Advanced reservation made weeks ago by my friend. Fortunate, for the Finch and Fork was turning interested parties away. We had no idea what an amazing chef was cooking for us. Every single taste amazed us. Beautiful restaurant in what appears to be a beautiful hotel. And we also had a perfect server who made great suggestions. Appealing cocktail list. We tried the Figuero, with fig infused bourbon, and the Witch's Back, an innovative and tasty concoction with gin, Strega, pamplemousse rose and a fresh sprig of Rosemary. Also sampled Santa Barbara Pinot noir at a reasonable $10 per glass. All these very good, especially the Witch. Enjoyed with their complimentary pickled veggies. Started by sharing their chicken wing app and Brussels sprouts side. The maple-honey tangy sauce on the wings made them exceptional. If you are a wings person, we highly recommend. Delicious sprouts too with another sauce and nuts. We ate even the left-over sauce with the serving spoon. Entrees: all superb. The scallops looked and tasted so California! With grapefruit and avocado. The salmon with its greens and sauce was unlike any I have ever ordered. Short ribs--again melt in your mouth but uniquely seasoned and sauced. Did I say sauce again? Reservations recommended. No Rooftop. Rooftop is only for hotel guests but its not a part of Finch & Fork. Photos in yelp are gimmick to draw you. We ordered Mimosa Madness, and its a $1 refill. Passing through SB and stayed at the boutique Kimpton Canary Hotel where this restaurant/pub resides. Late lunch 30 min before kitchen closes from first shift. Friendly attentive staff, lunch special was thinly sliced prime rib sandwich with garlic fries. Kaiser like roll was nicely toasted with lbutter and had the perfect blend of dough softness with outer crunch. Delicious medium rare cuts of beef well seasoned and a hint of rosemary finishing taste. Thin cut garlic fries also displayed the perfect balance of outer crispness and inside pillowy texture. Garlic was not overpowering and complemented the protein. However, the very savory components of this entree could have benefited from some form of acid. Came to Santa Barbara with some friends for a little getaway and we tried Finch & Fork for brunch. Every time I've been to SB before, I always missed trying this place out. It's a solid 3.5 stars. The outdoor seating on the rooftop was lovely, and the food was good but didn't wow me. I also appreciate that there's something on the menu for everyone here! Located in the Kimpton Canary hotel just off the main State Street stretch, they have opened up the rooftop for service. It has lovely views of the mountains/forest and the ocean and on a beatiful sunny day, it was a real treat! Their brunch menu is small but solid, with a couple of vegetarian options. Drinks-wise, they have a mimosa deal where the first mimosa you order is $14, all orders after are $1, which is a good deal! They also had a vodka cranberry-type drink for brunch as well. Myself and my friend got the eggs benedict, our other friend got the burger. We also each got sides of garlic fries. The eggs benedict was okay, it was like avocado toast with a poached egg on top. The portion was sizeable. My friend raved about the burger and for a brief second, I regretted being vegetarian for Earth Month, haha! Cutest spot and Hotel in place of the Restaurant. Menu is super small and it seems like the Hotel is based off Brunch and Dinner but what they had on the Menu seemed good for a bite. The Burgers are pretty known and the Fries sounded real good with the Aioli Sauce for sure. I had the Fried Chicken and it was pretty good, just wish it was a bit less greasy and more dry. Fries were pretty herby but good. But what got the 3 and not 4 or 5 Stars is the Service, they truly lagged it and half way through the Meal I wanted to Order another thing on the Menu or extra pickles but they never did check up unfortunately. read more

The fat in our drinks was better than the fat in our food. Aesthetically, the dishes were plated nicely, however some of the execution fell short. DUCKHUNTER OLD FASHIONED 2.0 = my first cocktail ever with duck fat-washed bourbon! It was silky, muted the usual sharpness when alcohol first hits your tongue, and allowed the flavor to linger with a pleasant aftertaste. DEVILED EGGS = beautiful presentation with a pink exterior. Unique twist with a small shred of trout. Tasty, but pricey at $2 per half-egg. SHORT RIB & SWEET POTATO HASH = tender beef with sweet potato cubes, topped with fried eggs. A layer of chimichurri was distracting and I would've enjoyed this dish more without it. Most noticeably, there was a large pool of grease at the bottom of the bowl. ROASTED PORK BELLY BENEDICT = the eggs were poached perfectly and the hollandaise was creamy with a kick. Unfortunately, the main part of the dish, the pork belly, was a let-down. One slice was all fat, the other slice was 75% fat. I recognize that pork belly is a fatty meat, but did not expect to get only the fat layer; the sauce was a veil for these inferior cuts. IMAGINE YOUR EGGS BENEDICT TOPPED WITH BLUBBER SLICES. We dined during an off-peak hour, mid-afternoon on a Saturday. Dining room was mostly empty, so we had very attentive service. Could've been a 5-Star review but I guess we came in at 8:30, and our waiter was ready to go home right when we sat down. He did make some good suggestions on the appetizer plates. The Street Corn was delicious and had freshly roasted corn with a jalapeño cream, Cotija cheese, spices and crushed corn nut top. Lobster Pappardelle had a saffron cream and tons of lobster meat -- hand cut pasta was al dente A+. Mushroom Flatbread had a mix of trumpet and assorted mushrooms, kale pests and ricotta salata-- easily shared by 2-3 people. Braised Short Rib was cooked perfectly, but the plate's parsnip purée with cauliflower fell short. Ribs needed something more substantial that cut through the richness. Mushrooms? Potato? Veg? -- Luckily, Brussel Sprouts saved the day with toasted almonds, balsamic gastric and smoked bacon. Beautiful dining room. Bar had a separate menu that some were having in the dining room. I came here once before for brunch and remember it being pretty good. It's been a few years, we came for dinner. We had early reservations since we just volunteered for two days straight at the Santa Barbara Triathlon. The hostess was a bit rude. She told us to come back in 10 minutes because they were not sitting anyone yet but then a server came up and walked the two reservations after us to seats. She then told us she would sit us. She was not very pleasant to some others that came in after. Maybe it was the end of her shift as another woman replaced her after about 30. The veggies for the appetizers and main course were absolutely amazing and fresh. They were the stars. The main dishes were good. My partner got the pork chops. They were just so slightly over cooked. The polenta and mole, great, although overall the dish screamed fall verse summer. I got the catch of the day and it was completely over cooked. We had to send it back. The second attempt was much better. Again the veggies on both stellar. I could have eaten just that. We got a peach dessert. It was mediocre. It looked a little like a Child's art project. Peaches cut chunky and thin. Still ok. Was hoping for more flavor being in season. Waitress was wonderful. Not sure I would have ended up here had I not been staying at the Canary, but I'm glad I did. I ordered a couple of their drinks, all of which were delicious (I particularly enjoyed the Captain Jack Sparrow). The happy hour sliders were quite good, but honestly the best thing I ordered from here was the kale salad with chicken. The dressing is really, really good, but the croutons are honestly the star. They must make them in house, and they do a damn good job of it. I know it's odd to say that your favorite aspect of a restaurant was croutons, but there it is. They will also do food and drink to go if you're at the hotel, so you can take your drink (and salad) up to the pool if you'd like, and which I highly recommend. read more

Dinked around with my BFF until the day was more than half over... at which point I was too hungry to think straight. Menu at F&F looked mouth-watering... alas, we arrived during the dreaded "foodless hour" -- the pause between lunch service and dinner service, during which many kitchens close. We had a greatly truncated menu, available in the bar -- but the burger with bacon and fig jam was perfectly medium rare and juicy, served on a lovely brioche bun with crisp hot fries. They had hot coffee, which was good quality, and which I badly needed. And their cocktail list was full of creative dreams and whimsy... I couldn't resist the habañero hibiscus margarita, which went down like a summer holiday with just enough spice to make for interesting retelling. Lovely! I hadn't realized the joint was attached to a hotel -- might explain the exorbitant price tag. Omg! This place had really delicious food and I am so glad I came here. We ordered the tuna banh mi, tuna salad, kale salad, and the tacos. The banh mi was my favorite. It was so flavorful and the tuna was perfect with the pickled vegetables. The side of fires were so good! They had hints of Rosemary with it which added so much flavor in depth to the simple fries. The tacos were really flavorful too. I would say use the sauce sparingly because it is extremely spicy. The kale salad was really good and tasted perfect with the dressing. From the moment that you walk in and are seated, all of the decor and even the water cups (repurposed wine bottle bottoms) were all so cool. You definitely know that you are in a wine town with a restaurant like Finch & Fork. Pickled Deviled Eggs - 4/5 The hubby loves eggs, deviled eggs, and all things tangy and tasty. It was so cool to try the pickled eggs and the flavors combined were good. The smoked trout was a nice addition. Short Ribs with Sweet Potato Hash - 4/5 I totally loved the fried egg on top and totally expected the sweet potatoes to be similar to hash browns, but they were prepared differently and still delicious. I liked this dish a lot and am still salivating thinking about it. Lox and Bagel - 3.5/5 I wasn't a fan of the sweet jam/spread that accompanied the dish, but everything else was what you would expect for lox and bagel. Overall the service was nice and the dining experience was great for lunch. I would recommend Finch & Fork if you are visiting Santa Barbara and are looking for a nice spot to eat. We came here for brunch on Sunday morning. It really is the cutest little restaurant. We devoured three orders of pork belly eggs benedict because whats better than pork belly, avo, and poached eggs? Party not that great, dj music (which is fine, ) but no Irish music , dj playing more what I think was 90's maybe some 80's music, what? It's St Patrick's Day! This restaurant is located on the corner, in a hotel. I have eaten here twice. Last time, I had the pork belly breakfast. This morning, I had the huevos rancheros, which are placed upon two large, round, crisp tortillas. Even though it's the same menu, they have actually improved the taste of the food since the last time I visited. The coffee is strong, but I always add sugar and cream. Water is served in an apothecary bottle. The hip and modern decor and atmosphere is conducive to an enjoyable meal. They have fresh flowers on every table. The waiters and waitresses are on top of it. There is free 75 minute street parking. The restroom is located downstairs, as it is part of the hotel. Very nice. Wonderful service. Came here for brunch with friends and made the reservation for the wrong date, but they were accommodating and were able to seat us almost immediately. Wish I could tell you our server's name, but he was absolutely phenomenal. A truly beautiful restaurant with a combination of extremely talented chefs, well trained service, and a lovely ambiance to top it off. The dinner selections are, dare I say, show stopping. I had the salmon, and it was heavenly. It was paired with very flavorful Beluga lentils, well cooked asparagus, sprinkles of capers (and not like an over the top amount of them), shaved turnips, and covered in a lovely peppercorn hollandaise sauce. Finch & Fork really is a cool place to grab a bite to eat. Details: Lunch on Friday, June 27th with my hubby on son. We stopped on our way back to L.A. from the Central Coast. It was showing a rating of 4 1/2 stars and all the photos looked pretty darn good. Food: 4/5 Stars My hubby and I decided to split the F&F Burger ($15) which comes with fries. They gladly accomodated us with our request to change the regular fries for garlic and herb fries. We also got a larger portion of fries to split for a minimal charge. We both loved the burger and fries. My son ordered the special for Fridays which was the Crispy Market Fish Sandwich ($15). He devoured that in record time. Atmosphere: 4/5 Stars I really liked the decor and this restaurant is on the bottom floor of the Canary Hotel which is just beautiful. The booth that we were seated at was very comfortable and I really liked the interior. To get to the restrooms you have to go downstairs into the hotel and I loved all the vibrant colors. Apparently, the hotel has a roof top pool and they allow dogs who get beds and other little treats. Service: 4/5 Stars Our server was quick to bring us water, take our order, bring our lunch and check promptly. The hostess was quick to seat us as well. Parking: 4/5 Stars We parked in the structure to the east of the hotel and had free parking for less than two hours I believe. The sweet potato hash, while very tasty, was dry. It was a little too dry. The dish will run you close to $20. Would I order this again? Maybe. Hit up their Happy Hour M-F 4-6. Yes! A Friday HH. The menu changes but you can't beat the $10, Two Bit Burger and $7 Mules. If they bring the spareribs or spicy peppers back, dive in! Brunch offers up a bottomless Mimosa option for $10 + $1 each refill on the weekends from 8-2:30 and will go a long way, my friend. The only real tough thing about going to Santa Barbara is deciding where to eat, right? There are a handful of good options, do you want casual divey Mexican food, seafood or a sit-down restaurant. What condition will you be in when you arrive for your rezzie? I knew we'd be out wine tasting for the day and then making our way back down the coast, so something about being out all day made a couple Montecito options a bit less desirable, especially since my other half surely wasn't in a tie, to which I asked him why he has an amazing Hermes tie from me that he rarely wears ;) but that's besides the point though. Here at Finch & Fork you can pretty much get away with wearing whatever you want. It's not a super casual restaurant but there definitely doesn't appear to be a dress code suggestion of any sort. We stopped in for dinner with a reservation and we seated at a comfy booth beside high table top seating which quickly became a bit loud once a large party of college kids was seated. We shared the deviled eggs with smoked trout. I really like deviled eggs but these didn't really win me over, for someone who doesn't necessarily care for "simple" when it comes to food, I think these were a tad too jazzed up for my taste. They weren't bad, but not my fav. We shared the roasted beet salad, which had golden beets and red beets which is always a plus in my book since I love both and can't really understand why you'd do one without the other :) This dish was very nicely done and I'd definitely recommend it. I had the sea bass which was quite filling for a fish dish and very tasty, served with brussel sprouts, sweet potatoes which may be nice puréed but fine cubed. I also tried a little bite of the Sunday special, Pot Roast which was ok but I don't care for a lot of meat so this isn't a dish I'd ever order. The cauliflower skillet could have been a tad bit warmer but carried great taste from the lemon and capers. We oddly skipped dessert which pretty much never occurs but I think this was due to how filling our dishes were. Service was great and the food came out really quickly from the kitchen. There are plenty of public parking lots but this restaurant is located within a Kipton hotel so I'm sure valet may also be an option if you'd like. read more

Dinner doesn't start until 5:30 but is worth the wait. Their "punch" comes with fresh fruit and mason jars, The garlic fries come with a delicious garlic sauce and the deviled eggs are dyed in beet juice/topped with crispy lox. The show stopper was the sweet, fall off the bone ribs. The prime rib was flavorless but the mushroom risotto with a runny egg was amazing. I wish we had more time for dessert! read more

Cute for a date or girls night out. 4 star: salmon with pork belly hash. Good was very tasty but portion a tiny bit smaller than expected for a 27$ entree. Nonetheless, was delicious. 3 star: mixed salad (10$) average salad with not a ton of taste but light and perfect to compliment a heavier entree. 3 star: garlic and herb fries (7$). The traditional aioli was fantastic and fries were fresh and crispy. However, there was not much garlic or herbs on our fries. I was disappointed they didn't have the chili ribs tonight. Finch and Fork has really evolved into an essential part of Santa Barbara fine dining scene since James Siao took over the kitchen. It is much better than the typical hotel restaurant. Service is good, the atmosphere is comfortable, the bar turns out high quality cocktails, and the food is always delectable. I had dinner here on Friday and enjoyed the whole experience. Thick hearty pork chop was grilled to medium doneness so it was juicy and tender, paired with sweet butternut puree, and warm spicy ginger flavor crumbles. Dry packed scallops were seared to a silky medium rare, placed on top of corn salsa and guacamole, further enhanced with grapefruit sections and chorizo vinaigrette. The salt and pepper chicken wings could use a little more salt. The glaze was the same as the glaze in pork ribs and pickled watermelon dish (available during the summer months), sweet, spicy, and savory. A few pieces of pickled celery cuts through the greasiness of fried food. The mac and cheese was made with mornay sauce and bacon, topped with extra cheese so it baked up crunchy and bubbling. My favorite dessert is the toasted banana shake, this and the budino from Olio are two of my favorite desserts in Santa Barbara. The only miss of the night was the sticky toffee cake. It was dry as if it was heated a few minutes too long. The menu changes with season. I have had the pork cheek with gnocchi, grilled ribs with pickled watermelon, sunchoke smear with smoked salmon, and grilled steak with chimichurri sauce. They were all delicious and the only less than stellar dish I had here was the halibut in a mountain of frisee, which was axed from the menu and hadn't returned since the early days of Finch and Fork. read more

I can't review the food but i can review the treatment. I had reservations for Friday night, for dinner, for 4 people. I called ahead to make sure we could bring a service dog. I was told, YES but we'd need to eat in their lounge -- which wasn't a problem for us, in theory. When we arrived, the lounge was super noisy and there were only 2 two tops, no table for 4. The dining room was almost empty. Also, my mom has a hearing aid so the noise in the lounge was terrible for her. I asked the hostess if we could seat in the dining room. She asked: "What is the disability reason for having the dog?" I was shocked she asked. She then explained that depending on the disability, they could make an exception but she'd need to speak with the manager. The manager then told us we'd need to sit at the two, two tops, in the lounge. I explained the situation -- we had reserved a table for 4, not to mention the lounge was too noisy for my mother. He didn't apologize for the two separate tables and simply told us there were no other options. We left and had a wonderful dinner at a nearby restaurant called Blackbird, where the service was excellent and the food was delicious. I will never go back to Finch & Fork. read more

I came here for lunch today . From the hostess to our server everything was totally on point and I never felt pressure despite here before. Our server knew the nuances of the menu as well as house made sauces that could complement out meal, totally has sampled the menu well herself . We have 2 burgers the house F&F was juicy, full of flavor and it was complemented perfectly with the house horseradish sauce, jam and garlic fries was a nice touch. Next was the buttermilk chicken sandwich. It was tasty but was definitely was on the dry side. I asked for a house made hot sauce was given the habanero based sauce which was excellent which sort of made up for it.
