My wife & I dined at Fireside Grille & LOVED their pork chops. They have a choice of Broasted or Grilled Pork Chops. I ordered the Grilled which came with a baked potato, sauteed veggies & salad. My wife ordered the Broasted with sauteed veggies & mac & cheese (upcharge). Salads were great with either ranch or blue cheese along with the warm bread loaf. Pork chops were large, tender & juicy. We ended up taking home half our meal because it was too much to eat. Service was perfect from start to finish. We will be back! read more

I wish there were six stars on Yelp! We chose this place after visiting Sugar Grove for a day trip. Not knowing where to turn, we checked Yelp and lo and behold, there was a well reviewed restaurant nearby that looked family-friendly. Oh how I wish I lived closer! I wish I knew the name of our server, because she gave us some of the best service we've had in a while. The menu was outstanding, the atmosphere was welcoming, warm, and happy, and it was definitely kid-friendly. Then the food showed up! I had an amazing daily special, and it was some of the most amazing restaurant food I have had in a while. It was filet medallions (tournados?) that were served with a crab cake over them, drizzled with an amazing sauce. It's been a while since I've had steak this tender and good (and it was still tender the next day when I had my leftovers!). Oh how I wish we didn't live over an hour away! As we were walking away, I said to my husband that if they were closer to us, we'd be there every week. read more

The food is good and have no complaints about the preparation of our meals. The atmosphere is cool, being an old brick building with what appears to be kept original for the most part. I will say that the fish dishes were definitely on the small side but still held a pretty heavy price tag. You could find a better steak for the price in the Geneva area. read more

We have lived in Sugar Grove for almost a year and had never tried the Fireside Grille. What were we thinking! This place is fantastic. We have a wonderful place for dinner right in our backyard. We had the saganaki for an appetizer, it was wonderful. Dinner was Steak for the kids (they have an 8oz steak on the kids menu). They were so happy. That never happens! Wow! My husband had a burger and I had grouper. Both were fantastic. My husband actually says that the burger is one of the better burgers he's ever had. And to top it all off...the service was stellar! The young host asked us if we wanted a table, booth, or hitop in the bar. We said booth, please, so he put us in one of the two booths in the bar. If we'd wanted to sit in the bar we woulda asked for a hitop. After we asked for a booth in the actual restaurant and were seated we were waited on by a perfectly nice young lady who talked so fast we had to keep asking her to repeat. This is not a good start. I ordered the Buffalo chicken sandwich. The menu did not indicate that the chicken was covered in a brutally hot sauce nor that it was breaded but both of those things turned out to be true. And the French onion soup was pale and watery. And the cole slaw was served in a paper cup the size of a thimble. My wife's chicken sandwich was fine and the sweet potato fries were good. When we walked into the restaurant, none of the hostesses greeted us or asked anyone if they needed to be seated. Our waitress was unpleasant. She was rude, reached over us and bumped us a lot without apologizing or excusing herself while we were eating. We ordered 3 of the prime rib. One was really cold, the other two were completely raw on the inside and room temperature at best. We asked to get a new one and they brought back the same prime rib we sent back about 30 seconds later and it was a little warmer as was the plate (it had been microwaved). None of us ate our food. Very disappointing experience especially for how expensive it was. Won't be coming back here. read more

Love this restaurant! The food is always excellent! The bread is hot and soft and always fresh! I've never had anything that wasn't delicious. The portions are large. I often get the steak salad with blue cheese dressing. Plenty for a meal for two! I recently had the Mediterranean Chicken. It was so flavorful! Don't judge by the outside, head in and give it a try. I've been to the Fireside a few times as its close to WCC and it's one of the few restaurants in Sugar Grove. The service is usually adequate and timely... not bad, but not great. I'm a fan of the chicken sandwich and grilled pork chops. The chops are very flavorful and doesn't have a lot of fat on them. The crowd varies from older couples to a business clientele. It can get surprisingly loud which can make it hard to hear your tables conversation. Even when they're busy you're seated almost immediately and the food comes out quickly. I've never had a delay in getting my meal. read more

Not that impressive. Nicer steakhouse environment inside was pretty empty when we went. Maybe ten people total. Our waitress didn't mention specials and the way the menu read there wasn't prime rib that day (was special on wed maybe?). We ordered and another couple sat down by us and another waitress took care of them. They were read some awesome specials and they were able to order prime rib. Service was pretty slow and my steak was unevenly cooked and raw on a few sections. I suffered thru it and brought home the leftovers to finish cooking properly. Convenient because of location but a bit disappointing. Pricing was a bit high for non steak items too, avg price about 20 for entree even for chicken. read more

Not sure why people give this place 4-5 stars... the decor is the only thing that would provide a review like that from me. My immediate reaction when walking in the door is to the absolute awful stench of dirty dish rags. It's hard to have a pleasant meal when the smell lingering won't let you enjoy it. Food is nothing to brag about, I could honestly say eating at Texas Roadhouse is about the same. This place is packed with old folks who must be clueless as to what a great cuisine tastes like. My wife and I went here about a month ago on weds for prime rib. When the salads came out, I took about 3 bites and then noticed a rusty nail sitting in my salad. Thank God I didn't eat that or it would of been an emergency trip to the dentist. I right away asked for a manager (which you normally never see here as I think they hide in their office all day) and I got a half ass apology and he even stated he they had issues in the past from this company that supplied the lettuce. After eating here today, we will be hard pressed to return. I ordered a reuben sandwich, which had to be the worst one I have ever eaten. Meat was chewy and bland, also no Swiss cheese to be found anywhere. I ordered a Moscow Strawberry Lemonade, and the did not add the liquor. I also ordered onion rings and received fries. Best restaurant ever. I have been going here for years. I go specifically for the prime rib (served on wednesdays, Friday's, Saturday's, and Sunday's only)! So so so so delicious! Best prime rib around! If you're a baked french onion soup person- this is THE BEST! This place is pretty popular, but has tons of seating so if you have to wait to be seated you won't have to wait too long! The servers are all great and really know the menu! They have a ton of unique cocktails that are really tasty. If you like Moscow miles- they have ton of yummy flavors- watermelon is my favorite! They also have a party room that you can rent out for events at a really reasonable price. We had my sister's bridal shower and baby shower here. Great size, great food, best price! read more

What a gem! My companion had a tender rib eye steak, and I had a heaping roast beef and cheese, both delicious, artistically presented and generous portions. Started with some soft fresh baked bread and whipped butter. Mmm Friendly, quick service (although we were there at an off time). Exceptional! Service was outstanding, fast and knowledgeable. Portions were so generous we left with a big bag of leftovers. We started with a fresh, warm baguette and then I ordered Scottish Salmon and it was delicious, beautifully grilled and juicy with perfectly seasoned crisp veggies. This is one of our all-time favorite restaurants. We take out-of-town guests here al the time and they love it as well. The home-y environment is quaint and relaxing. My husband LOVES their prime rib. I usually try to get something different and everything has turned out quite well. I can't pick a favorite. The garden salad always seems fresh. The ranch dressing- the waitress told us that they make it fresh every day. By far, one of my favorite restaurants dressings (I crave it!). There is nothing wrong with the food there, it's completely adequate however I've never had a meal there that was worth mentioning to anyone. i work in Sugar Grove so I've eaten there no less than 30 times and I've sampled almost everything on the menu. The food is ok and the price is acceptable. The service can be very up-and-down. I suppose if you're Sugar Grove and you want someplace to eat that is more geared for business people (not fast-food or chinese) it's ok. Again, it's hard to find fault with the food I guess, it's just that this restaurant is nothing special in my opinion. I come here often, today was the worst experience. Connie was our server you can see from a person body language that they are not happy with there job.she was rude none caring and you had to ask for everything. My table got their food I was left setting and watching everyone else eat. She finally said after a ten minute wait that the kitc did not make my order. Finally after another ten minutes pass she brought half of my order and said at least you have something to eat until the rest is cooked what? I asked to speak to a manager he was a poor excuse normally the manager will ask to make things right by offering a dessert or some compensation.. He said he would bring my food out when it was ready. So sad,what has happen to customer service? This was Sunday March 10, around 1. This place food is usually good, but some waitresses or waiters can not handle large groups and give their other tables good service. I think I will give this place a pause for awhile.
