was a little skeptical once it was so small and looked a little run down outside, but their service and their food was great. Great pricing too! Owned by a Korean family and we were greeted and helped right away when we arrived.We also noticed that it must be popular since there were 2 people waiting for their food when we got there. Then after we ordered, another 3 people showed up to order too. We ordered an omelette, the spicy pork bulogi with rice, and the half order of french toast with eggs and pineapple sausage. The food didn't take long to cook and it was really good! The spicy pork bulogi had a lot of flavor and wasn't too spicy. The omelette had a lot of filling in it. The french toast was really good too, but my favorite was the sausage that I got. I was a pineapple sausage and it was a little sweet and a little salty at the same time. Okay, now 5th wheel has been operating since 1946 it sits perched above the San Leandro Creek and steps away from San Leandro Blvd. The menu is a front and back (2 sided) Menu. The food is Consistently delicious and the portions are generous. Open for breakfast and lunch only, this is a Family owned business and most importantly only the 3rd Family to operate this San Leandro landmark since 1946. Parking is street only and during high peak hours can be a challenge however worth the wait or walk. DONT Park in the Tow away business lots down the street they have signage posted. There is one Handicap table in front with two available accommodations and other tables and Counter booths available too. The bathroom is handicap accessible and really large. Very clean too. Been on my San Leandro bucket bookmark! I was actually in route to somewhere else, but my GPS took me nearby. The store was 1/2 full at 12:45 and I found a nice place at the counter. The small open kitchen was busy with Korean Mama-sans working the flat top. A quiet fella took my order. I'd heard about the Loco Moco, so no need for a menu. I asked the Asian brother if he and his family are from Hawaii. Nope. The reason they make this Island staple is because a customer asked them for it a few years back. And Loco Moco is not on the menu. Served up hot with perfectly fried eggs, a large hamburger steak, a bed of short grained rice, and gravy all over. It was delicious. My only wish was there was two scoops of macaroni salad on the side. My meal came curiously with toast. Must be a Mainland thing. Peering over at what others ordered, their plates were impressive. So my review for this restaurant is somewhat bitter sweet. I ate here for the first time and ended up ordering the half bacon and half sausage links with grits and eggs. Food was about as good as any breakfast place of this caliber. I had plans on coming back but for me personally I will choose not to but not telling anyone else not to. When I got up from the counter the lady who was behind the counter kind of stared at me and on the way out the door I paused and looked back where she was saying something to the younger guy who waited on me in her language. I kind of knew what was being asked in real time and I was correct. He nodded his head yes while looking at me. She then loudly said thank you as I continued out the door which I ignored. Got off the plane and Yelped for a breakfast spot, which Fifth Wheel came up with it's high Yelp reviews...I'm not quite sure why it's rated so high, but it's located next to the airport, go figure. I ordered orange juice and a mushroom and veggie omelette, wheat toast, hash browns, and a side pancake. At first I figured no problem on bringing me sourdough toast...My first bite into the omelette ended up being chicken! The waitress acknowledged the chicken, but instead of offering to make me a new batch she insisted it was accidentally mixed in the batch of mushrooms and if I did not mind eating around it. No problem, but as soon as I took a bite into the pancake I ended up chewing on eggshells! I thought at first it was some sort of crunch to the batter, but I was wrong! Smooth flight and a beautiful day, nothing personal I do not think it could get any better with this restaurant. The hole in the wall feel, which I favor - I figured would have more love to the home cooking, but seems to be ran by a family who were not attentive to my issue, instead they completely ignored my complaint as I told them the issue. This place is great. I'll put that out there first before I state my criticisms. The service is always good and the atmosphere is friendly. There is limited seating, but the wait isn't usually bad to get a table and there is bar seating if you don't feel like waiting for a table. The food is consistently tasty and there are plenty of choices to pick from on the menu. They have a lunch menu as well, but I have only ever ordered off of the breakfast section. I always get a side of grits with my meal because I like the way they cook them. They leave it a little clumpy which is just perfect for me. The only problem being they put a big scoop of Smart Balance butter substitute on it. I don't know about you, but I would much prefer real butter for flavor and health reasons. I understand how 10-20 years ago people though vegetable oils were healthy, but there really isn't a good argument these days to still be using low quality products like this. They also use Smuckers syrup substitute, rather than real maple syrup. This one it much more common as maple syrup is expensive, but for their pricing, they should be using real products rather than artificial substitutes. I have noticed that they always give one refill on coffee, but will skip you as they walk around with the coffee pot after that. If you ask, they will give it to you, but it does make it feel like they don't want you lingering very long because of the seating situation. Having said that, I still enjoy the food which is always cooked perfectly, I just wish they used real butter and maple syrup. They would make this place perfect. read more

Yup. Same ole, same ole. Space has been updated a bit. They now have restrooms, counter and table seating to accommodate wheelchair users, and an automatically opening front door. Two of us for breakfast at about 10:15 on a Tuesday morning. We were okay with counter so we're able to sit immediately. We ordered large Orange Juices which were served promptly. My friend ordered French Toast with Two Eggs Over Easy, Hot Sausage and a side of Bacon. We both had to wait but his order came at least ten to fifteen minutes before mine. No explanation nor apology given. There was a loud crashing sound just before his order arrived but I'm not sure if that was his side of Bacon, my breakfast or simply an empty plate. It was distracting enough for me that I forgot to take a picture of his food before he started digging in. My food was: Three Eggs Over Easy - 4 - Easily a 5 if they had bothered with a dash of salt. Grits - 3 - I need to review my comments now and then. I forgot they serve them on the plate instead of in a bowl. Once again, lacking seasoning and that yellow stuff on top is either margarine or an inferior butter. Two Slices of Wheat Toast - 3 - Nope, no butter flavor. Three each of Link Sausage and Bacon - 5 - These two items saved breakfast. His food included Two Eggs Over Easy, one was broken. He didn't love the Hot Sausage and he had to wait for his side of Bacon. It had seven years since my last review. Time to try some new breakfast places. read more
