What a gorgeous little cafe, conveniently located on the main road of Rico. They have a wonderful service and their food and drinks are great quality . We stopped by here several times since we were hiking around the area. We tried their turkey panini (excellent flavors), their peach muffins (to die for) cacao elixir ( a little on the sweet side) golden milk ( a little too much turmeric but delicious) and chai latte (well balanced). Cute little cafe in the town of Rico just south of Telluride. My hubby and I stopped at Fireweed for breakfast! I had looked up the menu here on Yelp but it's not up to date. A lot of the items listed were no longer there. They do have breakfast burritos but they'd sold out this morning though when we were walking out other people were ordering breakfast burritos and got them. I'm not sure if they were waiting for more to be made but they said they were sold out not that they were going to have more later. They also have frittatas and pastries. My husband and I each got a frittata. It was tomato, onion and sweet potato. It was good. I also got a fresh pressed juice - carrot, ginger and lemon. Very good too! My husband got iced tea and I got the bulletproof coffee. It was amazing! If I lived nearby they'd have a daily patron! The place was very busy. You can tell it's well loved by locals and those driving through. I wish we had gotten better information about the breakfast burritos at the register as that's what we wanted. The young lady behind the register was nice but spent a long time waiting on and talking to one of her friends which caused a long wait. Might be good to take the names of those people eating in and as well as getting to go food as it doesn't seem there is a system. The food is brought out and announced. Kind of hard to know it's your food when the frittata is all that is left and is being brought out of the kitchen. This cafe is definitely a cute stop in Rico. Be prepared for them to sell out of things but stop in and have some bulletproof coffee and some tasty food. read more

Wow, I have driven past this establishment a few times on previous trips to Southwestern Colorado, this was the first time I stopped and went in. What a pleasurable surprise it was, the cold brew coffee with the coffee ice cubes was fantastic, the best cold brew I've had in over a month on the road I highly recommend anybody driving through Rico, Colorado. Excellent stop for lunch and to take in the beautiful fall colors. My wife and I found the place inviting with menus on the wall and a warm attendant to greet us and take our order. We ordered a smoothie, coffee and a veggie burrito. We decided to eat outside. We both enjoyed our items. They have rustic but comfortable seating with just enough shading to be comfortable. They play soothing background music inside and the place is well decorated. The bathrooms, for customers only, are clean. read more

Stopped by for a late lunch, without checking Yelp. Funky combination of earthy touristy shop, grocery for cool eats, and restaurant/smoothies. Seems oriented toward vegan, healthy, organic food which is appreciated! I got a vegan sandwich, spouse got a salad. Mine was quite good, roasted vegetables and vegan cream cheese with a hint of spice. Spouse's salad dressing was roasted vegetables and quinoa with sesame ginger which she loved. Fresh made ice tea was pleasing. I tried a macrobiotic cola which was what one would expect. Recommended! read more

We stumbled upon this small mountain town Rico on a road trip, and this little mercantile and cafe was a major highlight! The food was excellent, and service friendly and expedient. The space is welcoming. The mercantile section consists of a small selection of curated foods including some fresh veg, spices, crackers, as well as some prepared items like refrigerated salads and house made granola (very tasty). A few non-food items included baskets, bamboo straws, etc. The cafe portion had a counter displaying a tempting selection of baked goods, and a nice menu of good breakfast/lunch options. We tried the breakfast burrito, and it was shockingly tasty and out of the ordinary! The tortilla was actually yummy (!) and not the standard pale flavorless wrap I'm accustomed to and expect, this one tasted good itself and didnt seem mass-produced. The filling was an interesting, well-seasoned and well-balanced mix of mostly vegetables, including black beans, maybe sweet potatoes, not too much egg, was astonishingly flavorful. They served it hot with two sauces on the side, both slightly reminiscent of indian flavors, i thought i tasted coriander and cumin, and one was pleasantly fire-y. It was unlike any breakfast burrito I have had and delicious. The cinnamon roll was also unlike any other I have tried, the main dough was a sourdough! It gave the roll a layer of complexity in the flavors, mingling a bit of sour with the cinnamon and the icing. The savory toast was also good, mostly bc of good hearty bread, but otherwise a fairly standard avocado toast that personally, i feel, does not benefit from a smattering of sriacha. Granola was tasty with coconut and peanut butter flavors, a good amount of saltiness to it too. Just great balanced flavors from this place. Hats off to the chefs/bakers. They were also very kind and let us bring my dog onto their lovely outside patio. A cool and easy vibe with random drying mushrooms towards the back. Overall, absolutely loved this cafe and almost want to drive out to have another breakfast burrito! Definitely check it out if you are nearby. read more

***WARNING! EXTREMELY AGGRESSIVE DOG LIVES ONSITE!*** I really hate writing bad reviews ( I honestly wouldn't have assigned stars if that was an option because we didn't get to eat here and I'm trying to be fair) but this is a public safety issue and I would hate for someone to lose their life or be maimed due to us not speaking out. We attempted to visit the restaurant this weekend and were immediately attacked by the owner's dog.... and by immediately i mean in less than 1 second upon stepping foot onto the patio. My husband was injured, but thankfully he was wearing thick pants so he did not require advanced medical attention. According to the owner, the dog is "very territorial and protective of the property"- I'm not sure why they do not see this as a problem considering they are inviting the public in to the property without warning of the danger. We did have our 30 lb elderly, arthritic, timid rescue dog with us (who in no way initiated/participated/provoked the attack and got completely blind-sided) as it was in no way clear that they did not allow dogs on the patio. The owner tried to blame us for the attack stating " this is why we don't allow dogs". Afterward I saw a tiny note on the front door that states this and none on the patio that we could see. They have a cute little sign that says "puppy parking" in front of the patio.. I suppose they think this is clear enough or adequate warning... and a more appropriate "beware of dog" would undoubtedly be "off brand " for such a establishment.. if you would have seen the ferocity at which my husband and dog were attacked without warning or provocation, I doubt you would agree this is even close to being sufficient. I have no doubt the only reason our dog is alive is because my husband stepped in and took the brunt of the attack. We are still shaken by the event and are only grateful that I was steps behind with my 1 year old and was able to pull him up to safety in time.. It makes us ill to think what might have happened if I had gone first or if my husband would have been holding him during the attack. Its unfortunate because it looks like a really cute place and surely is nice for the community to have some variety but there is no way on earth I would return with anyone who couldn't defend themselves (child, frail elderly, person with a disability...) . We contacted the appropriate authorities and the owner reportedly stated that the dog won't be on the patio any more- I'm not sure how much I'd trust that though considering she told us "he isn't supposed to be down here" right after the attack as well. She did apologize after initially being very defensive and blaming us, but continued to make excuses for the dog that I found unreasonable/unreassuring. Anyways, I felt obligated to let people know (I definitely wish I had fair warning) so you can make the call thats best for your family/level of risk tolerance. read more

Stopped by for a quick lunch and it was AMAZING! The Vegan Farm salad was out of this world. We had the squash and sweet potato soup (also vegan) and loved it. We aren't vegan, but loved every bite! I was very hopeful after seeing multiple good reviews on this place. Sadly, I was very disappointed. The food was overpriced and poor quality. However this is a new establishment so I will give them the benefit of the doubt. I certainly hope they can pull it together soon. read more
