I've used Firestone stores for about 20 years for routine maintenance like oil changes, fluid services like coolant and AC, brakes, tires, alignment (they have a great $99 LIFETIME (per car0 alignment deal that pays for it self the second time you use it - I have bought this service for all my cars), and Complete Vehicle Check-up. Be aware that service, once you are checked in, is pretty slow. Oil changes typically take 1.5 hours, so I bring work if I wait, or if its brakes or something else i drop the car off for the day. Although the shops vary in quality, and management turnover at stores is pretty frequent, adding to the variables. In the past, I've typically been able to find ones near me that do a good job, but just as often I have hit a poorly managed store - and sometimes a store I have used in the past has a management change and service takes a real nose-dive. In San Antonio, however, I have not had much luck with the stores - at least those on the SE side. Service has been poor, they got my contact records all screwed up and it took 3 store visits and a call to corporate customer service to get it fixed. And work quality is between OK and questionable. The only store so far that I was satisfied with was the one at 2400 SW Military Dr, San Antonio, TX 78224. They fixed my records, gave good quality service and fairly timely - oil change and brake flush took less than 2 hours pretty fast for Firestone. Regarding routine services recommendation: I found that if I stuck to just the routine services, service quality was pretty reliable. I use the Complete Checkup because several times they have identified more serious problems that needed attention. They always provide a service estimate. HOWEVER, I learned early-on **never** to have them do the actual work because their tech turnover is too high, and none - or very, very few - are knowledgable or skilled enough for the serious work. Instead I find highly reliable and honest service shops **from referrals** that specialize in my particular car brand or country of origin (Japanese, German, etc), and get their opinions and quotes. I have had a lot of success handling repairs this way, saving a lot of money and getting higher quality results. read more

I scheduled an appointment for 3:00 PM today and showed up exactly on time. When I checked in, the employee explicitly told me it would take 45 minutes to an hour at most. I waited patiently and went up to check on my car at the 45-minute mark. The gentleman told me it was "almost done." I waited another 15 minutes (an hour total since checking in) and asked for another update, only to find out they hadn't even started on my vehicle yet. It is completely unacceptable to lie to customers about the status of their vehicle just to keep them waiting around. If you don't have the staff or the time to honor a 3:00 PM appointment, don't take the booking. I ended up taking my keys and leaving. Unprofessional, dishonest, and a total waste of my afternoon. Very slow service. I was vacationing & had the misfortune of getting a nail in my tire. The tire was already removed & I was driving on the donut. I was assisted by a courteous guy & told 1hr -1 1/2 hr wait. Unfortunately I didn't get his name. Things were moving along until they put my car on the lift. It was there forever. I finally had to walk up to the desk & ask what's going on. That seemed to get them moving until one guy was going to try & tell me my tire wasn't patch able. His coworker told him it was & they eventually fix it. Overall, the service was slow & one worker was going to try & sale me a new tire when mine was fixable. So beware. You know how they say it's hard to find an honest mechanic? That holds true about Firestone. I took my car in for their $10 check up deal. They told me I needed $2500 in repairs. I told them I'll go get a second opinion. Today, I take my car to an actual Toyota dealership. They found nothing wrong with it. Where do I start off? Let's start off with the fact that there were four men there, but apparently out of the four only two were useful. When was the sales rep who only know how to sell tires and I guess over price you for everything but doesn't know how to put his hands on a vehicle so when a person calls out he can actually be useful then there is another person that I guess just pools cars and it's also useless to touch the car when I got there I only needed them to replace two tires and put them on the rams. You can get the tire off and put it on at the same time while you're doing other things like an oil change for another car that they didn't even have jacked up, so are you doing a Noyle change the right way? Are you doing it the wrong way? Who knows then you're telling me it takes 30 minutes for an inspection that's so funny cause I just got my car inspected and it took them no longer than 10 minutes and when I go to take five for an oil change, it literally takes no more than 15 minutes on their worst day 20 ever you to tell me, it is an hour wait before one of your mechanics puts their hands on my vehicle was an utter shame, and quite honestly a disappointment. It just goes to show that your men cannot multitask and do more than one thing at once, because they are useless you had four docs two of them were taken you had enough space to take another vehicle in and they take my tires but instead you told me it's going to be a weight of an hour while I have people standing on the side of the road keeping my car safe it is unacceptable. I went in here with a flat no appointment. Dropped it off at 10am got it back at 430pm. The tire "had" to be replaced. I'm fine with that it happens. Tire showing no problem was replaced. Where the flat tire with know problem still had original tire on. When I called and questioned what happened to the tire and why there was a new tire in the wrong spot. They told me they replaced the tire with mail in it and they didn't see any problems in other tires. I gave them the benefit of the doubt maybe someone rotated it and didn't put it in notes. Next day same bad tire is going flat again. I will be going to another location to hopefully get my tire fixed/replaced for real this time. read more

I had an appt, and arrived 15 minutes early. 30 minutes after my appt. time, they finally got to my truck. Had a vibration in the front figured I needed an alignment... Three and a half hours later they had taken my tires off and switched them twice and test drove my truck three times and said I had a bad tire so they put it on the back so it wouldn't vibrate the front. charged me $75 and the mechanic put his greasy hands ALL OVER the outside of my blizzard Pearl white Platinum that I had just spent four ours detailing myself. $615 is painful to spend especially if you are half prepared for the expense. It was an urgent needed expense nonetheless. On a Sunday, one's search for an open vehicle service center is much more difficult, to say the least. I took a chance with Firestone for the first time. I noticed my radiator coolant dripping after I had my oil change at Walmart. Walmart warned me to have my oil drain plug checked for possible leak. That was a blessing in disguise because if not for that purpose, a much more serious issue would have been unchecked and disastrous. My radiator hose clamp was defective as well as my thermostat housing was also leaking. The people at Firestone were caring enough to make my experience as least painful as possible by making sure that my expense was worthwhile. Stephanie explained the expense in detail with care and great customer service. I was blessed that Jeff, the lead mechanic chose to make Sunday one of his work days. If not for his professional expertise, more damage would have happened to my vehicle. I heard from Firestone staff that Jeff is one of the best techs in the city. I thank God for guiding my spirit to have my vechicle looked at, on a Sunday. Money is something that can painfully be spent, but if it's not in vain, money can always come back one way or another. This place is HORRIBLE. I wish I could leave zero stars. I got new tires put on my car yesterday at a different tire place in San Antonio. While there, they did a battery check and everything was A-OK. Today, I went into this Firestone to get an alignment on my vehicle. I got back to pick up my car thirty minutes after I got a call saying it was ready and my car was still in the shop with the hood up (in hindsight they were probably looking for more issues). I received a recommended service list in the amount of $1,000.00, including a $200.00 suggestion to replace a BAD BATTERY!!! After checking on the battery (a THIRD time) at AutoZone, I was told (once again) that everything was FINE and my battery was in good condition. These people are liars and con-artists. They will do anything to make an extra buck. My husband and I will NEVER return to this location. Take your business anywhere else. So I get here with a request to change a special size tire which is a 4.10-ANHS. I have all parts, rim, tire and tube. I was laughed out of there in 10 seconds!!! Manager told me as he laughed, "That tire will not fit in our tire machine so we will not do it." Horrible customer service. We dropped my husbands work truck off to get new tires and oil change at 2:30pm Saturday, they said it would be done that day. We said great but he had to work so we said we would pick up Sunday. Then they called a little later and said they needed to get tires from another store and it would be done first thing in the morning. Ok no problem. Showed up at 3:45pm and his truck was on the lift with no tires on it! Girl at counter said the guy just left to get the 4th tire. Are you kidding me? And when I brought up that we were told it would be done first thing she said well she didn't work yesterday so she knows nothing about that. Ok, well I'm telling you right now. I came to this firestone highly recommended and I even bought a new set of tires from this location but I will never go back the owner of the business or so he says is a total jackass. He gave me the impression that he was doing me a favor by me giving him my business. This guy was rude an condescending to me. I felt that because I'm a woman that I don't know about my car. I went in for an oil change and I'll never go back. I drive 15 miles to Southwest Ford from now on. They are much more considerate an respectful of me and my time plus they are much more efficient. My mistake is that I got a bounce back for 5.00 of my inspection right but it was going to be an hour and a half to do a 10 minuet task.
