Good location by Venice beach with a nicely decorated outdoor patio. Went there for lunch on a Friday and the patio was pretty much filled up. The menu is not super large, but had a decent range of food, from salad to pasta, to sandwiches etc. My group got the calamari as a shared appetizer, and I got the seafood pasta for entrée. The calamari (grilled not fried) was light and refreshing. But my pasta was a little bit bland - it came with a light cream/white wine based broth, which on its own was tasty, but wasn't enough to add flavor to the pasta. Come here for a good brunch. Got the coconut pancake, which was really taste and full of flavor. I am not really a big fun of coconut but this pancake id a must try. We also got the burger which is ok, nothing to special and the seafood pasta. Seafood pasta was a bit plain for my taste but my hubby said he loved it, he was able to taste the seafood due to the seasoning not over powering the food. It had a good amount of seafood as well. 4 stars for me due to the amount of flies it was difficult to eat when to have to constantly keep the flies away form your food. Customer service was great and food was delicious. My aunt and I shared our two dishes and both loved the house-cured gravlax on toast. Classic and fresh. I went to Fig Tree Venice a couple times now and the food is delicious. I always order something different depending on what I'm in the mood for with my coffee. Their pastries are homemade, breakfast and lunch options are also so good with a variety to choose from. To start, there is no parking lot and if you're planning on driving there then there are private lots that range from $9 to $30 dollars. If you have a reservation, get there half an hour earlier to figure out the parking situation because it's incredibly tough. Once we got there, it took about another 20 minutes to get seated even though we had a reservation... which is fine, it happens. But once seated, the waitress was dismissive and slow. We sat under the blazing sun during a heatwave and had to ask for an umbrella twice because they kept forgetting. After we got our food, they didn't provide our utensils. When we asked for it, it never came. Again, we had to ask TWICE for utensils just to eat food and it was cold by then! We had to wait another 10-15 minutes just to get our utensils. Please be sure if you want to be served in a timely manner, you might have to ask twice because they often forget. Even with 4 different people serving us, they forgot quite often. Please note there's a mandatory 18% gratuity which I am usually okay paying for but with that kind of service, it was jarring. I would've given this place a one star if it wasn't for our dish. We got the the chorizo potato omelet which is good and so I bumped it up 1 more star. Wonderful location, beautiful setting, food, and service!! We ordered: CHEESEBURGER WITH FRIES- The burger was cooked to perfection! The brioche bun was so delicious. The sweet pickles balanced out the slightly spicy mayonnaise. Fries were crispy and perfectly salted. FRIED PLANTAIN- OMG SO GOOD! Like dessert but also a great side to balance and savory dish. Off the bat, the hostess was dismissive and told me to "hold a minute" as she chatted with her friend for 5 minutes. I ordered the mitake (which is actually "maitake" but the restaurant misspelled it on the menu) mushrooms, steak frites, and a Bloody Mary. The mushrooms were overpowered by the parsley oil - it tasted like I was eating a herbal candle. The steak had a sourness to it which I would attribute to the combination of rosemary and mustard. What didn't make sense to me about this dish is that they ruined perfectly crispy fries with a watery butter sauce; soggy, wet fries...gross. The Bloody Mary was watered down, had a weird graininess to it, and the garnishes were wilted/ the olives had bruise-like marks on them. Would not recommend this restaurant - overpriced and mediocre service. read more

Pre pandemic it was one of my favorite places and friends to eat when in Venice. After reopening post pandemic with the change of ownership and menu the food has gone from mediocre to very poor. I chose this restaurant for my mother's birthday and came as a party of three: Mom, my pregnant wife and myself. I found this place on tik tok(be grateful you're getting exposure from content creators) as I was looking for nice, beachside brunch locations with a beautiful outdoor ambiance. First off, the restaurant aesthetic is gorgeous. I loved the wall color, the foliage, wooden tables. The vibe there was nice!! Location: 9/10. Now let's get into the nitty gritty. The thing that annoyed me the most about this place and it's probably out of the restaurants control are the flies swarming you if you're in their outdoor eating area. They're vicious and just make your social and eating experience a headache. You're swatting flies every 10 seconds. Take your eyes off your food for a few seconds and they'll be all over it. This is probably made worse by the summer, I don't know. But on this particular day, that was annoying. Secondly, they put drinking cups for water upside down before you arrive at your table. I get it... aesthetically it's nice. It's also nice to arrive at your table already somewhat made for you. However, these flies are everywhere and they were landing on the table, the chairs, the cloth napkins. This is very unsanitary! I'm sure they clean the tables before they place the cups down but geez! I definitely don't want to put my mouth on something that touched the table. I don't trust that they'll clean it thoroughly. So this a no-no. I asked the waiter for straws and the dude gave me a weird look like "who asks for straws?". I do! Cuz cups touching the table is gross. Let's talk about service: honestly I feel like nobody here enjoys customer service nor enjoys working here. I feel like all I paid for was to eat at a nice location, that's it. There's no enthusiasm, no warm and welcoming attitude. Our waiter was dull. Side note, what waiter tells a customer a certain plate is not popular lol. Like... have some tact, if you think another dish would be a better option, there's definitely a way to say that without making someone think that what they're ordering is trash, especially if you're a picky eater(my wife). I get it too, sometimes as a waiter you may not know the menu like the back of your hand. But if you don't know something, ITS OKAY NOT TO KNOW. Just say that. Go to the kitchen and confirm it instead of saying the dish is made a certain way when it's not(referring to the shrimp roll that we were told was made with fried shrimp but was actually boiled). This saves you from having to take a dish back because your customer is not happy with it. I ordered the the chilaquiles with added chorizo. I'll give it a 7/10. Great flavor, tortilla chips were mad soggy though. I like them not too soggy and not too hard. My mom got the chilaquiles with added chicken. She liked them! Halfway through our meal, we ask one of the ladies walking around for a refill of the water bottle. She kindly goes back to grab one but on the way back, she literally puts it in the middle of the table without saying excuse me. Mom and wife are talking she's just out reaches her arm out right in the middle of them without saying a word. Lol seriously? Again... I feel like nobody likes working here or maybe it's that nobody knows how to really treat customers well. The ONLY person that checked on us to see how things were was who we believe was the manager. He was a Caucasian gentleman wearing a black t shirt. He was the only one with the "I'm here to make sure you have a great experience" attitude. That says a lot. All in all, I really liked the aesthetic of this place. It's perfect as a beachside restaurant. Parking can be expensive unless you're lucky with street parking. Food was pretty good but nothing incredible. But your crew needs some help with some customer service. When you have a good time at a restaurant, are treated well, you sometimes just wanna hang out there after you're done eating. We couldn't wait to leave. I wouldn't tell you not to go. I hope for anyone reading this, you have a better experience here. I heard about this place from a friend and was really excited to try! The outdoor patio is great and has a view of the beach/boardwalk. We made reservations before arriving which I'd recommended! The food was really good and filling and they give decent portion sizes for the price. I ordered the plantain pancakes and really loved them. My only complaint would be that the service was a bit slow and for the prices, their coffee wasn't amazing (they did really cute latte art, but didn't have many flavors or milk options and the vanilla flavor I ordered was bitter and tasted nothing like vanilla) but otherwise I really loved this place. I took an Uber so I'm not sure of the parking situation but since this place is right on the Venice boardwalk I'd recommended taking Uber or Lyft over so you don't need to fight for parking. read more

Let's start off with the positives -- the only good thing was our amazing server. He radiated good energy and just wanted to be super helpful so shoutout to him for that! 2. We asked a staff member for the restroom and he gave no direction, this isn't a regular restaurant where the outside is directly connected so we were genuinely lost. When we asked this staff member for a second time after not being able to find the bathroom, he gave us attitude. We've literally never been here and when we saw the way to the bathroom, it was a whole maze, no way we'd find it. 3. The food was incredibly sub par. Folks are leaving raving reviews and that was not my experience at all. We got calamari as an appetizer, there was no seasoning on the fish, it tasted like they had just pulled it out the ocean. I wish I was joking lol. Nothing had any seasoning. I ordered gravalox and it was honestly 2/10. Bread was so hard. Eggs weren't good. Salmon had no flavor. I took 2 bites and didn't eat the rest. It was a little windy at our first able but we asked to move and they accommodated us, no problem. It also seems like they leave a lot of space for walk ins early in the morning. Our reservation was for 10AM but there was still tons of space and everyone that walked up got a seat. By the time we left, it was a little crowded but given the location that's to be expected.
