I hadn't been to Firehouse Subs in awhile. I remembered that it was always warm inside and since the windchill was 29, warm sounded so good! Not one to waver from a good thing, I ordered the Hook and Ladder but instead of my usual salt and vinegar chips, I decided to try something new - the macaroni and cheese. I'm so often disappointed when I vacillate from my normal and this time was no exception. The mac and cheese was like soup. Not just a little watery - it was even thinner than a cream soup if that was possible (apparently it was possible). The lettuce floating on top like a garnish did nothing to help the matter. Two bites and that was all I could handle. The sandwich was a mess as served - the meat was all on one end and it was quite overdressed with mayo which made the bun slide around. I did a little rearranging and the sandwich, at least, was as good as I remembered. I can't say I won't be back, that Hook and Ladder will eventually "hook" me back in. Next time, however, there won't be any deviation from my go to meal. read more

For 1. The girl taking my order seemed like she was stoned. 2. Ordered my food, got home to see literally half of the sandwich was missing. (The meat) Had to drive back to the sandwich shop and walked in to the workers laughing because they obviously knew I would return once I realized my food was incorrect. Awful customer service. How does an owner of 20 years know absolutely Nothing about the app for her business. There were three other employees and not one of them knew anything. There were more employees than customers. I went to get my birthday sub and she said she couldn't honor it because they had new owners and I was a day late. So you're going to run off a great customer over a day. Never once did any of them say Happy Birthday. It was AWFUL. I won't be back. I'll stick with Subway or make my own. Please learn some customer service skills and train your employees. If I could give a ZERO, I would. There was a sign on the door that they are closing early due to lack of employees. You can never get anyone on the phone. There's more than enough staff available. I walked in and there's 4 to 5 employees just standing around and only one customer was present. I have been trying to call to place my order to pick up and go and even called while they were taking my order at the counter just to see if it rang on their end and the phone works perfectly fine. Craving a sub after a long hard day of moving. I got there about 20 minutes before closing I was afraid I would receive horrible service since I was right there at closing time, instead! I love Firehouse. It's definitely a step up from Subway. I always get the Hook and Ladder and have always been satisfied. For a Medium Hook and Ladder Combo with chips and a drink it's 9.25$. This sub shop has some really delicious hot subs. The Italian is extra tasty with the classic Italian meats like pepperoni and salami. I also really enjoy their meatball sub and "The Engineer" which is a turkey sub with mushrooms. The menu is not the most extensive sub menu out there but the hot subs really are top notch. The place gets pretty busy during lunch so be ready to wait a little bit for your order. The firehouse theme is a cute idea and I always love the murals they have on the wall of local firemen. They have a huge number of hot sauces on the counter which I think brings a little kick to any sub and is a little something extra to make a sub shop stand out. read more

I give 'em a four, overall. Our hot sandwich was very good. The wife and I split one. It was somewhat small for splitting, so she went back and got us a brownie. They were fast this Sunday evening. However, they weren't too busy. Our cashier was a young gal; the name on the receipt is Sydney J. No wait to order, and the sandwich came to our table in one minute! There was a strong free WiFi signal that didn't require a password. However, I'm not sure whose router that was. The sidewalk tables look like a good place to watch a sunset during supper. read more

Add to the fact my wife had a piece of plastic wrapper in her sub and I'd give 1/2 star if I could. We WON'T ever be going back here, that's for sure. After forgetting to pack my lunch for work today, I asked my husband to stop by here to get me a sandwich. He placed an order for me at 1:12pm and did not actually receive my food until 2:26pm He asked the staff (nicely) what was taking so long and they informed him they had his order and was working on it. Throughout his time there, he checked multiple times and was told they were working in it. Though I wasn't personally there'd he reports that the workers were moving VERY slow despite having a lot of work to do. I'm sorry, but it does not take nearly an hour and a half to make a sandwich. After getting tired of waiting, he asked for a refund and was informed that he couldn't get one because he used a third party ordering service. They should have apologized, offered him a store credit or a gift card or something, and got RIGHT on the order on the fly. Especially since they let him know that it was because they had lost the ticket for our order. They could have just asked what it was! Then, when he got my sandwich it wasn't even correct. He had ordered me a turkey & provolone sandwich with mushrooms, lettuce, and mayo. Instead, that I got was a turkey and provolone sandwich with mushrooms, wilted lettuce, tomato, onion, mustard (EW) and A POUND of mayonnaise. I stopped by Firehouse around noon on Wednesday and it was very busy. My order was taken after waiting in line for 5 minutes. I ordered the under 500 calorie Chicken Salad sandwich and then proceeded to get my drink and wait. The drink machine is awesome! You can choose so many different flavor of drinks - I loved trying new combinations! The wait time was a bit too long, especially for a sandwich that doesn't have to be steamed. People who ordered after me got their food before I did (which drives me crazy in a sub place). I finally got my food after about 15 minutes and it was good but a little too oniony for my taste. I love firehouse but I will never come back to this particular store. Service was slow!!! Entire staff moved like they were moving through glue. We arrived at 12:45 got our food at 1:23. Almost 30 mins for two sandwiches. Then the made the order to go!! once we ordered we looked around and noticed that 6 other tables were waiting on their food. The staff continued to mess up orders, sandwiches came out cold, and not one of the staff apologized for their service when confronted. Not one staff member smiled or welcomed anyone to the store. I first went to this shop a few months ago. I was third or fourth in line when I walked in. They took the orders of everyone in front of me then busied themselves working on their orders. They finally got around to taking my order when all of them were complete. They then took my order and those of the people that were in line behind me - all of which got their order before I got mine. Swore I'd never go back. However, I thought I'd give them another chance recently (I was hungry and in a hurry!). I was the only customer in the place. They took my order quickly and yet it took a while before they actually started to fix my sandwich (#1, I think). The food was good. If you're trying to model your efficiency after a fire house then they have a long way to go. It took almost 20 minutes to get a steak and cheese sub. I'll give it to Jimmy John's, by the time you pay and walk to the end of the counter your sub is ready to go. This place is so slow, you could drive over to Jimmy John's get a sub come back and sit down, eat your sub and still be waiting for your sub. Once your sub is ready they send some poor lady out to search for your number, and hopefully she will find you before your food gets cold. I would say for a hot sub I prefer them over Jersey Mike's. I really like the subs; however, this particular spot has a problem with customer service. My first bad experience came when I ordered the Pork and Slaw sandwich (which I have enjoyed several times). I happened to actually find a small bone-chip in the sandwich. When I brought it to the attention of the manager she apologized and that's it. No effort was made to really reconcile the mishap. More recently, I drove over during work to take out a Steak and Cheese. I ordered it without the onions, peppers and mushrooms. I brought back to my desk and low-and-behold it was smothered with the offending vegetation. I called up and they were quick to say that I could pick up another. I took them up on it and returned to pick up my new sandwich. Right as he (I believe it was actually a manager making my sandwich) was wrapping the sandwich, I noticed they had used the wrong bread. I didn't have time to have them make a third sandwich and again, there was no offer to reconcile the mistake (maybe offer a bag of chips would be appropriate?)
