I was in need of an annual eye exam. So, I figured I'd try a new location. I chose 50 dollar eye guy. Came in an hour early and waited until my turn to come in (covid rules). Gentleman letting people in was very friendly and helpful. I went in and prior to my appointment I was looking at frames. I had a basket and I had gathered 7 frames . The lady with dark blond maybe mid 20s with a mask on approached me. I told her I had quite a few frames because I couldn't put them back before they were cleaned. She stated rudely "oh we are are limiting people to 6 frames". I was perplexed because what difference does 7 or 6 make? I guess she didn't want to clean the glasses. No one ever mentioned a 6 frame limit when I was handed the basket. It shouldn't matter how many glasses someone tries on to find the perfect pair. Especially before you pay hundred plus dollars for glasses and contacts. Needless to say I cancelled my appointment and left. If people don't want to work they don't need to be there. For the last ten years or so, every time I shopped for a new pair of glasses (usually about once a year since my prescription is still changing), it takes a company at least three weeks to get my lenses in. Even then I have to pray that they're right the first time (more often than not, they're way off). I didn't expect anything different when I walked in (Mark, the pink is kinda sketchy, just sayin...) but BOY WAS I WRONG!!!! Three days. They had my glasses in in THREE DAYS. I think I was in fourth grade (I'm out of college now) the last time I had glasses in under a week. Not only were they in (and my 'script correct) but he even took the time to tint the edges to blend in more with the frame, after they were supposed to be closed for the evening! The digital lenses they offer are AWESOME!!!! I'm still working on getting used to them, but the fact that my lenses are about half as thin as my previous pair of "micro-thin" lenses already makes them more manageable. My vision is SUPER CLEAR. I'll probably write a second review once they get my sunglasses in. The lenses came in at the same time as my others, but Mark told me that he didn't like how they turned out. I convinced him to let me try them on just to see, and he was right. They weren't quite right. But the fact that he wasn't even going to show me until they met HIS approval says volumes about the service he provides. He's not going to let anyone leave his store unless they're fully satisfied that their vision is right, or that he's going to do something to make it right. Thank you Mark, and the other staff that helped me. Your turnaround time is beyond amazing, the product (the digital lenses) are better than anything I've had, and I've had glasses my entire life. And you didn't let me walk out the door with glasses that didn't work. Five stars aren't enough. Two thumbs up aren't enough. All about the Bens just like any other eye place. Went in around Jan - spent close to 2k on glasses, sunglasses, and seeing a dr. I explained I would need necessary info for ordering cheap glasses online so whatever they needed to charge for that info I needed that day. Skip to me getting hired to write reviews for an eye wear website and they need my info. Whats not on my paper? Pupillary Distance. I call 50$ eye guy where she tells me that the maker of the glasses will have to measure this. I explain this is an online JOB and as a patient I am not even going to be wearing these glasses beyond the test period! I was told it would cost $50 to give me that information off of my file. Not to mention that they have a poor selection of high end items in there. NO GUCCI and couldn't nor would they be willing to catalog order any items for me... Going else where next week when my new eye insurance and FSA comes in. Hopefully somewhere that has a little integrity. smdh... do not recommend these folks. I was in the store for the first time Saturday. Amber waited on me and her service was excellant. I was having a hard time picking out frames and she went to the back and brought out 2 pair that looked awesome. That's a rare talent that someone can look at you and know what's going to compliment your facial structure. I think the materials and service you get here are generally ok. However, with Pensacola Covid stats climbing fast, I would have thought more safe health precautions would have been taken. I had an appt with the eye doctor and requested he wear a mask since he would be less than 10" from my face when examining my eyes. He refused on the grounds that masks to him "are more suffocating than beneficial"!!!!!!!!! This from a supposed healthcare professional (and I use the term loosely). He is dead wrong!! Even in optometry school they learn about bacteria and viruses and how to prevent contamination. Now I question his degree/certificate. I walked out and saw a different optometrist. When I went to pick up my glasses, again, the 'glasses fitter' does not wear a mask even when working up close and personal face-to-face. I took my glasses elsewhere to be fitted. I can't believe this healthcare and well-being adjunct business does not know to wear masks. Too many other places in town to do business. read more

Wonderful! I had lost my glasses and due to lack of eye insurance, I was not able to afford a new pair or an exam. I purchased a Groupon and gave them a visit. They exceeded all expectations I had!! They had a huge selection of frames for $50. I found the frames I wanted and they were ready for me a few days later. Once I put them on, I had tears in my eyes (happy tears!) I was able to see properly again! It was so stressful to strain my eyes while driving or just doing day to day things. I am so thankful that this place exists! For the most part, it was a pretty easy experience. Lots of frames to choose from, that change pretty often. The only problem was in picking the glasses up. The end is slow. When the glasses get in, there is only one person to fit them. I had to come back since he was so backed up. My sister had the same experience. Maybe hire another person for the weekend. read more

The eye doctor was good at this facility but my review isn't regarding the eye doctor it's the clinic itself. I ordered 6 pair of contacts in November 2017 it is now February and still have not received 4 pair of them and took weeks and weeks to get two I got.. I did receive two pair after they had to reorder them because they gave my contacts away according to them and it's February and I still didn't get the other four pair so I told them I wanted refund last week they said manager will call. I called again this week they said a manager of a call I called today talked to Christy the manager she tells me it's going to be 30 days because she has to talk to the owner and see what they're going to do . She tried to play that contacts are special order contacts right. Now they are special order, yeah same ones that YOU GAVE AWAY PER YOU GUYS. Who gives wrong contacts away!!! and same ones I ordered in November and its February and still haven't got that you gave away or whatever you guys is excuses were every time I called. It was 2 weeks, 2 weeks every time I talked to someone . I will NEVER USE THEM AGAIN AND WILL TELL ALL MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS ABOUT TREATMENT AND SERVICE. read more

I bought 2 pairs of glasses in November. After wearing them for a few days, I realized the lens in one pair was the wrong size and was moving around in the slot. My husband bought glasses at a different company and paid a lot less for his. I decided to return mine due to the lens and the cost. I bought 2 pairs of glasses here. One pair of clear progressive and one pair of single vision sunglasses. I wanted my sunglasses progressive but couldn't afford the cost at the eye guy. I went to the same place as my spouse and was able to get progressive clear and progressive sunglasses along with a median pair for computer work as I sit at a computer all day. I paid the same price for the 3 as I did for 2 at the eye guy. (Median pair is much better on your neck with long use of computers. You're not tilting your head up all day to see through the progressive lens. Something this other store explained. It's been a lifesaver!). So, I returned my glasses to the eye guy and was told it would take up to 30 days to get my refund!! And when I questioned this, I was told "especially since you're coming in on a Friday at 5"! Fast forward 30 days, and no refund. It ended up taking 38 days! I firmly believe the only reason I finally received my refund was because I had to call the store several times a day asking about the refund. Everytime I called, I was told corporate was working on it. I asked for the corporate number and was not allowed to have it. I would get transferred instead and no one would ever pick up at "corporate". The owner finally wrote a check for the refund after I called every day for a week. No one has the right to keep your money for that long!! I would give zero stars if I could. If you choose to shop here, and I strongly recommend you don't, be a 1,000% sure you want the glasses or you will have trouble getting your money back. I've noticed that everyone who writes a bad review is called a fake customer by them. I can assure you what I've written is exactly what happened. I will never use them again or go to the coffee guy again since they are partners and this is how they run their company. read more

Another great experience at Fifty Dollar EYE GUY! From the moment I walked in I was greeted and complimented by a genuinely happy employee. The technician answered all of my questions regarding insurance in depth and took her time to make sure I completely understood everything. Using the Groupon discount saved me more money than using my insurance, which makes me happy and Tricare doesn't get billed. The doctor (not Mr. T this time) is a wonderfully nice man who genuinely cares about his patients and explained everything in simple terms. He made absolutely sure to get my new prescription spot on and took his time in doing so. After the exam I was pleasantly surprised with the ease of finding frames and placing the order. Again, no surprising twists or up sales just clear and honest pricing. I miss the convenience of the Hwy 29 location, but seeing the store on Davis Hwy made me forget about convenience as they have so much more to offer. This is one of the few businesses in Pensacola that "respects" the customer not to mention employees that are smiling and enjoy what they are doing. Lastly, after leaving the store I received a "Heart felt Thank YOU" text from the store! I can't even get this kind of service when buying a CAR in this town! I'm a big believer in customer service and when it was time for new glasses I looked at reviews. I was impressed by what was said about this business so I called for an appointment in mid-December. Customer service was great. I ordered two pair of regular and one pair of sunglasses. Got a call the first week of January and went to pick them up. Everything was good so far. I was having a hard time adjusting to them so I ended up taking the glasses back. It took quite awhile to find my file but then they spent the time to find out what was wrong and the prescription was slightly off. No problem- it happens. They said they'd put a rush on it and get them corrected. About 3 1/2 weeks later I call to see where they're at. They check and tell me they'll be in at the end of the week. (Sounds like they forgot about them). I say I'll be in on Saturday and they'll be there right? Yes absolutely! Well guess what....no glasses, no apology and they call to find out the glasses didn't even ship until the night before. I'm told they'll be in by Tuesday. It's about a 45 minute drive just to get to the store and I'm working long hours so I wait until the following weekend. I call and they're very pleasant and I ask if my glasses are in. I'm told yes they are. You're sure. Yes they're here. So I drive all the way over only to get an apology because only one pair is there and not the other two. I did get an explanation and apology this time but at this point I'm just over it. I paid for three pair of glasses 2 1/2 months ago and at this point I'd rather just have my money back. read more

I've been coming here for a few years now the staff is always very friendly and helpful, and the prices are good. The first time I went they gave me the wrong prescription trial contact lenses and I had to go back and get another pair. The second time I was not given the correct prescription for one of my eyes and had to go back. I was originally given a lens that was not right for me because my actual prescription would have to be ordered (which I would have preferred of course). I also ordered prescription glasses and sunglasses. I picked up the glasses and they are totally off, they make me dizzy and throw off my depth perspective. I've never had to go back and forth with an Eye Doctor's office just to get the correct prescription, I've had to be late to work multiple times because of these issues. Also their opening time is listed as 9:30 but they dont open til 10. I was even told by one of their employees by phone to come in at 9:30 and no one was there. After I eventually get these issues resolved I'll have to find a new Dr. because I cant keep coming back week after week just to get my right prescription. read more

Not Happy. Approx 30 days ago (7/25/16), I walk in to the office on Highway 29 to get new glasses - I pick out the frames - she reads my other glasses - I pay - Glasses will be ready in 10 days - I get phone call in 10 days - Glasses are ready - I go back to the store, then she tells me they are progressive lenses - I ordered lined trifocals. Now she has to reorder - another 10 days- get call glasses are ready - Happy me - I go to pick them up - at first they seem OK - until I take my dog for a walk and realized I cannot see clearly in the distance - back to the store - seems she read my glasses wrong - I now go across the street to get my written script from Walmart and return to the store - She says "Oh i was only off on the axis" Really? WTF? While I am there I pick out another frame - now I will get 2 pairs - in another 10 days. So far I have over $400 invested in these glasses that I do not have yet. She calls me last evening and says 1 pair of my glasses are in - I say "What about the other pair?" She says "I guess they are still at the lab". I told her to call when both pairs are in. I have emailed and posted to twitter- the response to my email was horrible and no help to me. Customer service has all the sympathy of a pet rock. So 30 days later and I am still waiting, and they do not seem to care. Today 8/25/16 after leaving a one star review on Face Book - someone from this company is suggesting that they issue me a full refund and not give me my glasses, that I have already paid for.. I want the glasses. I had to change the review on FB in order to get my glasses . Got my glasses this morning 8/26/16. Bottom line - I do like my glasses - however I do not like all the crap that I went thru to get them. I will never do business with 50 dollar eye guy again. read more

I am definitely in agreement with the other Yelpers. My experience was no different than everyone else's and they have earned another loyal customer. The other eyeglass stores in town all advertise the "Buy 1, get 1 free" or "Two pairs for $69", but I have found those deals to be rip-offs. I was a bit weary of the $50 frames offer, because when frames are $50, they are always the really low quality frames that no one wants, and then they add a bunch of fees on top of that. The frames on display here were ALL $50, which meant their ad was 100% legit. At the end of my visit, I paid $228 for my glasses which included my eye exam and transitional lenses. I paid $336 the previous year at another optical store for the same services/items! The people who run this business really know customer service, too. The lady who helped me, Christy, was so friendly and nice. I spent a good amount of time looking at frames, and she was patient with me for the entire time. She even tried to make conversation with me, which I think is a nice touch. My experience with the Fifty Dollar Eye Guy was definitely a "Woohoo! As good as it gets!". read more

I had the best experience yesterday at the 50.00 Eye Guy. I have known Mark through my job and we also have a few mutual friends. I have always had my eyes check at the local Walmart. Well I will never do that again. I learned more about my eye health yesterday than I ever had before. They took a 3D image of both my eyes, then showed me actually how healthy my eyes really are. With the 3D image they can tell you if you have diabetes, glaucoma, blood flow problems. I am waiting to receive my new glasses. They actually convinced me to get High Definition progressive bifocals. The lady who helped me, Christy she was awesome. She helped me pick out a gorgeous frame. Everyone was so nice, friendly and professional. I will definitely be seeing these guys again. Thanks so much. I can't wait to get my new glasses. read more

My initial experience with them was good. However, it went downhill quickly after that. I posted a review on their Faceboook page and the owner reached out to me personally to try to make it right. Surely this would be a good thing right ... WRONG! The replacement glasses that he has had for less than 2 full months have broken yet again! This time the screws just fell out and you can tell that they were already altered because the place to put them back in is stripped. Glasses that are two months old do not have stripped parts, especially when nothing has been done to them since we picked them up. But when my husband did pick them up from the OWNER ... The owner had the nerve to say that I needed to correct my original posting on Facebook (that they took down) to be accurate because my information was wrong. However, when I asked him what information was wrong as I had the invoice in hand I did not receive any response and still haven't to this day. I have an invoice in hand that totals around $500 dollars that is charged between me and my insurance. Now I am out even more money because I have to pay out of pocket to get new glasses because the ones I purchased here ... are junk! They need to learn customer service and actually get quality product in. I will never step foot and spend more money in one of their locations - especially since I have the paperwork to back up what I stated and I have never been called a liar by a company before - Just for stating the FACTS!! read more

I purchased a $50.00 Groupon that covered an extensive eye exam and would take $150.00 off the price of my glasses (essentially the frames would be free and $100.00 off the prescription lens) I have only worn readers--the cheap ones, never glasses. Dr. Mark was great--very knowledgeable. I opted to have an extra test done that for some reason wasn't covered in the extensive eye exam---it was $30.00 and I believe well worth the money---shows the retina and the health at the back of the eyes. My one star is based on the fact that with my Groupon and the "free" frames and the fact that Haley gave me an extra $50.00 off my glasses since I wold be a new progressive lens customer---and she supposedly forgot to add the drill hole installation fee which was around $40.00----my glasses with all those discounts would have been $258.00 walking out the door price. So I asked what about just regular reading glasses--I'm thinking surely I can afford those with this Groupon----but just for reading glasses with nothing extra it was $100.00 after the Groupon------I'm glad I had my eyes examined---I am 49 and have never had that done---but the high pressure to buy the most expensive lens they sale and then the pressure to add extras like coatings for night vision is a turn off--------------I was not the only person who told them that I would have to think about it and get back with them----two other people left while I was in there-----v very disappointed in my experience---------still, I guess $80.00 for a comprehensive eye exam isn't too bad so I should give Dr. Mark four stars---but the rest of the experience was not pleasant-------I arrived at 1:20 for a 1:30 appointment, was not seen until nearly 2:00----no reason given except for Amanda had to come from the other store---but she arrived about 1:35 so I'm not sure why it took so long--twenty more minutes to see me-----then when you sit down with Haley to go over prices------the experience is like buying a car----I didn't leave until well after 3--and then only after using the lame excuse that "I would need to speak with my husband before spending that much money"------I will not go back. $150.00 should cover the price of a simple pair of reading glasses!! read more

WELL, if I could find 50 frames in a longer length I would have bought them, but I didn't fell in love with a pair of Dolce and Gabbana style number DG 31742748 for 329.00, ok well they are not the "latest style" and they were 'TOO SHORT". How did I find out they were too short I took them back and the only person that seem to have a clue took one look at them and stated that they were. Found a pair of Cole Haan, and they were not marked with the price but were only $229...I know I am getting 100 back...no they told me that they we were even.. I have been wearing my new frames for about 5 days and the first thing I noticed is that they don't seem to have the vantage polarized transition that the Dolce and Gabbana had..I am growing suspicious and so I google both pair of frames The Dolce and Gabbana I can by on line for $77 and the Cole Haan CH 688 have been discontinued..Mr. 50 dollar eye guy please make this right.Please give me a fair price on my frames and make sure my lens are right... I would gladly pay for what I expect and you have a lot of nice $50 frames but I need a 140MM. I came back to get my new frames and your staff agreed that you would rebate my $100.00 and they told me that while you have a 30 day guarantee that is only for a full refund.
