Stopped here on a whim, only I didn't know they were so close(I saw the Starbucks next door, but not the Firehouse Subs) . Clean place with DirecTV on, friendly staff, though the fella who took my order could cut down on the energy drinks. I didn't understand him a few times, he talked so doggone fast, but he was as friendly as everyone else, so, all good. Ordered a Firehouse Combo with the Club sub. Dee-lish! Their restrooms are gender-neutral, and relatively clean(Having hundreds of people coming through your doors all day will often result in less-than-clean restrooms) I know this is nitpicking, but, maybe they can leave the plungers and toilet brushes somewhere else? First time here and I won't be back! The person behind the register taking the order was rude and I told her I'd never been here and asked for suggestions. She just pointed to the menu with no offers of helping. She wore her hat down low covering her face so u couldn't even hear her. Then I ordered a soda and she doesn't even hand the cup over she just pointed to the cups and said grab one. It was weird and felt rude... I sent a complaint that was supposedly received by the corporate office and no reply. I figured that I would send an email rather than have to listen to the (very descriptive) mockery song of "having to be on hold" being played while on hold. (Nothing like putting vinegar on an open wound for those who have a legit complaint! Wow.) I've gotten sandwiches, in the past, from other locations and it is rather a "feel good" purchase knowing that the $ will help out first responders. This location in Laguna Woods was beyond bad -- it was dire. I walked in and the woman working there was busy...absolutely understandable & no problem. (I was the only one in line.) I waited approx'ly 4 minutes or so, with a "someone will be right for you" about a minute into it. "No problem", I replied. About a min later, she called out for her coworker (in the back) to come out. A bit of time went by, and the swinging door "flung" open and out walked a guy with a look of "what-do-you-want-I-hate-my-job" frozen glare on his face. He made a "left hook" to the sink to (supposedly) wash his hands. I made of point of really watching him at the sink, because I felt that this guy was no way going to really bother even cleaning his hands. After quickly flicking his hands under non-running water and then quickly grabbing two paper towels to "dry" his bone-dry hands, he asked me what I wanted. (There was no way that I was going to let his unwashed hands handle a pair of disposable gloves, if they wear them, to make my lunch.) Knowing that this guy, even openly, doesn't care about cross-contamination...you can bet that my lunch order went out the window. Thinking quickly, I told him that I just wanted a couple of cookies...that were wrapped. He told me that the amount was $3. I handed him three one-dollar bills and he stared at them in his hand seemingly a bit confused. (Was this a complex transaction or having to count any change given?) I absolutely got the impression that he was either high or stoned. I left quickly, afterwards. Giving this review two-stars, instead of one, for the female employee, in the afternoon shift, who even bothered to call Alec to come out. I got the turkey salad and paid for double turkey. When I got to *bucks and set up, I was pretty disappointed with the amount of turkey included in the $9.24(?) double turkey salad. Looking at the other sandwiches in the image list makes me feel like they forgot it. I didn't go back and ask for clarification because I had set up my laptop, backpack, and drink at *bucks next door and I would have had to repack everything. On the plus side, it was a nice, fresh, healthy, and tasty salad. Probably half to 1 full star above the equivalent at Subway. Staff were nice and patient with me while I waded through the menu. My wife and I came here on a Saturday afternoon, it was our first time trying this place despite living nearby for many years. Camden was working and was super polite and had a great attitude. We ordered a couple subs and sat on the patio to enjoy them. Camden appeared to be working solo but our food was out quickly and exactly as ordered. 4.5+! Wow, I found a great sandwich shop (thanks to Yelp!)! Thankfully, the other sandwich shops I'd bookmarked were closed; otherwise, I wouldn't have discovered Firehouse Subs. The place is very casual, but appreciatively clean; the staff quickly greeted me, and was friendly. I like that the menu included descriptions and pictures. I ordered a Brisket and Cheddar as well as a Chicken Bacon Ranch; both were generous in size, satisfyingly warm, and SO flavorful; the soft sandwich roll and the mayonnaise, another dressing, and/or sauces that separates these sandwiches from other stiff, dry, and bland sandwiches I've had. The online portal doesn't let you use coupons for to go order. They don't have curbside pickup. And I went there on 10/02/2020. I told the cashier three times no lettuce, no pickle and no cherry pepper. I also pointed out to the cashier that they had it wrong on the receipt and that it shouldn't have those things, they said they know. 30 minutes later, I get the take out drive back home super excited to try out a fire subs sandwich for the first time, opened it up and it has lettuce. This is my favorite sandwich chain around! Staff is friendly and professional; always serving with a smile. I have had 0 problems with their catering service and I have never gotten a wrong order. The sandwiches though are the best part: fresh and filled with flavor! I honestly was worried about just regular "subway" quality when I first ordered from here, but there is something about the way they do their sandwiches that is unreal! At this price point I expected more in terms of quantity. The child size sandwich was $7.00 alone and goes to $10.00 for a normal size small (everywhere else). The sandwich was okay but disappointing (due to the cost). My wife and I were close by and needed some fast dinner with an easy pick up and I am so glad we found this place! The subs were awesome! I know a little strange but the Italian one I had was 10x better than anything at subway or any other sub chain restaurant. My wife had a turkey sub and she said she also really enjoyed. We will most definitely be back to check out what other kinds of subs this place has to offer. The pickup was extremely easy and they were ready even though I got there a little earlier than my pickup. The ordering tool online was also easy to use. As far as price, we just got two subs and it was only around $13 bucks which I did not think was bad at all! I was not able to get pictures because well we killed those subs as soon as we got them. I am so tired of paying for things that you never receive from food establishments. I just paid $27 for two large sandwiches, one with extra meat. Really? I love the idea of Firehouse Subs donating to first responders. The sandwiches are great - far better quality meats and bread than Subway or Jersey Mikes. That being said - the service and attitude of those minimum wage workers is horrible. This is the second time we got our order home and there were no pickles. That really ticked me off. I called the store and asked to speak to the manager. "What?" he said. Can I speak to your manager? "There is no manager here". I asked him if pickles were supposed to come with the sandwiches, or if you had to ask for them. I was told by the boy with the attitude "well, ya, they're supposed to come with them." I told him we didn't get ours - and this was the second time this has happed. His excuse was, well it could happen if we were getting ready to close. It was Friday at 7:15!!! Ok, first I love the bread! The size of the sandwich is perfect. The store is clean and the staff friendly. They make the sub behind the counter and you don't have to stand and instruct them. When they are done they bring the sandwich out to the table, so order sit down and relax. Don't worry, they have plenty of seating inside and a patio area. I prefer the patio area, although it is on a busy street corner. You may not know this, but you can round your order up to the nearest dollar and that change goes to help firefighters and families of firefighters who have been injured or lost on the job. This is a great charity and I always round my order up. Now when you are ordering they are going to ask you a lot of questions about your sub. They tend to forget about asking if you would like to round up at this location. Make sure you remind them! It is for a good cause. Not all reviews are going to be 100% positive. For the negatives on this location. 1) They should remind themselves to ask you to round up. 2) Parking can be difficult at times because it is a pretty busy lot with a Starbucks right next door. read more
