I brought my 2011 Chevrolet Malibu to Firestone in early October of this year, and I explained to them that my car was currently a FAIL in terms of passing the CT DMV emissions test. I explained that although the vehicle was already 13 years old, I would like to try to get that fixed, as the car was otherwise in pretty good shape. They told me that it would cost almost $900 to fix the problem, and, considering that this 13 year old car had a "blue book" resale value of just around $3000, I really wasn't sure that that would be a good decision on my part to go ahead with that. So I asked the manager there -- or at least I thought he was the manager -- if he could guarantee that these costly repairs would lead to the car passing the emissions test, and he said Yes, he guaranteed it. Well, once he gave me that guarantee, I decided to go ahead with it. Unfortunately, however, after paying a total of $879 in "repairs" to Firestone, it turns out that my car still couldn't pass the CT emissions test! Are you kidding me?! And then I took another emissions test fairly soon after that just to double-check, but once again the car FAILED the test. I was pretty upset, considering that whatever work Firestone had done on my car was totally useless and worthless. Not so surprisingly, I asked for a full refund of the $879 that I had paid them for these useless repairs, but they just laughed in my face at my request. They looked at me like I must be some kind of nutjob. Firestone Kings Highway worked on my wife's car for a fuel line issue. They had our car for 12 days. They installed the wrong parts, at least twice, by their own account. They would not release the vehicle to me before service was completed, when in frustration, I said I would just take it to an actual Mazda dealership. Why? Because, they said it might catch fire. When they finally did release it to me, it did exactly what they predicted. Within 24 hours and less than 45 miles later, my wife's car was engulfed in flames, 15 seconds after we luckily were able to flee from it. I can still feel the flames on my ankles. We almost died! This Firestone center still had the audacity to bill us for the work done, even after they knew that our car had caught on fire the day prior. That is bad business. I expect that money to be refunded. It was their inept service and subsequent negligence, that created this issue. Whoever oversees or signs off on such work, is also at fault. I hope the mechanic was at least retrained, if not fired. Not only have the not refunded the money, they haven't compensated us for our losses due to their negligence. We now have to take the time & expense to get a lawyer to try and retrieve some compensation. If you have fuel line issue, don't bring it here. read more

However this location I felt the sales folks were pretty straight forward, they shared additional services but were not pushy and performed the job as described. I was visiting this place to get my own tires that I had bought elsewhere to be installed. I had called around and I felt their prices were extremely fair and they seemed the most welcoming too. The place itself is extremely clean and spacious. It seemed extremely busy too which was a good sign and while waiting outside I had a nice conversation with the technician working on my car and he came across honest, knew what he was talking about and shared his impression about the tires I was getting installed. The wait turned out to be longer than shared, but it was a gorgeous day in winter so I did not mind waiting outside and conversing with the technician, who this review is mainly for. read more

No Parking go to other lot. 1 space in other lot. The place felt bad from start. I Checked in to confirm. Went to waiting area and saw 7-9 people waiting, staring at cell phones and basicly looking like they were in a hospital waiting room. After about an hour I struck up a conversation with 2 people from Mass waiting for a tire change. They ended up being there for 3 hours. I was there for 2 1/2 before they moved my car at 3:30. At that point they could not find my tires. Then they told me the paperwork was wrong and could not do the work. I found the tires myself talked to Car Advise and found out they never booked the work. I grabbed my tires and left. This was at 4pm. They said if you figure it out come back. I found the place Disorganized, understaffed and trying to do too much at once. Would I want them to even mount 2 tires ? No. They need better management, someone up front that can handle the people and to put the Emissions bay on the far end of the building. I booked an electrical repair through car advise. Requested a headlight and brake light to be changed upon price finalization, as Firestone's pricing was incorrect in the Car Advise app, was quoted a whopping $150 for it. No thank you. Called the shop back to let them know it was too expensive. I left my car there at 9am for my booked appointment, and was told they'd be too busy to work on it during my scheduled appointment. I said okay fine, you've got the day. I didn't hear back about the price until 2pm. Ridiculous. Here's the kicker - after I told the woman on the phone at Firestone that the price was too expensive, and I would not be paying $150 for two lightbulbs to be replaced, she said sure I'll cancel the appointment for you, and I'll make sure I tell the guys not to work on it. Great, thank you, I'll be at the shop in a half an hour to pick it up. When I arrived, my car was in the bay with the hood open and front light bracket popped out. I walked inside and told them to stop working on it, that it wasn't authorized. The guys looked at me like I had three heads and I was ignored. Not a word did they respond. So, I went into the waiting area and spoke with the woman at the front desk. I said "Excuse me, we just had a phone conversation during which you told me no work would be done on my car. That you would inform your mechanics not to work on my car. Why is my car in the bay with a light popped out???" Of course she apologized profusely and took full blame for not communicating properly. Great, apology is warranted, but no part of this interaction has been professional. How can you promise a customer that nobody will touch their car, promise you'll tell the mechanics not to work on a car, and then have my car in the bay a HALF AN HOUR later? The lack of communication and horrible timeliness of this whole interaction... I will never take my car back to any Firestone. read more

Ok, pay attention to this review, because it has way more with the way company operates than the people in Fairfield. I would like to say that the SA I worked with, Julio, was excellent. Very polite, helpful, friendly - everything you'd want in a person doing that job and it's unfortunate that I need to write a negative review despite having a good experience with him. My primary issue is with the technical team. I have a Gen III Prius that has been experiencing significant rhythmic driving noise (like a helicopter). It didn't seem engine-related and I walked in suspecting the tires and poor alignment or the wheel bearings (WBs) are going (150k on the original set!) I bring it in and the guys fit me in. I'm a teacher, so I just sat in the waiting area and did some grading for the three hours it took to review the car. The SA knew that it could be either a tire problem or a WB issue - the technicians would confirm the cause during their inspection process (part of each visit). While my tires aren't brand new - they weren't bad either. It would make sense to examine the WBs first as you'd have to remove the wheel to change the tires and it could easily be checked simply by rocking it back and forth once lifted to check for play. That did not happen They installed the tires and once the work is done and can't be reverted, they hand me a recommendation to replace the front WBs -- for $900. The cost for the new set of tires, alignment, oil change and wiper replacement I had done was $750. Personally, I feel like the technicians should have been able to assess the cause of the noise before indicating it was the tires. The way this plays is that it feels like they sold me tires first, knowing that I couldn't undo it and then hit me with this to push my bill further. I declined to book an appointment for the WBs as I wanted to do more research. I did and came across another huge problem: the Duralast hubs that they quoted at $199 EACH retail locally for LESS THAN $90. What's worse is that they have terrible reviews referencing lots of failures, low quality, etc. $100+ markup on each plus an absolutely absurd amount of labor (double what would be required, according to another mechanic I consulted) is insulting to my intelligence as a consumer. I called another Firestone to inquire about the markup and they were seemingly caught off guard by my question but offered to upgrade me to a better brand (Moog) for the same pricing. Reasonable, but this doesn't address the underlying issue. Here's my problem, simplified: 1. I came in with a problem, either tires or bearings. 2. While they were checking my car, they neglected to identify the WB issue or knew about it and sold me tires anyway knowing that bearings are a must-do. 3. If I were notified about the WBs, I could have made a better decision and greenlit that repair first (for a similar cost) since my tires while worn, were nowhere near at-risk for failure. In that way, I'm feeling extorted. My issue was manipulated, I was sold something I didn't immediately need and then was quoted an inflated job, using sub-quality parts at an extreme markup on parts and labor. The technician was polite, the SA was awesome - but something isn't right in terms of how Firestone structures repairs so that they are more extensive -- and expensive. ***AND*** The final insult was that when I went to an independent mechanic to have the fronts changed out - they tell me the back ones needed replacing too as just changing the fronts won't solve the interior noise issue. They could not figure out how Firestone missed that additional repair since they had all the wheels off - and supposedly performed an inspection. What I hope somebody does when they read this, is reach out to me directly. I'll also be sending a copy to the social media team for the company. I think it's unconscionable to take advantage of somebody's lack of knowledge like this - it definitely makes me rethink Firestone and the card I have with them going forward. I have more work to do (rear bearings) I have credit with them I could use but not if it's just going to be another inflated experience. read more

My car broke down on 95 on a Sunday and I was towed to this shop since they were the only shop open. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The manager was beyond understanding and even though the car arrived at about 3 pm he told me they would try to look at it first thing in the morning.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]By 9;30 am he called to let me know the issue was complex and in order to have the work done there he would have to replace the alternator but he did NOT recommend it since he felt there was a good chance that was not the issue.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] He thought we had a communications issue with the software and recommended we tow it to the Cadillac shop a couple of towns away. [[HIGHLIGHT]]He was honest, quick and able to explain the issue to a "non-car" person![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] In a situation where he could easily have taken advantage of me, he looked at the car for over 2 hours and didn't even charge us a penny since the car had to be towed again. The inexperienced team at the Fairfield CT Firestone is costing me dearly. I visited this Firestone with a broken exhaust system on my 2010 Honda CRV that was loud. Soon they suggested that I have to replace 3 components in my exhaust system as it's old and they are unable to reuse. Went home with a 2.6 k bill and soon the engine light came on. I brought it back to the Firestone the next day. All they did was reset the engine light telling me that this happens all the time and sometime problems resolve themselves. Wish I had known at that time how clueless they are. Soon again engine light comes on and I am back at the Firestone. Now they tell me that the new catalytic converter they installed might be faulty and they have to get in touch with manufacturers with warranty. They claim to have replaced the catalytic converter. I go home and the engine light comes on Another visit and now they tell me that my oxygen sensors are bad and suggest replacing. They were not bad when I came with exhaust issue initially. I see no other option and get it replaced to fix the problem. Now a day later the light comes on again. This is getting tiring and costs me Uber trip every time I have to drop off and pickup. Meanwhile the Firestone team is unsure what's going on and keep suggesting more replacements. I don't know if they are installing faulty components or if they are damaging my good components. For instance, they recommended expensive differential fluid service, at one point and then, during my next visit, recommended that I change my spark plugs. Go to Meineke in Fairfield FIRST! Without even lifting the car up, the guy said hr hoped my calipers didn't need replacement. I told him that I was no spring chicken and that I had never had to replace calipers at 100K miles. Fast forward a few hours and he said 3 of the 4 calipers needed replacement and when told not to replace them, he said that due to liability, he wouldn't release the car unless it was in a tow truck. The bottom line is that my calipers weren't bad. Their staff neglected to open the bleed screws when compressing the piston, hence the leak. Brought my car in for an alignment, they called and said a bolt was missing on the control arm, and quoted me $765 for a new control arm. I took the car home to inspect it and I discovered a bolt was sheared off of the control arm. I did some more inspecting and it appears this just happened. The sheared off bolt was "clean" looking and there was penetrating oil around the missing bolt. I took the car back to them and they said the bolt must have fallen off. I then took my car to a (multiple)reputable local mechanics and they stated the bolt was recently sheared off when they were trying to loosen it and that there was no way the bolt could have fallen off. The mechanic I went to also stated nothing was wrong with my control arm. Please do not go to this place or any other Firestone's. They are a scam! DO NOT USE THEIR SERVICE!!! I recently brought in my vehicle for a tire rotation & tire alignment. The technician DAVID stripped my wheel lock whereas the key was no longer able to take off any other locks. David & Brian advised me to go to the dealership to get the stripped lock removed. Firestone claimed it was overly tightened which was complete BS. They were able to remove 3 out of 4 locks and somehow inadvertently stripped the 4th by using a power socket drill, when he should of manually used a socket wrench to unbolt it off. Firestone is quick to blame customer's for their actions which is completely unacceptable. I shouldn't have to pay for their screw up when my vehicle was fine coming into the shop initially. Now this is a time I listened to my parents and am glad I did! They've always had great luck with this Firestone and when we had the need for some new tires and more work we headed over after being burnt by other places in the area... Brought in two cars to Firestone before we moved last month and were so pleased with our service I wish they were the staff running the one here. They were able to diagnose one of our car's issues when no one else could, and gave us a very fair estimate - never pushing us to do anything. Juan helped us out and was always friendly when we came in with questions, to drop something off, to pick something up, etc. No matter how busy they were whenever he was on he would take time to greet each person and spend just enough time with each to make sure they were 100% attended without the expense of the other customers' time. There was one employee there that did not handle a flux of customers as well as Juan did and was very short/rushed with us as with others but we cannot recall his name. We do cut him slack because he was alone at the desk, but an earlier service with Juan proved that could be done. Though we all have our off days, and it was all worked out (my fiance even went back inside to double check that the manager didn't think we left angry as he had only walked into the conversation at an awkward moment and assumed it was worse than it was). The tires they put on our van are still working great, and they did not press us to do any of the other repair work they gave us estimates on but said weren't due quite yet. As mentioned, they were also able to identify one of the issues we had with our other car that other places weren't able to and our only wish with that was that we had them check the whole thing out then and there instead of the one little problem we asked them about. Thank you so much to Juan and to the service manager (I believe that was his title! I can't remember his name which I feel bad about because he was great, attentive and seemed like he would be a great boss as well). I actually created a Yelp account so that I could leave this shop a review. I had my ancient VW towed here after it started blowing smoke out of the vents on 95, and they had it up on the lift within five minutes of my arrival. Despite a failed component they were able to patch my car together to allow me to drive all the way to Philly. They very helpfully provided an estimate of how much it would cost to definitively fix the component, but saved me a shockingly expensive and time consuming repair with a perfect fast fix. I was amazed by how knowledgeable and patient they were. 95 degrees on Labor Day, and the only open shop within ten miles did a terrific job sorting out my car.
