So I've been waiting for almost two weeks to find the right place for my 100th review. So here we go! My wife and I stopped in here for a good night out and something special. We ordered their fried Calamari for a way to begin our meal it definitely ranks in my top three all time for Calamari it was delicious. I then ordered the Prime Rib available only on Fri. Sat. And Sun nights with a baked potato and yummy French Onion Soup. It was cooked perfectly medium rare and melted in my mouth. My wife ordered a Jumbo butterflied Shrimp dish with potato soup and fries . The soup was Italian potato and I asked our server was there any way she could change it because the spices in the soup were too much for my wife. Our server said no problem and changed it out for a salad. Her shrimp were huge and I tried one so I can say delicious. The service here especially considering how busy they were was superb. We will definitely be back! The only downside of the entire evening would have to be the parking lot . It's very crowded and somtimes very hard to get in and out. read more

The most disgusting thing I ever saw in a restaurant. Waitress was literally filing her nails over the fruit they put in drinks with dust just flowing off and all over the fruit. Worse than that, a patron brought it to her attention and she continued, he told 2 bartenders who gave the patron crap bc he didn't have any fruit in his drink so "who cares" and then the owner overhears this and has no problem with it!! Ate at this restaurant this afternoon for a late lunch with three friends. I ordered blackened chicken pasta, that included sun dried tomatoes, asparagus and mushrooms. It had all of the ingredients that I love. It was very tasty but the chef should taste it, it was light on salt that would have helped a great deal. All in all, an enjoyable meal. After moving to Yorkville my fiance and I noticed that the parking lot at Fireside was always packed. We thought it had to be good. We decided to give it a try when we needed a night off from cooking and were NOT disappointed!!! We started with the saganoki and it was just as good as the other reviews mentioned! My fiances had a mojito and I had a specialty martini. Both were made very well and not light on the alcohol by any means. Coming from the city, the price for the drinks was very inexpensive as well. For dinner he had the dipped pork chops that came with broccoli and sweet potato as well as creamy potato soup. It was all excellent!!! The pork was flavorful tender and juicy. The bbq sauce was sweet and tangy. The soup was definitely homemade and perfect thickness and the sweet potato was soft and served with butter and brown sugar. I ordered a special which was arctic char on sauteed spinach with a lemon dill sauce. It also came with sweet potato and soup which I ordered the baked french onion. Fish was prepared perfectly, tender juicy and flavorful. The creamy sauce was excellent as well as the french onion soup. We both ordered dessert as well. I had the turtle pie. Cant go wrong with chocolate, ice cream, caramel and nuts in pie form! He ordered homemade apple cobbler or apple pie (I cant remember), but I do remember that it was excellent! Now let talk about portion sizes. I know we ordered ALOT of food because we wanted a good sample of the menu, but we both took home enough for another meal. The plates were filled. We were not disappointed by the portion sizes especially for the price. Our bill came and I was astounded that it was lower (by quite a bit) than what I expected. Good food, good service, good portions, good atmosphere, good prices. You cant beat that. Highly recommend giving this place a try! read more

We go to Fireside often, and have never left disappointed. Fireside offers a wide variety of menu items, and executes them all extremely well. They do good food well, and never try to overdo it or show off. Unlike some places that are always trying to "upscale" their dishes, Fireside stands firmly by the classics in every way. When you order a burger, you'll get a burger. Pure beef, done how you like, and topped with what you want. There'll be no fall grape schmear on a waffle crisp and bed of Bohemian kale. It'll come on a bun with lettuce if you want it. The saganaki makes for a wonderful appetizer, and the steak bite or cajun pasta will fill up even the hungriest appetites. It's priced moderately, and probably deserves a slightly higher billing. They can get busy, but call ahead seating is always a possibility. The staff is friendly and service is prompt. It's also right off of 88, so even a trip from the NW suburbs will get you there quickly. I highly recommend Fireside, and hope to remain a customer for years to come. read more

I don't understand the great reviews for this restaurant. We went here last night as I had been wanting to try this place for awhile. The food was just not good, which was disappointing because I really wanted to like it. We live in North Aurora and wanted to try something other than the Turf Room which is pretty proud of themselves. I ordered the "take two" special, which is 2 entrees and sides. I had the "broasted" pork chop and the BBQ ribs, which were both touted as being "outstanding" by our waiter. The chop seems deep fried instead of broasted, was dry and had no flavor. The ribs tasted like they were likely leftover from another night and were dry. My husband didn't even eat his meal, which was the steak bite appetizer, baked sweet potato and a salad. The best part of the dinner for both of us was the sweet potato and salad, which is sad. And to top it all off, the wine was horrible. This was the first time we've ever left a restaurant with wine still in the bottle. So $70.00 later, we will never be back. I wish someone would open a moderately priced restaurant in this area that has great food and wine. They'd make a fortune. read more

I've had mixed experiences here. The service is always rather good and the food comes out in a timely manner, but the quality of the food has gone both ways for me. I find that ordering popular/straightforward items such as a steak, lamb, or fish with two sides is the best way to go. Whenever I try to venture off and order something more unique to the restaurant, I am always disappointed. I would still recommend this place to people that I know, but suggest that they stick with the basic meat/potato/veggie route. read more

We came from Oswego and it was a short drive through the country. The interior is very nice and perfect for larger groups and celebrations. The food was absolutely delicious. We had the Thurs night special steak dinner and the jambalaya. Prepared perfectly. Portions were really generous so we had to take our chocolate cake to go. First time dining at the Fireside Grille, and was not disappointed. Not sure what to expect, as the building is a bit dated on the outside, however the décor was just fine on the inside. Music was playing in the background, at a good volume level - nice. Had the petit filet mignon, and it was prepared to order, and was very flavorful. The French onion soup and loaded potato were well prepared and flavorful as well. Although the restaurant was busy (and is large enough to seat a substantial number of patrons), the service was exceptional! We've eaten here many times. We once took a friend from out of town and he commented that if he lived closer, he'd eat here all the time. The food is good, we've never had bad service and you can get a nice entree or just a sandwich. Sugar Grove is lucky to have this place. read more

I was here for lunch on Saturday. We thought it would be expensive so we waited for a celebration outing, but their lunch menus are nearly half price, very reasonable. The interior was lovely, our server was attentive, and the food was delicious. I got Tilapia in a butter lemon sauce, and my boyfriend got a steak, we both enjoyed our dishes. I think Tilapia is pretty safe and hard to do wrong, so I'll add that I liked the option of a sweet potato in place of baked potato/mashed potatoes, and the house - made honey mustard dressing was REALLY good. Surprisingly, it was pretty empty, which meant it was nice and quiet and we got to sit by a window. I would highly recommend for a lunch treat, and plan to go back sooner than later. read more

Great restaurant! I have been here twice with my girlfriend I have had a great experience both times with the staff and food. I have had surf and turf here and it was done just right, with very large portions. The first time I went, my steak was a little bit redder than I had ordered, but I'll take steak as long as it's not rare. The cheese artichoke and calamari appetizers are delicious and large. My girlfriend and I both love the bread and butter that comes before the meal. She also loves their sangria. I had grown up near this building back when it was a smorgasbord and I hadn't heard much when it was converted to Fireside until my girlfriend told me about it, saying that it was now a really nice restaurant. I had my worries going there the first time, but as soon as I walked in and saw the great atmosphere, my worries were put to ease. The waitresses were helpful, friendly and did a good job. Worth it for the Mules alone. Fireside Grille has a huge menu with options for everyone. They also have different featured menu items every day of the week. But back to the Mules. They have an entire menu of Mule cocktails, for $9 each, and you get to take the copper mug home with you. They also boast an extensive selection of martinis and other specialty cocktails. The black and bleu steak bites are excellent, and if you're in the mood for some good old American comfort food, go with the French Onion meatloaf. I LOVE THIS PLACE! The food is terrific and the meals are huuuuge. Their draft beer list is also quite extensive and features many microbrews from the region. Of all the things I've had at fireside I like the Broasted Pork Chops and the dinner salads (Buffalo Chicken and Steak Salads especially). The side salad and veggie options are fresh and nicely prepared. The baked sweet potato is awesome. The waitstaff is always extremely courteous and friendly, the food is always served hot and timely, and the setting is very relaxing and comfortable. Their menu is very extensive and will certainly have something for everyone. Some of my favorites include the wings, calamari, burgers, porkchops, salads, and steaks. Ive always wanted to to get the ribs or the meatloaf, both of which are gigantic. And this isn't just a small town version of the cheesecake factory. I found this place on Yelp and based off of the previous reviews we decided to try the prime rib and the meatloaf. Both were excellent and great portions. Their drink specials throughout the week are a great deal. It's a cozy atmosphere with friendly servers. I finished with a chocolate cherry martini and it was the perfect dessert! Ribs were previously amazing and we were regulars. Maybe the recipe changed., or the cook, but definitely not what they once were. Food was a little better than average for this area. We were seated within just a few minutes which was nice. Food wasn't hot but lukewarm. Ribs changed... formerly my favorite. My husband forgot a brand new pair of designer sunglasses on the table and we realized very quickly. Called the hostess and asked if they found the glasses and they stated they did. We were back at the restaurant within 10 minutes and upon arrival they said someone must have stolen the glasses from the hostess desk. Just came back from an early Father's Day dinner at Fireside Grille. Why can't Fireside employ a cook that can properly grill a steak. I ordered a New York strip steak medium rare. It was overlooked.
