I have been in this place a hand full of times now. The food is always good and the service is OK, kids behind the counter are not always super friendly but they get the job done, I LOVE that the owner cruses around to make sure everyone is pleased, this added touch means so much and has been lost in the food service industry that says here is your food and there are the tables. I am so hooked on this place. The menu is simple but delicious. Basically ou can get a rice bowl, noodle bowl, or salad. They have brown rice and what they call island rice, both are delicious. The noodles are good too but I prefer the rice. You can have your choice of meat. The shrimp and pork are SO GOOD! You also get vegies which are delicious. I usually get an extra scoop. I have had there volcano chicken salad and another one but the name escapes me. Both were excellent. They also have delicious macaroni salad. The girls that work there are quick and super friendly. They have a huge sign out front: Poke Bowl, so my son and I decided to try it. Bad mistake! It was so gross my son spit it out. Yelpers pointed out that it had rice, but I must have had a left over batch or something because there was no rice in mine, just some hard thin strands of noodles or something. It tasted like it was packed the day before and refrigerated over night. It was our first time there and we tried other items, but nothing stood out for us to return. read more

I looked forward to having another Hawaiian-style restaurant in SV besides L&L Hawaiian BBQ but I was very disappointed with Fire Island Grill. Having enjoyed many local-style Hawaiian plate lunch type of meals in the Islands, there was nothing Hawaiian about their food. I had the chicken noodle bowl with Lava Peanut sauce which was practically tasteless. There were a lot of unflavored noodles, dry chicken & decent veggies that lacked much variety (nearly all zuccini with a few pieces of slivered carrot & celery chunks). I would recommend to request a 2nd container of sauce to add more flavor for anyone going there but most of it slid to the bottom of the bowl resulting in the top half having very little flavor. We tried it & even for the $5 special price found it wasn't something we'll do again. There are better options for a 'bowl' meal including Teriyaki Bowl which costs less & is fresher & better. I wasn't expecting food like at Da Kitchen in Maui but hoped for it to be as good as at L&L but that definitely wasn't the case. If you want more authentic Hawaiian-style food, L&L Hawaiian BBQ is a much better option to have some ono-licious local style Hawaiian grindz! read more

Went there for the 1st time this weekend. It was very clean and nice inside. Customer service was ok. No one followed up with us after we ordered and ate our dinner. The Luau Pork platter was massive and very good. Almost large enough to split for 2 people. The kids chicken bowl was a great deal with a drink. A healthier drink such as milk or juice vs soda would have made meal even better. Our food was quick and delicious. Will definitely go back. Hope this restaurant makes it as it is in a rather high end shopping center where a fancy restaurant used to reside. read more

Since when did healthy food actually taste really good? I absolutely love this place and I come in at least once a week. It's hard to eat a healthy meal on your lunch break if you don't bring your lunch. Sure Subway is good, but it tastes like Subway. This place is awesome. I've really only had their bowls with noodles, so I can't vouch for the rice but if it's anything like the noodles then it's going to be real good. First, who doesn't like Asian style bowls with veggies and chicken? I know I do, but I hate how fattening and just overall horrible Chinese places are. This place does it right. They use Fettuccine noodles, all white meat chicken breast, and this bomb stir fry of veggies. I recommend the fire island sauce (it's a little spicy, but really not bad at all). It's around 500 calories and tastes freaking awesome. I'm a big dude and it fills me up without making me feel that blah you get from fast food. Try the Pork Bowl, that one is bomb too. Goto the website, they have daily lunch specials that include a drink for $6.99 + tax. Seriously why are you still reading this? You aren't going to find a better place to get a good meal on your lunch break or a quick bite for dinner. Isn't this the time of year all your chubby people have new years resolutions to lose weight? You found the right place to stuff your face and not feel bad about it! Staff? Always friendly. I always leave thinking to myself "I fu$%ing love this place" The owner is a cool dude. Super nice and helpful. I really hope this place makes it because I will be super bummed if I have to start going back to Subway everyday. One recommendation for the owner: Try making like a more spicy non sweet sauce. Fire Island Grill was fresh and friendly! My Mom and I checked out this restaurant and ended up meeting the owner Jimmy. Very nice people! The chicken bowl was really tasty with good sauces. Mom has the salad with chicken and mango-she said it was good. It's not too expensive and the food is very fresh. Pretty close to the Reagan Library in the Albertson's shopping center. They have grilled chicken or steak and they serve it with a huge dish or bowl of rice and they also hear good salads and they are actually healthy! Tried something different for dinner last night. At first we couldn't find the place but that was our fault. It was not where we thought it was. When we walked in, the place was empty. We reviewed the menu and my wife and I ordered the bowls with Thai Peanut sauce. Overall a very good value for the money and we will be going back. I thought the Thai Peanut sauce was a little to creamy (I prefer non-creamy sauces) so I'll probably try something else the next time. The staff was friendly and I thought we got a good value for the money. It was also a good sign to see more folks come through the door while we were eating. Their luau pork staves off the hot sweats I get about whether it is worth spending $4000 to fly to Hawaii and go to a luau just for the nostalgia.
