Called ahead to order for pickup because when I tried to do it online it wouldn't give me the option for free kids meals (which is their Saturday and Sunday deal). I've been going to this place for years. Today I go in to pay for my meal and the guy working says that I have to have my kids present in order to receive the free kids meal. In a time like this where the world is coming together and I've seen the utmost generosity, these people want me to bring my child out of the house? I plead my case. He ended up not charging but was extremely rude after. I don't know who's policy this is but I've encountered the owner multiple times in my times being there and hope that this isn't a real rule to bring your kids out into this world when we have been ordered to stay home. Love this place! Whenever I have a hankering for some healthy fresh hawaiian food - FAST - I go here. The quick and easy order up counter makes it a breeze. I don't normally eat in, but I have a few times and it is clean and comfortable. There is even a nice covered patio. I always order the Big Kahuna Grilled Chicken Platter and it is A LOT of food! I just end up eating half and save the rest for my next meal so then I get 2 meals in 1 :) I love their Fire Island Rice which has coconut milk mixed in with the rice. I'm not a huge coconut fan, but this rice is delish! It's not overwhelmingly coconut flavored and when mixed with the Fire Island Teriyaki Sauce - YUM!! The Fire Island moniker might be deceiving since its not really that spicy, but Hawaiian food isn't known for its spicy cuisine. But the Fire Island sauce does have a little zing to it that makes it stand out from your typical teriyaki chicken dish. This is definitely a standard on my "Go to Lunch" spot list. read more

Been coming here since 2010. Those teriyaki bowls are really the best in the AV! Love the chicken! love the pork!...never had the beef though. There's a decently big selection (salad, sandwich, bowl) so don't be shy, ask the staff, they are helpful and nice if you're looking for something particular. Just got an order from here today which I paid $48 and some change for. The order was not even correct. Got all the way home and the platter was missing the macaroni salad. The manager Eduardo has no people skills along with the girl who was working at the time. The platter is advertised as double the bowl, but the only thing that's doubled is the rice. On top of that the chicken was dry. Used to like fire island grill, however bad people skills and not being able to an order right don't mix. Won't be going back! read more

What a disappointment!! I was thinking about going to the Q & Q Hawaiian Barbecue, but one of their reviewers highly recommended the Fire Island Grill instead, I ordered the Big Kahuna Chicken plate. It comes with enough rice for three pople and a little chicken breast cut up and spread over the rice. It also comes with side vegetables and macaroni salad. I honestly believe they pile the rice on to make up for the small portion of chicken spread over the rice. The chicken was dry and not very tasty. the vegetables had no real flavor. The macaroni salad was so runny I felt like I should have eaten it with a spoon. Maybe some of the other dishes are better than this, but I would not recommend this meal to anyone. I'll be going to the Q & Q Barbecue to see what they have to offer, but I definitely will not be going back to the Fire Island Grill. read more

FIRE ISLAND IS WONDROUS! I love this place, my best friend introduced me to this cute little restaurant a year or so ago and I keep coming back. The bowls are my favorite, you just can't go wrong with the flavors. I normally like getting my sauce on the side but thats just my personal preference. We have enjoyed Fire Island Grill 5-6 times during the last year. The food is light and very tasty! Our favorite dish is the Fire Island Bowl in which you choose your starch (rice or noodles), meat (chicken, beef, shrimp), sauce (several good choices from sweet to spicy), and grilled vegetables. The staff is friendly and helpful. Two people can purchase their meal and beverages for about twenty bucks at this quick-serve style restaurant. The only thing preventing me from awarding five out of five stars is their limited menu. However, if you enjoy their offerings (as we do) you can count on Fire Island Grill for an excellent meal! read more

My boy had the char steak sandwich the 1st time and had the steak & chicken bowl w/ the island rice w/ pineapple teriyaki. By far yummmmmy Hawaiian.
