I usually come here for my oil changes, but after today's experience, I won't be returning. I had a 1:00 PM appointment, I was originally told by the technician that it would take about 45 minutes. Two hours later, at 3:00 PM, I still didn't have my car back. What made the situation even more frustrating was watching another customer come in after me for an oil change and get her car serviced and leave within the amount of time I had already been waiting. I completely understand that delays can happen, but waiting over two hours for an appointment that was supposed to take 45 minutes, with no reasonable explanation, is unacceptable. I've given this place my business before, but unfortunately, after today, I'll be taking my car somewhere else. I had a really horrible Experience at Firestone in Lombard. I came for an Alignment and they ended up breaking the Inner Tie Rod. I understand that Accidents happen but trying to make me pay over $1,100 for their mistake is INSANE. I asked them to give me a Solution and all I was told is that "it happens" The Manager didn't even care. I had to drive my car back home with a broken Inner Tie Rod. Thank God I only live 3 minutes away. PLEASE DON'T TRUST THIS LOCATION. I believe that Firestone is great but the one here in Lombard needs to be manage better. They don't care. So, I had a total bummer of a day flat tire! The sidewall was the culprit, and even though I had a warranty, the dealership said it was a shifted belt and wouldn't cover it. Their tire prices? Let's just say they were astronomical! Then I called your store, and I talked to Tim. Man, what a lifesaver! He was super helpful, took his time explaining my options, and didn't rush me like some other places did. I really appreciated his knowledge and honesty. He pointed out I needed two tires because of the different tread sizes on my axles and while he suggested Firestone or Bridgestone he also said if I was only replacing one, I should stick with what I already had no pressure to upsell me! I came in to get a free break inspection and Ed and his team went above and beyond to secure my business and my satisfaction. I ended up getting new pads and rotors for my VW beetle for 1000$ They doubled my warranty to 3 years 24,000 miles and I tested my breaker and they Sound SOO MUCH BETTER. I'm really happy I listened to Ed and he was really the selling point for me, he was patient, helpful and happy to answer any questions I had about the quote. Bud handled my payment, and he was an absolute professional and joy to talk to. I have full confidence in this location and their management and I expect to be back when I need new pads! read more

Just FYI, for you ladies out there.. My wife made the appointment ..... and if I didn't pick it up, she probably would not have noticed Took her Ford edge in for an alignment and tire rotation. I picked it up the next morning. Drove it down the street. Car still pulling to the right. Get out and look , they did not rotate the tires. Go back to the shop, inquire that they did not rotate the tires and it's still pulling to the right. They apologize and didn't know why they didn't happen. Then they walked outside and said that because one of the front tires is showing wear. they were not allowed to do it for safety reasons. (tires are not that bad). So I said you don't want to put the good tires on the front for steering? Then why did you charge me for the tire rotation? They did give me quote for $2500 for new struts shocks and everything else of course which it does not need. I am a mechanic and that stuff I can take care of myself if it needs it. I believe since I did not purchase their quote. They did not do the alignment or anything.. never going back read more

I received both the worst service and the worst customer service I've ever experienced in my life at this Firestone location. I showed up on a Wednesday to drop my car off. The A/c had stopped working, it was due for an oil change, and I wanted to have the whole thing looked at with a full vehicle inspection because I had a road trip coming up, on which I would be taking my toddler. When I showed up, the person checking me in had AirPods in the whole time and was almost completely non-verbal with me. I told them multiple times why I was there, emphasizing the A/C and the oil change. They asked if I wanted to wait, but I said I'd come back because I had to work. I was told it'd be ready by 3:00. 3:00 rolled around, and I called before going to get pick up my vehicle. At that point, I was told nothing had been done to it yet. They person who took my call told me they would start running tests as part of the full vehicle inspection, but that's I'd likely not get my car back that day. They said they'd call me with their findings and see what work I'd like to have the. Due based on those findings. After 4:00, I called again, and they told me that I needed a new thermostat. I asked if that was the problem with the A\C and they said maybe but that it would have more to do with the engine overheating. I told them to fix it and again requested they look directly at the A/C (it is summer, and I am going to have a toddler in the car for an extended period of time) At this point, they told me very condescendingly that air conditioning "is a nice to have." They also insisted I needed a new battery (which had already been recently replaced). To make a long story somewhat shorter, I brought it in Wednesday, I did not get it back until Friday, they missed multiple deadlines for callbacks and blew past my pickup time by an hour and a half, during which I sat and waited. Why did I have to wait so long? They had never done an oil change by the time I arrived to pick it up. And guess what, when I finally get in the car, the A/c doesn't work. I got the car home, called them back and told them that I was coming back to have them finish looking at the A/C. They then quoted me the required part with the most insane markup I've ever seen and almost another grand in labor to fix it. Fast forward to the road trip. I'm in the car with my wife and child, it starts making a terrible noise, we smell burning oil, it stops accelerating, and the wheel locks up. We roll off to the side of the road. I brought it in for an oil change and A/C fix, and I ended up on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere with a smoking engine and a toddler crying in the backseat as we sit and wait for help in the heat. I refuse to believe this is not the direct result of something done to my car at that Firestone. read more

Something a little weird happened the last couple times I came to this location. I indicated this location to my mom and I regret it so much. Las time we were there, my mom's car was making a strong noise and shaking when she pressed the break, so we stopped by to check it. They said it was the brake mount or front mount (I don't remember exactly) and they said it would cost her 800 dollars. After she left the place the car was worse, shaking and making a bigger noise, so she decided to go to another mechanic to make another estimate. To our surprise the mechanic was impressed by what he saw. He said that the car was good and the only thing was some loose screws that he tightened and the car was in perfect condition after that and still is. He didn't charge anything to her. That is a rip off, I already told a couple friends that I recommended it before and we will not go back to this place. My mom is going to another mechanic that she can trust now. read more

Spent $2200 at this location on a new exhaust and full brake job, but the work was not completed/installed properly. I dropped it back off and after more than 24 hours I still didn't have an answer or diagnosis. Instead I was told I should spend another $800 on an alternator and belt tensioner, and there was no tech there that day to complete the work to boot. Save yourself the money, the attitude from Shaun, and the hassle of being dicked around and drive the 3 miles further to the Glen Ellyn Firestone. They properly attached the new muffler free of charge that the Lombard store did not. It really is a shame because Eddie the store manager at Lombard seemed very polite and competent, but I can't say the same for the rest of his team. We have been coming to this Firestone for a couple years. That's what makes this most recent experience so very disappointing. We brought in our son's 2001 Grand Am for a thermostat replacement. They quoted $108 to diagnose issue and change the oil. They called my husband several times through the 6 hours they were working on our car, convincing him (hard selling and scare tactics) to keep adding work to the list. When I went in to pick it up, we now owed almost $1600! They wouldn't credit the original diagnostic charge even though we did the work (and more). The real kicker is that I added up the labor hours for each item and they totalled 11.5 hours! They must also have the ability to change the laws of physics since they worked on our car for only 6 hors! This was a $2500 beater and they worked us over. When i brought up the issue of hours, they explained that this is a standard practice to charge "book" hours, no matter how long it takes the technician.. In fact, the guy refused to discuss it and demanded payment. We won't be back EVER! SHAME ON FIRESTONE! read more

Jim is great, by mistake they used the wrong oil during an oil change. It was more of a back up to the recommended oil. I called when realizing this, and he fixed the problem. When the company vehicle required quickie maintenance, I was told to call Firestone (at an alternate location) and get the thing in. Well, I did; and sadly they were not accommodating whatsoever. Having rolled by this Firestone a few times I thought I would give them a try. Though busy and almost closing time, the service tech not only was helpful, but the guys stayed an extra few to get me on the road again. I appreciated not having to return; and what a difference in treatment. Though it was a simple oil change, lube, filter, tire rotation, they not only get great marks from me, but they were personable too. I had an appointment for a brake inspection. The technician called to inform me that I needed an entire brake job. Front and back pads, rotors and a new caliper. The cost was ridiculous... When I told them I would take the car somewhere else for a 2nd opinion they initially said ok. A few minutes later I received a call back to tell me that they misquoted me on the price for new rotors and that they would actually be $99 each vs. $165. I refused the service took the car to Packey Webb Ford and was informed that my front brakes were absolutely fine and that I possibility had another 10-15K miles of wear available. My back brakes did need to be repaired but there was no need for the caliper as Firestone had insisted. The savings of going to the dealer was over $500. I don't know if they were trying to take advantage of me because I was a woman or if they are just plain idiots who do not know what they are doing. I believe it's a combination of both. I would advise anyone to beware if soliciting service from this shop. I now understand why Firestone will never lose their reputation of bad service. They definitely will never see me again!!! read more

RIPOFF - BEWARE!! Received a $15 coupon for a full synthetic oil change. Determined that the price was fair from their price board. However, my vehicle takes an extra 2 quarts of oil per change. Price of oil change with 5 quarts of oil was $43. Extra 2 quarts of oil was charged at $23.20!!!! Then they charge for the filter, $4.99, an extra $5 for a premium oil change AND of course you have to pay a disposal fee, for which they sell the oil to a recycler! My great deal cost me, with tax - $86.49. I will never be back to them for another oil change nor repair and you should check your prices BEFORE they do any work on your car/truck! read more

Recently had my front brakes replaced on my Volkswagen at this location, under 50 miles into my new brakes I experienced grinding noises and squeaking when breaking. I returned to the store they told me I had another issue with my car. I did not believe them and I than took my car to the Volkswagen dealership to verify the issues, I was told the parts I was quoted at Firestone are fine and did not need to be replaced, I was told by Volkswagen they replaced the breaks incorrectly and would recommend I return to Firestone to have my breaks replaced, Volkswagen kindly sent me with a list of defects that would have happened on the install of the new breaks. I was told by Firestone that the breaks were installed correctly and there was nothing they would do. So if you want bad service and bad mechanics this is the place to go. Brought my car in for a tire rotation, an oil change, and a free brake inspection. It took almost 4 hours to get everything done! After 3 hours, I was given a call and was told that my car would be done in half an hour. I went by a half hour later, and they still had not finished the oil change. The clerk (nice guy) showed me some things that he recommended I service, which was about the only plus with this first experience here. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be coming back. Went into this newly opened store around 7:30 on a Monday night. Even though they close at 8pm, the Service Manager was very helpful in getting my battery tested and ultimately replaced. This store is brand new so it is much nicer than the old Yorktown location. I suggest checking the Firestone website for coupons. As I wandered lost looking for assistance a man came called out "Can I help you?" from the side entrance. The man had a frown and he was not helpful or friendly at all. I thought I found my new car care provider. Initially I would have given this place 5 stars when I first started using them. I have even recommended them to friends. I started using this business for my oil changes after I started to think my previous provider was doing a poor job. Again, I was impressed - initially. I then purchased new tires for two vehicles here as well as more oil change services. So today when I called and asked if there was a wait for an oil change I got excited when the person who answered the phone (I forgot his name) quickly said no. I explained I was on the road and would be there as soon as possible, the gentlemen on the phone even insisted in making an appointment for me. Unfortunately I was 7 minutes late to the appointment the gentlemen made. My tardiness was due to traffic, I even explained to the call taker where I was at and we both agreed on a time allowing for traffic, but not enough. When I walked in it took longer than necessary to be greeted and when I was greeted by "Steve M" (not the person on the phone) this gentlemen did not even look at me when he asked "what are you here for?" I said I had an appointment and was there for an oil change and then apologized for being a couple minutes late. Steve asked if I was dropping off my vehicle. Surprised about this question because I was only there for an oil change, I asked what the wait was. Steve told it would be about two hours. I said I called and someone said there would not be that kind of wait. He said, "you should have made an appointment." I told him I did and he replied, "but you are late." As you all know at any of these kind of stores your car (almost) never goes in the back on time. If this is how I am going to be treated about seven minutes there are many other places along Roosevelt Road who will gladly change your oil in less time even being seven minutes late for an appointment. While a lot of variables can make changing your oil more difficult than other cars I have a very oil change friendly vehicle (I used to do it all the time, now that I am in a condo and do not have the place to do it I have it done for me). Especially when you are working with automated tools and a vehicle lift, 2 hours is a ridiculous amount of time to suggest for an oil change. Even if it took an hour, two hours is unacceptable estimate for an oil change on an average/typical road vehicle (Ford Explorer). This just demonstrates the professionalism of this one employee and how it can effect the whole institution. I had nothing but pleasant experiences here in the past. Normally I would have asked to speak with a manager, but this persons demeanor totally turned my opinion of this establishment. While debating if I should give them another try I am weary about this employee in particular. I do not want you to think that this is my only complaint about this whole incident. I went home and thought people have bad days, I needed this oil change to be done soon so I thought I would see if an email to corporate would help. Surprised, I received an email within minutes. Albeit asking for the same contact information I provided on their website. A few days later I was sent an email from the same gentlemen who asked for my contact information and said the managment from that store would contact me. It has been over two months. Not a single call from this store location, no followup from the corporate office. This is not how you do business with anyone. I would avoid this place at all costs till they get the right people back in that store (Hans for example, pardon any typo regarding his name). Let me start by saying I LOATHE auto shops that take advantage of women. This is one of those places that relishes in this form of scumbaggery. My GF went in to have a squeaky noise in her brakes fixed. These turds pulled the old "in addition to new pads, you'll need new rotars, new callipers, blah blah blah - and that'll be $1,100+ dollars." We hastily retrieved the car and brought it to Charley's Auto in Villa Park and addressed the problem for UNDER $200! This place is permanently dead to us. Stay away!!! read more

After he, she and the old lady told me never to go back to Firestone, I actually took the advice, went to an independent auto shop, and would you know, problem identified and solved within a couple hours. Keeping it brief. Bought 4 Ecopia Bridgestones for my X5 2 years ago. $1000 bucks mounted and "Balanced" way overpriced WITHOUT Alignment. Had them Re-balanced 3 times. Stay away, I went here a few times to try and save a few dollars from DuPage Auto and Tire. Had them do an alignment on two of my cars, both cars have metal valve stem caps. Somehow these idiots stripped 6 of the 8 threads on them and to make sure I didn't find out they over tightened the valve caps to the point that I needed vise grips to break them free. Neither of the car's alignment is anywhere near where it should be but that is the least of my problems. If these idiots can't screw on a simple valve cap how can you trust them to perform any work on your car? Do yourself a favor and run away from these morons, I'm still struggling to get one of the valve caps off without the stem ripping apart with it. Go down the street and pay the premium, now I'm going to have to take it to Dupage Auto and Tire for all new valve stems and going to have to purchase new valve caps. Thanks, Firestone, I saved a few bucks up front but now it's going to cost me unnecessarily more money and time to correct their mistakes. read more

I needed a new muffler and valve cover so I was shopping around for a good price and I stopped in. I figured since they were new I might get a good deal.. Boy was I wrong! First of all they wouldn't let me go in and watch them inspect the car ( which I have found that any reputable shop will let you look at it with them ) after they looked at it for about 10 min they let me come in and showed me what they found. They said I needed the whole exhaust system which included the catalitic converter, which is an expensive part. Well my estimate for the exhaust and the valve cover was over $1,200, Then they also told me that I was going to need a full set of tires by Spring...Since I was in there after March 20 it was already Spring, and I have plenty of tread on my tires...They aren't brand new but I most certainly didn't need new ones!! It's a shame because I read a review from someone who sang the praises of Firestone I feel sorry for people who aren't knowledgeable about cars in the least who get sucked in to these kind of repair places!! I then took it to Murphy's Auto Repair at 16 W Roosevelt Rd. Lombard. ( they used to be Meineke but are now an independent shop ) They are a great shop! I took my car there when it needed brakes and they only fix what needs to be fixed as they did with my exhaust system. Mary who is the wife of the mechanic new as much about what needed to be done as her husband. And they let me look at the system with them and explained what needed to be done and how they would be able to fix it for alot less money than a new system They were able to find a part of the exhaust system that only one parts store carries and were able to weld it on instead of having to replace the whole system Well my bill was a whopping $512..more than half of what Firestone quoted me.. I'm reading the bad reviews and can't believe it, they where from a while ago so maybe the staff has changed. I've taken my trucks here numerous times and have excellent service. Robert and his techs are amazing!! Yes, at times it may take a while for the work to get done but if you want a 30 minute oil change take it to jiffy lube, if you want it done right, take it here. I've worked in this business and customers need to remember they aren't the only ones getting work done. It's their job to recommend work, if your brake pads are bad, it's normal to suggest rotors and calipers, it will save you money in the long run to have the work done all at once. And btw, I'm a woman, they have NEVER tried to pull one over on me. I love this place and I won't go anywhere else!!!!! read more
