I am so grateful for these guys at Firestone auto, they went above and beyond to help me when I was in a real pinch. My car's battery died and I was starting to panic because it was getting dark and the person I was talking to with the roadside assistance program that I paid extra for when I bought my car was giving me a hard time. I happened to look up and noticed that firestone was within walking distance so I decided to take a chance on them instead of dealing with roadside assistance. One of the employees walked to my car to give it a jump (my car broke down quite a distance away from the business) and then they changed my battery for me, no problem at all. On 12/09/2022 I had the misfortune of scheduling an oil change at this location. They informed me they were backed up and it would take until about 6pm to finish with the vehicle. I told them that was okay and I understood and would just walk around the area until they were finished. 2 and 1/2 hours later (well after they were closed) I walked up to a closed shop and them shutting the door. I quickly ran around back to check in with my vehicles progress and noticed it was still up in the racks. Not one of the employees would make eye contact with me and when I finally asked, "Hey guys, do you know how much longer it's gonna be?", a man walked me over to my vehicle and showed me where they had bent my oil pan from applying too much pressure in an attempt to remove the drain plug. The mechanics explained that they had forced it off, causing a bend in the oil pain, and rendering it incapable of functioning, causing an oil leak. I asked them about the cost of fixing their mistake and they quoted me $300-$1200. I asked them if they could do anything to lower the cost of this breakage and they seemed apprehensive. They said they would fix it and then a week later after many calls told me that they thought I was going to call a tow truck to service it to a more respectable mechanic shop. Then after over a month of calling the service location, customer service, a claims representative, and corporate, they informed me that they would not take ownership of the damages caused to my vehicle under their care. The mechanic shop that I had it towed to has sent me photos of where it is very obvious that Firestone's carelessness is to blame for the current damage to my vehicle, and even suggested that I take Firestone to court, yet no one will respond to my calls. Avoid this place at all costs. Firestone does not care to take care of you the customer, and only devices its sick and twisted ways of screwing you over. Tell your friends and family. read more

Firestone Complete Auto Care - The broken oil pan caused by Firestone employees being inadequate mechanics - Tires Near Me - Thousand Oaks, California

At 5:15 PM last night, on the way to visit my dad in the hospital, I hit a rockslide coming around a curve and blew both tires on the right side of my car. I don't carry 2 spares (who does) and was totally stuck! I called AAA and was told that they would have a tow truck to me within 45 minutes... I started calling tire stores (American Tire, Discount Tire, etc.) and the story for all of them was exactly the same.... "WE CLOSE AT 6PM AND WON"T STAY OPEN LATE FOR AN EMERGENCY." When the AAA driver arrived with his flatbed (thank you Roy's Towing!) the driver called his dispatch to confirm Firestone Complete Auto Care at the Thousand Oaks Mall was open until 7 PM. We called ahead, Joshua answered the phone, told us it would be no problem. We arrived at 6:10 and I was back on the road with two new tires at 6:51 PM.... I am so grateful to the Firestone corporate staff that realizes most of us work until 5:30 or 6PM and, even more thankful, to entire team at the T.O. Firestone that made it possible for me to make it to the hospital before the end of visiting hours!!! Had my car serviced at Firestone in the Oaks Mall on Thursday (Oil change). The guy came out and said my battery tested bad and needed to be replaced, my windshield wipers needed replacement, and my brake fluid was low, and meant that I probably needed by brakes replaced. (also said I needed maintenance on the tires I had purchased elsewhere 2 months ago. He was trying to sell me on all of these things which I declined. He said I could go out and get stuck if the battery died. Since I bought it at AAA, I came home and called them. They looked at receipt for the test and told me he used the wrote code which gave a false reading, and the AAA test shows that it is good. Then he opened the hood, and we were both shocked to see my battery. Apparently rats or mice had been under my hood, and had their food source (seed pods from my neighbors tree covering the battery. (See picture). He never even mentioned this to me when he came in and told me I needed to replace the battery. I went down the next day. (It poured rain and nothing wrong with the windsheild wipers), and showed the manager the picture of what was under my hood after 2 other shops were shocked to see that they just left that stuff on the battery without blowing it out. He kept giving excuses for his tech saying that they wouldnt be able to do that in their service area. Since you can enter their service area from the front and go right out the back, I send they could have done it outside. Then his reasoning was that they air compresser wouldnt go that far. Anyway they could have broomed it out, wiped it, etc. Instead, he chose not to even mention it to me when he tried to sell me a new battery. He probably thought I would never raise my hood. Anyway, with all of his excuses, how would he even change the battery if I had chose to do so without getting that stuff on his service area? I made an appointment to have the tires switched and when I got to the store they made me wait for hours to correct a mistake that they made. I guess I can understand why there are negative reviews for a place like this. Nobody likes to hear bad news about their car because the unexpected $$ can really add up quickly. At least from my experiences, this particular Firestone has treated me with respect and provided prompt, friendly service. Keep in mind that I've only done oil changes and some other minor services at Firestone thus far. I have yet to have "major" work performed on our cars. The employees I've dealt with have been honest and helpful when servicing my cars. There's always a little upsell when it comes to car service places so I'm used to the rhetoric. Firestone however doesn't really put on the full court press. They have their normal suggestions but when you say no that's the last of the saleman pitch you'll get. Also, they are upfront with the time quotes when servicing your car. Luckily the T.O mall is right there to take advantage of especially if you've got a long wait. Fingers crossed that I won't need any major work done but if something does come up I'd would definitely consider using Firestone as my car service place. So this summer if you're in need of some car maintenance and maybe some retail therapy (in the T.O. mall of course) then give Firestone a try. read more

The Thousand Oaks Mall location is the best! I was helped by Daniel (he has helped me several different times now) and he is unfailing courteous, informative, and helpful. Every time I have come to here Daniel and the rest of the staff are so nice. They tell me which items need immediate attention, and which repairs will be likely be needed soon (with a timeline). My boyfriend called 4 days in advance to schedule an appointment for a transmission service for his 2015 Mercedes CLA 250. A few minutes after walking into Firestone, my boyfriend comes back to tell me that they don't have the proper tools and equipment to service his vehicle. I don't have the name of the employee who booked his appointment but no employee should be booking appointment without making sure they can do the job! This was a complete waste of our time and on top of that they didn't offer him a concession for the inconvenience. A coupon or free oil change would have softened the blow a little bit. By the time we were done with this fiasco, it was too late to find an appointment anywhere else because auto shops close so early on Saturdays. ******Crooks Alert! They take advantage of people who don't know any better****** They didn't touch my car for two weeks. No one called me. They drained my battery and wouldn't replace it. Instead they lied and said my alternator was bad and that's why it died. They quoted me $600.00 in repairs to replace the battery and alternator. I drove over, Jump started my Jeep, drove around for 30min, parked went and watched TV for a bit, came back out, and it fired right up. Parked it, drove my other jeep for two weeks, check on it..... So Chris needed an oil change and having lived in Thousand Oaks at one point, and now working there, he decided to pull into Firestone at the Thousand Oaks Mall. He's spoken previously about how his car has never been taken care of as good as when he's gone there. He pulled into the Firestone, without an appointment, around 8 AM. After they arranged to do the oil change, Chris went off to work. Well turns out Chris needed some brakes and tires too (he really did and has been putting it off waaaay to long) but with the added expenses we weren't really ready to pull the trigger on all that again. Pablo, who should be sainted for the work he did on that car, called him and gave him a full breakdown on what needed to be replaced. Chris voiced his concern about the price and worked with Chris to try and set him up with a Firestone card. Wait a second... Chris already had a Firestone card from about 8 years ago that he forgot about and Pablo just had the card reactivated and took care of billing everything straight to that account. Not only did Pablo find a way to help us get everything taken care of all at once, he did a once over on the rest if the car and noticed Chris' back brakes had the wrong rotors... He called Chris and told him about this and it turns out Chris got his back brakes replaced at Brake Masters in Ventura a month ago and they didn't even put on the right parts!!! Pablo wrote up the findings in an inspection that Chris was able to take to Brake Masters today and they admitted fault and ordered the correct parts. When Chris got home from work he was so impressed with how the car was handling he had to take me for a drive. Even I was impressed at how smooth it felt. Awesome job Firestone! read more

This store in the Thousand Oaks mall is a rip off, if you go in there as a woman expect to be exploited by their so called experts. My wife went in for an oil change and an issue with her front end, she was told it was going to cost $2535.00 to fix because her front end needed repair. The following day I took it to my mechanic in Thousand Oaks and the repairs were a total of 400.00 for two new rotors and labor. Firestone didn't ever check the brakes or rotors, rotors were bad and needed to be replaced, but instead tried to say it was a 2500.00 job that needed to be done ASAP. Just because they are the named repair shop doesn't mean they are always correct and I plan to report them to Firestone Corporate and BBB. It's a shame during Covid there are still mechanics trying to rip you off from a family that is barely making it on one income, they should be ashamed. read more

I would rather not even give this sorry excuse of an automotive repair shop one star!! Why? It is a dishonestly run shop. We were told that a tire we had a nail in, was a complete loss, and could not be repaired because it had some rapid "fix a flat" solution in it. The Manager, Daniel, did his best to convince of this. Knowing he was completely wrong, I took the vehicle to The Tire Man and what a real trustworthy shop that is!!! Said it's no problem and they immediately fixed it. I read the three comments of people that came to this Firestone shop at the oaks mall to fix a tire, and I end up with the same results, they told me, that the tire can't be fixed and I have to replace all four tires in my car. I also Can't drive on my spare tire because it's over 10 years old. I drove to other two tire dealers and they told me that the people in Firestone are trying to rip me off, and there's no need to replace all four tires, I'm still driving on these tires and all is OK. I've been going to Firestone for years, even back when I lived in CT, for my oil changes at a convenient $25. This location is one that is close-by my house, and I also enjoy that they are in the parking lot of the TO mall. I can drop off my car and walk around the mall to kill time while I wait. Hillcrest, Thousand Oak Location: These guys are crooks!! I was taking my work truck to the location on Hillcrest Dr, Thousand Oaks for regular maintenance, tires, etc. After taking it there for new tires I noticed a random clicking / movement noise when I would brake and take off - it sounded like something losses with the front tire - I took it back there to have them check it out - they told me I had a broken motor mount and of course gave me a ridiculous estimate to repair - my truck was perfectly fine until it left their shop - of course they denied any wrong doing - I ended up taking it to my normal mechanic to get fixed for cheaper price - I wrote it off as bad luck since I couldn't really prove they messed up my truck. Here's the reason I'm spending my time writing a review - because the same thing happened to my wife's jeep when she took it in for a basic oil change - she left their shop the jeep was idling really rough and making strong vibrations - again I had her take to my normal mechanic and he said the motor mounts were broken - her jeep was running fine until she took it to these guys. To summarize that was two broken motor mounts on two separate vehicles - both vehicles are 2017 models - motor mounts don't just break like that on newer vehicles - that comes after a wreck or years of weather damage / rusting - I think they are purposely lifting the vehicle motors with the hydraulic lift causing the motor mounts to break so they can get more money to repair - it's a big scam over there - stay away from these clowns!! Arneill, Camarillo Location My son had a bad experience at the Firestone on Arneil in Camarillo. He has an early 2000's BMW - we knew BMW's rehire special service so he called ahead of time to ensure they could do an oil change for his car - they confirmed that they could - they broke the oil cap and had to have another guy more familiar with BMW's to come fix it - they had to keep his car another day - then they tried to make him pay for fixing their mistake - a routine oil change turned into a two day circus - the worse part is not long after he took it there, he noticed a ticking noise that wasn't there before - we took to regular BMW Mechanic and he said the oil was bad and had metal in it - in fact the mechanic said they probably never even changed the oil - luckily it didn't overheat and destroy his engine. Needed new tires Friday morning after all the rain and feeling the sliding. Kayko was the rep inside who helped me out. He was quick and very customer service friendly. He made sure to get my vehicle worked on and get Me out and back to a meeting. I came in a couple weeks ago to get an oil change with my check engine light on. They read the code and said I had an oil leak. Okay no big deal, they still changed my oil (even with a leak? I don't know I'm not an expert but whatever I paid for it) they told me to fix the leak I should go get my engine bay cleaned and detailed. Okay cool 150-200$ to get it cleaned.....went somewhere else to get a quote on the oil leak before I went back and guess what ....no oil leak. Magically I didn't have an oil leak a month later and the check engine did not have a code. Weird. So I got the engine bay cleaned for no real reason. Would they have told me I had an oil leak and charged me for one of I went back? The world may never know read more

I got a new catalytic converter here during college right before the lockdown in 2020. I chose this location because it was across from my work so I could easily just get my car after my shift when it was ready instead of have my roommates drive me. Everything seemed ok for the next two years until I had to get my car smogged last Fall and it wasn't passing the test. We went to 6 different smog places and it still wasn't passing so I called to ask about the catalytic converter because 3 of the places said that it was the wrong catalytic converter for my car. While the other places just had trouble reading the numbers on the catalytic converter. I had called this location about it 3 times about my situation and they tried to convince me it was the right catalytic converter for my car because the warehouse wouldn't have sold it to them and that they knew a place in Camarillo that would smog my car and it would probably pass. Which just sounded sketchy and shady. This was an old, run down car that was still running decently but it was getting to the point where eventually things were breaking down. They also told me that my catalytic converter was still under warranty but not the labor and there was a chance they probably won't honor the warranty on the catalytic converter if it's fully functioning. I no longer live in this area so it would not be worth gambling my time and money for them to take the wrong catalytic converter out of my car just to possibly be denied a new one. Especially when I'd have to factor costs for Ubers to work/home and to this location. This was an incredibly expensive fix the first time and my dad and I talked about how we wanted that to be the last big expense we put on that car when we got it fixed in 2019. We ended up junking the car that was still perfectly fine to drive because it wasn't worth spending more money on something that should've been done correctly the first time and just so happened to be mislooked by a previous smog test. Unhelpful and not very accommodating. I felt like I wasn't being listened to because they kept on assuming I still lived out there when I mentioned multiple times I didn't. read more

LADIES BEWARE!!! This place will try to take advantage of you if you need assistance. I had my car towed to this Firestone at 8am Wednesday 10/24/18 after my car stalled on me. I could have totally driven the 6 miles to the Firestone because it started up just fine again, but I wanted to make sure it was safe. My car had made a strange noise before it stalled. I take it in and they tell me it was an alternator problem after running a test (A test they later can't prove was done, but I'll get to that shortly). They told me my car would be done that night and that they could set me up with enterprise for my rental. The alternator and labor totaled to over $700, but it needed to be done. They even had me pay for my own rental and when I called to ask another Firestone about that, (One that I've trusted my car with for years) they, told me Firestone has partnership with enterprise and I shouldn't have come out of pocket for the rental. I pick my car up 10 minutes for closing. The guy says the sound I was hearing was going and that my car was all set. He gave me the keys and locked the door behind me. Before I could get to the main Street, the sound was louder than ever before, and my car was now stopping on me at every light and what's worst is that there is now a check engine light on. I immediately call them first thing in the morning and I was told to bring my car back. I take my car back and this time they decide they are paying for my rental after I mention to them that I call my home Firestone and told them of my knowledge of the company paying for the rental while my car is in their possession. Anyways it turns out my alternator wasn't bad at all and I had to argue for 3 days for them to give me my money back. At this time there are now telling me my car is inoperable and that I need a new transmission but they don't perform that type of labor. I seek help from a lawyer because I was able to drive my car in but now I can't drive my car out and they are saying it's nothing they can do. After getting legal advice, I return here on Monday 10/29/2018 to ask for the test results of the test they had performed on my car that stated it was a alternator problem and no such results exist. The employee didn't have access to the computer but located the files from cars that day. He was able to show me what the test result would look like from other customer cars, but my results were missing. He said he would have the manager contact me with it in the morning. Now it's 10/30/2018 and the manager calls me and says they misdiagnosed the car. I asked if they were going to take ownership of the damage to my car and he said no. I explained to him that I drove my car in, you all worked on it, there's is now no proof of what you did to my car and no it's not drivable. He said he would email me the tests of the test and call me back. That was at 10am. He doesn't call me back until closing just to say that there are no records and that he apologizes but I need to return the rental car because this is the last day they would be paying for it. That he would file a claim and bring a 3rd party tech in to diagnose my car to see if they were at fault. Then and only then would he continue to pay for my rental. So I'm going to be without a car. If any lady has also had this issue or feeling like you were taken advantage of by this Firestone or had unnecessary expenses and other damage to your car than when you went in, feel free to message me, I would like to build a case for us all with a team of lawyers. UPDATE.... 11/04/2018 I still do not have my car and I still don't know what happened. Firestone has my car and when I called about it, they told me they were still waiting for the 3rd party tech to come and check it out. This was on Wednesday 10/31/2018 and I have heard nothing since. I was told I would get a phone call when they know something, so I guess I'm playing the waiting game. In the meantime, the manager there did say he would continue to pay for my rental so that I could continue to go to work and school while they have my car. That was nice of him read more

I have all of my vehicles serviced here since around 2009 (maybe earlier but I don't recall). I've always had good experience and service from this location. I've been to other locations but I like this one because of the customer service and convenience. Maybe I'm just lucky that way because I've read some of the bad reviews from other yelpers, but I still choose to come to this location. It's always busy on the weekends but I usually plan on leaving my car with them for the day and do other errands with my husband. Since it's next to The Oaks Mall, sometimes I go there to do errands or kill time. There's plenty of restaurants/eateries and shops to occupy my time. If I want to avoid the busy weekend, I try to go in during the weekdays, before 12pm. SERVICE They take care of what I need when I take my vehicles in. If it needs something, they do a printout and I take that with me to do comparison shopping to other places. 50% of the time, they're cheaper and closer to my home so I come back to them. They also price match, so when I find a coupon for an oil change that is cheaper than them, they'll match it for me. I prefer it that way because they have the history on all of my vehicles. If I need something major, I go to a mechanic that I know that does a very good job for cheap (he's located in the Valley). CUSTOMER SERVICE I never had a problem at this location. Everyone has been professional and nice, that's why I come back. When they give me an ETA on when my vehicle will be done, it's pretty close to what they quoted me. If they're running late (sometimes they finish early) or ask if I want to add an extra service because they think it's important, they'll call me. FACILITY This location is always very clean, including the bathroom. Since they also sell tires, inside the store always smells like rubber but it doesn't bother me. There's a waiting area with plenty of seating for adults and children, magazines, flat screen tv, and coffee/water for the customers. There are large windows so you can see outside and also large windows located at the garage where you can watch the mechanics work on vehicles. PARKING They're located next to The Oaks Mall so there's plenty of free parking. Adam Adam Adam! I was here today at Firestone to take care of an alignment issue. I have Firestone lifetime alignment for my SUV. Unfortunately, the problem was not resolved from my previous visit, so I brought it back. About 30 minutes after my appointment time, Adam came out to take me for a test drive. In fact, he said that he had been the one to work on my car previously and was determined to get to the bottom of the issue. He had thought it was taken care of and stood by his work. It turns out, we were both right. For the test drive, the car was fine on surface streets (which is how they had tested the care previously), but I asked him to take the freeway and he was able to see what I was seeing as the car began to pull in one direction. Professional. Courteous. Respectful. Anyone could have easily shooed me away, but he didn't. Nor was he patronizing, something I am sure people feel when visiting a service professional. When I go back there, I will have to see him again! There is a downside (isn't there always?). See, the problem is this: his customer service and servicing my SUV was beyond was I expected. Beyond. Which is sad, because stellar service is rare. So now, Adam has set the bar pretty high. And I am pretty sure I will expect the same level of integrity and kindness everywhere I go. I had a flat and barely made it to their location. When they finally opened they told me they didn't have the tire and I had to go to their other location to get my tire replaced. They saw that my tire was not good and they just put air in it and made this problem go away instead of having some one deliver that tire from their other location a mile away. Last year I brought my vehicle in for an alignment, and I decided to purchase the LIFETIME alignment. So here I am over a year later. I made a 2pm appointment for the alignment and a brake inspection. I dropped off my vehicle and was told it would take less than an hour for the work to be done. I decided to pass time by walking around the Oaks Mall. I come back at 4pm and nothing had be been done to my vehicle. They finally take it in a little while later and come out to tell me that they did a visual inspection and my brakes need some work done. They told me I could come back on Monday so they could do all the work at one time. What a waste of my time. I'm not going to have my brakes done here but still have to come back to have the alignment done. I gave two stars for the the average customer service from employees on both visits. read more

Proceed with caution! 1) although we cant prove it, we believe that our gas gift card was taken from the center divider. 2) asked if there was a special for alignment, was told yes- $40 mail-in rebate. 3) after not getting the rebate form when we checked out, I went back the next day. 4) went back and asked for the form, was given it. As I walked out the door, I noticed the rebate expired the weekend before we had the service. Seriously, so at this point 2 people there had no clue when the rebate expired and lead me to believe I qualified. 5) spoke to the manager, was offered a $40 credit or oil change. These guys are so honest and hard-working (Ricardo is a great character) They fixed a HUGE issue for me. The situation was that America's Tires in Millbrae had recently changed my tires. I went back to SoCal the day after. I heard this clinking sound while accelerating (10mph - 20mph). I went to Firestone for a $10 examination because I thought my car itself was the issue. Upon the first examination, they knew exactly what was wrong. Something had gotten loose inside the back left tire. They didn't want to charge me to open it, so they recommended me to ask America's Tires. I asked America's Tires and the front desk AGREED. He also spun the tire by hand and heard something inside too. They took my car and you know what America's Tires in Thousand Oaks did? They switched my rear tires with the front. They asked me to spin the back-left tire by hand and I couldn't hear the clink anymore. I'm not sure if they were lazy or misheard, but they did not listen to me when I told them Firestone and their front desk worker agreed something was in the tire. The moment I drove off the lot, the clink started again somewhere else. It was real ridiculous at this point. I went back to Firestone and they did another examination for $10 to take care of it for me. They switched it to the front-left wheel and not a good job because the clinking sound DOUBLED. I'll show you what we found in the attached pictures. THANK YOU FIRESTONE FOR ACTUALLY DOING THE HARD WORK AND TAKING GOOD CARE OF ME. Firestone Complete Auto Care - Tires Near Me - Thousand Oaks, California

Parents took my moms car to the shop. They said it would take 30-45 minutes to replace the tires. They went for a walk around the local mall and when they came back 45 minutes later no one had even touched the car. My dad, who is bald, stepped outside to call me while my mom waited inside. One of the workers came in and asked "who's car is the black toyota?" His coworker replied "The guy outside with the bowling ball head." Obviously my mom was furious but didn't confront the workers. There was also a broken lug nut stud on the car. Firestone said something about having to replace and repair the wheel bearings to fix the stud, we declined their service and took it to another mechanic. He informed us that it was a simple fix that didn't have anything to do with the wheel bearings. We will never go back to firestone again. They are a horrible business that uses their good location in a mall to nickel and dime their customers. read more

I learned a great lesson: Do not hire a tire store to perform ANY work except for inslatting new tires. Firestone at The Oaks Mall performed a four wheel alignment. After leaving the store I noticed that the steering wheel was turned to the left (as though I was manking a left turn) while driving straight. I also found that the hood was not closed completely when I got home - this could have been a disaster if it had opened while I was on the freeway! My big compalint, however, is that the left rear tire showed as out of alingment on the final printout. As I was paying and getting ready to leave, the Firestone guy did not point this out or discuss it with me. I noticed that there was still an alignment issue, based on the final printout that I received, and I asked Fareed, the manager, about this. Farid said "oh yeah, you need a shim to correct the alignment on the back tire". They did not have the shim so I had to go back the following day. Well, when I returned the next day it was the right rear (not the left rear) tire that was out of alignment. Leads me to believe that they are completely incompetant or trying to pull one over on me! To make a long story short, I asked for, and received, a full refund for all alignment work that I had paid for and I will take my car to the Toyota dealer for a proper alignment. If you want you alignment done look somewhere else. One simple task was requested, to zero out the toe. Meaning having the toe read 0.00 instead of -0.08 or 0.06 etc on the printout sheet. But instead, the bare minimum was done. not a single corner is the same and the toe a front wheel actually went from 0.01 to -0.08...i mean seriously. How can you make someones toe more off and think it's a good alignment? But because the toe put the alignment into the bare minimum for being completed (seriously too, the most off the toe can be is +-0.08), they finished their work and claimed the car to be ready. On top of that, the "completed" work came with the steering wheel now slightly tilted to the left when driving straight and a slight pull to the right. read more
