Went here yesterday and what a dissapointment it was. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich. The service was quick and professional. But the sandwich was horrific. First the bread which was wheat was way over dense/thick not light and airy. The chicken salad had no seasoning and way to much celery. So, when you took a bite all that could be tasted was the thick wheat bread and celery. No other flavors at all - it was a wheat bread and celery sandwich! I was going to buy a cookie or a chocolate brownie, but the cookie was hard as rock and the brownie could have been used to break a car window. I gave two stars because hopefully their other sandwiches are better. But to screw up something so simple as chicken salad, well I am not going to find out about their other sandwiches. I will just drive right by on may way to Green Acres Market in Simi Valley for my sandwiches. Yet another example of the power of advertising. read more

This was my first time visiting and I have never met such nice people. They were very welcoming and kind. I didn't know what I wanted and they proceeded to explain to me how the menu works. As a result of them helping me out immensely, I had the best sandwich in my entire life, I'm telling you, I was going in there starving and cranky and immediately became a ray of sunshine because of them. First off, wow! What a greatly run sandwich establishment! It is rare in America that you walk into a corporate "fast food" type of establishment and receive 5-star excellent service. I say in America because I've been overseas in Asia and they go to the next level and beyond because it's part of their culture. But this place is right on par with that high quality customer service you expect to see in somewhere like Japan. Immediately upon walking in here I was greeted with a cheery 'Hello, welcome to firehouse!" I looked at the menu for a minute and ordered my sandwich. The lady helping me, I think was the manager, but she was super friendly and helpful and even offered me a cup of water while I waited for them to make the sub, which I thought was a great touch. I used to eat at firehouse subs all the time when I lived on the East Coast, but I hadn't been to one in forever since living out here in California. When I finally found that there was one nearby I was so excited, but at the same time worried that it might not be as good here as it was back home. I was not disappointed! I ordered the New York Steamer and it was just as good as I remembered it to be. Absolutely delicious! I wish there was one closer to me, but at least it's not too far. I highly recommend the hook & ladder, new York steamer, smokehouse brisket, or really just absolutely anything from here will be really good. They have a ton of different hot sauces to choose from as well on their counter, with a number scale on them showing the level of spicy-ness. Pretty neat! This place is 1000x better than subway or jersey mikes or any of those other popular sandwich establishments, in my opinion. read more

Just tried the food here for the first time and I'm happy I did. It was honestly better than I expected it to be. Brendan helped me out and gave me the run down since I hadn't eaten there before. He was incredibly helpful and very personable. You don't usually receive good service like that most places anymore so it was a breath of fresh air. Definitely going to be coming back soon. I enjoy the food here, and I come here very often. My only complaint is the service can be very slow. Like glacial. But they make up for that in the fact that they have NEVER gotten my order wrong even once in more than 10 visits. This place ranks among the top sub shops. Best way to describe it is a Quiznos on steroids. Subway gets blown away here. The sandwiches are excellent. The Italian sub is a must try. They turkey, ham, all cold cuts are shaved onto sandwich and have such great flavor. The brownies are amazing as well. They have one of the Coke machines where you can create 100's of flavors as well, which is also a plus. The steak and cheese is decent, tastes a lot like Jersey Mikes steak sandwich. Stick to the hot sandwiches with ham, turkey, and Italian. Also the kids get a free fireman hat which is a hit with the kids. read more

My husband read an article in one of the papers and suggested we try this place out. We arrived around 1:30 pm and the place was packed. My husband ordered a large Hook & Ladder sand that has a combination of shaved turkey & honey ham. I ordered a smoked turkey on whole wheat and we were both extremely satisfied. As far as price we thought it was reasonable. The workers are all young and very friendly. We will definitely return to try a different sandwich. They also serve chopped salads if you are not a sub lover. read more

I have been wanting to try this place ever since I spotted the dalmatian tables in a CTFxC video on youtube. I finally made it out to Simi Valley and went straight to this place. My mom and I walked in and were greeted by friendly staff. We told them it was our first time there and they told us all about the place and what they offer there. We both tried the hook & ladder light (with yellow mustard instead of deli). I was hoping I wouldn't love it because we don't live close by at all but it was so delicious and enjoyable. YUM. They use quality freshly sliced meats instead of what you normally get at Subway or other low quality chains. When we were done, someone came by to take away our trays for us. The decor is really cute and clean.. as well as the bathrooms.. and I even got to take home a firehouse hat (who cares if it's for 'kids' :P) When you round up your purchase, it goes towards helping the community. Overall, a home-run and worthwhile visit.. we left smiling and can't wait to go back again. Props to the kind and friendly staff doing a great job. My only complaint is that there aren't more in southern california, please open some in the west la area! read more

My favorite sub place in Simi. Fresh, fast and very friendly. I love the hook and ladder my husband gets the turkey and cranberry (reminds him of thanksgiving). Their food are no doubt very delicious and staff are friendly. But I think they need to not rush the customers who are dining in. The staff comes to our table like every 2 minutes asking if you are done with the tray so they can take it away. I stumbled upon this place one day on my lunch break. I got a chance to talk to Christy the owner and she explained to me the technique they use to cook their meat is different than Subway, Quiznos, Etc. Instead of running the subs thru the toaster, (which can tend to dry out the bread meat and cheese) they put the goods in a steam box that provides some of the juiciest, flavorful, succulent, meaty sandwiches in town. It is not often that I am impressed by a dining experience.... But Firehouse sure knocked my socks off! I would recommend the meatball marinara, the turkey bacon ranch, and the beef brisket! My husband and I stumbled across Firehouse Subs in Simi Valley (1263 H1 Simi Town Center Way, Simi Valley, CA 93065) today. It turns out that today was the grand opening. My husband had the corned beef brisket sandwich, one of hot specialty subs. I had the Italian with grilled chicken salad. The food was delicious, and the portions were just right! There are 50 or more different flavors of hot sauce (I've never seen such a selection), and the soda machine is a very cool Coca-Cola Freestyle that serves beverages with 120+ drink options. Even though the place was packed, the service was excellent. The managers and staff were friendly and accommodating. I will be visiting Firehouse Subs frequently, and I'm going to give their catering a try for my next staff lunch meeting. read more

Visited this place tonight and was not impressed and won't be returning. Way overpriced for NOT much food. Kids menu is a joke. The sandwich is the size of a dinner roll with very little meat on it. Our kids were still hungry when done. Food Line workers are unprofessional as they were visiting (flirting) with a girl the entire time they were preparing our food. Hubby goes to counter to watch them prepare our food in effort to get them to stop visiting & pay attention to our order. They never acknowledge him and continue conversation with her. They set the completed sandwich on the counter that was within inches of her face as she is now chomping on a pickle they gave her. Hot sandwiches were barely warm as they took their time preparing them due to visiting with the girl. Hardly any meat on sandwiches. While manager is busy with customer on catering order, the cashier employee was secretly playing on cell phone - looked like texting trying to hide it from the manager.
