All the times that I've been back to visit Wheeling and it was my first time at the Garden Bistro. It's super cute and charming! It was a beautiful sunny day to be able to sit outside and enjoy the garden view. The servers were friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious! I look forward to coming back. I've visited this restaurant many times. It's always been one of my favorites, until today. Starting with the wine. I've always been able to get a delicious glass of chardonnay. The only one currently available on the menu is something very odd. It looks and tastes like apple cider. Ridiculous to call that wine. I used to enjoy the asian salad. Today, the only salad option was quinoa and kale, which was completely flavorless, with one of the worst dressings I've ever tasted. My aunt ordered the avocado toast, which was a hot mess, with a sour tasting avocado spread. I ended up having a watermelon cocktail, which was tasty for the first couple of sips, but couldn't have had any alcohol in it. Not sure I'll return after such a disappointing day. read more

It was the perfect combination of rich, creamy, and herbaceous--simple yet elevated. What sets the Garden Bistro apart is its commitment to using regionally sourced produce, free-range chicken and eggs, grass-fed beef, and handcrafted bread. The menu features options for a variety of dietary needs, including gluten-free and vegetarian selections. Both indoor and outdoor seating is available, but I highly recommend the porch if weather permits--it's an unbeatable view paired with a truly relaxing atmosphere. The next day, our curiosity led us back to the Bistro--this time to visit the connected GrowLab. What an inspiring experience! The GrowLab is more than just a greenhouse--it's a hub of innovation, where Oglebay is redefining sustainable farming. We learned about the park's hydroponic technology, which allows them to grow everything from herbs to strawberries on-site, without soil and with minimal water. It's a forward-thinking, environmentally friendly system that supports the Bistro's fresh, local menu. The impact is impressive: over 200 pounds of produce are harvested weekly, and with nearly 4,000 plants grown in up to 89 hydroponic tower units, it's a model of efficiency and ecological mindfulness. Even more commendable is Oglebay's effort to educate guests. The GrowLab offers a living classroom experience where visitors can learn about sustainable agriculture and its role in addressing food security. Overpriced, tiny portions, mediocre food....but a nice view. I have to guess this place is only surviving based on it's view of the park and the fact that there's so few decent places to go in this city. Before covid the menu was limited and portions were small, but you could get a somewhat decent dinner there. Now (2022), it's insultingly tiny portions, and the food is so disappointing. The salmon sandwich we got (that was supposed to at least have some sprouts) was literally just a piece of salmon between two slices of bread for $19..there was nothing else on it?? Two small crab cakes for $21....no sides, no salad, nothing but two crab cakes on a plate. After eating 'dinner' there, we had to pick up food on the way home because we were still hungry. If you're wanting an expensive snack with a nice view, it's ok. But if you want a delicious meal or fair pricing, this isn't it. read more

The drinks are fun and refreshing and the view can't be beat. However, I might skip the food. It's a bit pricey for the size. My boyfriend and I went and got a charcuterie board. Their boards are weird in that you only can choose from all cheese boards or one all meat board. I thought charcuterie boards were meant to have a variety of things, not just one or the other. We got the meat board and for $26, it felt a bit small. Thank god we didn't have more than just the two of us because that's all the board had on it, just enough for two. Granted, that's all the food we have tried at garden bistro thus far. Their other offerings may be awesome. However that board hurt our pockets a little bit. read more

Ambiance was a cool dark bistro style restaurant, tucked behind the Oglebay Garden Center. I had the shrimp n grits. Im a local and when i go to the beach, this is one of my favorite dishes to get. The chefs at Oglebay Bistro have come up with a delicious blue corm grits (that comes out purple). The dish came with 5 gulf shrimp that were seasoned and grilled. 1 portion was almost too much for 1 person because its a hearty dish. read more

Another amazing evening at the Garden Bistro at the Oglebay Resort in Wheeling, West Virginia. Great service with family friendly menu, and always something new created. The view from the Bistro of the Lodge, the ponds, the flowers and trees can't be beat, just enhances the chef's varied offerings. Try the always new Flatbread. Great experience all around. read more

We ate on the patio on a beautiful day with a beautiful view! Peach sangria was fabulous! Loved the avocado toast and the strawberry salad. The salad was good too. Make sure to add a protein to them though! read more

What a gem! We had the best basil gimlets (seriously , the best) last night along with a Thai salad and burger. Everything was delicious and the portion sizes were perfect. Everyone was super friendly and the view was wonderful. Felt very upscale! read more

Finally decided to check this place out and all I can say is why did I take so long. Burger delicious, the taste was amazing. Bruschetta was small but totally worth it. Different than the usual bruschetta but amazing. Medici was enough to fill you up and the shrimp were gigantic and delicious. Ended it with the creme brulee and was very satisfied.
