We went to Finis last night and the good thing is, we don't need to try that again. My fish & shrimp tacos were very cold, not just not hot and the prickly pear calamari was miniscule in size and very sweet. They don't give you beans or chips as they are ala carte. The place was not really neat and tidy and it was very loud so we sat outside and the view of Catalina's is great. Not a place for foodies or someone looking for atmosphere. Needs work read more

Very thankful they honored our dining club card just as it stated on the card. Some places try and give you a hard time. Atmosphere is cool and live music is nice especially on a Monday night. Our waitress was very friendly and inviting. Kinda wish they had more meals that included sides. A lot of the items are ala carte. 3 tacos with rice or fries can add up quickly. Saw a couple eating a really good looking dessert , but didn't find desserts anywhere on the menu? Our "Dining Trio (mom, my husband and I) set off to Fini's Landing at my mother's request. I didn't even know it existed! But boy, is it popular! We happened to try Fini's on a Sat. night, and it was bustling. We grabbed the last table in the main area. That gave us a great view of what was happening all around us. After eating there, I'd suggest visiting Fini's mainly for sharing drinks and snacks with family or friends. It's a very fun atmosphere -- with an airy dine-in area, a large, irregular-shaped fun bar area, an enclosed porch area and an outdoor seating area. The north wall is all windows and opens up to a great mountain view. On the food front, service was good. The server was very patient, helping my mom figure out what to choose. Gary and I got the Friday special fish fry (one serving, not all you can eat) -- a small basket with 3 pieces of crunchy ?Cod I think (some good white fish), very moist on the inside. It came with fries and a tasty tartar sauce, and very finely shredded coleslaw (excellent flavor and texture to the slaw)l. I thought it was a bit pricey for the size of the serving. Mom ordered two tacos off of the Happy Hour menu, so they were the special price of $2 each, plus an order of Tortenos (not spelling it right -- fried plantains). Those were really unique, served smashed and like round pinwheels, with a little garlic on it. Although this caters to a drinking crowd, I saw plenty of families present. I would come here to meet with friends more than to do any fine dining. I really liked the happy, upbeat energy. I had no idea Fini's existed, but half of the northwest must've been in there the night we visited! Happy Hour is definitely a draw for Fini's -- give it a go yourself! read more

Went in yesterday for lunch, evidently open only a week or so. Brand new decor, you'd never know the other joint was there (LaRocca's). And, a stunning view of the Catalina Mountains doesn't hurt the room, either! Ordered the build your own burger which was excellent. Service was great. When I requested Tabasco, she brought it and wondered if I would like to try their homemade hot sauce. I did, and it was fantastic! I am a big fan of spicy, and their's definitely delivers. Taco Tuesday is awesome! Great tacos! Shrimp, chicken, BBQ pork. You can't go wrong. Plenty of televisions if you want to catch a game, but, get there early as the parking can get a bit crowded. The service has always been great and they are accommodating to the pickiest of eaters. (On the side, like in Harry met Sally, types). The patio is pet friendly and we often take our two pooches. I actually like this place. Food is good and there is a nice view out back. My only complaint is that they are not very Keto friendly. With so many people following a low carb diet now, I wish they had more low carb options. I've told the waitress I was on Keto. Since they were out of pork rinds, I've ordered some salsa, and asked for cellery sticks and broccoli or cauliflower do dip into my salsa. She brings me carrot sticks. Ugh. She did bring me more cellery sticks after I've told her I don't want the carrots though. Ive ended up ordering a bunless burger with a side salad. Of course I was charged extra since the burger comes with fries that I didn't want, then they had croutons all over my salad when it came out. We arrived at 6:30 on a Friday night to a packed place, this was encouraging. When opening the front doors you find yourself looking at a chalkboard that states: Seat yourself...so we did...at the only empty patio table right outside the bar entrance. The band sounded good and the review I read gave me great hope for a new Happy Hour hangout, sadly I was disappointed. We had to get our own menus from the table next to us as two different servers said they would get some for us. Never happened. Then our server brought a Happy Hour menu, but offered us nothing from it. Simply stated, what can I get you to drink? My wife ordered a margarita, which was very good the first time. I ordered my usual Guinness and my oldest son ordered a Long Island Iced Tea, which he said tasted great. We were there to enjoy a relaxing drink or two and a couple appetizers. My wife ordered the Dockside Ceviche, I ordered off the Happy Hour menu and got 4 street tacos and my son ordered an entree and a Prickly Pear Calamari as an appetizer. This is where the experience took a nose dive. It was clear that the restaurant is woefully understaffed as our server did his best to keep up with the overwhelming number of tables he had to contend with, none of which seemed to be in any sort of organized section. My sons entree came out first, then my wife's meal and then 10 minutes later the calamari, which had become cold and soggy. The flavor was actually good and I would have loved to experience it freshly made and hot. My son said the food was good, but cold and my wife liked her ceviche. I, on the other hand, waited 30 min. to receive 4 corn tortillas with lukewarm ingredients, again the flavors were awesome, but not hot. It was like our food came out of the kitchen in random order and sat waiting for other dishes, at one point we were even told that the kitchen was backed up and the reason why everything was taking so long was because of that reason. We each ordered a second drink, my wife's second margarita tasted like they ran out of sweet and sour and added tonic water or club soda to top it off, the server quickly fixed it and as they finished their drinks and dinners, I still had yet to receive my beer of my meal at this point. So 30 min. to get four small tacos and a beer, seems a bit too slow for even a relaxing happy hour. Our server was friendly and the food flavors were good, but we will avoid this place at Happy Hour, try and come when there is little business and hope for the best. I really wanted to like this place as it seemed like it has huge potential. It is clear that the money is made from the bar as almost every table had a drink on it. This place is great. Service is tip-top, food is better than good, might be the best happy hour around ($2 oyster shooters $2 street tacos) 4-7pm, as well as late-night 10-12am. Excellent place to watch a game, good beer selection. Don't have clamato. What I wasn't down with was the liberal canines-on-the-patio policy. I hate the whole, look at me, aren't I neato cuz I've got my dog in a bar attitude.I don't smoke but if I did I'd have been cordoned off at Fini's--lower than dogs those smokers. The one beast refused to lay down, probably because the owner kept feeding it tacos, jumping on kids, then when the 2nd showed up it was a barko-rama. This review is for the bar. Oh what a bar it is. The bartenders are friendly and quick to fix a drink. They don't shy away from a heavy pour and were fine with a large group last minute on a Tuesday night. The patio is great and breezy and the servers are fairly attentive. Can't believe this gem is in the foothills! Most other restaurants are sleepy and a bit depressing because of the clientele. Yesterday was my first time at Finis despite living a few miles down the road for three years. The atmosphere during early dinner time was nice and relaxed. There were a lot of professionals doing happy hour but also a few younger college kids in there too. Our waitress was fast, patient with us since we had our little one with us, and very sweet. The food came out really fast and was actually very very good! (Again, I am so used to blasé foothills food). We enjoyed watching some hockey (go Pens!) and basketball before making our way back home. We can't wait to go back and hoping to make it a weekly stop! read more

My husband would be upset with me for giving Fini's only 4 stars, but I just can't do it. The location is nice. The food, however, is just OK - nothing bad about it, but nothing I would ever have a craving for. Good selection of items on the menu, so everyone can find something here. Happy Hour is pretty good, with both drink and food specials. I do have to give 5 stars to their key lime pie, though - best in Tucson that we have found. Very tart, no excess fluff on top, and a not-too-sweet granola-based crust. However, the server told us that it's not made in-house, but Fini's still gets extra points for choosing such a good pie to serve. read more

In summation, a relaxing, beachy atmosphere with a 80/20 chance of some pretty great food. And I can't forget the AMAZING view. The instant you walk in, you feel like you're in a relaxed beach bar on a nice little vacation. It's not an overwhelmingly loud, hotspot vibe, but it's not full of grandmas playing bridge, either. It's mostly just hungry adults eating good food (at a reasonable volume). The service can be hit or miss, miss especially if you come in anywhere near the final two hours of operation as you'll definitely get the death glare from the staff from having the audacity to be hungry when it comes near time to close. Annoying, as I've worked in the biz myself and that's part of life, but whatever. Just go for lunch or an early dinner. This is a GREAT place to get a casual beer after a long workday and just kick back. Like I said, the service isn't particularly warm but they'll guide you through any questions you have and make sure you have a great meal. My husband and I came here recently and had an awesome experience. When I say experience, I mean we came in and the vibe was good, the margaritas were classic and the food was satisfying. We didn't opt for an appetizer this time but the choice of meals were excellent. I got the Jamaican Jerk Chicken, which I was a little curious about since it's obviously not really along the theme of this place, but I was extremely satisfied. It came with a delicious wedge salad with a ton of flavor - cheese, chili, lime, and a few tomatoes which I typically don't even like. I devoured it. I personally think the concept of wedge salads is bizarre and that they are annoying to eat but I loved it. The chicken was incredible, though. It came with a slice of pineapple, which really added to the vacation feel. It was very true to the jerk chicken style, warm and juicy and cooked to perfection. They don't slight you here, either, as I had a giant helping of fries along with the salad and chicken. I was completely satisfied after my meal and kind of wished there was a beach to go out and lay on afterwards. My husband had an assortment of tacos - the carne asada and the la paz (beer battered cod) if I remember correctly. He said they were delicious. Two was enough to fill him up, and their taco list seems endless. Something for everyone. They even have their own hot sauces available for sale. We were extremely tempted by their assortment of house hot sauces for sale as they were EXCELLENT. Maybe next time. We left in a great mood after an excellent meal. Also note their commitment to local food sources - definitely worth supporting. The reason for the four stars instead of five is as follows - I just don't think the service is amazing, first of all. It's more of, "Hi, can I take your order, here's your check, bye." Maybe I'm high maintenance, but nobody seems that friendly or happy to be there, they don't ask you how you're doing or how you're liking your food, and I might go so far as to say they just treat you like a paycheck. Not in a bad, awful service way, but just kind of cold and distant. Not engaging, I guess. Maybe that's petty but I feel like a lot of Tucson restaurants work hard to train their servers to make their patrons feel at home, and I don't see a lot of that at Fini's. The other reason is for an experience I had ordering takeout. I came in around 9:15 (posted closing hours being midnight) for a smoked salmon app (that other Yelpers raved about) and the el perro guapo dog. I was treated like a massive inconvenience, told that they were closing soon and basically given the stink eye for even being there. Over two hours before posted closing time - unexpected. I had intended to dine in but opted for takeout for this reason. Note - thumbs down on the salmon dip. 1% salmon, 99% sour cream or mayo or whatever. Not palatable at all, unless I got a bad batch or something. The dog also came without any of the fixings and was pretty much cold when I went to eat it 5 minutes after I picked it up. Not enjoyable, so I would caution ordering the dogs as I don't think they are a star menu item. Stick to the tacos or main entrees instead and go to el guero canelo if you want hot dogs. Final notes: jerk chicken is amazing, as are the tacos. Great hotsauce selection. Lukewarm service, Amazing atmosphere. I WILL come back and I'm sure I'll have another great meal here. Fini's can get quite busy during the evening - this was a Friday at 5:30 and the place was packed. Luckily, we had a reservation for our group of 10. Fini's is not a big area - it's your typical bar type place. Their menu consists of burgers, salads, tacos, assorted appetizers, various sandwiches, and a pretty good selection from the bar. The food is above average - I would recommend the fish tacos - great flavors. Coconut shrimp off the appetizer menu is also very good and a large order. Service was very good all evening! Our table was right next to the outside door which was not ideal, but we "made due". Fini's tends to be very noisy, as usual with a bar, so you really can't talk too well across the table. I would recommend Fini's for a good bar environment with above average food. read more

Okay, so this place hasn't been open that long. I'm going to go with the previous reviewer's post that they've only been open a week or so. They DO have a website but nothing up as of yet except saying they're hiring. The service was a bit spotty. We didn't have to wait that long to get our drinks or our orders in but it wasn't that busy and our food took a bit longer then I would expect. We were there on an hour lunch and between that and waiting for the waitress to ring up our checks, we were 20 minutes late back to work. The food was decent. The menu is fairly basic, soups, salads, some appetizers and fish tacos and sandwiches. I got the 2nd sandwich option, which was bacon, cheddar and fried jalepenos. With the sandwiches, you can get a choice of beef patty, chicken breast or grilled salmon. I got the chicken breast, everyone else got burgers. The chicken was a bit dry, but the jalepenos were deliciously spicy. The bread is a yummy chebatta bread, but the chicken patty was about 2/3 the size of the bread. So you have a bit of leftover bread. However the burgers were HUGE so I would definitely get a burger next time. And everyone I asked said the burgers were awesome. The sides are either carrot slaw (from the one person who got it: it tastes like carrots) and fries. Fries are good, just same ol' fries. I'd like to go back and try this place at happy hour and maybe for lunch again after a month or so. Hopefully they'll get their kinks worked out because the building has a nice vibe and the food is pretty good. read more

Well, we had some drinks and food. I asked for the carne asada tacos. First of all, I'm mexican and I know how a good mexican carne asada taco is supposed to taste. Let me tell you. Let me start with the tortillas, the tortillas were out of the bag, no heated tortillas not even microwaved(soft tortillas) ones. The meat was okay but not enough for the tacos. And the "pico de gallo" was sweet; if you are mexican or Latin, you will know what a pico de gallo taste like. This pico de gallo tasted sweet. Good, but sweet. Pico de gallo it's not sweet at all!! This place is really good. I went there with my teenage son about six weeks ago, on his recommendation. It's a little neighborhood bar and bistro place, with ok views and reasonably nice layout and feel to it. We both had the BLT, which was terrific. The tomato and lettuce were nothing special (not bad though), but the bread was great, the pecan-smoked bacon really delicious, and the chubasco mayo amazing--really hot and with a terrific, unusual taste. All in all, a great sandwich. The mayo was so good that I used it on the fries as well, which were fine. Service fine--nothing special, but perfectly good. So this place isn't especially fancy and hanging out there is nothing amazing, but it's pleasant, and the food was really good. I'll definitely go back. read more

This place was quite a surprise and I really liked it. My son and I were searching for a place to have a late lunch after exploring the area. This place was just down the street from our hotel. It has a complete beach vibe and reminded me of places in San Diego, where I lived for a while. It was quiet and had a pretty good atmosphere. The server was very nice, although a bit soft spoken. My son ordered the BBQ chicken wings and a side of seasoned fries. He liked the wings and we both agreed that the fries were the bomb! Lightly seasoned and super crispy..and a lot of them. I love fish tacos, and it being taco Tuesday, I ordered 3: The battered, the Guyamas, and the shrimp. The shrimp taco was by far my favorite, full of flavor. The battered was my second favorite, and the dressing on it was delicious. I was disappointed with the Guyamas, as the grilled cod was quite dry and a bit overcooked. Also, the lime wedges served on the side were a bit dry, not much juice in them. If I lived in the area, I would probably go here often. read more

Pros: Chubasco Burger was excellent. Braised beef tacos delicious. Quesadillas great, Grilled Cod Pangas fresh, kid's flat bread pizza very good (adults enjoyed leftovers at home). We shared onion rings and fries which were tasty. Chips and guacamole very fresh. This visit was a late lunch and we could enjoy the conversation which is not always the case when crowded. Server was attentive and not too busy this visit. Drinks were refilled and timing was good. It was cool inside during our lunch. Cons: Onion rings were over cooked compared to previous visits. Based on one visit. Nice door as you enter, the patio and outside decor hint at the inside decor which reveals large northern window view of Pusch & Pontatoc. Nice surf decor and photos esp the pic of San O prior to the NUCULAR plant. Strong beer selection. Our waitress was nice and attentive. The waitresses are what guys term as "hot." The food however. Fini's Landing is an AMAZING place for breakfast!!! In fact, it is actually one of my FAVORITE places to eat breakfast! The menu is very Southwestern; as well as being varied and extensive. The food is always cooked to perfection! I especially like their breakfast burritos and huevos rancheros! Moreover, Fini's Landing a great place to watch the game or to meet friends. It is actually one of the ONLY places that I've been to in Tucson that isn't a "Meat Market " where a woman would actually feel fine just stopping in and dining by herself. The food is really great and the servers are terrific. Ryan is my favorite server and is not only personable, but really pays attention to what is needed at each table. The General Manager, Kenny, does an excellent job and totally sets the tone for the establishment. Also, the prices are quite reasonable - especially considering the area and the Happy Hour prices rock! I can't quite believe some of the recent reviews here such as one woman stating that "in 2 hrs., she was never offered a menu at the bar." WTH??? Can she not SPEAK??? If a bartender thinks you are only there to drink - ASK for the damn menu! If they forget, ask again or grab a waiter! Jeez! I have never had this happen to me nor have I seen it occur with others, so it just doesn't ring true, as I have been at this restaurant bar at least 20 times in the last few months. I was so impressed the first time. The food was amazing and the drinks...look out! The second time was today and I ordered a small, uncomplicated takeout order: Oysters Ensenada and a BOWL of Clam Chowder. I paid without looking at my order...it was tied up in a plastic bag but expected nothing but the best. Once I opened the bag, I saw the "bowl" of clam chowder looked more like a cup. I opened the small container and it was only half-full. The Oysters Ensenada were tasty but whoever shucked the oysters did not rinse them or the shells before proceeding to do the "Ensenada" part. They were delicious except for me picking pieces of shell from my mouth with each bite. All in all, I guess it was okay but not to the tune of $22. I guess I should have stayed and had a drink. (It's also very hot and humid inside so eat/drink outside) read more

A coupon from Arizona weekends brought me into the restaurant. Boy did I get lucky ! The shrimp tacos were great and the chicken wings where's some of the best I've had in Tucson. I have told at least 7 friends about the restaurant and they all seem to like it too. It is now my new go-to place. read more
