Finch and Fork has really evolved into an essential part of Santa Barbara fine dining scene since James Siao took over the kitchen. It is much better than the typical hotel restaurant. Service is good, the atmosphere is comfortable, the bar turns out high quality cocktails, and the food is always delectable. I had dinner here on Friday and enjoyed the whole experience. Thick hearty pork chop was grilled to medium doneness so it was juicy and tender, paired with sweet butternut puree, and warm spicy ginger flavor crumbles. Dry packed scallops were seared to a silky medium rare, placed on top of corn salsa and guacamole, further enhanced with grapefruit sections and chorizo vinaigrette. The salt and pepper chicken wings could use a little more salt. The glaze was the same as the glaze in pork ribs and pickled watermelon dish (available during the summer months), sweet, spicy, and savory. A few pieces of pickled celery cuts through the greasiness of fried food. The mac and cheese was made with mornay sauce and bacon, topped with extra cheese so it baked up crunchy and bubbling. My favorite dessert is the toasted banana shake, this and the budino from Olio are two of my favorite desserts in Santa Barbara. The only miss of the night was the sticky toffee cake. It was dry as if it was heated a few minutes too long. The menu changes with season. I have had the pork cheek with gnocchi, grilled ribs with pickled watermelon, sunchoke smear with smoked salmon, and grilled steak with chimichurri sauce. They were all delicious and the only less than stellar dish I had here was the halibut in a mountain of frisee, which was axed from the menu and hadn't returned since the early days of Finch and Fork. read more

Our server knew the nuances of the menu as well as house made sauces that could complement out meal, totally has sampled the menu well herself . We have 2 burgers the house F&F was juicy, full of flavor and it was complemented perfectly with the house horseradish sauce, jam and garlic fries was a nice touch. Next was the buttermilk chicken sandwich. It was tasty but was definitely was on the dry side. Came here for the boyfriend's birthday and our evening here was spectacular! I loved the ambiance of this restaurant, the service was amazing, and the food was absolutely delicious! For appetizers, we ordered the West Coast oysters and blistered shishito peppers. The oysters were very fresh and the crispy quinoa mixed with the shishito peppers gave an nice extra crunch to the dish. We came here for their slow roasted prime rib (only available on Sundays) and it was absolutely amazing. The portions are quite large and I wasn't able to finish mine! For our entrees we had the mushroom risotto (with an egg on top...i love their egg additions, it makes everything THAT much more delicious)- it was the best risotto i've EVER had, the mushroom flat bread (also amazing), and the seafood pot pie (which only really consisted of fish and mussels- nothing special compared to the rest of the meal, but definitely not bad) We had to try the famous toasted marshmallow banana milkshake for dessert and it was out of this world. The hotel resturant is tucked away in the back of the lobby entrance area. It feels very comfortable yet still formal enough for a business meeting. There are nice plants all around and everything was clean. The service was great! The server was very nice and knowledgeable about the menu and the wait staff comes and brings you utensils and refills when needed. The food was very tasty and the appetizers did not disappoint!!! Cauliflower Buffalo bites, shiitake peppers, deviled eggs etc, amazing! The only issue was that they forgot the grilled onion that was supposed to be served with my steak. For $54 you would think they would remember to plate everything. It tasted great, however some people at our table had issues with the temperature of the steak. We decided to dine here for a double 1 year wedding anniversary date with my husband and one of my best friends and her husband. We were married a month apart and decided to go to a concert at the bowl and have dinner beforehand in celebration of our anniversaries. We chose to go to Finch & Fork, we had all eaten at this restaurant before and had positive experiences but we are so happy we chose to go here on this particular occasion as they were able to make the evening even more special for us. Everything we ordered was great. We started with appetizers, which included the mac and cheese, the stone fruit and ricotta flatbread, the artisan cheeseboard, and the raw oysters along with drinks like the do or do not, which is a scotch drink with blood orange liqueur, and the buzz around town, which was a lavender, honey, and blackberry cocktail. All of these choices were amazing. For our entrees we ordered the kale salad, the chicken, and NY strip steak. Every member of our party agreed that everything tasted great. My salad was tart from the dressing with just enough creaminess from the feta and my husband said his steak was cooked perfectly. The desserts really made our night special. I had called in in advance to see if it were possible to have some writing on a dessert and the restaurant did not know at first if they would be able to but they came through in such a big way and it meant a lot to all of us!!! The desserts couldn't have been more perfect if I had picked them out myself!!! So so yummy and presented beautifully!!! My friend and I came here for brunch this past Saturday and had a pretty good experience. When we first walked in, it took a little bit for us to be greeted. The ambiance was nice. It was cozy and well decorated. The service was pretty good and our server was nice. The food was very good and came out pretty fast. I had the Huevos Rancheros with cotija cheese, salsa roja, beans, crispy tortillas, avocado and two eggs over easy. The flavor was really good and the tortillas were the perfect level of crispiness. Part of the egg was slightly underdone, but overall it was really good! My friend got the short rib and sweet potato hash. I tasted it and it was excellent. Finch and Fork is a restaurant in a high-end hotel serving expensive food. I'm not "in" on its 4-star Yelp rating, as I found it to be merely average, especially at its price point. The "Potato & Leek Soup" was competently-prepared, delivering the basic earthy and salty flavors you want in a potato-based cream soup - and I enjoyed the vinegary poblano relish topping they put on it as a nice foil for its heavy cream broth. However, I want any cup of soup I spend more than $10 for to be more refined and fancy, and to have some special rare ingredient if no meat or seafood. If I'm paying nearly eleven bucks for a vegetarian soup made of cream, leeks, and potatoes, the restaurant is making a killing off of me. So surely the service must be appropriately fussy and proactive? Nope, not really. This isn't the type of place that's going to fold your serviette when you excuse yourself to the washroom. The "Sea Scallops," again were well-prepared with a decent sear though not exactly filling - a miniscule entrée for $33. Also, the scallops themselves were not as clean-tasting as I'd expect, they were at the "stew scallops" stage in my opinion. Nonetheless, I felt this dish could have been improved with a greater presence of the chorizo vinaigrette and less relish. Admittedly, I was weary of the relish from eating something very similar on my soup appetizer. Overall, I wasn't very impressed. As a hotel restaurant, I'd eat here if I were staying on the property, but this is not destination dining. Definitely a fan of this place. Came to the Santa Barbara area for the Farmers Market originally, but as my wife and I were getting hungry I went a searching for a good place to eat. Coming in you'll notice that the restaurant has a nice, clean, and laid back kind of vibe to it. We loved the decor. The lay out is interesting as they have this cool area in the front where one could have brunch with a lot of friends, and the back end is where I think the main sitting is. Overall the food here was equally as good as the decor. I would definitely come back again. Last night we walked in and easily got a table for three at 8pm. They have a trendy vibe here, and they are located in the same building as The Canary hotel. Although it is more of a nice adult restaurant, they were great with my 5 year old. Our waiter Russ was great, and we were very happy with our meal. Here is what we ordered: - Brussels Sprouts - $10 - really delicious, it was roasted with bacon and had a sweet flavor to it. - West Coast Oysters, half dozen - $18 - two new types of oysters I have not tried before and I loved hem both. They were flavorful and meaty. - Rainbow Trout - $25 - nicely pan fried, topped on grains with some greens - Crusted Sea Scallops - $32 - nicely cooked to a "medium rare". There was a lot of the dish - scallops, grapefruit, avocado, corn, radish - but it all worked really well. It was a beautiful dish as well. However, I think the staff apparel was even more disappointing....our waiter was wearing pajama bottoms! I have to review today's Easter Brunch at Finch & Fork. At first we were disappointed we could only order off of the Easter Brunch menu, but boy were we about to be surprised. There was a mix up with our order which resulted in our food being given to another party, so we had to wait for them to remake it. Both our waiter and the server/busboy came to apologize, and then they said they would comp our entire bill (except for our mimosas). They were so incredibly professional and kind, and my whole family was blown away at the level of service. I can't remember the last time a restaurant didn't just say "sorry," but went above and beyond like this. I've had excellent meals at Finch and Fork but Happy hour really blows me away at this place. The Ancho Sunshine cocktail is the bomb. A Smoky mezcal based cocktail that also sports Campari and the spicy liqueur Ancho Reyes. Very Highly recommended. The F&F mule is also a solid selection that gives a more citrusy tone to the traditional mule cocktail. Can't say enough about the Finch and Fork as a happy hour venue, great location, excellent vibe and fantastic people. Oh and the bites are right on the mark too!
