We loved visiting the new location of fire + wine! The restaurant had a great vibe and for as busy as it was, the service was excellent. Our waiter, Andrew, had great recommendations for food and drinks, and was attentive to food allergies. He double checked everything in our order for cross contamination and confirmed everything with us several times. The chicken caprese and steak were fantastic, and the white wine cake is a 10/10. Fire and Wine is brand new in St. Charles. We went on a Monday (half-price pasta) and it was packed. Everything was sparkling, from the silverware to the glassware. I started with and old-fashioned and it was great, a little on the sweet side for most people, but I like it that way. I also had a glass of the cabernet with dinner that I really liked. The menu is similar to that of some of the other restaurants in the group (Ellas, Livia, Gia Mia) but a little more extensive. The by-the-glass wine list is considerably larger than many places. For our group of five, four of us chose the Lobster Fra Diavolo. It was delicious, with just the right amount of spice. One of our four noticed there was no lobster in their pasta. We mentioned it to our server and the chef personally brought four extra bowls of lobster for us (note: only one dish was missing the lobster). Multiple people came to check on us. They really handled it well. We ordered a couple desserts to share but the standout was the Butterscotch Buddino. It was like a Crème Brûlée without the crispy top. So delicious! The service was great and with our one little issue, the really went above and beyond to make sure it was right. Definitely, a great addition to St. Charles! read more

We had a phenomenal dinner, beginning with a warm welcome from the host team and ending with a perfect round of post-dinner decafs. Our server, Soren, provided impeccable service, and the kitchen delivered beautifully presented, piping-hot plates. The value here is excellent, and we can't wait to return! One small note for the atmosphere: the hard surfaces make the room quite echoey. Some acoustic treatments to soften the sound would really take the dining experience to the next level. read more

Wow. Just had my bookend birthday meal at Fire & Wine in the NEW St. Charles location (mall area) by Coopers Hawk. Original Glen Ellyn location has the cozy vibe and this new location has an open, airy, mainstream upscale vibe--also better for groups but still good for pairs. St. Charles location also has bar seating for pairs or singles. All can enjoy. Strong menu at both. read more

Dinner for four on Wednesday 5/20 with reservations and seated upon arrival. They were busy. This is a new restaurant but by a familiar well-established restaurant company: BG Hospitality Group, which also manages the six Gia Mia, locations, the Livia location in Geneva, the Moto Imoto location in St. Charles and the three Ella's Italian Pub locations...but this is the first time they designed a restaurant from the ground up - and they did a wonderful job - A+ with a very classy look and layout. The food is good, but they have only been open a few days, so let them work out the kinks. The portions are fine and the service was exceptionally quick for the food and drinks but then became slow for the desert and bill. They messed up our pizza order, so they brought the correct one out quickly and a take home box for the incorrect one - very nice, appreciated and unexpected. The pasta (Rigatoni Bolognese) and fish (Blackened Whitefish) were cooked properly but the rigatoni was a little too al dente and the fish was perfect and so were the fingerling potatoes. The deserts: Butterscotch Budino and Ricotta Cheesecake . . . just say yes, you won't be disappointed. We all had fun. The atmosphere was nice. The seating was well thought out, and the noise level was just right for a restaurant of that size and pricing is very reasonable. They will get better and stronger with each passing week that goes by, is worthy of a "highly recommended" . . . and a welcome addition to the East side of town. read more

We got the meatballs, Asiago gnocchi (added chicken) and tiramisu. Everything tasted exquisite and the service couldn't have been better. From the bussers, bartenders, server, hosts and management, everyone went out of their way to check in with intentionality and kindness. The space is also really beautiful. BEAUTIFUL inside - staff is VERY attentive and customer service is some of the best I've experienced in a LONG time. Our waiter was Walter, who was FABULOUS - so attentive and professional. Manager is very customer focused. This seems rare these days so I WILL be back and highly recommend. We went for lunch. You must try the Salmon Salad (SO yummy and beautifully plated) and the Farmer's Chicken salad was very tasty too. I liked the tiramisu and butterscotch budino was simple and delicious. Went on a Friday night. So crowded and noisy we couldn't talk. Very poorly designed space with hard surfaces and no acoustics. Try to sit outside if possible. We ordered mushroom ravioli and blackened halibut and both were overly spicy. I'll add that we love the Glen Ellyn Fire &Wine so were pretty disappointed overall. read more

Ok, this was just our first visit so here are my first visit observations....seated right away and we had reservations for 6:15pm tonight..Saturday. They have been open for dining since May 5th. We were seated at a great corner booth table. No one greeted us or brought water for about 10 minutes or so. Our server did finally appear and gave us menus and waters. Took our drink orders and told us the evening specials. We ordered the appetizer special with him right away , grilled octopus and a side salad. It came right away but the octopus was cold..hmmm...not sure if it was supposed to be cold... he did tell us the bar was slow and he would check on our drinks. Drinks did finally come and he took our dinner orders. Husband ordered the whitefish and I ordered the rigatoni bolognese. Those plates also came out quickly. Mine was not hot. Our server came back after a few to check on us but at that time didn't offer Parmesan or grated pepper ...it was his second visit and I had nearly finished that he asked about those offerings. The meals were timely though not entirely memorable. The noise level in the restaurant is loud and we are not elderly people.. just want to have a conversation that we didn't feel is exhausting due to practically shouting. I'm feeling that it will be some time before we attempt this restaurant again. It needs a bit more time to properly train staff and get everything sharpened. read more

Just came here for my birthday and it was so good! I didn't know they are apart of the sister chain of Gia Mia and Ella's, it makes sense because the menu is very similar. The staff were super friendly and for it just opening, they were on top of their game! All the food came out fast and hot. A lady (most likely a manager) came around and asked how it was going, she was super helpful & nice. They have an amazing set up with the bar that goes from inside to out, and the outside bar meets the outside seating. That feature will be super nice for the summer! read more

The manager, Mel, was very accommodating when we entered. We didn't feel dressed enough (just off the golf course) to eat in the dining room, so we opted for outdoor dining. We sat at the bar. Lovely outdoor atmosphere for casual dining. The staff behind the bar were all eager to serve. Almost too much so, but very pleasant. My drink was delicious. I ordered the Over The Garden Wall. Loved it! While drinking it, I noticed a crack in the glass, and then a chip on the bottom of the stem. It wasn't leaking, so I drank it, but I brought it to the attention of the bartender. He offered to make another, but I passed. It was really fine since it wasn't leaking. We ordered dinner. I had the vegetable and Asiago. Cheese gnocchi. It was delicious!!! I would have preferred them to grill the bread that was included, rather than just a slice and serve. My husband ordered the pork chop medium. It came without any pink. We brought it to the attention of the manager and she said we should have sent it back. I agree. But my husband isn't typically one to do that. Next time we know to order it medium rare. It was a good size chop. All in all, for this new restaurant in town, the staff was great. I think perhaps I would have given the rating a 5 if they had taken off the glass of wine I ordered, as an accommodation. I never expect it, and probably would not accept it, but in terms of customer service to bring clients back, it would have been a grand gesture. We will go back again, as the food and drinks were good and staff was very nice. Please give this place a try. read more
