Neighbor ordered a sub 3 weeks ago via Uber food delivery, for us to share for lunch. I have been meaning to write this review but was so grossed out I blew it off. The meat was exactly like the 2-ounce packs you get in the grocery store for a buck. You know the stuff -- "Buddig" meats like chipped beef etc. Or the thin-slices you can get at Wal-Mart for 4 bucks a pound in the packaged lunchmeat section, under the Wally World store brand name. The sub was WET ! And slimy ! Gross ! Half the thickness -- and ingredients -- you see in the ad pictures. read more

We have eaten at this Firehouse Subs many times. Since the pandemic started, we now order To-Go and have never been disappointed. We always order individually prepared sandwiches. One child loves extra olives, one doesn't like onions or tomatoes, etc. My husband always wants extra lettuce and onions. I love their Hook and Ladder sandwich. My husband loves their Steak and Cheese. Our three children order various sandwiches and my youngest loves the Firehouse Chili. Our order is very complicated but we have (so far) gotten everything exactly as we ordered. I am happy that Firehouse Subs practices safe pandemic protocols. Since some people in our family have underlying health conditions, we feel safe ordering To-Go items knowing they use masks and gloves to prepare our food safely. read more

Went in today for a late lunch. They were hardly any customers there but the staff seem to be too busy talking. Nobody greeted me, after odering my sandwich, I sat and waited, and waited. Finally I asked if they had forgotten mine and the finally figured out that they had probably put mine in with someone else's order. Let me start with this. As my family and I entered the business we were not greeted at all by the Ghetto staff. When they saw all 9 of us they muttered something under their breathe to each other which was rude, as if doing work was so hard. My brother just graduated basic training an was in his class A uniform and I'm a veteran and thought a fire house sub shop would be respectful and polite. The food was good however, but that's because it's a sandwich shop and it takes a lot to screw up a sandwich that has directions how to make it. Stopped by on our way home from vacation. We've had Firehouse before so it should be the same. We were greet d with the typical, "Welcome to Firehouse" chant. Placed our order and then realized that the place wasn't really built for dine-in as it was extremely cramped. We didn't have much of a selection of seating for my family of four and our friends of five. Many of the tables were lacking a wipe of a rag. Food arrived promptly but had items we requested to be left off (tomatoes). After eating we visited the restrooms but before that I had to knock a cockroach off the doorknob before entering. Restroom seemed to be clean and didn't smell bad at all especially after the eye level, Glade room sprayer sprayed in my face while getting a paper towel. Thank goodness I wear glasses or I would have been in trouble. Other than the small issues, it was a pleasant, refreshing visit. The spray also lingered with us for the rest of the way home. I frequent this location often, and until recently was satisfied with the food and the service. Something seems to have happened in the past several months and they have disappointed me (and from the looks of other reviews, I am not the only one) a few times now. 1. I went a few months ago, and my bread (which I did not realize they were capable of screwing up) was overbaked and really dry. Yuck. It made me not want to eat it. If they weren't so crowded and I wasn't in such a hurry, I would have asked for a new sandwich. 2. I went a few weeks and called in my order so I could pick it up (I do not like waiting bc Firehouse does seem to be kind of on the slow side when it comes to preparing the food) when I got there. I was in a hurry, so this seemed like a good idea. Well, I got there 10-15 minutes later (they told me on the phone my order would be ready in 10-15 minutes) and not only was it not ready, they had not even begun to make it. Hello? A couple in front of me in line got their food before me. And that was after showing up and ordering it on the spot, NOT calling it in in advance. Great. When all was said and done, I ended up having to wait about 15 minutes for my food from the time I got there. So, I called in my order, and it was about 25 minutes from then that it was ready and I could leave. RIDICULOUS. They were NOT busy. And NO ONE apologized. So annoying. I used to love this place and knew I could depend on them to be quick and do things right. No more. We have another location in Columbus, and I will be going to that one the next time I want Firehouse. Really sad, because the Macon Road location is so convenient for me. However, definitely NOT worth the hassle and the sorry service. Hopefully they can get their act together soon. However, I am not sure I will ever return, and if I do, it will not be anytime soon! Stars for food and beverage. Not certain what has happened at this location. Staff use to be friendly and helpful. I am physically challenged and they use to bring our order to the table. Last visit in August was a disappointment. The staff seemed bored and the restaurant was packed for lunch. The atmosphere had an air of depression. People were walking out in frustration of the slow service. If someone was sitting at the end corner, They would hand them their food. Guess not any more. They did fawn over a soldier and his family. The female was ridiculous in her flirting, right in front of his wife. Their son stated he was his daddy and he was married to his mommie. The restaurant needed to be policed.. That's a term for clean the floors, wipe out the seat, tables. If it weren't for the good food. I'd just go to Publix Deli. I hope that they raise the morale and soon.
