Came in on Saturday with a broken rim after hitting potholes on the way to the Grand Canyon and everyone was super friendly and tried their absolute best to get it fixed and to get us back on the road. It was super hard getting a new rim for us because it was the weekend and it wasn't in stock anywhere around and they tried every possible option to still get us the part as soon as possible. They also took the time to explain to us in detail what was wrong and to make different recommendations before fixing everything and getting us back on the road. Absolutely never again will I bring a vehicle to them for repair. I'm extremely hesitant to take any vehicle to a dealer for repair as I've always heard horror stories, but within the Westfalia community, Findlay has always been described as "straight shooters" and "good folks". I'll preface this too with a very positive experience last year when I had the eurovan act up and dropped by for a quick inspection. First off - I was charged 30 mins. of labor for a battery replacement. A battery. The same thing I've swapped in an autozone parking lot in 5mins. I agreed to a battery replacement because they told me it was failing, and as it's AZ, our batteries rarely last 2yrs - fair enough. They then expanded they can't do a diagnostics on the car unless the battery is replaced....hmmm. Never have heard that before, but sure - batteries die, go for it. I needed the car diagnosed. The vehicle was in there for an ignition repair. I needed it reprogrammed due to an ignition cylinder failure as a replacement had been done by another mechanic who admitted he was out of his element with this VW. Trusting what I've heard, I assumed Findlays techs. would have my best interest in mind. What I got though was a call saying the vehicle was ready on 5/3, but no warning that my vehicle now requires 2 different keys to operate it. That's neat to find out nearly 3 days after the repair (invoice shows completion date of 4/30) and driving up from Phx. In addition to this - a repair that also apparently took an hour to do - I had to call nearly 3 days later to see where they were at with the car. What really burnt the bridge for me though was them telling me I needed my auxiliary battery replaced to diagnose a passenger window issue. The auxiliary battery on eurovans has an isolator so that the aux. system cannot talk to the main electrical system outside of charging off the alternator. That was the line in the sand. I was getting hustled due to dealer shenanigans. The manager apologized profusely stating there was miscommunication between his tech. to which I appreciate, but call B.S.. Their reputation for me is right in line with every other dealer stereotype. Avoid their repair facility, or pay the cost. Westy owners, stay away. read more

I brought my 2006 vw jetta tdi in for service. Had a check engine light I was leaking oil and needed my glow plugs replaced. 3 days of having my car only a oil change was done with no updates from my service advisor . After complaining to a supervisor the repairs were finally given some priority . $3000 later it runs just as poor as when I brought it in. I'm just $3000 lighter and had no car for 9 days. Brought my Audi in for an undercarriage inspection and alignment, as I was a victim of the dreaded Flagstaff potholes. Both passenger tires destroyed. I made my appointment online and arrived right on time. Went to the service desk where I was met by Mariah. She did everything right!!! Took my VW as check engine light was on. code indicated air leak in one or more of about 7 areas. They came back stating all needed to be replaced. What are the odds? One of the things was the head gasket. Even though it had no visible signs of leaking (which is one way to tell if it's bad). When I asked, after a $200 diagnostic, exactly where the leak was, they said they didn't know. Other auto repair shops said I should have a "smoke test" done, to pinpoint the leak. Findlay said they don't do that. so for $200, I got told my system was leaking. No kidding, I knew that when I brought in in! Then they said I needed new spark plugs and an air filter. I had just done that a week prior. They said I needed new front outer CV boots, as they weee torn or leaking. A second opinion later showed that the boots were pretty worn, but not torn or leaking. They told me come back in 6-12 months to do it then. Such an untrustworthy group. Sad, as I always try to trust dealerships. The problem was 1 hose. Quick fix, engine light off, and I didn't do the $4,000 with of repairs Findlay Flagstaff wanted me to do. A close look at all their reviews appear (in my opinion) to be fake. Take your VW elsewhere. I could not be more happy with and grateful for the service team at this dealership! I was driving from Los Angeles to Dallas and started having major car issues in the middle of the drive, at night. I walked in to the dealership without an appointment first thing in the morning and the gentleman at the front desk was kind, helpful and communicative. The team figured out what was wrong with my car and had me on my way in less than 3 hours. Since I had no idea what was wrong with my car, I had no idea how much it would cost and expected a huge bill, but was pleasantly surprised that it was much less than I anticipated. The first time I dealt with them was because our brand new Atlas was sold to us, by Earnhardt Volkswagen of Gilbert, AZ, with a cracked transmission fluid seal. Findlay figured this out after two other Volkswagen dealerships told us there was nothing wrong with our vehicle. But yet our vehicle would not move at times after stopping at a traffic light. Recently driving down from Sedona had an issue with my Audi Allroad. After running codes at Autozone shot over to VW and met Jonathan. We explained that we were en route to New Mexico and in a jam. He worked us into the shop, did the diagnosis and quickly determined that we blown an ignition coil. 90 minutes later we were back on the road to Santa Fe. No stress, GREAT service, friendly folks and so accommodating. While waiting, we shopped the new Atlas Crosssport. The service operation at Findlay VW is the best I've ever experienced. I bought a 2015 Beetle a few months ago with 45K miles, love the car, going through all the little things to make it perfect. I've had Findlay fix a few small items, all done under warranty, all good. On my last visit I asked about the battery. It's a 2015 model. It's Arizona. It was working fine. The battery could be 4 years old. I was stuck once with dead battery in 115 degree weather. Not as much fun as its sounds. They looked at it, they said it was an OEM original battery. I scheduled the replacement for a month later, today. I waited for the job in the lobby. I asked for ride for my wife to go to the local mall. Oops, no courtesy van on Sat, but the Finance Manager Jeff offered to drive the van. She's off to buy shoes while I'm waiting to pay the bill. I'm willing to pay the dealer "tax" for this service because I'm not up to speed on the basic programming for this model and my el-cheapo Bluetooth gadget (reads basic error codes only) won't help much if something goes wrong. OK, so it's $250, but it's worth the peace of mind to me get the newest car in the family just right. After 20 min or so the service writer Jon tells me that when they pulled the battery the Tech read the date code and found that the battery is only a few months old. No replacement needed. Whoa, hold up. I walked in expecting the job to get done and pay the bill. They had it out already. No way I could have known. They could have just done it. When the tech was finishing up he noticed that the rear camera actuator wasn't working properly. That's covered by the bumper-to-bumper warranty. That's an expensive part, requiring disassembly of the inside covers of the rear hatch. The bottom line is that I got a lot of honesty from Findlay VW. Oh yes, also an expensive actuator and some labor. I can buy those myself if I have to. But how do you buy honesty? That has to be freely given. The total I spent for the day is $34 for a new pair of sandals for my wife. These guys are the best. read more

On a road trip through Flagstaff, an indicator light came on in our Audi A6. Knowing that VW is a "sibling " car to Audi, we stopped by to see if they could read the code and let us know if if it was safe to continue. Everyone in the Service department was beyond helpful. They checked the codes and determined that we could wait until reaching the dealer in Dallas providing us with printouts of what they read. They offered us coffee while waiting, made friendly conversation, topped off all of the fluids in the engine and charged us NOTHING! We drove away with smiles and waves and wishes for a great trip. Maybe the cold weather has affected their thinking. After multiple emails, and a dismal experience at another dealership, I decided to take the plunge and drive to Findlay, about two hours away. I had been communicating with a salesman about a particular VW on their website. The color was important to me, though in hindsight I should have stated that more. When I arrived the salesman greeted me in the parking lot. Good start, I thought. I believe I was the only customer there looking at cars (not there for service). Their website showed the car in one color, while the car in stock was another color. To be fair, in small print on the webiste, it did contradict itself and state a differsnt color for the car (but which do you believe?). The thing I don't get, and the manager had no answer for, is if a stock image was used for this car (most cars on the website did NOT use stock images), why not use a stock image in the correct color? Why, if the car has been on the lot for MONTHS, why not take pictures and describe it accurately? Maybe because the color in stock wasn't selling as well as the image they used? Very frustrating. He seemed to care, silly me. He kept pushing the one on the lot, which I can understand. I had showed up ready to buy the car advertised on their website, with title in hand. I asked if he could swap it out, and he said he'd check. Turns out a car in the color I wanted was in Las Vegas. He said he called them, though now I have my doubts. He said they weren't responding, but he'd make a great deal on the one on the lot. As he said it may take some time, I went for lunch. On my return he sid he still hadn't heard back. We came to a price/trade for the deal. As it was starting to get late, I had to head back. He said he would call me back with the answer from Vegas as soon as he found out. Expensive (should be expected) but also slow. I brought my car in on a Monday and was told to expect it by the end of the day. By about 4 o'clock I still hadn't heard anything so called. There was apparently a difficulty that required another part. I was told the part would be in by Wednesday. I heard nothing Wednesday again til the afternoon. I tried to call multiple times and finally had to contact Sales and ask someone to walk over and notify Service. I was told the part hadn't come yet. The *following Monday* I still hadn't heard anything. I called in around early afternoon and was told the part had just arrived. I did receive my car that day, but it had been a week. Of course we all know dealership service is expensive, but that was a lot harder to swallow having been without a car for a whole week and given no idea what timeline to expect. I knew I shouldn't gone through the dealer. And won't be doing so again. read more

Came in for a Jetta TDI listed on their website. I was buying a work car as my RAM 2500 was eating me alive in diesel fuel. I worked with Robert (there are two here, not Robert Apple, I will get to him shortly) and had no real issues. He was new and had to check on things a lot. My time is valuable so it got moderately frustrating, but that is part of being new. I was happy that he did not just give me some BS answer if he didn't know, he took the time to find the answer, so honestly what sounds like a negative is a positive. I came in one night, drove the car, came in the next day and took it home. Robert was good at following up for a couple of weeks after purchase. No complaints. Next up, the second Robert, Robert Apple. This dude knows more about Volkswagens than the Volkswagen engineers know. A week in I began to get frustrated messing with my voice control of my stereo, he went well beyond the call to get it taken care of. Next time I am purchasing a VW (thus far I love this car, when I hit 100k in two years I will definitely buy another) I will be seeing him. Last, but not least, a small negative. I have great credit (over 800) and I really do not like inquiries. Dealerships like to shop rates, not my style. I was promised that the dealer would not run the credit, they would send it straight to VW. That promise was not kept, my credit was hit twice when purchasing the car. It is what it is, I cannot change it so I am not worried, but when I jokingly brought it up in another visit the finance guy discredited my claim. I know it was hit twice, I see two inquiries, and one CLEARLY says Findlay on it. Not a good practice to talk to your customer as if they do not understand when they clearly do. Would this break a future sale, absolutely not, but lets keep it forthright. I do not need to hear what I want to hear, I need to hear what is really going to happen. read more

I recently moved to Flagstaff and the one thing I was very concerned about was there is not a Audi Dealer / Service Dept. in town. Well my worries were no more when I found Findlay VW! I had a check engine light on and took my Q5 in for them to check out. They diagnosed the problem and arranged a service appointment for when I had to leave town for a few days. They provided a shuttle service to and from home so there was NO inconvenience on my part at all. Jonathan in the service department is absolutely awesome to work with. I'm giving this place two stars just because their regional manager called me to try and work out a deal with me to get my car repaired while I was living in Arizona. So back in November, I was in need of a repair. My Jetta has a torn dust boot below the drivers side, and driving it across multiple states may have made it worse. I know that car repairs are not cheap, but the quotes I had received on the parts were about $60. I walked into this shop, and the mechanics guy immediately tried to take advantage of me. He was very pushy, and when I told him about the quote I had received, he told me that wasn't even possible for that part. By this moment, I had received two quotes, one from a Volkswagen dealership in Everett, Washington, and another from one of my friends who works for Mercedes. $60 and $200. This dealership tried to put me out $1000. On the paperwork, the mechanic wrote that "I didn't know what I was talking about" and pretty much called me stupid to my face. I'm so happy I don't live in Flagstaff anymore, because I won't have to get my car serviced by these guys. read more

We purchased a used Lexus from Rob at Findlay VW a couple of months ago. Most dealerships are very cordial during the purchase, as they were, but it is very rare that that relationship continues after the deal is done. Findlay VW is one of the BEST, if not THE BEST, dealership I have ever dealt with. And I have bought a lot of cars in my day. Rob, Kirk and Neil are straight shooters and great guys to deal with. The service department is the best I have ever seen - I would almost eat off the floors out there. Free coffee and donuts - what more could you ask for? Many thanks to you guys, and especially to VW tech Alex. I was on a summer road trip and had just had a VW dealer in California change the oil on my Rabbit before hitting the road. On day two of our road trip I randomly checked the fluids and realized that the VW dealer at home had overfilled the engine oil. I was going through Flagstaff on day 3 and was relieved that Findlay Volkswagen was there. I was able to quickly get a walk in appointment, and Alex confirmed my fears that oil level was in fact too high and excess would have to be drained. Alex was very professional and explained that it was good that I had caught the mistake early before it did any damage to catalytic converter. He got me back on the road very quickly, with peace of mind that everything was was now within normal limits. Thank you for correcting another dealers mistake and being so accommodating! read more

I give my service advisor, Wes, 5 stars, for sure. The mechanic not so much. Here is why: I dropped my Audi off at VW for an oil change at 10am. I returned at 1pm to pick it up, and much to my surprise, it was still up in the air. I was furious. Three hours later, and my car isn't ready? Really? It was an oil change for goodness sakes. I am not one to raise my voice, but I did. Wes handled me and my temper with such kindness and understanding. Apparently the mechanic has his own ways of selling his service recommendations. It was such an inconvenience and waste of my time, but Wes made it up to me, and he was truly sorry for the inconvenience. I will absolutely continue getting my car serviced there, as I have for the past four years. read more

I took my New Beetle Convertible in to have my headlights aligned. The service writer came out immediately to assist. When I told him the issue, he simply called out a tech, who did the fix right there. No need to take it back to the bay. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes! Had check engine light on called and got appt next morning. I talked to Jon Herold very pleasant and I told him about another problem with tire pressure that SanTan VW didn't address 2 weeks prior. Check engine was a warranty fix no problem. They adjusted tire pressure on all fours and noticed wear on right side. I had them do the wheel alignment which was less then 2 hrs. Everything is going great. The waiting lounge is comfortable and all employees are always smiling and saying "hello." I would rather drive to Flagstaff from Phoenix to get my car serviced by Findlay. I just paid for my car sitting on my deck 2.5 hrs away from the dealership! On Friday I drove to flagstaff I test drove to many cars and met some" interesting" salesmen. By the end of the day I was about to give up when I finally listened To my wife and went to Findlay. Wow thank god that I did! I was met by drew who took me on a test drive while I waited for Robert. Both guys showed so much passion and excitement that I was rejuvenated and ready to look at cars. At 8:30 well past closing time I was discussing if my wife would like the car color. The sales manager said " take it home" home is 2.5 hours away I said, ok drive safe was his attitude! I have never heard of such a thing, then I asked about getting the car I drove down home, he asked Robert what he was doing Monday and they agreed to drive it to me. Who does that? Only true professionals that know what customer service really is! I dealt with 10 dealerships and this was the first that showed any interest in making me happy and a satisfied customer! My friend just stopped by, he told me he just got a new car on Friday, the dealer in st George called him said they had the car he wanted interest rate was lower than he expected and price was great, his only concern was he had never driven the car and didn't want to drive that far, the dealer said we'll bring it to your house! That was Findlay of st George! Obviously these people get it! So if you are going to give someone tens of thousands of dollars shouldn't they make it easy and enjoyable for you? Findlay does it right! Ask for Robert Apple or Andrew, they will get you in the right car with out making you feel pressured or ripped off. read more

Worst customer service experience I have ever had. Kept getting the runaround from the service department. I had to call them to check on the progress of my car three times. Finally, two days after dropping off my car they told me my car wouldn't be ready until the following week. When I told them that this was unacceptable they didn't apologize. No, they made a bunch of excuses, one of which was I didn't get my car there early enough, and they were disrespectful and condescending. There was no attempt on their part to rectify the situation. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. read more

We were passing through Flagstaff, towing our cargo trailer and stopped to refuel a couple of miles from the dealership (didn't even know they had a VW dealership in Flagstaff till then). Something had broken loose inside the filler neck and we couldn't add fuel (diesel). Fortunately we hadn't let it run down too low this time, went to the dealership and Carston diagnosed: the filler tube had something break off. He found a work around using a diesel funnel (VW accessory we didn't know existed) and what looked like a fine knitting needle to hold open the port. We drove to the nearest station, refueled then returned so he could extract the funnel. It was his personal funnel, he sold it to us and was going to buy another for himself. This will work until we can get home to St. George, UT to pick up the part we ordered from Findlay VW there. All that for the cost of the funnel at under $11. Wes in the service department was great. All in all a great experience, though car emergencies are rarely good timing. read more

Frustrating and unprofessional. That's my take on this place. I've bought a number of cars over my life and, sure, it's always something of a hassle, but this is the worst place I've been. The Sales Manager seems to be incompetent, in that everything we were told down the line turned out to be untrue. Yes, we can do that, or we can make this work...no, they couldn't. After already wasting time the salesman comes out with numbers and we are thinking "Ok, those look good," only they're fake numbers so they're meaningless. They haven't even talked to the bank yet. In fact, they spent four or five hours completely wasting our time such that when they finally got around to dealing with the banks they had to tell us the banks were closed, come back Monday. I have a VW Jetta, 2015 model. Great car. I bought it at a different VW dealership, and I'm really glad I did. It was streamlined, the salesman and sales manager were open, honest, and efficient from the start. It was a great experience. This dealership was the polar opposite of that. Avoid this place. In fact, avoid the whole family of dealerships owned by this same entity in Flagstaff. You'll save yourself both time, headaches, and the frustration of dealing with an unprofessional organization if you just go somewhere else, or, if you really want a VW, find a dealership in another town. Just took my 2006 GLI in for some open service campaigns; they took me from the dealership to work and came and picked me up when my car was done. Service manager Eric was very nice and they even explained and quoted an issue I've been having with my sun roof. Salesman Troy was also really helpful, informing me that when my current baby is ready to retire, I will be able to get a new GLI, best news ever!
