That attention is a luxury these days and I wanted to make a note of that. The cashier would go from table and ask if anyone needed anything and we got into a discussion of how good the tempura green beans are. This is a hidden gem she gets everyday and I agree. It is lightly breaded, crunchy, and pairs excellent with ranch. Now I couldn't wait to rave about the burgers. Hands down the best "fast food". The burgers came out medium and perfect. I got the double and char burger with lettuce tomato, onion, bacon, cheese, mayo, ketchup, and mustard. The burgers came was juicy and reminded me of home cooked burger. Each bite the taste was of a cornucopia of flavors blending together of perfect harmony. I just can't give justice to these burgers you have to try for yourself. The name of this place fits what will be doing in the future....making a habit of coming here!

I was excited to see they sold Pepsi products;) I found a booth in the front of the restaurant facing Beach Boulevard. The table was positioned close to the seats which we liked. And the seats were cushy and comfortable. Half the burger was covered in paper so your hands don't get messy while eating. Nice! The sandwich included a chargrilled beef patty, shredded lettuce, tomato, pickles, and caramelized onions. I love onions but caramelized onions took it to another level. And it was topped with mayo on a toasted bun. The burger was fresh and juicy and there were plenty of fixins. The sweet potato fries were hot and yummy. But my friends tempura green beans stole the side order show. They were lightly breaded and fried and served with a side of ranch for dipping. I couldn't get enough of them! I can't wait to go back and order them again;))

It's a one-person operation, so service can be a bit slow, but the food feels authentically made with care. We ordered the 2 burritos, 2 tacos, and a drink deal. Burritos are medium-sized, comparable to Chipotle, and while one is enough for me, the full combo would just satisfy a bigger appetite. The burritos were a bit soggy and could've been more generously filled. The tacos were the stars -- palm-sized but packed with flavor. The tripa taco was perfectly fatty and crispy, while the lengua was soft and flavorful. I'd come back for the tacos over the burritos. Drinks are self-serve from a cooler in front of the truck. There are two self-serve salsas -- a fresh green one and a spicier red; I preferred the red for its kick. Price-wise, it's on the higher end for a taco truck, which might be a drawback for some. Still, the taste delivers. If you're not in a rush and want a casual, no-frills taco stop with strong flavors, Jalapeño Express is worth trying.

Just be aware of that if you go here for dinner. You may want to be early. Tijuana Flats has pretty wild decor. It's different and hard not to like it. However, it seems to have some age on the interior and I think it could use some renovation. But people really like coming here. You can tell there are a lot of regulars, especially on Taco Tuesday. Though I didn't have the taco meal deal, I can say on Tuesdays you can get two tacos, chips, and a beverage for $7.00. And the tacos are pretty good-sized. In fact, most of the dinner plates I observed here were Taco Tuesday meals. But I wanted to try something more on the speciality side. I chose the enchiladas with the verde sauce. I didn't heat it up with any salsa - I actually forgot about that! But they were good in their own right. It does contain six items, but you can decline any of them if you choose to. The garlic lime bowl is something very much worth your time! You can choose from three different proteins and we had the beef version. It's sauced up well. The cheese and other veggies warmed on a layer of grounded beef and rice was pretty excellent and worth trying again in the future. I think customers would be happy with either of these. The service provided on this evening was pretty solid overall. They give good attention to the customer at the counter and the ones in the dining area. It took a while to come visit a Tijuana Flats restaurant. But it sure was worth it! Recommend: HIGH
