We decided this business was a pleasant middle class alternative as the food was high-class without the higher price. Here I felt like the poorer person I am enjoying for a reasonable price some very high-end cuisine. We developed our love of Northern Italian food and drink while one of us was stationed at Aviano Air Base in northeastern Italy, in Friuli-Venezia Giulia region, located in Aviano municipality, at foot of the Carnic Pre-Alps or Southern Carnic Alps, about 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) from Pordenone. We were there during 1976 Friuli Earthquake, magnitude 6.5. We had a recent desire for Italian food and drink. So, we decided to join our cousins in Concord, California who'd been suggesting for quite awhile we all go to their favorite local Italian restaurant, Fiore Restaurant. Because of location, Northern Italy cooking is more closely related to French, German and Swiss than to peninsular Italy. Northern Italian cuisine is characterized by lesser use of olive oil, pasta, tomato sauce, and bread with heavier reliance on unsalted butter and cheeses for cream sauces. Northern Italian traditional side dishes consist for the most part of salads made from wild greens collected in the fields, dressed with walnut oil, as it's too cold for olives to grow in the Valley. Much of Northern Italy is either steep or at a high altitude. Those highlands have wonderful pastures; herders take their animals up into the mountains after the snows melt, and spend the summers making formaggio d'alpeggio, cheeses from alpine forage. True Fontina cheese is a treat you won't easily forget and is used in Valdostana-style fonduta (fondue), which is often topped with thin shavings of white truffle. Warmer regions of Southern Italy tend to be more reliant on the sea and utilize the longer growing season which lends itself to lighter and fresher tasting dishes. Parts of southern Italy have been historically impoverished compared to central and northern Italian regions. That has led to some very humble but rich and delicious southern Italian dishes made to satiate hungry workers for a cheap price. That's why pasta, a less expensive food, is produced and consumed more in Southern Italy. Southern Italy produces the majority of the country's olive oils and it's liberally used throughout the regional cuisines. Southern Italian cuisine utilizes lamb and goats in cheese-making along with many meat dishes. These animals take up less of the precious farmland and serve a dual purpose by providing both milk and meat. Moroccan food is a very healthy national cuisine with heavy emphasis on vegetables, whole grains and sweetening with fruit rather than refined sugar. Any of that is what we expected from Fiore Restaurant based on its advertising. We got it and more because as Hunter S. Thompson, US Air Force Veteran, was fond of saying: when the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. Times are weird and this place responded by turning pro. Immediately greeted, pleasantly and professionally, upon entering for our reservation which had stipulated outdoor seating which we got. Wait for our wine and meal was reasonable. Business appeared clean. Bathroom was clean. Menu nicely varied. Food fresh, yummy and beautifully presented. Wine selection adequate. Noisy not in a negative way. More like a loving-family kitchen way. They like their Freedom so they have a Military and Veterans Discount as a thank you to Veterans with a publicly disclosed daily Veteran Discount as it provides resource to ensure Veterans (rare 7% of the population) opportunity to participate in American Dream Veterans' sacrifices have made possible for 100% of the population. Slightly higher prices didn't match their lower web site prices (a Deceptive Trade Practice) hence 3 stars instead of 4 stars. Business, as are so many businesses, is struggling in an infectious disease world; and labor, supplies and water shortage world. What this business did though in stark contrast to many businesses I've frequented lately: No automatic gratuity was added to our bill; (we just don't pay any added automatic gratuity or merchant fees as we pay only for what we had bargained for upfront and received) No one here offered to commit fraud to reward us, pay us or compensate us for posting 5 star reviews of this business. (Under 15 US Code § 45, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has the power to stop and penalize parties "FTC forbids the use of fake testimonials as are illegal under Section 5 of the FTC Act (15 USC 45 as they are using unfair or deceptive acts or practices in or affecting commerce." It a crime to violate official rules imposed by the FTC.) No one here hassled us about my Service Dog or the Veterans' accouterments I adorn her with lavishly. I don't think anyone even noticed my Service Dog entering, under the table, or leaving. I'll be back when they stop their Deceptive Trade Practices. read more

This is a great spot for Italian! From the outside, it didn't look like much. The inside of the restaurant is small, but has a nice atmosphere and enough seating for a good amount of people. The decor was cute and we enjoyed the view of the wide variety of wines behind the bar. We got there pretty last minute before close. Even though I am sure the waitress and kitchen staff weren't appreciative of this, the service was lovely and we never felt uncomfortable. The waitress politely reminded us the kitchen would be closing soon in the kindest way possible. We all ordered various pasta dishes, each with no complaints! I especially loved my pesto pasta, it was superb. However, my favorite dish was the tiramisu...so, so good! Beautiful too! Overall, this was a great last minute decision for a late dinner. But I ended my dinner experience with their delicious jumbo prawns in a very tasty dill-cream sauce. I recommend this place for quality Italian-fusion food. In terms of space and hospitality, The ambiance is cozy and family friendly. Parking is abundant. Outdoor seating available with heating devices. The food is very good. The service (and awareness) is slow, and the owner/staff caters to regulars. I'd give it a higher rating but SERVICE is the issue. It's a small enough place they could staff better but appears they have one poor guy who runs around trying to do it all, then a back-bar person who arrives after and it just turns into a log-jam. We came in for my mother in laws Birthday... it took 20 minutes to get water to our table, yet a "regular" then sat at the bar 15 minutes after and they poured him a glass of wine ahead of our drinks. I truly like this place but 3 times in 2 years going here it's the same script, to my next time may be the last. My dad received a gift card for this restaurant for a friend for his birthday and we sat on it for two years! We are very annoyed at ourselves because Fiore was a wonderful experience. Not only was the price very reasonable for the quality of the food we got, but they didn't rush us, brought out our food in a timely manner, and the seafood was excellent. It's a bit cold inside restaurants in Concord due to summer heat, so we opted to eat outside, and that was very pleasant. We never felt abandoned or forgotten. We had the following: Mista salad, beet salad, mussel/clam with cream sauce appetizer, lasagna, seafood fettuccini, and finally (my personal favorite ice cream) Spumoni. Everything was excellent. Fresh, perfect sauces, the bread they served with lunch was a Dutch crunch-styled bread that helped soak up every sauce, the staff was friendly, and accommodating, and our server even called me by name due to my reservation. When I called the restaurant the person who answered acted as if all I ordered was the meatball sandwich and a soup. I had to clearly point out to him that I was charged/paid for the pasta. The owner and the restaurant manager are very nice people and want to make sure you're food is delicious. The manager is very personable and takes the time to ask how your day was and how the family is doing. Best local Italian restaurant around! Their daily soups are amazing tasting, and their mussels were creamy, tender and delicious. Our go to is their Veal Marsala and when they have their Seafood Lasagna special, you have to try it. They couldn't get the bathroom door open, so one of my guests had to go to the ice cream shop next door to use theirs. And when we opted for after-dinner drinks instead of dessert, our server didn't know what limoncello was. Someone was apparently able to figure it out, so mine ended up being perfect, after all. Fiore needs to hire wait staff in addition to the kid who waited on our table tonight. I will not go back for dinner, and definitely would not bring guests. Food tasted good; service was sub-par. I came tonight to their Moroccan Night. The food was terrible and very expensive. The menu shows 7 course meal when there only 3 and one for dessert. I ordered the lemon chicken with olive. The chicken was basically boiled chicken, no lemon and never found the olives. I asked for Harissa, they did not have instead brought some mix with chili pepper. Their fruit salad consist of can fruit with yogurt. The gin tonic had to be only water and the price $116.00. Parking is easy, there wasn't a wait when on a Friday night at 730, the ambiance was very nice but still comfortable. Prices are reasonable ( 10 bucks for a cocktail! 7 for a beer! 12 for an appetizer! 8 for dessert! I felt like I'd been transported to 2018. I never reviewed Fiore? That makes no sense - I've been going for years. Okay, time to rectify the problem. Fiore rocks. That's the short review. Want more? Okay, fine -no problem. Barely an inconvenience! Fiore is the definition of a small, personal, intimate dining experience. Habib, the chef, knows his stuff. He merges Moroccan, Italian and neighboring cuisines in an artful and delicious manner. It's deeply flavored and varied enough that pretty much anyone will find something they like. My only food complaint is sometimes the bread is left too long and gets a bit crispy. There - that's the complaint. Their dip is amazing. You have to order it - it puts all other olive oil dips to shame. Very low calorie as well. (One of those sentences was a lie. Can you spot the one?) Hafeed, essentially the maître d', treats you like family. Always kind and welcoming, and always correct with his recommendations of wines to best complement the dishes. His ability to maintain a soothing calm in the face of massive dinner rushes is inspiring Andrea and Laura, the primary servers, both are fully capable of holding down the fort when Hafeed is off on one of his rare nights off. In other words, everything's always under control. Their desserts, unlike the usual cookie-cutter, thawed from frozen items, are all utterly delicious and presented with flair. Parking is trivially easy as they're tucked inside a somewhat nondescript mall-ish group of buildings. Learned about this gem of an Italian restaurant on Nextdoor. It's been in Concord since 2008 and I just now found out about it. Had dinner there last night and was very impressed. The food was excellent. We both had "small" Ceasar salads. They were not small, but they were very tasty and fresh. For entrees I had the braised lamb shank with risotto. Both were absolutely delicious. My husband was thrilled to learn they serve veal scallopini. A lot of Italian restaurants don't serve it anymore, and it's his favorite. He had it with the Marsalla sauce and loved it. For dessert we each had the chocolate mousse cake. It was fantastic! Service was friendly and attentive.
