Fast, friendly service. This store is NOT inside the mall which makes it convenient if you don't want to walk inside the mall. Clean restrooms and plenty of dining space inside. So, the subs were pretty good! Not unlike any other Firehouse subs location. Very good service from the cashier as well, and there's a coke freestyle machine. Here's the problem: the kitchen isn't separate from the dining room, and there ISN'T a FUME HOOD! In a restaurant themed around fire fighting! How is this allowed? Just park and walk in. Very clean inside and colorful with that familiar firehouse theme decor. Step up to the cash register and place your order. The menu board is up above with most of the classic subs and one or two with Firehouse Subs take on it. Or just custom order your sub, hot or cold. They'll prepare it while you wait. The combo gets you chips and drink for a little more. They've got one those Coke machines where you pick from a variety of soda types and a multitude of flavors for your favorite carbonated beverage. The sandwiches are served on nice soft rolls that don't make you feel like you're stuffed with bread. The ingredients are fresh and satisfying. There are TVs front and back to watch while you munch. We placed an order on doordash. There was a listed cutoff time for orders at 8:40pm, with the restaurant closing at 9:00pm. We placed the order at 8:30, before the order cutoff and well before the restaurant closed. However, when our dasher arrived at 8:55 (i know because my gf was watching the map in the app to see when he arrived) he was told that he could not be given our order as it was too close to 9pm. I can not believe that they took our order, confirmed it, took payment for that order, and then refused to fill the order. I am absolutely disgusted by the lack of service I received. read more

I can not believe I spent 32.24on this trash. I loved Firehouse Subs. I ordered three steak and cheeses. Two were supposed to have lettuce and tomato. They were missing and they were dry!!! There was barely any cheese on the kids ham and cheese. I had to run and pick up other food and by the time I got home, that's when I noticed my order was wrong. Every firehouse I have ever been to has been a pleasant experience. Except this one. The floors are sticky, like lose a shoe sticky. The service is slow and when I finally got my sandwich it had NO MEAT! They gave me all the toppings but left the turkey and beef out. Good luck if you decide to gamble your money here. We used to love coming here but as of late they have hired too many kids who don't care about customer service or making quality product. I think all young staff need a mature person to make sure they do what they are hired to do. Our sandwiches were gross and were missing ingredients. I just left the firehouse sub in south park circle in colonial heights Virginia and was ordering food to go when my cousin and I noticed three of their female employees talking a bunch of crap about us while they were making our sandwiches. Im only giving one star cause the food was good. I am extremely annoyed and pissed off that women have the audacity to stand around and talk bad about other women especially when they don't know the first thing about us. I am disgusted that these women work in customer service and completely lack the ability to show kindness to their paying customers. I've worked in the restaurant field for a few years and have come to the realization that people like these young women are the reason why employees who work in customer service can be stereotyped as being unprofessional, ignorant and inexperienced. Being kind to others and learning not to judge people without even knowing them are two basic skills that we learn when we're kids. One girl had long pink hair, one girl was brunette and petite with freckles and the other girl had short hair that was bleached blonde. I would advise the manager sit down with the three of them and explain that their behavior was unacceptable for it is in their best interest and the restaurants to lose the negativity. We ordered two club subs -- that are supposed to come with bacon on them. Get home -- no bacon and the ham is like rubber. We didn't even finish either sandwich. Wasted money -- since we did not receive all the meats that it is supposed to come with. Then threw the rest of the sandwiches away. We will not return to this particular store for subs. read more

I have ordered subs at the Firehouse Subs in Colonial Heights many times a, both take out and eat in, and have never had a bad experience until last night when I placed a take out order. My bad experience last night was beyond frustrating and maybe not even worth 1 star I have given this review. Last night, early evening, I ordered a medium Hook and Ladder and a medium Club on a Sub, which is essentially a Hook and Ladder with bacon, both fully loaded. I should have known something was amiss when the fellow taking my order did not ask me for the size of each sandwich, ask the type of bread desired, or if I wanted either sandwich heated, which has never happened before. Another warning sign that this was going to be a bad experience that I dismissed was upon arrival, the employees working there were not as engaging and courteous as in previous visits and gave me the impression that they would rather be somewhere else. It takes me approximately 20 minutes to get to the Colonial Heights location from my home and 20 minutes back. I picked up my order and went home. In hindsight, I should have checked my order before leaving for home, but since I have never had a bad experience previously, I did not; big mistake! After I arrived home, the first thing I noticed is that both subs were in large containers, neither of which were marked to identify what they contained, which is something that they have always done when I have ordered take out. When I opened the containers to identify which sub was which, I found that both subs were very sloppily prepared, with mayo/dressing pooled up in the bottoms of both containers, the meat in both sandwiches was piled up in the middle of both subs and not spread out over the length of each sub, and since being packed in oversized containers, both sandwiches shifted around inside while in transit and started coming apart with toppings heavily covered with mayo/dressing spilling out of them into the containers. This necessitated deconstructing both sandwiches and reconstructing them so they could be properly eaten. When I deconstructed both soggy sandwiches, there were more problems. I did not receive what I had ordered. Instead of 1 Hook and Ladder and 1 Club on a Sub, I received 2 Hook and Ladders (no bacon on either sandwich). I also noticed that the lettuce on both sandwiches was not fresh, as indicated by the brown color of the lettuce that was hard to see at first glance due to the excessive amount of mayo/dressing. The lettuce was scraped off of both sandwiches and thrown out. With so much mayo/dressing covering everything, my guess is that the excessive mayo/dressing was added to hide the brown lettuce. I also did not receive pickle spears for either sandwich, which they are supposed to have. I thought about returning to the store for a refund, but instead of wasting another 40 minutes of driving time, and now being in a foul enough mood to know better than to go and possibly say or do something regretful, I made another decision. Although anyone can have a bad day at work, the service and product quality were inexcusable and most definitely NOT worth the $14.68 that these 2 unappetizing sandwiches cost. While the Firehouse Subs location in Colonial Heights is 20 minutes from my home, there is a Subway less than 10 minutes away. The next time I am in the mood for a sub, guess where I will go! I love Firehouse Subs in general, but this location needs work. I understand that everyone makes mistakes but a every single time I have visited this location I have had the same issue with my order.... no bacon on my sandwich! I usually order a CLUB and faithfully it has no bacon on it. The first couple times I let it slide because not everyone may realize that a club has bacon on it but after a few more times of it happening I have realized that something is going wrong with the training perhaps. It has gotten to the point now when I go to this location I tell the cashier please don't forget the bacon. Today I decided to step out of the box and order the Turkey BACON Ranch assuming my order would be right because heyyy BACON is in the title of the sandwich. Welp I was wrong I picked up my order got all the way back to work and there is no bacon on my sandwich. This is ridiculous! This place stole $43 from me via debit card. I called them that evening and explained that they had charged me $43 for what supposed to actually be a free lunch, but would've cost around $10 and was told to speak with the franchise owner so I left my number. The next day I got no call so I went in and explained it to her and her employee confirmed what happened. She told me that it was not her problem. Finally we agreed that she would refund half and I could get part back from my buddy as they had his lunch on the tab I paid. I waited a week and got no refund so I disputed it with the bank. A month later I see she has manipulated them too, so I'm out $43 for a lunch based on one of her employee's mistakes and her poor customer service. I recommend using cash only if you decide to do business with this place as they have refused to rectify a mistake when they overcharge.
