While many businesses and people are struggling in Covid times it should not mean that some try to take advantage of people but this appears to be what happens at this firestone location.  My 80 year old mother took her Lexus (42k miles) in for a check of a tire because a light showed low pressure and she had a nail in her tire.  What transpired after the tire being diagnosed was her leaving Firestone and paying an additional $1400 in recommendations by the sales person. I called this location and speak with the GM about the situation and he quickly put the Store Manager on the phone.  The rest of the discussion was him trying to justify the repairs and that they did everything by the book and asked if she would like the work done.  To summarize, they communicated that based on the age and mileage that multiple items required attention, which my mom agreed to because in the spur of the moment she did not know the vehicle history. So this location rather than suggesting she take a moment and/or a list of suggestions and see if they had ever be done before doing the work, in my opinion took advantage of the situation and recommended multiple items be completed right then. So after talking with my mom about her experience in good conscious I cannot suggest a visit to this location. For the record the Store Manager was very agitated that I even questioned them on their approach and said she could have said no at any time.....so I guess in his opinion that makes the approach justified. read more

Ok just let me gain my composure....Wheaton Firestone, Butterfield Rd Manager Ken I am truly disappointed in the service I have received first thing I ordered 4 recommended Primewell tires rec'd a call saying the tires were delivered I can come in for installation it would take about 90 minutes I arrived shortly after then waas told it will take 3 hours I clearly told the Manager during our initial conversation I would be waiting because I did not have anyone to pick me up, fast forward after installation I was told I need to get alignment with new tires for $70 when I was checking out I was informed the alignment is $90 this I disputed and price went back to $70... Oh just let me backup when I question the tire size I was told the tires on the truck was too big 285/70R16 that the correct size would be 265/70R16 he denied he told me such, he was adamant about he told me 235 until I showed him the work order he completed, he still questioned his paper work he physically check the tire.... I was correct he never apologized, just nonchalantly proceeded. In the beginning I was told brakes are checked free of charge after service was completed I left for a short test drive minutes into the drive I let the steering wheel go and the vehicle immediately went right into the other lane returned back to shop mechanic took the vehicle out for test comes back he didn't see anything wrong I ask to ride Oh! then he sees the problem now it's the rotors that's warped read more

This place is awesome!! I just got my tires replaced and alignment done, it was done very quickly. The staff was very professional and were very nice. I found the pricing to be very fair compared to other places I have been. I will always go to this location because I found the employee Nar to be very helpful and explained the repairs and concerns in a way I could understand. read more

Needless to say if I could give less then 1 star I would. I have been a loyal firestone customer for FIFTEEN years. I've brought numerous tires, oil changes, tire rotations, alignments etc, from the location on Ogden Rd in Lisle. After my wife and I moved we opted for a closer location; the store in Wheaton. Problem number ONE; we made an online appointment which was confirmed by the system for 8am. We even dropped the car off the night before so they could have it right when the opened. Problem number TWO; when my wife called to confirm they had her down for a free break inspection which was agreed to with a staff number over the phone the day before they employee had NO IDEA what we were talking about. Problem number THREE; when we finally called at 10am to see the status of her vehicle (AS NO UPDATES WERE EVER PROVIDED BY FIRESTONE0 it wasn't complete. Mind you we only needed an oil change, tire rotation, wheel alignment which the system should show we have lifetime alignment through FIRESTONE! We asked about the alignment over the phone and he said we didn't request one but it would be another 10min to do so. We arrived at firestone 10min later. When asked about the alignment the clerk Mike said we didn't request one. I promptly showed him the envelope we dropped the key off in had it checked as did the online order email. I would assume that when you look at the vehicle maintenance record you would see the lifetime alignment service. Problem number FOUR! They took the pouch all the wheel tools are in to get to the wheel lock. When we got home and opened the trunk not only had they just left the tools laying on all of our stuff they failed to put the lock back in the pouch. Brought a flat tire in yesterday, covered under the Road Hazard Warranty and was told come in at 8 AM Sunday and tire would be put back on. Needless to say when I went back was told I would have to leave the car and it would be a few hours. So with snow on the ground I installed my tire in their parking lot all the while Ken moved a couple of cars in and out in the amount of time they could have put the tire on. Needless to say Firestone you lost the business on all 3 of our cars and anyone who asks me about the Wheaton location. read more

I am so bummed about the other 2 reviews, I have had nothing but a positive experience here! I used to go to the branch at Yorktown and after they closed, I went to the Downer's Grove location and was basically turned away (on a friday night) because they said that they were to busy and I needed to make an appointment and the first that they had available was Sunday. This has NEVER happened at the Wheaton location. The whole crew is always helpful in getting me the best deal - I always feel like I am getting stellar, honest service. I even took my dog with this past Saturday and Jim had doggie treats for Max! I wish I knew all of the employees by name.. however Jim, Hans and Ken are 3 terrific guys of a crew that make me feel like I am getting the best care. read more

I started going to this shop when I was still in high school with my Chevy Blazer. The management was rude and short with me. Because I was young and not lMr. Know it all" about cars they tried to take advantage of me and told me everything was wrong with my car. They consistently put me down and made me feel stupid for asking any questions! I stopped going there all together! Just recently I started to go there again after about 6 years to just get my one tire filled up because it's free and close to my house. I'd say I've been there 3 times now in the last month in a half for my tire fill ups. The two first times I was helped by two different mechanics who were both great guys and helped me out with no issues. Today though I went there to get my tired filled again and got what I think is one of their managers because he has been there for a while and was there when I used to take my Chevy there. Right off the bat he was rude and short with me. I simply told him right away I think my tire sensor went off again because of the back right tire. He replied with a short and rude remark, "that's why you're here." Then I asked him about a whistling sound coming from my front left tire well that only makes a sound when I'm driving.. he replied once again with a very rude and short reply, "get your brakes checked." I KNOW DAMN WELL IT'S NOT MY BRAKES! And never said anything after he was done, just walked away. Like seriously f**k this place!! Nothing has changed at this location in the past 6 yeas!!!! Sorry for the foul language but seriously this place is horrible as far as management and customer service!!! read more

Very good place to work with. Never a problem and they are reasonably priced. Have had numerous tire replacements, brake work, alignment work. Be prepared to say "no" if they recommend additional services that you aren't comfortable with or wish to delay. They ALWAYS find something else they offer to work on. read more

They put $800 of parts on my car that I did not need and the quality of workmanship was so poor that it damaged my car and cost another $300 to repair at another service station. They obviously have been told by corporate to sell parts to customers that they do not need. Stay away! read more

Consistently attempt to add extra services that are not needed. You can get the same work done elsewhere. They heated up and banged on the tie rods for my mini cooper because they thought they were bent but when I took it to the dealer they confirmed the tie rods were fine and said that the heating up of the tie rods likely reduced their life. Last time I had to use them they did not tighten the lug nuts on one of my tires and the wheel was nearly coming off before I stopped alongside the road and had to tighten them up myself. They are friendly though. read more

Where do I start... Jim, Mike and their staff were absolutely compassionate and understanding due to the circumstances that brought our car to them. To make a long story short, they fixed everything we needed to make our car safe again (after the previous shop didn't, which is why we ended up at Firestone). We took off headed home at 7:00 PM (when this store closes on Friday night) and we heard the same thumping noise at 60 MPH on the freeway. We called the store after 7:00 and Mike answered!! He drove to us to listen to the noise, called another tow truck, drove us home in his personal car and went back to the shop and inspected our car on the lift on his own time. That is the definition of customer support. Mike called the next day and explained what happened and what they had to do to fix the issue. Although the part that failed was not anything they replaced or modified, it was just simply connected to the part they replaced. They fixed it, test drove, aligned it again, test drove it again and put it through the paces (wink wink). If you need your car/vehicle serviced no matter where you are in the Chicago area, take it to them. You will be glad you did. Ask for Mike! Jim, you have a great shop full of talented people! i took my girlfriends car to this Firestone before we drove it out to Seattle where she was moving to. things went fine for the most part, i only heard what i expected as problems. however the quote was a lot higher than any other place i talked to for the same work. in fact i got it done for less than half what they quoted me at another shop. ANYWAYS after i got home, i got a call from Firestone. they told me the tech thinks he did not secure the hubcap properly and i should go take a quick check. well i walk outside and what do you know its gone, it had fallen off, and we are leaving for Seattle in a few hours. i called them and told them they said they would replace it. so i go to Seattle, where we are trying to sell the car, which looks just a tiny bit shitty because of the stupid hubcap. it really looks worse as a whole because of it. i get back to wheaton and call Firestone. they said the person they need to talk to isn't there and they will call me back, they took my number. wait days... call again, hear the same bullshit. wait days... its now been a month so i went back in today. the guy tells me he cant do anything without the car and the vin number. i ask how hes gonna fix their mistake. tells me i can get the info then they will give me the part so that i may ship it to her at my own expense... how gracious. i tell him, if there's a Firestone in Seattle can HE have them solve the problem. so he gives me a list of 5 Firestone's in Washington and says i can call them and figure it out myself. PERFECT! cause after they fucked up, i def want to spend all day calling and coordinating with a 3rd party across the country to try and fix what they screwed up. i had been going to this Firestone for years to buy tires, and even recommended it to people, but after seeing how careless, unprofessional, and irresponsible they are, i shutter to think of how many cars ive driven with tires that they had installed. its a scary thought to think that wheels of fast moving vehicles are installed by people who forget to lightly tap a hubcap on.and cant even put an ounce of effort into fixing their mistakes. oh also, no one EVEN ONCE apologized for this. WOW i know id get fired if i sucked at my job as much as these people do. 0 customer service 0 mechanical ability 0 responsibility 0 reliability there isn't one redeeming factor of this place. save yourself a headache and avoid it. i will be sure to post this on all the local car forums im a member of. read more

We had to have our car towed to this service station for repair when the vehicle would not start. After 4 hours we were called and told the alternator had to be replaced and the price including he tow was $428 I gave the go ahead that this was fine and made arrangements to come in and pay first thing in the next morning since I would not have a way to pick it up before they closed. 2 hours later I got another call that they just realized the battery and alternator would need to be replaced and that would cost another $580, I thought this was very strange that they did not diagnose this problem before now and also that all 3 of those things would go out at the same time. I asked them not to do any other work until I did some research and made some calls. I spoke with my father who does car repairs but was out of state and he said not to let them do anything he was going to call and question what was going on. We were told the battery warning light was on in the car and we were only getting 12% output charge. We still said not to do anything we would come get it the following day. When we picked it up the warning light was not on and startup was fine. My husband paid and later gave me the receipt which is when I saw the price had jumped from the quoted $428 to $528!! I took the car to another repair shop and asked them to check the battery and alternator for me and when they did it came back full charge and NO foreseeable need to replace either. We were not only lied to by this business to try to make unnecessary repairs but also cheated out of additional money. read more

BEWARE! I took my car for a simple oil change here. I have been using this location for years and years and if all you want is an oil change, then I guess it's okay....until they give you the two page list of things you need done which I normally disregard since my brother in law is a factory mechanic for the type of car I drive so I would only get it serviced by him anyway. Well this time I left my car overnight to get the early oil change. I received a call from Emily, the front desk girl to say my car was done, but I should call first. So when I called she told me that my car wouldn't even start and they had to tap the tank. I was shocked to hear this because I haven't had this happen to me ever. I asked her what they thought it was, and she replied that it was the fuel pump and the part was over $800. I told her I'd call her back. I told my husband and he was furious because I had a new fuel pump installed only one year ago. I called my brother in law and he said to bring it to him since he installed the last one. I picked up my car from firestone, and needless to say it started right up like it always has. So my BIL looked at it, ran all kinds of gauge tests, etc with proper equipment and nothing came up to be wrong. He was pissed and asked me for permission to report firestone to an organization where they log scams. I agreed. He asked me to call firestone and find out if they ran the same tests he did. I called Emily back and she told me they don't have that type of equipment to run those tests. I asked how they came to the conclusion. She got defensive and told me they have a top certified mechanic that made the call. I said...he guessed..? She said he is very experienced so it was a very educated guess. I hung up. This Firestone on Butterfield are SCAM ARTISTS .....(If you notice all my other reviews are positive)........I went in right before xmas to get a slow leak in my tire fixed. I went here because the location was very convenient. (Normally, I take my car into the Honda Dealership to get it serviced.) About 45 minutes later I get a phone call back from Jim that my tire is not fixable, and that I need a new tire because the tread is low. I asked if he could just put the tire back on since it's a slow leak. (My husband could fix the tire himself then.) Jim (I also notice he is mentioned in another review) told me it was illegal for him to put the tire back on and that it was against safety regulations. He said I could not leave the place with my old tire. I could either buy a new tire or put on the spare. (So he was holding my tire for ransom then????) Miraculously, after I had my husband call back, Jim said there was a miscommunication and he could either put on the spare or the old tire back on the car. Now my car is not driving smooth......I thought maybe this place was horrible service because I was female, but looking at the other yelp reviews, it seems the service at Firestone is just plain horrible. After confronting them face to face, they did put the tire back on and refund my money. However, they denied everything that was said to me in the original phone conversation. I should have looked at the other yelp reviews before going here, but I thought a simple tire repair would be somethinig that Firestone coud handle. The two times I purchased tires from here I had to deal with the same ornery, unhygienic old man. The last time I went there, he had told me that when my mom was in earlier in the week, she had told him I would be coming in later and needed two tires for my Mazda. When I arrived confused about the second tire he became irritated and insisted that i needed it, most likely because he had already ordered it. I left feeling like I was ripped off, especially since when I talked to my mother later she had only mentioned the one tire to the salesman. They had also recommended 700 dollars of service to be done. I asked a friend who manages a service department at a dealership nearby, and he said the recommended work was all unnecessary and ridiculous to suggest. Anywho, I will not be going back, although my parents have been getting their tires from the location for quite some time and have not had problems. read more

I came in for an oil change, Ken informed me the service tech found a screw in a tire and can't be repaired it must be replaced. My tire had to be special ordered so I decided to go elsewhere for replacement. Another tire company looked at tire, removed screw by hand and examined tire, nothing wrong with tire, replacement/repair not needed. Seamed Firestone tech didn't examine tire properly, I would have ended up replacing tire had I stayed with Firestone. I'm questioning whether the tech did this on purpose to sell a new tire? Also, tech lost my lug nuts covers to one tire. I called Ken, he was rather abrupt and bothered that I was asking for the covers snd said come in show me what your talking about and we'll replace them. I came in days later and Emily was in yhe office. She was very respectful and attentive. Did order new lug nut covers for me. Another complaint is I paid for a tire rotation, but because Firestone placed the emergency tire on the back wheel Emily couldn't confirm if the tech performed a partial tire rotation on not. So what did I pay for? Inconvenience and an upset customer is what I am. Not worth my time going back. I will travel miles to avoid Firestone. Actions of a few created a bad image for entire Firestone company. read more

DO NOT GO TO THE FIRESTONE IN WHEATON ON BUTTERFIELD. I made an appointment to get all new tires. I went in at the time I scheduled, and they had no record of my appointment and didn't have the tires I ordered. They ordered them in and it was done within 3 hours. I drove my car for about 2 weeks noticed a much bumpier ride. I went in to have it checked out and the guy was rude and didn't believe me. They aligned the tires and said nothing was wrong. 2 weeks later I went to a different mechanic and right away they said it was the tires; they were low quality and they don't sell them to people with newer cars or cars that drive in the snow and if they do it would be to people who have an old car and only need tires to get them through a couple of months. Firestone wouldn't refund my money or change the tires for a discounted price. All the guys there are rude and don't care about their customers or their customers cars. Don't waste your money or time by dealing with Firestone. Horrible business and lazy workers. read more
