The food here is amazing. Excellent marinara sauce and fresh bread! We ordered gnocchi with marinara and spaghetti and meatballs. Both were flavorful. The bread was warm and drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled with Parmesan. Definitely coming back here on our next trip. This place was packed with locals on a weeknight so we dined at the bar. The Queen of Queens was our bartender and she was delightful and concocted a special Italian cocktail for us - my friend texted the ingredients and she did her best! We were on a quick visit through Wheeling celebrating my mom's 79th birthday with a walk down memory lane. Great service, nice patrons, delicious and reasonably priced food. We stopped in on our way across country after finding several good reviews on yelp. The decorations outside were better than inside. The red Ferrari was a nice touch. Dinner included a steak salad and chicken Alfredo. The salad was great with very fresh ingredients and nice chunks of fillet. The Alfredo was creamy and delicious the chicken was moist and tasty. Arrived around 5:15 p.m. We were greeted and seated immediately by a friendly, smiling hostess. The place was packed within 30 minutes. Our waiter arrived promptly. He was friendly and professional and able to answer all of our questions. The food also arrived in a timely manner. It was both hot and delicious! As we enjoyed our meals, we observed that all of the wait staff were friendly and behaved very professionally. This was especially refreshing because the employees appeared to be very young. It is apparent that management understands the importance of proper training for staff in the effort to create a welcoming atmosphere. We were further impressed by the young manager who checked on every table, both inside and out, observed the hostess station, the wait staff, the bar, the kitchen, and helped the lady outside with a delivery. Overcooked pasta . It took them 5 min to make my pasta dish , reheated pasta Luke warm was what I got after asking for "al dente " pasta . Would not go back . I travel to Italy often and that was not what Italian eat . Left the restaurant hungry, as I couldn't eat that dish . read more

This is a classic old Italian family restaurant. It's small but on the walls and in the menu it tells the history of the family immigrating to work in the local coal mines and creating this family restaurant. Live the food here. They have made their grilled chicken salad inedible mine was literally all stems I have been getting this salad for years and can't eat it anymore I know some people like stems but I don't enjoy them got take out and threw it in the trash..they started out with homemade fries and now it's frozen fries and stems. After reading the good reviews, we looked forward to trying it. To start, the bread was served with tasteless margarine, not butter. We ordered the fried zucchini appetizer. It was thin slices of zucchini fried in a thick, hard crust. Not good, but not awful. We ordered veal piccata, and got chicken piccata by mistake. It was not sauteed, but fried, with what appeared to be the same thick hard crust that was on the zucchini. The waitress offered to replace it with veal, but we declined. The thick hard crust would have been even worse on thin slices of veal. Overall, one of the worst meals we have had. read more

My wife and I ate here for the first time on a Thursday night. It was "prime rib night." The prime rib was excellent! I had a side of spaghetti with marinara, a salad with balsamic vinaigrette, and started the meal with a cup of lobster bisque. Ok , so my review will probably echo some others over here . First time there . Decent prices and Service was good. Ordered figs appetizer, that was delicious and had spaghetti meatballs. The meatballs were good . The red sauce not as great . Not a red sauce expert, but tastes to me like it's too sweet , maybe have extra oregano or thyme in there ? Had to add salt and pepper to my spaghetti. Almost like tasteless. I'm willing to give it another shot but probably won't order any spaghetti with red sauce unless they change the recipe . read more

Figarettis is personally one of my favorite restaurants but lately the portions and food have been laughable. We purchased 3 meals this evening, totaling $49. Pork chops were great, but risotto was literally crunchy raw. My sister ordered stuffed rigatoni and got 7 small rigatoni (that meal was $14). This was absolutely not worth the money. I have been here about a half dozen or so times over the years because people I know like it. This is not my kind of restaurant. The staff are not very attentive upon arrival. The atmosphere is always dark, dingy, crowded and loud. It is NOT an elegant or classy restaurant. The feel is more like a stuffy bar. The food is overpriced mediocrity. The sauce is extremely sweet for my taste, which is a personal preference, but it barely tastes of tomato. It definitely isn't fresh. The pastas have always been either over or under done. I prefer a good al dente. They did have a mushroom ravioli once years ago that was quite tasty but the pasta was very thick. Even the plating lacks any real care. The plates are usually sloppy with just some parsley tossed on it. The bread is good and the waitresses have all been nice. If you like sweet, jarred sauce and don't mind the atmosphere, you will probably enjoy it. read more

You can't always get your "kicks" on "Route 66" because it doesn't cross the country from sea to shining sea. Only three interstates do (I-10, I-80, and I-90) and two others cross most of it (I-40 and I-70). Say the deck of cards you are handed is I-70 and you need to eat in West Virginia. Yes, I-70 crosses WV and does so through its narrow upward pointing panhandle which is actually above the Mason-Dixon Line, but which really doesn't mean much here. I asked some local folks for the names of a few places to eat and to include some Italian places in the mix. I checked out a few and they didn't seem enticing. However, unassuming Figaretti's did. Let me get right to it: don't expect anything fancy. However, Figaretti's delivered on the food, the service, and the price. It was at about lunch time. Figaretti's is not what is called an Italian-American "red sauce factory" and it's not bistro-like modern Italian cuisine. It's off these endpoints, though slightly closer to Americanized. However, it works well. I've known of the term "red sauce factory" for a long time, and it's not exactly a flattering one, though, ironically, Figaretti's also sells pasta sauce of many varieties and it appears that it is available in some supermarkets! Here, though, I liked everything I ate, including the hearty pasta dish I ordered and its sauce. Again, I was very happy with the tab, but then I just tend to get a plate of pasta and a non-alcoholic drink. It's a slightly old school, and even a little frumpy, which you notice when you use the restrooms, but it's a clean place. The young lady who was my server was very friendly in a welcoming, small town sort of way. Generally speaking, West Virginians are laid back folks who have to endure being the butt of quite a few regional jokes. Figaretti's, in Wheeling, WV, is an easy on-off from I-70. Basically, it sits on the frontage road. Curiosity also got to me and I took a look around Wheeling. You should, too. The city sits on a river forming the border between Ohio and West Virginia. Part of the city is on an island in the middle of this river! You can tell that, with its movie houses, churches, and mansions, it must have been an interesting hub. Find a way to climb up to the top of the hill which the I-70 tunnels pass under and look over the pleasing panorama of Wheeling, its island, the river, and the abundant vegetation. Also, having received waves of European immigration to work in the coal mines, West Virginia benefits from more cuisine options than if smack in the middle of the "flyover zone." This might explain Figaretti's legacy and why the food is fairly true to form. If you aren't a food snob and like satisfying Italian comfort food, eat here. read more

Had to work in Wheeling for a day and arrived the previous evening. This place was a recommendation by a colleague (who came with us also) and DID NOT DISAPPOINT. Traditional family style Italian restaurant - homemade everything, nice bar, good selections. There were 4 of us and we all had excellent meals, great cocktails and some delicious Italian wine. Food was deliciously good and good portions without being over the top. We chose Italian wine with dinner and it was good.. Our waitress was awesome - very friendly and helped us out with specials. We shared a bread basket which was nice - fresh and hot with a garlic butter - tasted great. I did manage some images of the food but I can't find them (after backing up my phone). We stayed until closing as we got there later and the staff were fun and very helpful. If I'm back in Wheeling, I'll definitely go back there.. read more

I had to reach out to delivery com. My 18.00 chicken parmigiana looked like about 10$ worth paid 44 for this meal. Will not order from here ever again when I am in the area. I have been a resident of Wheeling for more than 30 years. Figaretti's has always been one of the best, authentic, hand made, Italian family owned restaurants in Wheeling. The last time I was there, I opted for the carry out version via Door Dash. When I got to the restaurant, my order was for cheesticks and calamari, was taking a long time. The staff was great and kept checking on me and my order. Finally someone from the kitchen came up front to let me know the restaurant was out of calamari. So, they replaced my item for any other item I wanted and never charged me the up charge. I got lobster ravioli, which is one of their best ravioli's. Their sauce is worth trying. I recommend lasagna or any alfredo pasta. Chicken parm is also a favorite of mine. Tony is sometimes in town and makes the rounds to the table. Portions are large and plentiful. The seafood is fresh too, flown in daily. You won't find fake WV shrimp at Figaretti's with their shrimp cocktail. read more

Visiting Wheeling for the first time and found this 5 star restaurant! A must stop for authentic delicious Italian food..... family run and owned for over 60 years ! I had the veal parmigiana with fettuccine and my wife had filet cooked rare to perfection! Horrible. Traveling through Pennsylvania and a hotel desk clerk recommended this place. The "homemade" bread was actually store bought, pre-sliced "Italian" white bread that I occasionally buy for cold meat sandwiches at home. The front desk greeter at Figaretti's warms up the slices in a bread oven by the front desk and serves with butter and Italian spices. They stairstep the bread on a plate so only half of each slice gets butter and spice. Weird all around! We tried various fried appetizers and they seemed to be frozen/store bought, not freshly made. The house salad turned out to be the best part of our meal as the entrees were as about as appetizing as the appetizers...seemingly pre-made, frozen ingredients and lukewarm. Totally baffled as most reviews of this place are fantastic. I could understand if the issues were supply chain related, but I don't think this was the case. My wife and I only ate 2-3 bites of each entree then stacked the plates on top of each other with the appetizer plates on top to hide the uneaten food so we wouldn't have to explain why we didn't eat the meal.
