Made an appointment for what I thought was 8am today (6/23/18) for my A/C not cooling. I personally checked under the hood and i couldn't hear the compressor turn on so I came in, and turns out appointment wasn't until 9. Okay no worries. I mis heard the appointment time. But they let me know that the AC Technician doesn't come in until 9:30.... I'm okay. Well I also have to do a state safety. He'll probably knock that out ASAP. I come back from breakfast at 10:18 am and my vehicle has not moved.. what the heck. My appointment was at 9. Okay no worries. I'll wait. At 10:58 my car is moved and they begin working on it. At 12:40pm I finally get an update and I'm told I have to replace my compressor and was estimated at $1600. Woah!!! I call another place to get a quote for a replacement and that technician wants to see the vehicle. When I take it in he says that there is no Freon and he adds it in and my AC cools perfectly again. He also adds a dye to check if the compressor has a crack because that's what firestone told me was wrong. No crack but a small leak somewhere. And he said to go back once it stops cooling again and he would fix it for free. He also didn't charge me for taking a look at my vehicle. I call firestone in Kailua, upset to let them know that I did not need a new compressor, just some Freon and the gentleman stated "that's how we fix things, we replace the whole thing" um what?! You told me the compressor had a CRACK and that it was NO good. So I paid thought $50 for a mis diagnoses. I'm UPSET! Never again. read more

Horrible customer service; they scammed me into upgrading to the "lifetime balance and rotation warranty" and when I got them done, they reminded me to get new tires in the next 6 months. Then I just called to get new tires and they said the "lifetime" warranty is only good until you change your tires. Are you freaking kidding me?!!!! SCAMMERS! read more

I went with my husband today (Sunday) to fix a nail on my car's tire - a super easy job for a "tire shop". The person on duty was super rude, not only ZERO customer service, he said I could leave my car the whole day, but he couldn't guarantee they would have time to work on my car. Then, I asked: "when is your next available appointment?" He replies: "Not until three more days". Anyway, it's sad to see that some places totally don't understand the "ALOHA" spirit. I got a bid to fix my A/C for what Firestone said would be a minimum of $1200 (my car's worth about 5K). FS said I needed a new compressor etc. I took it to A-1Auto A/C in Kalihi and thank God I did. All it needed was new gaskets in the A/C line. $190. I am a Kailua local and I've spent 1,000s at firestone...I'll never set foot in there again. read more

I'm surprised by the number of not so hot reviews, I have taken my truck here quite a few times just for a basic oil change and they always do a great job, they finish on time, and they are friendly. I also haven't been able to find a place that does a full synthetic oil change at a better price then they do. When it comes to oil changes at least, I would absolutely recommend! read more

i also had suspicions about this location. i wen t in there just to get some tires which was fine. long wait but no biggie, they were busy so i understood. while doing my tire change they offer a free car inspection to which i said no problem. at the end of the tire change, the mechanic came out to review the inspection. he said overall the car looks mechanically fine except 2 items. one was a low crank voltage on my battery and the other was low brake pressure and possible leak. prior to this inspection there were no problems with my truck. 2 DAYS LATER my battery dies - only 2.5 years old. a week later my brakes fail and now there is a serious grinding noise form my front brakes... for some reason when my battery just died i was like wow what a coincidence. after my brakes failed my suspicions seemed validated. these guys are doing something fishy and dangerous to keep business coming back. never going back there again. after reading other similar posts on yelp i decide to post as well. read more

I appreciated you taking my car so quickly when my tire needed to be repaired. It was not repairable so I needed two new tires. You only had one, but did offer to have one delivered "in about 2 hours." I appreciated this and asked that you call me when it arrives and I would be right back to have the second new tire installed. Several times I was told you would call me. 26 hours later there was STILL no call. I called to find out the tire was there waiting. Interesting. Why no call??? On top of that you can't get it installed for two days. Not especially good customer service. Disappointing. read more

I have always had honest work done here to a different vehicle but when I brought in my new truck for a tire change they must have felt they could pull me around. I dropped my car off at noon and hey told me it would take me a few hours. Next thing I know I'm chasing them down at 5 pm when they are about to close asking them when my car will be done. At that time they have just begun to work on my car. The person at the front desk has terrible costumer service on the phone and can't communicate to people. I would advise going somewhere else. I noticed this had poor reviews so I thought I would mention my experience. Had a flat tire, took it in on a Sunday afternoon and after being checked out I was shown the nail in the tire as well as some threading coming out of my tire. I agreed to purchase a new tire, the tire was put on within 2 hours, and I was out. The service was fast, it wasn't overpriced, and they got me in on a dime. No BS review of my experience today with Firestone today. Had an issue with my brakes, took my truck in dropped it off and waited to hear from them. Speaking with them on the phone and in person was easy and prefessonal. Three hours later they called and let me know my brakes were fine and no need to do anything just yet. they showed me the measurements and explained in detailed what the issue was.; gave me the option to have it fixed even though it wasn't needed. Had one tire patched and one tire replaced here. Nice and friendly staff. The hours this place is open are excellent.

My wife took her car in for safety inspection and the airbag light was illuminated. My wife had it fixed by them and the light was extinguished. There were a few other issues and we waited to long and required a re inspection. She went to a different store and they discovered that the air bag was still not fixed the light had merely been disabled. This is extremely dangerous as my pregnant wife was driving around without a working airbag. If we hadn't gone to a different auto shop we would have never known of this problem. read more

Each time I have had to get a tire at Firestone has been because of an emergency and Firestone has been the only company in Kailua that has the tire size (even though this has been on three different cars). Last week someone sliced our tire and so we had to replace it. They were able to get me in the same morning. A couple of days later I noticed one of the hub caps was missing. I called them and they said to come back. They looked for it and couldn't find it but they said that since we came in with the hub cap to buy a new set (they weren't factory originals) and they would reimburse us. Amazingly they did that day! I was all ready to fight but they did the right thing. I have another car that needs alignment and I am going back to Firestone Kailua for sure. read more

I am so thankful for the amazing service Firestone just gave me. I went in for a wheel alignment because my car had been pulling. It took about two hours, which is what he estimated it would take, and at the end they told me my tires were the problem not the alignment. They slightly fixed the alignment and adjusted the steer head, but didn't really do much because I have to just replace the front two tires. Because the alignment wasn't really off, THEY DIDN'T CHARGE ME ANYTHING! I'm a broke college student so that was such a huge relief. THANK YOU FIRESTONE! read more

Bought a used SUV, which needed new tires and a tune up. (Check light on) No problem getting an appointment. I told them that I needed 4 new tires and it was on sale. I also asked to check out the brakes, rotors, and overall suspension and engine check. They found a leak in the valve gasket and the serpentine belt was cracked. So I agreed to have them do the work, after they gave me the estimation. It was over my budget, but knew it was very important to do. They also gave me an estimate on the suspension work that needs to be done. So, overall, Friendly staff, received phone calls through out the day to get approval for work that needed to be done and the work that could be done next time. Explanation of the bill and estimation. They listed a broken sensor from their employee that was replaced with an original Ford part. I definitely would give them my business. read more

After reading some of the past reviews, I can't believe that we are talking about the same facility. If there were any past issues, they have all been resolved. I have taken my vehicle in several times and always had fantastic service and fair pricing. Most recently, I was quoted labor for a replacement bulb that was apparently far lower than it should have been (I googled the procedure and found out that it was a huge ordeal and required removal of the front bumper to get to the casing to change a $4 bulb). Yet, despite the extra labor, they still honored the original quote, changed the bulb, and kept me apprised of the progress. In doing so they, yet again, have proven to be honest brokers and will always have my loyalty. read more

As a retired 47 year Master Automotive Technician and previous shop owner on the mainland, Im pretty picky on where I take my vehicles. I have ASE certifications as a Master Technician, ASE L1 Advanced Diagnostics, and ASE Service Advisor. I also have my California state smog license. So far, Ive been pretty happy here, even though I still do much of the work on my vehicles myself. Ive heard it all and know when the wool is being pull over my face, hasnt happened here. I appreciate the honesty I get when Im here. I enjoy talking to Orrin when I come in. Nice, friendly guy, listens and keeps the appointments I make on time. On one occasion, my step daughters Odyssey had a failed crank position sensor which I replaced, but by my experience, I knew it still required a reprogramming of the computer to start. I had it towed there, they were unable to do the required reprogramming, recommended a TSB I was already aware of, but didnt charge me for their time. Thats honesty, which is exactly how I ran my shop! Honda Windward reprogrammed it and all was fine. Unless something changes in the future, I will definitely keep returning! read more

Firestone Kailua is to be avoided! They told me I needed a complete brake job, and misdiagnosed an electrical problem I had. Their quote was $1800, and we were shocked. I went and got a second opinion from an honest mobile mechanic, and that guy discovered that Firestone was wrong, and not honest (at worst) or incompetent (at best). They almost ripped me off for $1600 (had we listened to their advice). Shame on you Firestone, Kailua is small town, and fortunately yelp is here to warn others. read more

Took my car in for an alignment, I have came here many times before with little to no issues. I get my car back after 3 days and the first thing I noticed is they left my car fully unlocked on the side parking. Wouldn't you want your car to be locked just for peace of mind? But anyways I start driving my car and immediately notice something is wrong, MY ALIGNMENT WAS TERRIBLE. So bad that I was basically turning left but I was going straight. This is where things get bad I took my FIRST left turn and boom tie rod pops out. So there I am on the side off the road waiting for a tow truck. How can firestone say they fix my alignment but fail to inform me that my tie rod was that bad? Don't ever go here, they will overcharge for everything, might not even fix your car and might even brake something else so you got to come back. Dumbfounded how they can be so careless now I have to buy a whole new car because I am not taking it in to change a rack and pinion and brand new tie rods and get my alignment done again waste of money waste of time. read more

My car never had any problems until I took it here. I took it into get an oil change, tire rotation, and a battery test along with checking other fluids, a week and a half to two weeks later by car shut down. Apparently my battery fried the alternator for some odd reason, the alternator shop said the battery was grounded somewhere which caused the alternator to short. I went back to talk to someone about it the guy at the front said "that people like to blame us just because we were the last to touch it. But they're just trying to find someone to blame, but it's not our fault and we can't do anything about it". I don't know about anyone else but if you're the last to touch it and it wasn't like that before and you did something wrong, A few weeks later all of a sudden my tire pressure gauge doesn't work only on my front driver side tire. I went back and told a different guy that my tire pressure gauge wasn't working and it only started after they did the tire rotation, he asked for my phone number to put on my account and he said I would have to pay over $60 to have them check it. Again, they were the last one to touch it but all of a sudden it's my problem. This is terrible customer service and the best part about it is the last guy talk to was the customer experience manager. Never going here again. read more

HORRIBLE! While your ahead, do not come here. I purchased 4 destination Firestone tires, and alignment for my Tacoma on July 7, 2015. Today is July 10, 2015 (3 days) I get a flat tire driving home from work! I'm a girl, and in my work uniform on a hot sunny day changed my tire on the side of the freeway!!!! I started thinking in my head I just bought these tires, I didn't run over anything and neither is there a hole in my tire. After looking at the flat tire I notice the valve is loose and leaking. So I take it back to fireStone I have a man named Richard check the tire, sure enough it's a loose valve. Then he tells me he has to go pick up a tire and it's going to take about 2 hours or so or I could come back tomorrow. So I told him I'll be back once it's done because I need my truck. So surprisingly in 45 minutes or so the truck is done! Get the call to pick it up. Go down, and I talk to a guy named Roland. Checking out at the register, no I didn't pay anything but still had to fill out the paperwork. While I'm signing he tells me sarcastically "you should purchase road hazard because if this were to happen again your going to have to pay" I look at him and tell him "It wasn't my fault I had a loose valve stem that was YOUR fault" then he tells me "yea well if you run over a nail it's your fault and you can't expect to come back here for free" ATTITUDE! And then he tells me "I just worked overtime and clocked out over an hour ago, if you want to talk to the manager about your issue then you can call him tomorrow, I'm a floater I work at all fire stones so you can deal with it with a manager." I don't know if he was looking for a sob story, but I have a life too, and if you guys did the job right the first time I wouldn't be here today! I'm so angry because of their service, and how I got absolutely NOTHING from this not even an apology. I will call corporate because something needs to be done! This place is horrible! I'm not going to do any emails, I want to talk to people in management because not only did this company inconvenience me they make me feel unsafe on the road and make me double think if my truck is really ok. You guys are tire specialist!? I think this place is a joke, and I will be sure to aware everyone this place is horrible! read more

In the process of moving off island I am already on the main land. due to some family and work things long story short my wife is still on-island tying up lose ends. One of those was to get an oil change and have her car checked out to be shipped (on Tuesday). on Saturday she dropped her car off to Firestone for an oil change and inspection for shipping. I should also throw in that she put ~70-120 miles a day on her car for work. On Monday during her work day she kept smelling gas or oil and felt that something wasn't right. Sure enough she popped the hood, no gas cap, oil everywhere. An incredibly dangerous fire hazard, not to mention a car we were preparing to ship- they KNEW that. Poor service, incredibly hazardous mistake. read more

I am surprised by the currently low overall rating for Firestone; I've had mostly good experiences working with them over the years (looks like since 2013). My husband and I take our vehicles there for regular oil changes with our discount coupons (search online), and Firestone has been good with letting us know the expected timeframe and calling us to let us know ready for pick-up. I like how Firestone does a courtesy check for the battery and tires, so I can plan ahead if needed (price checking). For my old car, I had bought the new set of tires there - helpful for tires' lifetime free rotation and balance. On more serious issues - Firestone did a pretty good job with troubleshooting and fixing a coolant leak and oil leak. More recently I took in my new-to-me car for a walk-in safety inspection (not sure if now need appointments or if walk-ins still OK). Plan to keep on going here forever and ever. read more

I definitely prefer Firestone to Goodyear and other automotive repair companies. I usually have a good experience at the Kailua branch, the customer service reps are good and the techs usually do great work. However, after my last experience at this facility I am thoroughly dissapointed. I took it in because my car was over heating and I figured it had to do with the radiator. I dropped the car off this past Tuesday, Thursday morning they call to give me the results of the diagnostics and the first thing they tell me is that their tech had been calling the wrong number for two days. The correct number had been on the contract the whole time. After the service was complete I picked up the vehicle. The first thing I noticed is how filthy the inside of the car was. In the past I noticed other technicians taking precautions to protect the inside of the vehicle from grease and oil stains, but this time it was appearent that wasn't the case. There were several places that grease had been left behind on my interior. Then I start the car and the next thing I notice is that all the lights on my dash are on; the slip light, check engine light, and the VDC off light were all lit. I also noticed the engine was already warm, thus symbolizing that the car had been running recently. That being said I would imagine that the reason the engine was warm was because the tech had been checking to make ensure the problem had been fixed. However, how did they not notice that all of these indication lights were on? As I started driving I noticed that the gears were slipping and that the engine was choking out when idling so I went back. After inspecting the vehicle they found that the tech had forgotten to plug in a component and that was causing the aforementioned problems. They apologized, plugged in the component that had been forgotten and I left. They tech even came out and said, "that was my bad." The next morning the car wouldn't start. I called them to ask if there was something else that had been forgotten and they said that I could bring it down for further diagnostics. They also advised I check the battery. When I attempted to jump the vehicle I noticed that the battery terminal clamps hadn't even been tightened! The positive clamp was hardly on the terminal at all! Upon popping the hood I also noticed that a lot of the plastic peices used to hold the engine covers were broken/missing. I also noticed that the battery cover was broken and that it appeared as though coolant had been spilt all over my engine when the radiator was extracted and worse that there had been a poor attempt to wipe some of it up. This to me is sloppy work for a firestone tech. I would think that the tech would take more pride in their work than this! read more

Firestone quoted us one price on the phone, charged us $16 just to inspect the brakes, and then wanted to charge more than the original phone quote when we got there, not to mention telling us we needed new front rotors and new brakes on the back too, both of which were fine according to Goodyear. read more

Never take your car here for service of any kind. I also gave these guys more than one chance, but that was a big mistake. My first issue was that after a tire rotation and oil change all but one of the wheel center covers for my 2003 Toyota Tacoma popped off on the road. When I noticed they came off the day after service they told me they were probably stolen. For some reason I believed this and took my wife 2004 Nissan Altima in for an oil change. The mechanic put wiper washer fluid into the coolant overflow tank causing the fluid to overflow onto the alternator. My real mechanic confirmed that this is what killed the alternator. Jennifer at Firestone told me over the phone they would repair the alternator at no charge, but when I brought the car in the manager confirmed they did put fluid in the wrong place but they were not responsible for the damage to the alternator! He did not even offer to flush out the coolant but quoted me a price $200 over what my mechanic charged me to replace the alternator. read more

so i write a pretty bad review for firestone i look to see if it posted,it did not, so i look to see if any replys from firestone, there is one under my name for someone else that had an issue,i did the online review that firestone sent me,they said they would call, still waiting after trying to sell me 3000.00 worth of air conditioner because there tech let 2/3 of the gas out and stated the compressor was leaking..........im not stupid and was so mad i went back the next day,the manager was there he took car back rite away and was fixed in 20 min i asked the tech what was wrong he stated that there was about 1\3 of the refrigerant in the system my thought was how many times has the person trusted what they said, and i bet they could sell all the old parts to. i thank the manager for fixing the problem i can only hope the tech gets the same thing done to him, read more

I bought tires for my Honda at this shop a year and a half ago. I had my car serviced at the Honda dealer because I thought that I had a wheel bearing problem as the noise coming from the wheels when I drive was unbelievably loud. The Honda service mgr told me that the car was perfect, but said that the noise was coming from the tires. He suggested I go back to the Firestone shop and complain. When I needed an oil change, I decided to go to Firestone and bring up the unreal tire noise. I told the person there that the ride was very noisy and coming from the tires and I got a blank stare. When I picked up the car from the oil change and drove it off the lot, I almost got killed driving into traffic as the car kept stalling (NEVER did that before!). I went back into Firestone and told them what was happening. They sent a tech out to look at my car, and discovered that they left the air cleaner cover off of the car when they did my "safety check" which was causing the engine to stall repeatedly. DO NOT trust this shop with your car. IMO the tires are junk and they do not have reputable service technicians. read more

We've taken at least three of our cars to this place for the past 4 years. Multiple problems from 1) not passing my safety inspection, because "I needed new tires", when I took it to another service station I passed with flying colors and they said my tires were fine (must have been because I'm a female and Firestone thought they could con me into buying new tires!!) 2) Couldn't align my car and said the part would cost $150, I then took it to the dealer and they did it just fine. 3) Took our car to have a routine oil change an alignment, the car was not ready at the specified time for pick up, they had over 9 hours to get the job done (not even a phone call to inform us of the delay). FEMALES don't go there because they'll treat you poorly, the service men seem rude and don't treat the cars with much respect. This was the last time I ever go back to this establishment, I gave them one to many chances already. read more
