Popped in for late lunch since I was in the neighborhood. All the burgers are yummy here--they use Angus beef and it's delicious. TBH, my 'go to' lunch is generally the Fish Tacos. I highly recommend them too. Although today I was in a "burger mood" and the burger of the day--bacon, caramelized onions, BBQ sauce and gouda--scratched that itch. And, they use Angus beef!! I came for the nachos!! I loved the nachos, while I am not a huge pork fan, I was intrigued by the photos others have posted. I love that the actual chip is loaded with refried beans, meat jalapeños and cheese. There was also sour cream, guacamole and salsa for dipping. Tried this place for the first time after passing it over the years, and it was delicious! It's a cozy vibe in an old house, so you feel like you're in a comfortable home. I'm excited to come back during the summer and sit on one of the patios! To start we had the pulled pork nachos which were awesome. Each chip had toppings on it, which was very unique. They were very filling, so we actually had to get a box. For our meals I got the smoky bear burger which had Gouda and bacon and I loved it. My boyfriend got the fish and chips and ate every bite. The only thing he didn't like was the slaw that came with it. Our server was super nice and attentive. She gave us her favorites and checked in on us multiple times. There was a bit of a wait but that was a given since it was Sunday. After about 30 minutes of waiting we were quickly seated. The atmosphere of the restaurant reminded me of a small cozy pub. Fried pickles - fried sandwich slices, was hard to eat without the breading slipping off the pickle. Was fried well but flavor was just fine. The patios (Yep, plural) were full of dappled shade and languid ease, the quiet hum of conversation, and birdsong. Corey, our server, was bright, attentive, and tremendously fun to chat with -- I hope I didn't keep him from his other tables too long. He suggested a lovely summer elderflower cocktail that was, as he put it, "summer in a glass." I think I had two. I could easily have had more. (Note: they don't mention the cocktails on the menu! Ask for what they're featuring -- it's totally worth it.) Food: generous portions, lots of vegetarian and pescatarian options that appealed to me, high quality ingredients. It was hard to choose. It was delicious and very fresh, and they even had options for my former plant based partner who still claims to be vegan. I am not allowed to speak about this to her, so I am using Yelp to express my confusion with that dilemma. Anyway, the pork tenderloin was delicious and was the largest tenderloin I've had since the visiting legendary Edinburgh Diner. Sweet potato fries were wonderful and very crispy, the waffle shape was a nice touch. Good selection of beer, Non Athletic Brewing is a great alternative and tasted just like a regular Hazy IPA, I even felt a little buzzed despite it being .25 ABV. Indoor seating is not the move if you want to maintain a healthy relationship with your partner. I struggled to hear my partner due to the crowded seating arrangements, to which I resorted to nodding as my cue that I was paying attention. However, I have learned in my year of dating her that this is not always the most optimal situation to be in, as women expect you to remember everything you tell them. Fellas, nodding does not mean you heard anything she said, so it's best to choose the quality outdoor seating options when weather conditions are optimal. Haven't been here in almost 2 years because of covid and distance from my house. Arrived as soon as they opened and was greeted by many. We sat outside and had plenty of shade on a sunny day. Emily sat us and was our waitress and she was amazing! I asked if they had a house made strawberry lemonade and she said she could whip something up. She did and it was delicious! My husband couldn't decide which beer to get and she asked what he usually got and brought him out a couple of samples in which he chose one. She was so accommodating! I had a quick drop in lunch here at fire by the Monon! It's tucked away in the broad ripple area and looks small from the outside but it's rather large! There is A LOT of seating, I didn't even get to fully see the entirety of it but i do believe it to be ample. The bar was nice right as you enter. They even have great covered outdoor seating. The service was great - she was very attentive and the food was made very quick. I absolutely enjoyed this veggie flatbread. It was moist and well cooked, the dough was so soft and they even accommodated me when I asked for balsamic glaze which is not normally something they offer or have on the table! Tenderloins are my wife and I favorites. It is the meal we order out the most. I heard about Fire By The Monon on line so we made a trip down to broad ripple and was the first one in. So far, the Tenderloin has been the absolute best we have ever had. It was moist, tender, and not overly breaded or oily. But that's not all. We had the sweet potatoes fry's and they were excellent!!! Since moving to the area in 2006, I have been looking for excellent fry's. I found a few that were good, but none that was as good as this!! After 20 years, I found some good fries!! But, there is more!! The chipolte sauce was homemade and superb as well as the pickle. It takes me a half an hour to get there, but it is absolutely worth it. Our server was also superb! A pleasure to talk with and made us feel very welcomed! I happened to be in the area and was scrolling for a place to eat that I'd never been to. This restaurant popped up with a delicious cover photo. I'm indecisive and kept scrolling yet kept thinking back to that picture! Finally I decided that was exactly what I wanted. It ended up being the Greuben sandwich (basically a Ruben with fried fish as the meat substitute) with sweet potato fries. I called it in and the gentleman on the phone was incredibly kind. I was in between lunch and dinner time, not surprised to see it not busy, but bummer for them. The same man talked to me while I paid and was just as kind in person. He thanked me over and over for finding them to order with, because customers like me are the only way they're able to barely stay open. Hint: SUPPORT LOCAL RESTAURANTS, they need us!!! I couldn't wait until I got home and ate half of my food in the car. Those are the best sweet potato fries I've ever had! I typically think they're good elsewhere but on the dryer side and need sauce. These came with a signature fire sauce but I didn't use it because they were that flavorful. The Greuben was superb! The employee said he came in for a Greuben 5 years ago and never left, haha, but I can see why! The fish was so incredibly fresh, hard to believe in land-locked Indiana. Tasted hand-breaded, like it was never frozen. Nothing was soggy and all layers of the sandwich were on point. It's a bit heavy so I ate half and finished it about 45 minutes later once home. The other half of my sandwich was still good then, warm and not soggy. Total perfection.
