Super nice staff; no seating at the bar or grill; only take away. Got a burger medium rare with pepper Jack & side salad. Burger was too salty, overcooked and had Swiss cheese. The salad was lettuce and chopped zucchini (so odd). The quesadilla was just unseasoned chicken and shredded cheddar. Food was 1/5. Customer service was 4/5.

We had to drop our daughter off at the Hilton for rehearsal before her college graduation at the hotel so we decided to get some lunch in the hotel restaurant . Initially the ambience was nice and peaceful so we could eat our lunch and not rush. We ordered the fried calamari and steamed asparagus and cheesesteak sandwich. Service was good but the prices for lunch are a bit high but that is to be expected in a hotel restaurant. As we were enjoying our meal, a group of youth sports team members were eating bagels and cheese on the other side of our booth and were pretty loud so Dude had a hard time enjoying his meal. Other than that, for the convenience and location (because our daughter's graduation was going to be at the hotel) this place is it.

    Really good coleslaw

When the ahi tuna sandwich tastes as plain as a rice cracker, that's a bad sign, especially when that sandwich is $20. It always confuses me when restaurants can't make decent basic things. Thankfully, my buddy and I split the sandwich and the ribs platter. But since he seemed to like the plain dry ahi more, I gave him my sandwich and ate his ribs. Tastes like Costco ribs but for twice the price. The only reason this review isn't 2 stars is because for some odd treason their coleslaw was really good.

    It's a bubble bar!

Just off the front door, inside the Hilton Hotel, is a quiet little restaurant with a great menu. As you walk in, you are greeted by the bartender. Because it's in the hotel, it is not too busy. It's a great spot to stop when traffic is ridiculous! It's modern in decor, cold temperatures, well lit space and numerous staff make a nice place to relax at the end of the day.

Fire Vine Grill & Bar is a restaurant and bar located inside of the Hilton San Francisco Airport Bayfront hotel - a few minutes from SFO. I stopped in here one evening for a couple of brews - Pale 31 Pale Ale (Firestone-Walker Brewing Co., Paso Robles, CA) and some food. Ordered a cup of the San Francisco clam chowder and an order of the crab cakes. The chowder came out first. I requested black pepper and hot sauce. What I got was a standard pepper shaker and Tabasco sauce - which is disappointing. I'm not sure what is so hard about keeping a pepper mill around for freshly cracked black pepper - and I'd love to start seeing restaurants offer some more interesting hot sauce options - other than Tabasco and Cholulu sauces. Boring. The clam chowder was delicious. Nice brininess to it and very creamy. The crab cakes were not bad, but they needed a larger side of Aioli - what I received was a rather pal Nice modern bar and restaurant. Lots of large, flat panel HD TVs. Bartender was professional and attentive. Nice to place to hang and drink.

    It's not a busy place.

I enjoy the service, food quality, happy hour prices and comfort of the lounge. This is my fourth visit. This restaurant has provided consistent high quality service, fresh ingredients, flavorful options. The 100% Angus Swiss mushroom burger is delectable. Prepared to desired temperature with added bacon and avocado for a couple dollars. The buffalo wings are simple and tasty. This place is a bit hidden inside the Hilton far away in Burlingame. It's a fun place to enjoy with friends. Wish the bacon would be thicker. Everything else is perfect.

    Easter brunch menu.

The garlic parm wings and clam chowder were excellent! I have pretty high standards on these items since I am from the east coast.

One of the things that happened when I visited this bar was I asked for a simple lemonade. The reason was because I had a soccer game the next day and I didn't want to drink alcohol and I wanted to get some electrolytes in me. It would have been very simple for the bartender to just say, "I'm sorry we don't serve lemonade." Instead what he did is say I worked here 20 years and he never served lemonade and then kept scoffing at me. He kept saying this three times, walking back and forth, up until the point the patron next to me even said, "Don't worry about him." After that without even me talking to him, he said, "Who orders lemonade at an Irish pub?" Then without me saying anything, he said, "No one orders lemonade at an Irish pub." I was honestly just trying to get a drink and he made me feel very dumb. Overall if a patron asks you for a drink, it's very easy just to say, "I'm sorry we can't do that," but he kept making me feel like an idiot. I was also surprised they did not serve lemonade; that's a very simple request. He didn't offer any alternatives except for 7-Up, which I didn't really want but paid for anyway. I ended up not drinking it even after I paid for it and leaving the bar. I guess the bartender got what he wanted. He gave me a drink that was other than lemonade; he made me pay for it and I just left the bar unhappy. I would highly recommend against visiting this establishment, especially with the grumpy bartender. He is an older white Irish guy. I understand they might have your own customers at the bar but I think it costs nothing to treat patrons with respect and not tell them that they're stupid for asking for a drink. Overall I would not recommend this place at all. Very enforced error. Sad!

Super impromptu meetup with a girlfriend, I said let's try out Paddy Flynn's. We got a Guiness (duh) and a gin and tonic. Bartender was no-nonsense. I expected it to be crowded due to the 49ers/Seahawks game, but we were able to grab a high top. It served its purpose and we were able to catch up over a drink. Crowd was mixed, and even some of the seemingly-random patrons knew each other. It's what you would expect from a pub. Dark. Lively. Straightforward. Will be back.

As a native San Mateo resident of over 50 years, I've been going to this bar since I was of legal…read moredrinking age in the 1990's, but I realized that I have never left a review for it, so here it goes! Originally ran by the sweet Irish owners Seamus & Geraldine McGovern, this bar has stood the rest of time, tech, change, culture, and the ever rise of rents in downtown San Mateo. Their success is pretty simple: good, honest, friendly service & neighborhood feelings. The location is outstanding, easily accessible from anywhere due to the fact that it's in the heart of downtown. Parking is ample/a plenty, and its proximity to restaurants, shopping, and entertainment such as the movie theater makes it an excellent destination to go to meet up with friends, co-workers, and neighbors. Everything is within walking distance and/or public transportation such as the bus, Caltrain, or even bicycles & skateboards. Fast forwarding to 2025, the formula pretty much remains unchanged. It has changed ownership from the older McGovern family to the younger Coit family and it still feels the same. Matthew used to bartend there for years and he is now the owner, but he pretty much runs the bar like Seamus & Geraldine did for decades. He also added & updated a few things to bring McGoverns to the modern tastes & cultures of going out to a bar. He's added entertainment including live music on the weekends, karaoke, trivia nights, and even open mic/stand up comedy nights. Almost any night of the week, there's something going on here. He's also added a stage, beer pong tables, a better juke box, video games, and air conditioning, which is good because this bar can get pretty crowded & stuffy with sweaty people drinking, partying, dancing, and just having a good time. The service is reliable & professional, thanks to long-time faithful bartenders like Asa, which is always nice to get service from. Matthew has added his own passion & interest in beers & whiskeys to the standard line up. Local microbrews & IPA's are now on tap next to the long time regular beers. He has bottles of craft beers, ciders, seltzers, and even good wine as an option. For those looking to splurge & venture out a bit, there's also top-shelf limited availability & new whiskeys to sample as a flight or to buy as shots & glasses. And of course, there's good cocktails & mixed drinks for those that are into those. All in all, this is a great place to meetup, hangout, or just do some reading or work. It's very spacious, has two entrances/exits, a massive beautiful decorative bar, and even a few booths and bar tables in case you want some privacy, quiet, or ambiance if you're on a date or having conversation. It isn't too noisy, it isn't too claustrophobic, it is t too chaotic. It's just the right blend of spacious & well-used space, enough things like music, tv, and games to keep you engaged, and mostly, good service, great drinks, and friendly people. This place has always been like Cheers to me, it's where everybody knows your name, even if I don't come around/go out much anymore because I'm an old hermit crab now. But on the nights that I do, I'll always remember to stop by here and have a good time.
