The past few years have been hades on getting good people. My family uses Firestone because we know we can get help regardless our location in the states, (we travel by car quite a bit) In the past 4 years we have had several rather larger fixes accomplished. Two radiators, tires on 3 cars, fuel pump, and a few other things. We have always been treated with respect and honesty. While there have been a couple minor issues with specific individual "mechanics" not doing their job (I trained and worked as a mechanic for a bit, physically unable to do the work now sadly) overall the experience has been quite good! read more

These guys straight up lied to me. My normal tire place was closed on a Sunday and I had a flat that I wanted fixed right away so I could keep working. I walked in and told them I had a flat and used a tire repair sealant kit that came with the car. Without looking at the tire or anything, the guy at the desk instantly said the tire is ruined by the sealant and I need a new tire. I said that was the dumbest thing I've ever heard. He said something about the chemicals preventing a repair. I walked out and went home to research this and research told me this guy was lying. I took my car to my normal tire place the next day for an expert, trusted opinion and they fixed the tire with zero issues and I've been driving on it ever since. Had something in my tire making a slow leak. Brand new tires from Walmart with road hazard coverage. Good deal right? Well the speedway/kolb store tire center closed because of the toilet paper fire incident of January 2022. speedway Walmart says "go to el con walmart store to get tire fixed"...well there's no tire center at that store! But like a shining star there's the Firestone store in the same parking lot. It's 5 pm tire is at 19psi. Firestone say's "no problem, we'll fix you up even if it makes us a little late". Poor quality and effort. my family member who doesn't know much about vehicles brought their car in with a severe oil leak. a different firestone was the last shop to service the vehicle by doing an oil change. The tech took an hour to look at the car, was told many things about the car and his answer about the oil leak is that it was so severe that he " couldn't see where the leak was" and he told my family member that they need to take the car somewhere else to get the engine cleaned so they can find the leak. my family member brought the car to a Jiffy Lube to get a second opinion. All it ended up being was the oil filter being loose. i called the store back to let them know how simple the fix was and that i was a little disappointed with service and the technician/ service advisor's response was "okay thankyou for calling" . do not trust this location. take it to a smaller local shop who cares more about you as a customer read more

I arrived unannounced on Sunday morning with a severely flat tire. There were already a handful of people waiting. I was quoted $20 for a patch job on the tire but I knew it was too far gone for that. I waited about 20 minutes before they saw my car. Little tangent from my tire experience: the building is desperately dirty, and rundown. I noted dust and loads of dead bugs on the window ledges. There were no cups for the water cooler, which was hidden away from the coffee section. There was no hand soap in the bathroom either. The section to wait was tiny, and nailed down. I didn't want to sit next to a guy talking loudly on the phone so I sat on the curb outside. I was pretty upset about a flat tire and waiting was very hard for me because there were no other seats available. Also, I felt bad for the one guy running the show. Between walk-ins, the phone ringing, checking in with mechanics, checking in with customers and checking them out he was slammed! Not sure if it's normal to have one person in there? Back to the tire issue. Yes it was beyond repair. Yes, I had to buy a new tire. Normally I go to Discount but they're closed Sundays. The tire itself was only $129 but then come additional fees coming to a grand total of $197. I have absolutely no idea what the road hazard protection fee was, for 18.85 but that seems a bit high? I've never seen anything like it before. I was too upset from the whole ordeal to ask questions. I just needed my car and to go. I was only there for about an hour but as mentioned above, not a pleasant place to wait. I'm happy the we're open on a Sunday, I'm happy about the rather quick tire change, but the experience left me a bit underwhelmed. 3.5 experience. read more

Parents avoid this place for your college kids car repair. This place is bad new and takes advantage of college kids who don't know anything about cars. My daughter brought in her car for a dead battery. The staff was rude and charged $199 for a standard car battery plus $45 install. I called and they said that's the price period. You can get the same battery at autozone for around $140 installed. Firestone couldn't get to the car right away so my daughter left it. When she went to get it much later, their computer was down and they couldn't charge her. They let her take the car. I called the next day to pay and they refused to let me pay over the phone. The insisted my daughter come back the next day and pay in person. She has a full day of classes and had to miss a class to come in. We paid and I received an email survey from Firestone. I just listed my experience how it happened. I get a phone call from Fred the Firestone store manager. Fred starts arguing with me saying "dude you don't know the cost of batteries". I said I'm in the equipment business and know. They probably only offer a higher end battery which was unnecessary. I ended the call since the arguing wasn't going anywhere. This location is terrible. Overall I think the Firestone companion is a good company and haven't used them for 10yrs now. But the majority of that time was in Washington state. I keep trying to give this location a chance but every time I go it makes me hate firestone more and more. The service takes way longer than any other Firestone I've been to. Even if you make an appointment it basically means nothing. The absolute worse thing about this location is thE customer service. The main front desk man is one of the rudest people I've ever met. He's condescending, short, never explains anything. Whenever I interact with him I feel terrible afterwards and like I was just mentally beaten up. As a master automotive mechanic of 35 years, it's very hard for another repair shop to impress me with their service. I left my girlfriends house at 1 pm this last Sunday afternoon in Tucson for a drive back to Phoenix where I live. 2 miles from her house I hit a large object in the road on Grant and instantly blew out my right front tire. My car has run flat tires and does not come equipped with a spare. Instantly I thought I was screwed. I was most likely stuck in Tucson for the night and would need to make a dreaded phone call to my boss in Phoenix...I can't make it to work tomorrow...I started to google who was open and see what skim possibility of a shop that has my tire in stock. I was not optimistic. On a Sunday afternoon it is difficult to find a repair shop open. My first call was to Horacio at Firestone because my tires were Bridgestone, maybe there was a chance I would not be stuck in Tucson until a tire could be found. They were within a mile of my "incident". Horacio was absolutely great. While they did not have the specific run flat tire in stock that matched my Bridgestone tires, he was able to immediately acquire me a quality standard tire to get me home the same day, saving me a huge hassle. I could not ask for more being such short notice. Not only did I get a tire at a good price, they saw my frustration as I had a couple of house pets stuck with me and worked very hard to get me in and get me out. They mechanic (I'm sorry I did not get his name) was courteous, professional and very quick. He also reset my TPMS light so I did not have to stare at it all the way back to Phoenix. From time of blowout until time I got back on the road? Less than two hours....awesome! This is the second time I have tried to get an alignment for my Tacoma at this Firestone location. The first time was a disaster, with the shop not sure if they could even perform the work with their equipment, not having the appropriate tech, the truck being lifted, etc. etc. etc. I felt that I received excuse after excuse but they went ahead and put it on the rack. Once the alignment was complete (two hours later) I received no report with the final specs. I was also told that lifetime alignment wasn't available for lifted vehicles. WHAT?! Please show me on the website where this is called out. Ultimately, the alignment I got was crap. The truck actually drove worse than when I brought it in. Call me a glutton for punishment but finding myself in need of another alignment with a short timeline before an extended road trip, I decided to give Firestone another shot. I hoped that something had changed in the two plus years since my first visit. Well, this appointment was a complete waste of my time also. Fred, possibly the worst front end manager of all time (literally, the personality of an earthworm), proceeded to tell me that due to Toyota's stability control software he could not align the vehicle. He stated liability concerns without the ability to do some sort of calibration. Uhhh - you aligned the truck before and didn't mention anything about this. I looked it up and yes, this is a real thing on Tacomas with VSC and the Steering Angle Sensor, but again, Firestone needs to mention this on the website so you don't make an appointment if it can't be worked on and waste everyone's time. For a second time, I leave the shop feeling slighted with no apology coming from the business and the only suggestion offered is to "take it to the dealer." Yeah, take it to the dealer for an alignment. Spectacular advice, Fred. This place needs to get it's sh*t together. Apparently people are fine with the other locations, but as it stands, I wouldn't take any of my vehicles to this Firestone even if it was just to have the wipers changed out. read more

Walked into this Firestone to ask for help loosening my oil drain plug so I could perform my own oil change. This was after going to Meineke on Oracle Rd for prior service, they tightened the plug to the point where it could not be removed without a torque wrench. They took my car and loosened it up within minutes and gave me back my vehicle free of charge. Amazing selfless service and will definitely be bringing my vehicle here for all future maintenance. read more

Had my car towed here because someone slashed one of my tires on my vehicle. It was such an unfortunate situation to have to deal with. But luckily I had emergency road side service and they towed my vehicle out to this Firestone since it was one of the few stores that were open that handled tires. I called out ahead because to make sure I could get it done today. They were super friendly and said they could get tires on the vehicle before the end of the day. When I got my vehicle towed they looked at the tire and stated it was slashed. So they gave me a few options for my vehicle. I decided to just get all new tires for my vehicle and go from there. Since I'll have four tires with all different tread and I didn't want issues in the future. They gave me a great deal with my tires. Especially since I had my Firestone credit card which gave me a discount and a good deal for the four tires. Thankfully they helped save me from having to have to deal with a situation on getting to work without a car. They made it easy and seamless to get back on the road. read more

I am so sad to have to write this review, as I have loved this location for the past 7 years. I recently took one of my cars into this location to receive an oil change. The employee that was working the front end was horribly rude. The way he spoke to myself and others customers with unprofessional. I've never been to a Firestone but had to bring my vehicle to one as they were the only place that had my tires (brand & size) in stock. I made an appointment on-line at 4pm & they promptly took me back with NO waiting. The technicians were friendly & helped me look under my car, explained some stuff to me. The cashier was courteous & able to multitask the few people waiting & the phone ringing. Pulled into Walmart to grab a few things and came out to my tire FLAT! Drove over to Firestone hoping they would tell me it just needed air but I needed a whole new tire :( the nice guy told me I could wait 2 hours and he could find some time to change my tire as all their appointments showed up, but I had to go to work so when I was sitting in my car calling my dad wondering what to do, the nice man came out and said he could change my tire right now!! Overall they seem trustworthy. Pretty low key, low pressure. They are helpful and knowledgeable. Only issue i had was when i got my new tires, they took off my nicer valve caps and put standard ones on there. Didn't notice until home. My wife purchased an Allstate battery for her 2011 Jeep Liberty here two years ago. The battery died today and she took a trip to this establishment to use the warranty and get a new one. She was advised that the warranty had expired and they would give her a discount for a new battery. Everything was fine up to that point until they decided to charge my wife 50 dollars for replacing the battery. 50 dollars!! For removing two screws. This is insane . This place will rip you off any way they can. I highly recommend visiting other shops and using this place as a last resort or they will charge you 50 dollars for removing two screws on your battery.... read more

Firestone in Santa Fe fixed my air conditioning. The Freon leaked out after returning to Tucson, so I took it to this Firestone on Broadway for warranty. I took it in three times and three times said they fixed it. The last time they said it was working perfectly, and they couldn't find a problem. I go to the car and it was blowing hot air. They wouldn't even come out to look at it. After fighting with them for half and an hour, I took the car to AZ Auto refrigeration, and they fixed it. I had them hold it for three days, so they could check it, and they did. Firestone on Broadway was giving me fits about refunding my money. They wanted me to file a claim with corporate. I used to sing the praises on this place but no more. Today I went in for new breaks and had an appointment; I was early and they took it in early but still it took 3 hours. What? 3 hours? It took more than 30 minutes just to get the estimate then I was told 1 hour to complete the job. AND of course it wasn't just the breaks but rotors and some bolt for the caliper over $300. They didn't offer up any updates on the progress I had to ask several times what the hold up was; I could visibly see that no one was working on my car. In the meantime another disappointed customer came into the shop complaining about the work they did on his car this morning and they gave him ~$20 back. They did give me a $25 discount (a coupon I didn't know of) due to the wait; big deal. I won't ever go back; a sad day for me. Update 4/1/2016: First, after writing this review I realized that in all that time that I waited I was never given the status on my tires which I asked for when I brought the car in. The girl that was running the desk assured me that they would check them and all my fluids; no status on fluids either. Secondly, to the Firestone rep who commented you're right my time is valuable but so are reviews so I will keep this public. I'm certain the folks you have working for you at this location can give you all my information. Lastly, and I'm just sick about it, I have to take my car back in because it's making a strange noise that sounds much like a sick cow. My wife purchased tires previously thinking that firestone is some elite garage with quality tires I was hesitant about their prices but I went with it. The tires ended up cracking found out during a routine tire rotation at a competitor's. I went to Firestone to purchase a tire on an emergency basis (wires were showing through). Everything was done quickly and properly. Here's the thing, though. Mount and balance was $18.00 (Discount Tires charges $16.00). Valve stem was $3.00 (No charge at Discount Tire). Tire disposal fee was $3.50 ($2.50 at Discount Tire). Shop supplies are $1.08 per tire at Firestone. What could that possibly be referring to? Air in the tire, obviously! Discount Tire gives you air for free. I recently purchased this car, and since the tires are kind of hidden under the wheel wells, I didn't even realize the other three tires were about to blow, too. I had no choice but to replace them. But, by not returning to Firestone, I saved $22.41. If I had money to blow, I would have just sent my chauffeur to deal with all this. Obviously, I don't have that extra money. So, $7.47 per tire is a significant enough savings for the exact same quality tire and services to make me avoid Firestone in the future. read more

It's a 1998 Dodge with a V8 that threatens to explode in high heat, but thanks to the dedication of the Firestone team, we had no road problems. The experience was so awful,it was overwhelming. The discussion over what I agree to pay was stressful. The Service Advisor would talk over me. He plumped up my bill with charges like replacing my wiper blades, I refused. He added replacing my air filter, I refused. He added replacing my spark plugs, again I refused. I stated I had all that work completed. I asked many questions about the main reason of why the engine check light was on. He added flushing the radiator, I refused stating I just did that and I gave him the date. He stated it is recommended every 6 months. Who flushes their radiator every 6 months? I read on HonestMechanic.com that it can be damaging because the process loosens the dirt, rust and grime on the inside of the radiator, then this gunk circulates through the radiator coils and a person finds themselves buying a new radiator. I asked for discussion of prices for the work I authorized again he argued and talked over me. STAY AWAY. RENE WAS THE SERVICE ADVISOR THAT HANDLED MY WORK ORDER. read more

I went to Discount Tire earlier in the day, where they overfilled them to 38psi (a quick call to my car-smart father confirmed this was way too high for the 32/35 recommendation in the door). I will start by saying that I have used this particular Firestone for many years. But that has come to an end. My daughter took her car in to be fixed because it was turning off on her. The "A" mechanic, and I use that term lightly supposedly fixed her car to the tune of $830.00. Well 2 days later it continued to turn off. Needless to say she still had the same issue. I called said Firestone and I told them we would bring it back on Sat. Never being told that the "A" mechanic wouldn't be their. So being that my daughter lives in Scottsdale, she was going to have to take it to the Firestone there. Saul and Rene wished her well on her drive back to Scottsdale with no further concern. Fast forward, it turns off again before leaving town, so I call said Firestone and ask if we can take it to another location in Tucson. They gave me the Grant and First location. And boy was that a Godsend. Christian, Phil and the amazing "A" mechanic took amazing care of us. Christian went above and beyond the call of duty. Turns out the El Con location only did half the job and that is why the problem continued. I will NEVER use the El Con location again. They need to work on their customer skills issues along with properly fixing cars. My late husband who was an ace mechanic is probably flipping in his grave over the way we were treated by the El Con location..... read more

I originally go to the Firestone located on Speedway & Pantano, but they had a wait of 2 hours & the guy wasn't even sure then if my car could get a simple oil change. I usually come here because a childhood friend works there but he wasn't there that day. I also call ahead a few days prior to make an appt, this time I didn't. So my bad, I guess lol. So, I decided to come to this location instead. I called to make sure they weren't busy, and they welcomed me to stop by because they were able to take me in as soon as I got there... and they did. My son and I got there and the wait was short and painful. If you don't want to wait in their lobby, you can walk to El Con shopping centers and walk around to do some shopping. But the lobby in the summer was super cool and they had a TV you could entertain yourself with. I will be coming back for sure again. read more

My son's vehicle broke down 2 miles outside of Tucson. Towed the vehicle to firestone. Although they did not have a qualified technician on site at the time (Sunday) they promised a diagnostic at the earliest, and sourced the problem as a transmission issue which was likely covered by warranty. I paid for a lifetime alignment when I bought 4 new tires for $700 about a year ago. I went in for an alignment and asked how long it would take they said 45 minutes. I told them I would wait. I also asked them to put on new wiper blades. I waited for 90 minutes and they charged me $60 for the wiper blades! I was sitting there the whole time and they did not consult with me about cost of the wiper blades and I had to ask them what was taking so long. Very poor customer service. read more

They have restored my trust in mechanics and I will continue to bring my car into them for every service I need that they provide. I was on the verge of just towing my car to scrap yard as I was having problems starting it, not wanting to put anymore money in it and they saved me alot of money by being honest and even fixed my windshield wipers for free! I hadn't had working wipers for a year, having another mechanic quote me $400. The mechanic at firestone noticed they didn't work and I told him why i didn't have it fixed. He identified it was a 5-10 dollar part and the not the wiper motor. He did the labor for free. Wow! read more

I have been going to this Firestone for a few years now and couldn't be happier. Ervin knows me and knows my cars well, and has made concerted efforts to locate parts that can be hard to find. He is extremely trustworthy. The work is always done well and thoroughly, and in the event of rare post-repair minor issues, they make it right. They never perform or suggest unnecessary repairs, nor do they overinflate prices. They are, however, kind enough to suggest future potential repairs that they notice.The prices are reasonable and usually come in less than I expect. My cars are a little older, and must be depended on daily. With the help of this Firestone, they both stay on the road and get me where I need to go. Sometimes when they are busy, wait times can be a little longer, but even complex repairs have only taken an average of a day or two. Often I can wait for the work to be done and it is completed within an hour. For anyone in Tucson, especially midtown, I highly suggest utilizing the services of this Firestone. read more
