Waited weeks to get there with a reservation made weeks before and was met with no table......people were being seated right up to the time we got there for our reservation and no attempt had been made to make space for our rez! The coffee was good, but unfortunately they don't give free refills. So if you're a coffee drinker, plan on spending at least $10 for just 2 cups. I ordered my eggs over hard and my guest ordered theirs over easy. They got it messed up and both were over easy so they recooked mine. Not a big deal, but also not sure how you can mess up a fried egg order with not many people in the restaurant. Our server also broke a small plate, so it probably wasn't her day. Whenever me and my mans are trying to figure out where to get breakfast, this id always one that comes up. Sometimes there can be a bit of a wait but honestly worth it for the food! Plus there's a couple other stores in the complex that are fun to wander around in. It's a bit more upscale than the typical brunch spot, more farm-to-table-y, which means the food is a bit more special. I personally love the pressed juices and the poached fig waffles are my fav. Came here a few months ago with my parents. While the food was good, I'm not sure if it's worth the noise level. We happened to be there when there were two large tables filled up, I'm pretty sure one was a bridal shower. The noise level made it so uncomfortable to eat. I think our waitress could sense our discomfort and she threw in a complimentary bowl of fruit, and joked whether we'd be coming back or not. We go here a lot, and thought it was time to write a review. The cafe setting is definitely more "instagram" and cute in the sense that it's something that you would see in fashion magazines. The ambiance, however, is still warm and still approachable. We never felt out of place, even if we went there when they first opened The service has always been good, we never had any issues - the wait staff will typically seat quickly and check up on us regularly. The food is indeed tasty. I know some of the reviews indicated otherwise, and I do believe it's up to the person's preference. The go to for us is the melted brie that comes with nuts and jams in a warm cast iron skillet. We saw it as a Christmas special and well, it never left (although you do have to ask for it as it's not on the regular menu). All of the other entrees were good in their own way so you may just need to try it out until you find your go-to. I do admit, most of them are definitely IG worthy. read more

Went out with some of my besties for brunch and we really wanted to give Fig & Ginger a short since we heard good things about their brunch. We order 3 different menu items and had various opinions on all of them. The Cinnamon Poached Fig Waffles: first of all, this does have fig in it and we've never had fig before and it's not bad. It's like a dried fruit(?) but the overall dish was pretty sweet. Definitely need something savory to balance it out. Very generous in the Nutella but I think with the honey it makes it pretty sweet. Not my favorite out of the 3. Crispy Corn Fritter: this was really good and different from another I've had before. The egg was poached perfectly and the crispy corn fritter was a nice crunch. It's also the right amount for brunch. The Carprese: I personally ordered this because I thought it was different. It's really good and I liked the flavors that mashed all together. It's a pretty shareable dish but I wish we got another piece of bread. Overall atmosphere was pretty loud tbh... it's really nice an esthetic inside but maybe because it was a Saturday it was loud and there was a big party in the middle of the restaurant so we could barely heard each other inside. Service was a little slow but again, there was a big party in there that morning we went so we were patient. This was my first time and I think I would go back and try other items. Make reservations ahead of time because it does get packed. Also parking in McCully gets pretty tight around lunch so I suggest carpooling or going early. read more

Came here on a Saturday morning at 8am and there was plenty of seating. By the time we left at 9am the place was full. They only take reservations for parties of 6 or more. The ambiance is very comfortable. Nicely decorated. They don't play music so you can actually have a conversation with your company. Service was friendly but the server has to do much of the food prep and making the fancy drinks as well. So when you order your food, ask for all the extra stuff like sugar/creamer, napkins, extra utensils, sauces, etc in advance or else you'll need to go up to the counter for it cuz she'll be busy. I liked their chicken Caesar salad. My husband's omelette toast was tasty. They mix their egg with pesto. We also ordered grandma's meatballs and the cheese pull is really nice on this one but I agree with other reviewers that the sauce is too salty. I wouldn't order the meatballs again but I'd come back for the Caesar. We got my son the croissant sandwich sans tomato and tropical fruit bowl to go. Fruit was fresh. He liked that cheese on his sandwich. It's a big sandwich, enough for two to share. The two drinks we ordered were the mocha coconut: (tasted like a blended almond joy) my husband loved this and I got the shaken iced tea with lychee. I would order these drinks again. I love this convenient brunch place in mccully shopping center! It's a little different than most of the breakfast places out there in that's it's a little more elevated. It's only open till 3pm. I also love that they have charcuterie boards you can order to go. I think some of the bigger ones I think you pre order or they can still make it when you walk in, just have to wait a bit. Also, it is served with mushrooms, spinach and 2 asparagus with cute potatoes! On top of that, I had 4 half size of toast! Be sure try to ask for strawberry jam! Everything was delicious and very filling! I usually ask for a take out container in the beginning and I place half of it to take home! This way it looks like a brand new dish instead of you picking it over! I definitely would recommend this as you can get 2 meals out of it!! Fig and Ginger is a cute spot for brunch in McCully Shopping Center. I've been two times and I enjoyed the food on both occasions. The first time I went, the service was pretty good. However, the service was lacking when I went again about a month and a half ago which is what brings my review down to three stars. When we got to the restaurant, there were a few people waiting so I went inside to put my name down and see how long the wait was. The girl I spoke to was less than friendly (didn't smile or anything) and just curtly told me the wait time. When we did get seated, it took about 30 minutes for them to come and take our order. Although it was full inside and there were only two people working, you can clearly see the employees at the counter talking to each other and it didn't seem like they were busy. Meanwhile, my party and I were aimlessly looking around, clearly ready to order and waiting for an employee to help us. After maybe 20 minutes, someone finally helped us and although they were really friendly, it didn't make up for the slow and lackluster service. The food itself is pretty good and is unique compared to other brunch places. I've had the Roasted Mushroom Baked Eggs, which comes with pesto toast. The eggs and toast are super tasty and a good portion size. I think the food is reasonably priced, especially for a brunch restaurant. I've also ordered their charcuterie boards and would highly recommend those for a special occasion. They're tasty, aesthetically pleasing, and made with a lot of different ingredients. The ambience inside is also really cute and homey, it's just tiny which is why there can be a long wait and they only take reservations for parties of 6. Overall, I think Fig and Ginger is a cute, unique experience for brunch. We're back again....this time to have our annual holiday mommy/daughter breakfast. First time for our friends to Fig & Ginger, and they loved it. The food and service is always consistent and welcoming. Servers and owners are so so nice here. Lucky we made reservations ahead of time, this place is always busy with customers in and out, we even saw a huge take out order this morning. Ordered my usual Roasted Mushroom Bake with Rose Latte and this time tried the chia seed pudding it was awesome with fresh fruit and a hint of coconut milk in the chia seed. My rose latte is always consistent, light fragrance and hint of rose, just right and not overpowering. It's is my favorite place, the atmosphere is nice and cozy, the vibe is what makes me come back, its just a nice mellow place to have a meal and no one rushing you out the door, even when they getting busy. Last week we took a charcuterie workshop, it was the best workshop I've ever attended, the price is worth the workshop. You enter and the owner Yim is welcomes you with her cheerful happy warm smile and so geniune. Due to the holidays, location of the cafe and traffic in the area, she started us off with the buffet of charcuterie, amazing mini chicken curry sandwiches (this was amazing but not on the cafe menu), tea and water, while we waited for others to arrive. We didn't know the food was part of our workshop and its BYOB (guess we didn't read that in the event description, but next time we will remember). They had wine glasses for you BOYB, how nice is that. Yim is amazing on showing us techniques and tips for making our own charcuterie boards at home. She goes around to each table to show us techniques if we didn't catch on, ensuring us that we are doing it right, etc. Everything was precut and ready to assemble, she also gave us sprinkles and edible snowflakes to decorate our boards. Seems like a random location at McCully Shopping Center (hate the parking there!) but it was a good find. We went there for brunch, and the food was delicious. Two people got the fig waffles with caramalized banana and chantilly cream (Yum! Perfection), two people got the omelet (was that pesto egg?) one of us got The Ocean (toastie), and one got the Avocado Toast (I think he was the winner)--it was like an eggs benedict--eggs slathered in hollandaise sauce on top of avocado on toast (the bread was a little hard)--AND he got a side of lox so basically got The Ocean and more! The coffee, service and French toast were great! Loved that they offered oat milk. The space is small and cute so can see a wait during busy times. The grilled steak sandwich, truffle fries and crispy corn fritters had nice flavors, but were too salty. It felt like they salted each ingredient without thinking how it would go together. For instance, the truffle fries was cooked well and had the right amount of salt. But then they added more salt, which made it too salty. If not for the food being too salt would've given them at least 4 stars. Balanced flavors and one that won't raise my blood pressure are however key in food preparation in my humble opinion. read more

New brunch spot in mcully shopping center that specializes is charcuterie boards. I'm not much of an expert on cheese but I liked the ambiance that this place has. It's a small restaurant so be prepared to wait to get seated. They have a lot of charcuterie board options which is nice to share with the table or other brunch food like sandwiches and toast. We got the seasonal special which was a Brie board with berries on top and little toast on the side to dip with. It was a lot of cheese but really good and gooey. Onto our mains I opted for the sandwich which seemed like a better deal to me since you get fries on the side compared to their toast options which is $2 cheaper. It was a big sandwich which I could only finish half of, due to eating so much Brie before. I got the chicken sandwhich which was good but nothing really special to me. Fries were really good tho, really crispy. My friends got the avocado toast and lox toast which they said were tasty too. Came here for breakfast on a Friday morning right when they opened. What a beautiful little restaurant and the food was wonderful. I got the cinnamon fig waffles and my wife got the corn fritter toast. Both were presented very nicely. The waffle was delicious, slightly soft and airy, and it had sliced bananas. Each individual slice of banana had a crystallized sugar topping (like a delicate crème brûlée). It also had nutella. The figs were crazy good! The corn fritter was on a toasted bread. The bread was the sweet spot of being rugged enough to not get soggy but delicate enough to still be easy to chew. It had watercress, tomatoes, and was topped with some poached eggs. Coffees were excellent!! I love restaurants that are creative without being pretentious. Sometimes restaurants try to do too much and the combinations get wacky, but both dishes we ordered were perfect. The chef really knows what they're doing here! Would love to come back and try other dishes! Oh yeah service was top notch and the Christmas decorations were elegant without being tacky. I saw that Fig & Ginger added a few new items to their menu, so I wanted to stop by and try one out. When we got there at 8:30am it wasn't too busy so we got seated right away. Since it's the holidays, they put out some Christmas decorations and have cute little Xmas trees on each table. I ordered the new Biscoff Cookie Butter Toasties which is topped with strawberry pieces, banana chunks, blueberries, and their chantilly cream. It's also got a Biscoff cookie dusted with powdered sugar on top. Nice balance of flavors and textures. It is a bit pricey at $15 for what I got, but everything was fresh tasty. My breakfast buddy got the 3 Eggs Any Style breakfast. She ordered it with soft scrambled eggs and it was a lot of food. I've ordered it before and it's probably the best value at $20 for 3 eggs, toast, potatoes, sautéed kale, mushroom, baby tomato salad, Portuguese sausage, link sausage, and bacon. It's always a treat visiting Fig & Ginger. They just started offering a dinner service so I may have to stop by again soon. read more
