I might say this is a hidden gem in Glenview! Fire Thyme Kitchen holds the space that used to be Pizano's pizza. It's quite spacious and still has the logistical lay out to handle a high volume of carry out orders (separate section of the restaurant that was established for pizza carry out before). There's two separate dining areas, one where they seat families with younger kids and another for diners without kids, if you want more of a dimmer, bar type vibe. A small area adjacent to the family seating area has a couple claw machines and arcade games... to which one daughter quickly "donated" $2 to the gaming cause and the other daughter decided to pocket the $2 I gave her. The spiced pear martini was a very elevated cocktail that packed a punch and was full of cinnamon and pear flavor. It was way better than I expected and worth the $16! My kiddos enjoyed the mai tai mocktail they split, and it came out in plastic cups with straws, so good for the end users! I tried the chipotle taco salad, which was a hefty $25, but also lasted me 2-3 servings. It had steak, cheese, roasted red bell peppers, and tortilla strips in it. I forgot to ask for dressing on the side, but was pleased that it wasn't overly dressed. Husband enjoyed his comforting pappardelle bolognese ($35), which is served with toasted ciabatta spears and butter. Kids' cheese pizzas were $12 each, and the croissant crust really is flaky and buttery. They did comment that it was a little spicy though; I'm guessing it's from the tomato sauce used. I stopped by here with my coworkers for lunch. The interior is super spacious and the decor is so nice! The service is pretty quick and the staff is super friendly too. They closed after 2pm to prepare for dinner service and we were so caught up with chitchatting we didn't realized it was past 2pm! But they never said anything to us, which was super nice of them. As for the Philly cheesesteak wrap I got, I loooveddd that it came with a bowl of cheese for dipping. I was pleasantly surprised. The waffle fries with the cheese sauce was soo so soo good! As for the wrap itself, the flavors were really good as well. However, I feel like the steak was cut too thick and it was a bit too chewy with certain bites. I highly suggest making a reservation because the couple of times I've been here, the place was very busy. This space has been empty for a while after Pizano's pizza closed. Parking can be challenging on a busy night. I liked what they did inside. The family area (groups with kids) and the main dining were separated. The interiors were beautiful and the place was clean. I've tried: CREAM OF CHICKEN SOUP- hearty and delicious SMASH BURGER - I've had this on both visits and honestly, it reminded me of an elevated Big Mac. It had the same components: the slaw, pickles, onions, American cheese and the smashed patties. The first time, they served it with a side of waffle fries and the second time, they were with french fries. Both sides were great. CEASAR COBB SALAD- fresh, delicious, and satisfying GREEK CHICKEN SANDWICH- I liked the seasonings on the chicken and it went well with the delicious slice feta cheese and tzatziki cucumbers. Overall, I had a nice experience on my visits. On both occasions, the owner/chef Jamie Bisoulis chatted with all the guests in the dining room. Having found this place on the North shore restaurant month list and then looking at the menu I was already psyched to check it out. It did not disappoint. When you walk in there's two directions you can go, right or left. To the right is the dining room and bar area, to the left is the family section. The family section is a very impressive concept. Adjacent to the tables it's got a few arcade games so that young kids can entertain themselves and their kids menu offers a special "toddler" style which just means that they cut the food up for you so you can enjoy your own food a little easier. It's very clever to offer these options, and even more so to separate this section from the general dining room. Of course, we were here for the more traditional dining experience in the main room. With full window siding, white tablecloths (covered with a white paper cover for easy clean-up), adjustable table lights, cloth napkins, white brick walls and several hanging lights and fans this space strikes the perfect balance between high-end and casual. The dining room is very comfortable. We ate lots of food on this visit, I really wanted to try out as many things as I could. We started with the tomato basil flatbread. The base is actually a thin croissant crust, a really unique spin on a traditional dish. This was the best flatbread I've ever had! Just the right doneness, a perfect but simple balance of flavor, and amazing preserved tomatoes on top make this dish something special. For our mains we ordered the lobster roll pasta and the picnic chicken. The pasta was great. Very buttery with a good amount of tasty lobster pieces throughout the dish. The picnic chicken was excellent as well. It was cooked perfectly and still juicy. The topping of sweet and spicy peppers really brought it all together adding some much needed acidity to chicken. It comes with your choice of two sides, I opted for crispy brown butter potatoes and cacio e pepe green beans. Both sides were excellent but I was really impressed with the cook and seasoning on the green beans, the parmesan and pepper flavor really shines on these. Completely full, and with leftovers for the future, I still couldn't leave without some dessert. We ordered the apple bread pudding and the gelato sundae. The bread pudding is quite the big piece, it was like a slice of cake made into bread pudding! With lots of great flavor and a moist texture this was a great finish. It comes topped with some fantastic gelato as well. The sundae has 2 flavors of gelato over a bed of strawberries and chocolate and was devoured and enjoyed as well. I haven't been this stuffed in quite some time, this isn't one of those places where you leave hungry. All throughout our dinner the service was spot on. The waitress was friendly and checked in often. Our server brought us extra plates so we could share and they removed our used plates and utensils promptly and with a smile. I even had the pleasure of talking with the chef/owner for a bit before things got busy. She's working hard to fulfill her vision and I'd say it really shows in the concept and small details. She asked for any and all opinions, the good, the bad, and the ugly. This was really a perfect meal, I wouldn't say I have any complaints, but I'll offer a few small notes I have. For the chicken, I would have liked more peppers. Getting some in each bite would elevate the dish further. The crispy potatoes could use a slightly smaller cut to really get a crispy texture. The bread pudding would benefit from more apple pieces, it was delicious but it wasn't apple forward. A bit more of the maple sauce or syrup that it came with would be welcome as well. Those are all really minor things but those tweaks, I feel, would improve the experience. They've only been open a little over a week but I'm blown away with the effort on display here. I'll certainly be back to try even more dishes. Overall this is an elegant and family friendly spot that's upscale in design but doesn't break the bank. A must try! read more

I know this place is fairly new but there were so many issues from start to finish that I don't know if the problems have to do with training, the kitchen just throwing things together, or what. Fire Thyme is trying too hard to be everything to everyone. When you pull into the parking lot (which is not huge) they have complimentary valet, which was good as there were no spots and the couple they had were blocked off by pylons for the valet. What if you didn't want to use valet. The answer is simple: it's your only option. We walked in and it was super loud. The two hosts at the host's stand were arguing on where to seat us. The room facing us is the "family" room the other room is adults only. We opted to sit in the family room as (unfortunately) it was deceptively quiet because of the glass wall separating it from the waiting area. As soon as we entered the family room we found it to be as loud as the adults room. There were only two kids in the family room and they were the quietest in there. We met family there. When we were all seated, the waitress stopped by for our drink order. My wife asked about one of the beers whether it was light or dark and the waitress seemed confused. Our drinks arrived and we were sure the wrong beer was brought. Then we decided on the Build Your Own Charcuterie for the table. It's huge! The problem is that it's served on a platter with a handle so you can't spin it. While it may look cool, a lazy susan lets everyone partake in all parts of the charcuterie. We then started to order and I asked for one of the specials and the waitress said they were out of it. It would have been nice if she offered that information earlier. So I ordered the picnic chicken instead. It was dry and tough. I've never had tough chicken off the bone before. The mashed potatoes were somehow sweet (and no, I didn't order sweet potatoes) the green beans were very good though. My wife got the mushroom barley soup which she said was very good, too. However, she got the Chopped Greek Salad and there was a ton of lettuce but they skimped on the other vegetables as they were few and far between. My mother got the same salad but added salmon for an additional $10. Not a very big portion of salmon for the price but was told it was quite flavorful. My Dad got the Cobb salad with chicken. All three of them took their salads home as they were quite large. When we were done, they asked if we wanted dessert. She handed us menus and walked away. When we ordered, she said they were out. Really?? Just tell us what you have. My parents got a gelato sundae and we split the Dutch Apple Bread Pudding. It was not warm when served to us and where the fresh hell were the apples? I had one little apple chunk. Our server then brought the check and someone else picked it up. Our server never welcomed us, asked if we had any questions about the menu, offered no suggestions nor told us what the kitchen had run out of, never asked how or meals were, didn't ask if we wanted refills on our drinks, didn't thank us for coming. She barely spoke two words to us. Then there are the servers. Two guys brought the found to the table. Just to be clear, there were four of us. 4 people. They asked who had one of the dishes. We told him that I'm the only one with a chicken entree. So he gave me the salad. AFTER we told him I got the chicken. Then he handed everyone the wrong meals. We corrected him and he then handed us the wrong meals anyway. Just so incredibly disorganized. Overall, the lack of connectivity from the waitress, the miscommunication about what was available, the mediocrity of the food, the insane level of noise (no sound dampening whatsoever), the arguing hosts, and the silly need for valet parking all adds up to a one star from me. I'd have given a half star if I could. With so many options in Glenview, I suggest going elsewhere and skipping Fire Thyme Restaurant. read more

Came here in search of comfort food, and while it didn't deliver on that, the food, service, ambience were all pretty solid. Interesting location in a random spot in Glenview - we've crossed it many times, really glad we finally tried it! This place is pretty unique - it looks nice, cloth tablecloths covered with kraft paper, contemporary coastal designs and leather chairs, it even seems to have semi-separated sections for families (with kids) and those without. In the same areas as the family section, there is a little play room with video games and toddler toys to entertain the young'uns while waiting for food or while the adults talk after a meal. The staff is amazing - everyone is so friendly and welcoming, huge smiles, thoughtful and attentive service. This is a great place for anyone - families, girl get together, date night. The only callout is that it can get LOUD here, whether it's the bare flooring or just the crowdedness, it can be hard to talk/hear in this restaurant. We ordered the kid's charcuterie board ($12) was absolutely adorable and SO creative. It wowed us in terms of presentation (on a cheese board) and the amount and quality of food (fresh berries, grapes, croissant bread sticks, waffle fries, deli turkey slices, half an avocado), and reminded me of an adult cheese board - what a great idea! They quickly brought us a little kid's plate to help make the food and portions more manageable. We also ordered lobster roll pasta ($38). The lobster pasta was good, could've been better, and apparently is a popular choice. The flavor was certainly there - you could taste the lobster throughout, balanced with a squeeze of lemon, including on the pasta itself. The pasta was cooked al dente, in a good way. And there was a fair amount of lobster pieces in it (don't expect huge lobster tail chunks), but there wasn't enough sauce. The pasta ended up a bit dry. The smashburger ($17) was promising, but the waffle fries left something wanting. The burger itself was packed with double patties, and a bunch of other deliciousness, including some type of relish that gave it a good bite. If you're not a fan of pickles, you might not like this burger, but if you are or don't mind it, then this burger is one of the better burgers I've had - well balanced! read more

I'd closely been following Jamie's updates on social media, eagerly anticipating the opening of Fire Thyme Kitchen + Bar. Everything she shared - from the decor to the drinks - looked incredible. And so this was an easy option for our belated Valentine's dinner celebration. We had a reservation for 7:15 and were seated after about ten minutes of waiting. The host offered us a seat in the family dining room but we opted to wait for our table in the main dining room. The restaurant was quite busy for a Sunday night (we love to see local businesses succeeding!). Our service was excellent from beginning to end. My husband started with the Glenview Manhattan, which is a sweeter take on the classic cocktail thanks to the addition of Luxardo cherry syrup. I snuck a sip and it was a well made, balanced drink. I had the Caesar cobb salad, which was a generous portion and included seared chicken breast. I opted to get the dressing on the side. The dressing was quite good but almost not needed because there was so much flavor in the salad. The croissant croutons were a light, crispy touch that I really loved. My husband had the steak dinner with the cacio e pepe green beans. I stole a bite of steak. It was tender and flavorful. Came here for a late date night and sat at a high top by the bar. The service was quick and our server was attentive throughout the whole night. We got the lobster Mac and cheese and the lobster sliders. The lobster sliders is like a lobster roll cut into thirds. The truffle lobster mac and cheese was priced at $40 but the portion was very large. Both were delicious and I definitely would get them both again. We also tried the espresso martini and the pear martini. Loved both but the espresso martini was very strong. It definitely kicks. Lastly we ended with the strawberry shortcake. Highly recommend. I'm in heaven! Huge range of gf options - almost everything on the menu has a gf option, plus lots of vegan and dairy free options. Dedicated range, oven, griddle and fryer for gf. 2 kiddos have celiac (wheat allergy) so we appreciate this!!! Everything we had was so flavorful and fresh. First off, the area badly needed a great restaurant like Fire Thyme. It's the perfect menu for a date night, a quick grab to eat or a night out with the whole family. We shared all the items and some of our favorites included the Chicken Kyiv Meatballs, Pepperoni Flatbread and by far my favorite, the Lobster Roll Pasta. Considering they've only been open a week, they're already firing on all cylinders with great food and service. We accidentally booked the family room for a date night and instead of the host giving us the option to sit on the adult side we spent our dinner watching flashing lights from the arcade and listening to screaming kids. As for the food, we ordered a grazing board and the Caesar salad wrap. The board was pretty but most items did not taste good. The cheese didn't seem nice, could get similar stuff at Mariano's. The croissant focaccia was nothing like focaccia. It tasted like a stale croissant that was flattened. The other country bread was not fresh at all. The wrap came out about an hour later! And we were there at 5, how could the kitchen be backed up this early? On top of the mediocre food, the prices are really absurdly expensive. Wish it was better :/ read more

Delicious fresh tuna salad wrap (super good dill flavor without too much mayo) AND delightfully yummy (sub) salad - all the great tastes of an Italian sub sandwich IN A SALAD. Low carb, keto alert! The sub salad was standout delicious! The surprising addition of marcona almonds with the delicious little candy peppers took the flavors over the top. Yum! My friend and I split the tuna wrap and sub salad; essentially a sandwich-salad combo for US BOTH. We were each wonderfully satisfied. Plus great cocktail offerings to make it a perfect girls-day-out lunch! Thank you! What surprised me was that this place is TRULY family friendly! A dedicated area with kid fun (no kidding). Checked out this restaurant for the first time last night, it was very good. Complementary valet parking. We arrived at 5 pm and got seated in the main dining room. Beautiful decor!! There are cool booths & regular tables with nice linen. The chairs are very comfortable. We had a Greek cheese appetizer and both myself and guest ordered the roasted chicken for our main entrees. You get 2 sides with an entree. My two sides were the green beans with pecorino cheese sprinkled on top, very tasty and brussels sprout leaves with bacon. The Brussels leaves weren't crispy (which I prefer) but a bit too much olive oil. The roasted chicken was very good. Next time, I will try the flatbread app and a sandwich. I have a suggestion, it's very loud in the dining room so they should consider investing in some acoustic fabric panels on the ceilings to help buffer the noise. read more
