My Birthday Celebration in VATAN We recently visited Vatan for a birthday dinner and had a lovely experience. The restaurant doesn't take advance reservations, so it's first come, first serve, but thankfully there was enough space to sit comfortably without feeling crowded. The Indian Map with Vatan written on it looks impressive. The ambiance was pleasing. For drinks, I tried the pineapple drink, which was refreshing and light, a great start to the meal. The food menu had a wide variety, and we began with the dahi puchka shot, which was fun and flavorful. The kabab was cooked well, juicy, and seasoned just right. The Crockery used at the restaurant was good. Among the main dishes, the paneer was on the sweeter side, which some might enjoy, though I personally prefer it a bit spicier. The chicken tikka masala was delicious, rich in flavor, and definitely one of the highlights of the meal. Everything was served hot and in good portions, making it enjoyable to share among everyone at the table. Since it was a birthday, we also had a cake with us, and the staff was kind enough to let us cut it at the table. That small gesture made the evening feel even more special. Overall, Vatan offered good food, spacious seating, and a welcoming environment. It's a nice spot to celebrate with family or friends, especially if you enjoy a mix of classic and modern Indian dishes.

I ordered the mocktail called "Exotica" made with orange, mint, and passion fruit. Very flavorful

Tucked just a little off the path in St Charles, my husband and I found a new locally owned restaurant @vatan.progressiveindian that's bursting with authentic Indian cuisine flavor! They just opened this week on July 2nd. What we ordered: Three-cheese Naan Lobster curry with a regular spice level, you can pick your level of heat Makhani Paneer Chicken Tikka Masala Mocktail Ordered: Exotica- crafted with orange, mint, and passion fruit The customer service was exceptional from start to finish with our meal. The decor is very nice and the chairs are super comfy too.

    Great food!

Excellent food, fun drinks and great service in the far western suburbs. So glad to have more Indian food options out this way!

Wow, absolutely incredible! We were completely blown away from the moment we walked in. The ambience is beautiful, the food is outstanding, and the service is truly next level. The space itself is stunning, and the owner was so kind and welcoming. We had Suri as our server and she was fantastic-- warm, fun, and such a joy to chat with! Every dish was bold, flavorful, and presented beautifully. You can tell every detail in this place has been thoughtfully curated. I loved my mocktail, too! We highly, highly recommend and cannot wait to come back!

I will definitely be visiting avatan again. My husband and I dined here on a weeknight. The restaurant was moderately busy. No reservations. We do like spicy food. We ordered round of drinks, 2 appetizers and 3 entrees. I will say the prices are high but we enjoyed ourselves. I would do without the samosas next time. The tandoor shrimp stole the show. Butter chicken, PARDA BIRYANI and lobster curry were all outstanding. Garlic naan to top it off. The portions are small. The service was outstanding.

This is my new favorite place in Saint Charles. The food was outstanding, the decor is so nice and updated, and our server was fantastic! The whole staff was friendly and attentive. Must get the Tikka masala. Was the best one I've had. They have a great cocktail list along with mocktails, which was super nice! Cannot wait to come back

Had a great experience and the food was amazing! I would highly recommend going to experience something different and fabulous!

    Charred Chicken Tikka

Food is great. Almost justifies the price. Quick turnaround on carryout orders. The service could and should be way better for a restaurant of this quality.

They also changed up their cocktail menu, and we were super excited to see they had some new summer drinks. This is definitely one of my new favorite restaurants in the area. It's perfect for special occasions and date nights. The first two times we came we sat at the bar, but we came right when they opened and were able to be seated at a table. I love the candlesticks they have lit at the tables. There's a a view of the kitchen as well. To drink, I had the Dip in the Backyard Kiddie Pool (very refreshing) and Fresa Fresca (basically a strawberry margarita and it was super refreshing and tasted like strawberry juice). For dessert, we shared the oreo carjillo. It was pretty strong to me, but it definitely tasted like Oreos and milk! To eat as an appetizer, they gave us complimentary bread and butter and we ordered the sundried tomato oil to go along with it (a must). Their bread is so soft and fresh. We also got the bone marrow (forgot to get a photo), and it was some of the best we've had!! For our entrees, we got the two pasta dishes. They called them "small plates" but it was the perfect amount of food for us with our appetizers. I had the spicy carrot rigatoni pasta and it was super fresh. I love that they cooked the pasta al dente.

We loved everything about The Graceful Ordinary from the ambience to the amazing service (thanks Karen!) to the creative cocktails to the delicious food. When we arrived at the table, there was an anniversary card from the staff. Nice touch! We were brought a loaf of the warm housemade bread with whipped butter to begin. Hubby ordered the Having a Moment bourbon cocktail, and I had the Honey Kiss vodka and elderflower cocktail. Love their creative cocktail list. Karen was a fabulous server, so attentive and friendly. The other staff was on top of everything from water being refilled to clearing dirty dishes and even fresh butter brought to the table when it was low. Our needs were met before we even needed to ask. Also, since Karen knew that we were splitting all the courses, she automatically had the food split between two plates. I liked that. We decided to split everything we ordered. We started with the smoked salmon deviled eggs which were creamy delicious, not to mention beautifully presented. Our second starter was the bone marrow with caramelized shallots. This dish was absolutely amazing. My only critique would be to put four pieces of bread on the plate went two people are sharing. Our next course was a salad and we went with the roasted beet salad with blue cheese and sunflower shoots dressed in a warm bacon vinaigrette. Bacon - need I say more? Our main course was the walleye with ricotta gnudi, fava beans, peas and wild mushrooms. So many flavors and textures going on. The fish was perfectly seared and moist. Delectable. We thought about dessert but we were so full from dinner that we passed. Karen wouldn't let us go without a complimentary dessert in honor of our anniversary to enjoy at home, their signature butterscotch pot de crème with sea salt caramel. The Graceful Ordinary certainly made our anniversary special with the anniversary card at the table, and the complementary dessert. If you're in the western Chicago burbs, I highly recommend checking this restaurant out.

We initially tried to dine at Tia Carmen's downstairs, but the wait was too long--so we headed upstairs to Revolución instead. We were among the first guests. The service was friendly, though not particularly attentive. Our server didn't check in often, and we had to wait quite a while for water--thankfully, the busser eventually stepped in and kept our glasses full. The food was tasty overall. We weren't fans of the chips served with the guacamole; they were more like plain tortillas--dry and lacking salt. That said, the rest of the meal was enjoyable. My suggestion to management: even when it's slow, make sure tables have water and guests are checked on regularly. A little extra attentiveness would go a long way in improving the experience.

The Birria egg rolls were a bit on the smaller side but made a big impression with its preparation. I've never had birria wrapped in anything as crispy as the wonton wrapper this was wrapped in. The birria was flavorful while being tender and not being too salty. The white cheddar and chihuahua cheese added a small amount of extra saltiness and a bit more fat, which matched well with the chipotle aiola. The duck poutine was incredibly flavorful, while sitting on the edge of potentially being too bold. The fries were incredibly crispy though there was quite a bit of gravy on the dish and the white cheddar cheese curds did a great job of keeping the entire dish hot throughout the meal, while adding a little bit of extra flavor. The bacon and onion added some umami though it almost made the dish a bit too salty and the duck confit added a nice protein element. Overall a little pricey, but given the more unique menu and quality of both the flavors and textures, it's worth the premium. The food here is definitely memorable and in line with excellent options available in Geneva.

I don't want to sit at the bar next to your hyper pre-teen. The food is self serve. You order via your phone. Pick food up at the kitchen window. Food was decent enough. Plastic utensils. The bartenders (and I was one back in the day) were inattentive. Asked the busboy, who sort of lurked behind the bar washing glasses from time to time, for a box to go and he pointed to a table set up for to go orders. Thanks, man. Charging a 3% credit card fee when you don't accept cash is absolutely lame. Yes, debit cards are free. I didn't see that until after I paid the bill. There is a pour your own draft system with about a dozen beers but that doesn't impress me. An undersized bags, bocce and putting green. Some decent new arcade games. I guess it works just fine as a Chuck E Cheese alternative with fewer games and a full liquor bar. I can safely say that I won't be going here again for a date night or otherwise.
