There's never been a bad moment everytime we're here. Service is also amazing and the staff are always so friendly. The selections of beer they carry is exceptional. Not only beer, there's always some Sort of food truck that's parked outside. Don't know if it's all the time but each visit we've been there been some truck parked outside. Inside has the cool pub vibes with a sports bar feel. While outside has the communal picnic tables as well as lounges throughout the grassy area. A cool place where you can hang and enjoy music. They have live music every now and then. There's another location in Santa Barbara but this one is our favorite. Right in town from everything. The selections of their beer as well as the ciders are all great. Tasting can be given if you would like to sample something. They also have a little game room in the back area for the kiddos. Los Olivos is home to the finest culinary and wine offerings in the Valley. Quiet and quaint, this town is small but mighty. I had imagined this place to be a sit down restaurant with servers and a generous array of beers on tap. This is partly true. I found it to be more of a neighborhood watering hole, with the food actually coming from a food truck as opposed to an attached kitchen. The structure of this restaurant is a converted house. While I don't mind food trucks, I find it off putting to see runners traveling back and forth from the truck to the bar delivering food. Can't imagine the food is hot. This is just me. This place was really fun to grab a quick drink though. Alternative garage music blaring, this bar's seating area is majority outside so be sure to dress weather appropriate. Our main purpose was to stop by to grab some draught beers in a can to go, to give as Christmas gifts. They insert a special bead "widget" in the can and add nitrogen to the beer, to maintain freshness. Sweet! They also offer a house Chardonnay, Cabernet and a Pinot, which were pretty solid labels that particular day. I saw several kids and dogs. Our dog loved the water bowls positioned all throughout the grounds. Restrooms were pretty clean. Apparently bathrooms are very hard to come by in Los Olivos according to local merchants so this is actually a huge plus. I'd definitely recommend this bar for serious beer enthusiasts. I was told our gifts of draught beers in a can were a huge hit. We enjoyed our time here and look to try the food in the future if our circumstances allow. read more

I am a part time local. I really want to like this place. The beer is solid. But the women bartenders are hands down the most dismissive, rude, self-entitled bartenders in the Santa Ynez Valley. I've given them 3 tries and I'm done. Way too many great places to grab a beer in the area. Spare yourself a bad experience and avoid these miserable people. A nice change among the many wineries in the area (for us beer lovers) as their second location is a winner. (Other one in Buellton). Large dog friendly patio with many tables and chairs to enjoy your brew. We liked the Oatmeal Stout, and the lite lager (wish they had a sour though). Sometimes they have a food truck but we brought in sandwiches from nearby Panino and dined on that patio. Service was attentive and they have a full size shuffleboard game inside (along with darts). I can see this being a regular stop on our bi-annual trips to the area -- maybe we'll try the other location next time. read more

I can't rate the food, but service was poor and super slow. We never got our food, and the bar workers and manager on staff were harried and unapologetic. We came in at 1:50 p.m. on a weekend Friday because the other eateries in town had long lines , and while the bar restaurant/courtyard had a good number of customers, there were only two parties ahead to order at the bar. We placed the order, and were told to wait for the buzzer to pick up our order at the food truck outside. We waited for 35 minutes for the food, then checked on our order with the LONE worker at the food truck, who told us "5 more minutes." 15 MINUTES MORE goes by, and we checked with the bar again. Only THEN we were told that the food truck was down. We got our order refunded but also wasted over an hour of our vacation commute. read more

This is an exemplar of what a local brewery is supposed to be. Mostly locals, some fun board games to play while you drink and solid beer. The thing that got me about this place though was their members program. They have glass steins hanging from the ceiling, each assigned to a member. When a member comes in they are able to order a regular pour but have it given to them in their large stein. It may not be much, but I feel that those thing are what makes a small local brewery like this one feel homey. read more

This is an independently owned craft brewery which has a great lineup of beers to sample. We've been here about 5 times in the past 10 years while visiting the valley and I definitely would return. They have friendly staff, shuffleboard game and darts too. Great 90s rock playing on the stereo. Beware that at least on the weekdays, it turns into a dive bar of sorts with tons of locals (90% men) streaming in after their work day - lots of liters of beer imbibed and they just gather to vent about the day in large groups. For Fathers' Day, I surprised Dear Hubby with a trip to Los Olivos to visit Fig Mountain Brewery's location there. It was beastly hot outside, so fortunately we found parking in the shade not far away. Upon entering the charming old house in which the pub sits, we found it close to full at 2:30 PM. We learned that food was not available at that hour, so we went in search of lunch, returning later. This is the reason for less than 5 stars. Am not sure I get how having folks drinking full mugs of beer in the afternoon without anything but pretzels available to eat is a good idea. (Unless they're walking.) From their Westlake location, we know that they team with Jeannine's next door for their meal service. Evidently, it is the same in Los Olivos, but they go dark during the middle afternoon hours. Especially on the weekends, it would make sense to me to extend to having a small list of offerings in the 2 to 5 time frame. Once we returned, we were greeted at the bar and offered our choice of beverages. DH went for the Lizard's Mouth IPA, and I had a root beer as the designated driver. It was good root beer! We settled in to the recommended coolest corner for A/C, sipping our beverages and scoring some pretzels. From there, we could soak in the atmosphere of the large open space. Large communal tables in the center of the room are ringed with high tops. Several TV's broadcast sporting events, but don't seem to be a focal point. Interesting wall art includes local aged hiking trail signs and other memorabilia. I love that they celebrate Central Coast culture. Just watched a video on their website that tells the great story of the company's passion for their craft and for their "Fig Family". It has to be a good thing for the Santa Ynez Valley to have an employer like this for so many talented individuals, especially younger people. My friends and I are big fans of the Fig. Mountain Brewing Co. in Santa Barbara, so when we saw that there was one in Los Olivos, we had to come visit. First, if you are into aesthetics, the outer appearance of the brewery is super cute and homey. There's a front porch area where you can sit and enjoy your drink or a front lawn patio space if you prefer. When we entered the space, we were greeted with a friendly welcome from the bartender (didn't get her name but super nice!). I'm more into dark brews so I went ahead and ordered the Davy Brown Ale-- Quality! My friends and I enjoyed ourselves in the back "game room" playing Foosball, Shuffleboard (I had way too much fun with this), and darts. You'll need to trade in your ID to the bartender to get the darts! Overall, fun experience! When we were heading out, the front porch was pretty packed (definitely more people than when we first came). You could tell everyone knew one another-- It was nice to see all the locals come together to hang out and share a drink. read more

I wish I was able to get the name of the woman bartender who was rude and totally ignored us when we came in. We even got her attention after waiting for 10 minutes since no one was behind the bar. She acknowledged she was the bartender but proceeded to continue chatting away with another co-worker instead of attending to us. We just walked away disgusted by her aloofness and lack of hospitality. We were here a few years back and there was a guy bartender who was super friendly and nice, that's why we came back here again. Management please take note!!! Stopped by in a recent trip to the Solvang area. Sought this place out because of nice reviews on this "family" business. Actually the beer I tried was very good and I even bought some "to go". They are very lacking in service and temperament. Basically ignored me for several minutes before asking what I needed. Not exactly rude, but definitely less than friendly and welcoming. They seemed to interact actively with customers who were there, but it seems they don't want new business and new customers. Disappointing! read more

This Fig Mountain is so much cooler than any of the other locations. It is in an old historic building/house and has so much character. It does seem as though you are walking into someones play pad with oversized couches, tables, plus a game room in the back. It has everything you need - a patio, an air conditioned inside, darts, and shuffleboard. We had a 7 year old with us and went straight back to the game room and were able to play shuffleboard with him and drink some beers. It was a Thursday afternoon in summer so it wasn't too packed. They had a good tap list. I don't think there is food. If there is, we didn't order any. I have been to the Fig Mountain in Ventura County and it isn't bad at all. Just different. This one is a definite must visit when out in Los Olivos. read more

The beer is amazing, the town it's in is awesome, and the vibe (a majority of the time) is great. So why am I leaving a one star review? As a person who is in PR for hospitality, I'm extremely disappointed in their customer service. Actually, I'm disappointed because they allow employees to humiliate their patrons. As I visit the valley about 3 or 4 times a year for business ( for a well known hotel in Los Olivos) I have witnessed a girl behind the bar either be extremely rude to certain customers, and nice to others. Sure, there are annoying customers, belligerently drunk people, crazy bachelorette groups and what not, but as an employee, YOU represent the company you work for. After reading other reviews, I believe her name is Hannah. I saw her yell at some drunk guy (granted he was being a big asshole), I've seen her refuse to serve people/groups who aren't even close to being in need of a cut-off from alcohol, and I've seen her get impatient with the older generation. Again, this isn't a one time event- I have witnessed it several times. That's why, I always go to a guy named Jeff who is the most chill guy ever. He actually apologized to me, for her horrible service to a group of happy-go-lucky bachelorette party goers. Overall, beer is great ( hoppy poppy ) ask for Jeff, and do yourself a favor and stay away from petty servers who pick and choose which customers they like and don't like. read more

This gem is nestled right in the middle of the Los Olivos wine district. The beer is great and they offer growlers of your favorite beer to take with you. I made the mistake of leaving my debit card behind. I called the next day and spoke to Hana. she offered to mail my card back to me. I really appreciated that because I live in Long Beach.
