One thing that is consistent and reliable is the poor level of service you can expect when visiting this shop. The lack of care and attention, along with pure incompetence has shown through over and over again for me. I arrived at 7am when they opened hoping to get an oil change done. I requested an appointment the previous morning, but received no word on fulfillment of that request, another example of the lack of attention to details. After arriving and explaining my situation I was essentially turned away and told that they were "pretty booked for the day" whatever that means smh. I already expected slow and subpar service but this was a new one. I was baffled how I can be turned away before I even said what I wanted done. The lot was empty at the time mind you, and I stated that I was willing to drop the car off and wait pretty much all day until 5pm to pick up. Apparently they couldn't handle it, even though there were 10hours left in the work day. Just a prime example of the service you can expect when coming here. If you can go somewhere else, save the time and hassle and go somewhere else. I've regularly serviced 3 different vehicles here for the last few years and the service has only gotten worse and worse. Some of the staff members are simply not good with customer service or basic problem solving for that matter. If you are coming here, aside from some overall sketchiness regarding the quality of their employees, prepare to be underwhelmed by your overall experience. read more

I took my 2001 Lexus IS 300 in about 2 months ago. Did a full inspections. A couple of flaws that need to be fixed. I do have paper if anyone would like too see. My sway bar and links needed to be replaced. But it was safe enough to drive . My ball joints were good. So I asked her alright can we reschedule so I can have everything replaced. She said no we don't do that of a big job. Thinking to myself this is why I have a firestone card to cover for everything. But the point is. She said it was fine to drive my car. If you look at the pictures this happend right by my work in el Cerrito right by the freeway 1/6/2020. On east shore blvd. a lot of people would've got hurt. But luckily know one didn't. This is not the first time I had an issue with this location or firestone them selves. If anyone has the corporate number which probably won't help, please post. Safety first. After they couldn't locate my tires that I ordered from tirerack over a week and a half ago (tirerack had to call them) I got alot of wonderful attitude and lecture from firestone employee until i told them I'm taking my business else where and let me speak to the manager. At this point he wouldn't tell me who the manager was and he changed his tune but by then it was too late. After being jerked around by Wheel Works I was direct here by their corporate office. (Wheel Works & Firestone are affiliate) They made me an appt for within the hour at their new location. They gave me a discount and I received a car emergency kit, pack back packed with goodies and a sandwich from Subway. Short version: Staff in in this shop are either incompetent or dishonest. I'm not sure which. I brought my car in for a four wheel alignment. It only bothered me a little that they didn't start on it until well after my appointment time, and didn't finish until well after the latest time they had estimated. What really bothered me was this: They said the job was done, had me sign to acknowledge it, gave me my key and a copy of the paperwork, and moved on to the next customer. It wasn't until I was stepping away from the counter that I noticed this message subtly printed at the bottom of the alignment results page: "One or more values are not within specification. Tire wear, handling, and safety problems may result." Stopping in my tracks, I looked more carefully at the measurements taken before and after the service. It wasn't obvious at first glance because the readings were in black and gray, and the specification ranges were in very small print, but the wheels were not properly aligned. The right front wheel's camber was okay, but the left was just barely within spec, at its outermost limit, which was worse than it had been to begin with. Rear camber and toe were both way out of spec. None of the staff had called this to my attention. Instead of leaving, I asked the salesman/cashier why they hadn't aligned my wheels. He looked over the readings before responding, presumably because he hadn't bothered until then, and said it was probably because the rear wheels couldn't be adjusted. (This was not true.) When I asked why they couldn't adjust them, he called in the tech, who said the adjustments were fused. When I asked why they didn't un-fuse them, I was told it might require replacing several parts. This seemed far fetched, but I didn't want to argue about it. In summary, they attempted to send me out the door thinking they had aligned my wheels, when they had not. This was definitely misleading, and felt more than a little dishonest. They also had me sign an acknowledgment of the work that they had failed to perform, which seemed like fraud. I went to Mark Morris Tires in Oakland a couple days later. It took them about seven seconds to walk over to my car, look under it, and see that the rear alignment was indeed adjustable. They took my car without an appointment, at lunch time, despite having a full shop, aligned all my wheels perfectly, and had me back on the road in a couple of hours. They found no fused adjustments, and needed no additional parts. I have no way to know whether the El Cerrito Firestone staff were lying or merely incompetent, but either way, I suggest avoiding them. read more

They will always try to cheat on you and sell the tires by failing from any inspection. Don't go there. They are pretending as if they have cheap labour but they are cheating on you. Go somewhere else. I went there to get inspection for Lyft. First they didn't look my car because I went there at 5p.m. then I went there next they to get my inspection. They told me that I should get the inspection form to print out from anywhere because their system doesn't allow to print out. I waste my 25 minutes at get my print out from somewhere. When I get back they told me the inspection will take 45 minutes which is ridiculously funny because they didn't even keep my turn. I waste my time more than one hour. My experience with Firestone was good (considering my car was not so good). I took it in for new tires and an alignment (which is sorely needed). Turned out a wheel bearing was bad and the hub was messed up (well at least that is what I understand). So, there was a charge I was not expecting, but there was a problem that I didn't know about either. I did know that the car shook when it got to 65mph though (and higher) which I figured was an alignment problem. After picking up my car, I took it out on the freeway and up to 80mph (shhh) - no shaking at all. In fact it felt amazingly better both on the city streets and the freeway. Greg was very kind and compassionate and understanding and was able to get me approved for credit with 6 months deferred interest, plus there was a rebate offer and 5% off for applying for the credit. I'd go here again (and will for the next alignment as I got the lifetime of the car package). read more

This was a very negative experience, due to unacceptable customer service. Showed up for 4 o clock appointment. After dealing with constant eye rolling, I can tell they didn't want to do the alignment. (you know.. their job) Walks out to the car with me just to tell me that they don't have the schematics for a lowered car. I have a lifetime alignment with wheel works, and explained they've aligned it multiple times with no problems. He says, " uh, this specific store doesn't have the lowered schematics for this car." I could only laugh.. Seriously, the fuck is this guy talking about, you use the "schematics"for the model of the fucking car. Truth was.. they just put a white Hyundai on the rack, and they didn't honor my appointment. Two alignments at 4 might push them to six when they close. So, the dickhead up front made some shit up about lowered schematics. You just align according to the stock setup of the car. Lied to my face,horrible service, unacceptable. read more

Ron and his male staff were super nice and helpful, but unfortunately his female staff by the name of Amanda, not so much. There was awkward situation in the parking lot with my partner that I was unaware of. When I arrived the customers and her were looking at me menacingly. I proceeded to go in and got my car taken care of. While they were changing my tire she kept looking at me and would look away when I saw her watching. Later I found out she was talking about me with the customers from my partner. When I came back and requested to make a customer service complaint to one of the employees she rudely interjected and said, "he's gone!" And proceeded to act like she was doing her job. Her behaviors were extremely unprofessional and she lacks accountability. It was unfortunate to see, especially since she is the only woman and she hold herself at a higher standard. After reading previous reviews on yelp i am not surprised by her behaviors. I didn't speak with her directly, because I didn't trust her to handle herself appropriately around my daughter, plus I was extremely disappointed and disgusted, but she was standing right there when I was speaking to her coworker and said nothing except "he's gone!" Please do not go to this place. I went to do my car service at Honda dealer, I was told that my battery is bad . I was under warranty with firestone. I originally bought it from hilltop branch . But today was raining and one of the nice Guy in Honda place recommended for me to go to El Cerritos branch as it was closer. He called for me and asked me to go there and see Peter. I arrived and had all my document for my warranty . He and the reseption were keep looking at each other and he finally said I still have to pay $20 for Labore. I said okay . I could see the guy who opened my car and was doing the test . Then an Asian guy came which I think was the office manager and said here is the test and ur battery is fine . Do you still want us to change it?. He was very sarcastic showing Handa place was wrong. I trust my guys in Honda place and worked with them for 20 years. I said I have warranty so I rather change it. He said okay. I was watching my car for the whole time and I saw the service man cleaned my battery and did not replace it. After 15 minutes peter came and said we r done. I said I did not see u put it new battery and he insisted he did. I said changing battery at hilltop took 1 hour. I then went to my car and turned on my car. As you know if you change ur battery. All your radio stations r gone and u need to rese them. . U also have to enter a code for ur radio to be functional. My radio stations were all there and functional. Because some one from Honda sent me there, I did not argue more. I strait went to Honda and they said you still have ur old battery but since they are not another Honda shop we canot do anything. I then drove my car to hilltop branch. A very nice guy name Jim checked my battery and he confirmed that my battery is not new and added that they gave u the test in the wrong range. Both Honda place and firesstone at El Cerritos but Honda is right that ur battery needs to be replaced. Jim's battery test confirmed that I need a new battery. He is going to change it for me tomorrow. I went to Honda and told them. They spoke to their technician and gave me store credit. I went to firestone in El Cerritos and ask for peter . Waited for 10 minutes and he did not show up. I did not want to waste my time. I said it to the reception Face " u cheat on me. The reception name is Melody full of attitude. I had to come here to get a vehicle inspection for Uber. They were available within a short time frame. The first time was with a new car with only a few thousand miles on it and new tires. They decided I needed two new tires or they wouldn't pass the inspection. In frustration and considerable skepticism I gave in and bought their tires. The second time I had to come in for an inspection six days after having my regular mechanic tell me my brakes still had 25% wear left on them. Firestone insisted i could not pass the inspection with out a new set of brake pads. After waiting for hours for them to finish, I went home and got ready for work. When I left for work and stepped on the brakes there was an ominous sound. I drove back to Firstone to ask them what the sound was. They test drove the car and pulled long faces and said the rotors hadn't been surfaced correctly. They would have to be replaced, they could not do it then but could in the morning. Just leave the car they said, OH, you live too far away, well they wouldn't pay for a rental car. I would have to come back. As a result i lost a nights income due to their incompetence. My wife came to this location based on my previous experience with battery replacement and check up. She came in for oil change, battery replacement and check up. I give it two stars because I've always had good experiences with Willian whenever I come in. She was told she needed to replace her tires, which she knew she had to do from a previous service from a different shop. My wife agreed to replace all her tires but she was told that the alignment would be included as part of the tire replacement. To our surprise, we later got a call saying that alignment of the new tires would be $100 extra even though she was told alignment was part of the deal of buying all 4 new tires. We agreed to it considering that an alignment would be beneficial to the new tires, but we felt that it shouldn't have been an extra charge since she was told previously that it was included with the purchase of 4 new tires from the very beginning. I've worked retail for large chain companies before and I know that if something is said erroneously by an associate, it is usually honored by the company so we feel that whr should not have been charged for the alignment when it was stated to her by one of the associates that it was included with the tire replacement. We got 4 brand new Firestone tires. Also, my wife complains of rudeness with the staff in their demeanor towards women based on her own experience and witnessing the way the staff dealt with another woman who was at the ship at the same time. She says that the representative was very rude over the phone but he was nice when I came in with her to pick up her car. It would be nice for the corporate office to look into the store customer service culture and also to make sure they are more honest about what they offer to the customer. I like Firestone because I've never had any issues whenever I bring my car to any of their locations but I will start looking for a local shop to bring my car for service based on my wife's experience. I have had a bad experience with Firestone (on University) so when this new one opened up in El Cerrito I thought I would give them a try. I normally use Tire Rack and have Griffin put the tires on. I called and ordered 4 tires and made an appointment for first thing in the morning. I was late so I had to wait and I don't mind waiting. The car was on the rack by 8:30 am. First red flag as I watch the technician struggle with getting the first tire off; takes him nearly 30 min. The manager said they had an issue getting the sensor off? Ok.... next tire has 3 guys standing over it trying to figure something out, at this point I'm thinking here we go again. I have 17 in rims with low profile tires and Griffin has never had a problem. Long story short they nicked up my rims just like the other shop on University. I asked the tech "what was so hard about getting the tires off?" He said "the low profile tires are harder to get off" ??? You should know how to do this without damaging my wheels! I will not be back, 2nd strike will not go for a third. read more

I was pretty excited when this location opened but have am pretty disappointed with the service. Clean facility but I have had a few bad experiences there and don't think I will be going back. Wait times are much longer than they tell you and they don't communicate or listen very well. The last time I went in there, I was very specific about what I wanted fixed and they forgot 2 out of 3 of the items I needed fixed! I even drove the employee around the block so he can hear the noises I was experiencing but when I went to pick it up, they never ever looked at them. Plus, I told him that I had brand new valve stem caps, showed them to him and asked him to make sure the mechanic wouldn't lose them and put them back on. Sure enough, they lost 2 of my caps. Then the manager blames his employee for all the issues and took no responsibility for any of the oversights and errors they made. Both visits have been pretty unpleasant and I will not be going back until their reviews get much better. Go elsewhere! read more

This took place Nov 14 Tuesday on the phone. I Needed 4 tires for my Van. I bought tires from Firestone in the past spent $1000's over the past decades in service and tires so I'm a long time customer. I researched tires online and they had at least 5 different tires models to choose from along with 2 coupons to use. I called Firestone El Cerrito and talked with a sales rep and I think his name is Marcus. I gave him my tire size along with my Van make and model. He tried to research but his computer got hung up during his query. But then he says he has only one tire in his shop for that tire size. Then he tells me that my vehicle has the wrong tire size, then he says he can't find my tire size to order them or get more. The price range online for the tires are under $120.00 he tries to sell me tires in my size in a $190.00 price range. Meanwhile while he's talking about his hung computer and not listening to me. What I really wanted to do is, I wanted to take advantage of the coupons and if he can find tires to reflect the discount and to order them and install later this weekend? I tried to convey to him I was not in a hurry and can come in this Saturday for installation, and I can come in early in the week to pay in advance and use the Firestone Credit card which is why I'm a usual customer. I know he was not listening to me, He kept going around in circles about the computer, also stating that HE DOESN'T KNOW ABOUT ANY COUPONS, and to bring them in to show him, (maybe he thinks I'm a fraud or something?) why would I even come in if he can't find my tires? But then again he was able to determine other inquiries through another computer with no useful data and the other was hung up doing a Query research? I offered to email the coupon and link to the Firestone website where I got my data, prices, and availability to show him what I see here but he said no I have to come in and show him. Maybe he thinks the Firestone Website is misleading or false advertising or maybe not updated correctly with bad data? Are the price quotes and coupons bogus? Why aren't Firestone representative aware of their products that they post on their Websites? That's what I'm believing for myself talking with this character. During this stupid conversation I told him that I'm a usual customer that frequents this store and bought many sets of tires from Firestone over the decades (I'm in my 50's) and I don't want to go to Costco, Goodyear, or Big-O tires. This guy Marcus basically said "oh well I can't help you, GO to Costco, Goodyear and Big-O". I did call the main office to voice my dis-satisfaction, I'm still pissed which is why I'm writing here. I had a appointment at 11:00. I had my 4 tires replaced and a re ailment. I was out by 1:30. That may seem to be a long wait time but that was not very long at all for what was done. they kept me informed. I will go back. They did not try and sell me anything I did not need. ( some woman, you know what I mean.) My van handles so much better. The only thing i can think to complain about would be that after my van was done, then they told me I need my break fluid changed. If they had told me that when they had my van in the air I would have had that done also. My only complaint about my visit. And it is really not a complaint. Absolutely awful. Brought my car in today for an oil change, inspection, and tire alignment. They told me it would take two hours. After four hours, they finally told me the oil change and inspection were done. I asked about the alignment, and they said "oh doesn't look like he did that, we'll do that right now, it should only take 20 minutes". I can see the car from the waiting room, and nobody touched it for another hour. After six hours total, I finally got my car back, but it still pulls to the right. The manager gave me $75 off the service, but that doesn't make up for all of the time I wasted or being late to my next appointment. If they just told me at the beginning that it would take 6 hours, or that they were backed up and they couldn't guarantee anything, I would have left the car overnight. But because they kept lying to me with "just 20 minutes more" I wasted hours in their waiting room. read more

I went here in the summer to get an oil change for my Ford Escape. After I left the mechanic/salesman called me and said my brakes really needed to be replaced. I asked the price and he gave me a reasonable quote so I told him to go ahead and do the job. Not long after he called again and said the rotors needed to be replaced as well. That they were the car's original brakes and the job would be over $900! I said I didn't have the money and not to do it after all- called my cousin's husband who works in cars and he told me that was an insane quote and to go elsewhere. I hadn't even noticed any symptoms of issues with brakes to begin with. Fast forward 8 months I never got them fixed, had an issue with my battery and went to a garage in Vallejo to get battery replaced. They stated Only rear brakes and rotors needed replacement. That along with the cost of replacing two light bulbs and a battery it came to $613 for all the jobs combined. Needless to say I won't return to Firestone. They marked up the price more than 40%- and that's being generous considering the other jobs I had done as well at the lower price. read more

Terrible service. My mom and I took her Toyota Corolla in there for a break problem. They told us the car needed new brake pads, rotors, and a master cylinder. The manager tried to charge me $250 just for the labor to replace the master cylinder. I told him it was ridiculous and that it shouldn't take more than 2 hours to replace. He said he'd match any local quote and immediately dropped his price over the phone. Long story short, we showed up the next day after they called to say the car was ready. We wanted to test the brakes before paying for the job, but the employee at the front refused, saying we could not take the car off the lot without paying first, but we could bring it back. My mom tested the car anyway with a spare key she had and realized the brake pedal wasn't engaging the brakes until it was pushed all the way near the floor. We had to leave the car another day. I asked the cashier if they used a new or remanufactured master cylinder. He assured me it was new. When we returned the manager told us it was remanufactured. He said that they had forgotten to bleed the brakes again. Won't be coming back here. read more

These guys were great! I called them in route, close to closing time and they waited for me to get there...I was able to order the tire that I needed. I received a call the next morning and had the tire installed that afternoon. I waited less than half an hour and was on my way. All because the manager, who answered the phone, knew that I was on my way and waited for me to get there the day before. There is a problem here. My partner has been making Firestone her *only* car service business since she purchased her honda civic in 2004. Peter at Firestone Richmond Hilltop admitted they messed-up on her gas valve repair twice but would not reveal his last name. They will not evaluate the previous service they provided on her car following a Honda recall and I am remiss to mention that there appears to be a gender-based service variance at this Richmond Hilltop location. We just canceled our weekend plans in order to research what we actually need to do to make our vehicle roadworthy. There were a couple of options for what could be going on with a minor fuel injection issue and Peter went to an immediate spark plug guess diagnosis. We are car savvy and have car mechanic friends. The dick on the phone said there was no wait and to come by. Needless to say, it took over 3 hours. Are you fucking kidding me. Not only that but they refuse to do synthetic blends and forced me to drop 60 bucks on a full synthetic change. Not only that but that douche had the balls to lie to my face and tell me I had a nail in EVERY tire. Those dicks tried selling me tires after I waited 3 fucking hours. I called him on his bullshit and told them to patch my tires. The mechanic lied to my face and said he couldn't because I had 3 nails in one tire. Funny because that crooked POS in the front told me differently. I looked at him like the lying piece of shit they are and told him to just inflate them. Hmmm that's fucking interesting because it's been over a month and my tires are holding tire pressure just fine. DO NOT COME HERE AT ALL COSTS. There is a nice repair and body shop off 23rd Street next to O'Reilly auto parts store. The owner is really nice and they do quality honest work for a reasonable price. read more
