I've used them the last few years to buy firewood. Always a good experience. Until today. Went in with $20.00 and just wanted a small amount of firewood, and to get a quote for our front yard tree trim. Guy said they only did $40.00 minimum for wood now. Then he had a meeting with I guess the manager 10 feet away from me and said they'd allow it this time. One of the weirdest interactions I've had when you're trying to give a company business. Excellent and excellent! I needed to get my pine tree cut down and called two tree service companies. One company (Pro Tree Service) promised me a quote and never called me back. First Choice, on the other hand called me back with a quote the next day. Eddy was my contact and he was professional, courteous, and honest. He quoted me a VERY reasonable price to cut down my pine tree and to prune two other trees. They did the job while I was at work and when I got home you could not even tell major yard work was done as they cleaned up so well after themselves. They wasted my time just like "Erin M", promises not kept. All i was looking for was a plan for my front yard, a tree in my backyard, and some brush hauled away. Guy named Matthew comes over and we spend a half an hour talking about it, and he tells me I'll have an estimate the following Thursday. Thursday comes and goes, and nobody calls me or e-mails me. I call him back Friday and then he tells me "the estimating people are backed up, we'll have it to you Wednesday'. That Wednesday comes and goes, and nobody calls or e-mail. Today it's Friday, so I call and he's not there but some guy in the office (seems very corporate, said 'nobody is there in that division') tells me 'we'll get you the estimate soon'. I'm moving on. If this is the kind of service you get when you are trying to give them work, I can only imagine what the rest of the experience is like. Moving on. read more

I live in Henderson and contacted First Choice Tree Service to trim my 28 year old Mondale Pine trees...I had 5 unruly pines. They did not charge more to work in Henderson. Bright and early on our appointed day...4 ready to work guys showed up. The lead man walked the area with me and made notes of what I like and suggested how they could trim to benefit the trees. WOW! They worked tirelessly for hours.....and my trees look fabulous, revived and happy to be! The men were courteous and clean. The branches were shredded on site, and taken away. We just had First Choice out and they were great to work with from start to finish. We have a lot of fruit trees in our backyard, and were nervous about getting the right person to trim them. Roe came out to do the estimate, and was very knowledgeable about fruit trees (as well as the other trees in our yard). As well, she took detailed notes on what we wanted for our other trees (we were pretty detailed on how we wanted certain trees to look when done). Less than 24 hours later, we had an estimate which included the notes she took typed up, which was reassuring. The day of the actual service, she and her crew arrived on time, and did a very professional job. Not only do our fruit trees look professionally done, but our olive trees never looked so good. The crew take a lot of pride in their work, which we greatly appreciate. This is the type of business you hope to get when you hire someone. Knowledgeable, listens to what you want and remembers it, loves what they do, and has great overall service. One suggestion - if you have fruit trees, call for an estimate in December so that you can get on the schedule for January. Wait any longer, and they get heavily booked, and the fruit trees bloom before they can get a chance to come out and trim. (This happened to us last year). read more

From the real deal arborist (Mike) they have come in to talk to you and evaluates your trees and directs their professional crew to their top notch equipment these guys really are the best in the biz. Maybe a little more expensive than the rag tag crew you get off the street but worth every penny. You'll realize that within the first five mins of your service. Trust me I learned the hard way. Their team is responsive, professional and respectful to me, my home, my trees, and my property. Can't ask for more. If you care about your trees and want the job done right you will be happy with First Choice. Worst service ever. I LIVE at Desert foothills community and they are the ones that do the landscaping in there and every week I constantly remind them to put doggie waste bags in the boxes and they never do. We always go on for weeks without doggie waste bags that there are all dog poop all over the park. We never had this problem in 2016 before they changed landscapers. Yesterday while they're crew was laying around under the tree I reminded them twice to replace the bags and still this afternoon it wasn't done. Whoever the manager of this place is doing a lousy job. Having too much communities to take care of is not an excuse. If you can't handle it enough that you can take care of the communities properly , you have no reason to keep taking up jobs. Take care of your existing communities before taking more responsibilities you can't handle. Every other week we don't have bags in the park for almost a week. read more

When getting my palm trees trimmed (got too tall for me to do any longer) originally used First Choice and the price was reasonable as well as great results. However, since then every time I request a quote it is AT LEAST $200 more than anyone else. Only thing I can believe is either the company is ripping people off or (probably the reality) they prefer non-residential. My last quote was around $177 per palm tree (almost $600 for 3)!? No wonder even Home Advisor does not recommend First Choice Tree Service. Especially at a time when most everyone is unemployed due to COVID, increases of around $50 per tree and year in price "just because" is not acceptable. Really too bad too, as they were responsive and conveniently available...but I suppose I understand better why. Everyone else is busy. I actually was thinking about them for some artificial turf and other landscaping needs, but just cannot justify the overpriced average service. read more

Mike the "arborist" reassured me that May was not too early to trim palm fronds. I also had some other things I was asking about but I took his word because he's supposedly the professional. WELL here we are in July, my trees are shedding like they were never trimmed. I should of listened to my instinct. I also had a repeat visit to have a quote on some PINEs to be trimmed. The estimate was so over priced I wouldn't ever consider. When I called a couple services, they all said to wait till fall to trim pine trees because of the sap that will ooooze at this time. We have used First Choice Tree Service for a number of years. Our three Sumacs and a Canary palm always require some annual care. We prefer to make our annual call in early spring, not only because we want to be sure to have it scheduled sooner but it's also better for the trees/palm. The reason we choose First Choice is they all know what they're doing. Sure the job may cost us a bit more than other options but our mature trees/palm are very important to us and we'd rather put the job in the hands of those who are experts. It's easy to recognize an amateur trimming job from the street and that's definitely not for us! Ed, who's always friendly and professional, is my first contact with the company. He came out, assessed the individual needs of the trees/palm, then emailed a fair estimate within 48 hours. Once we accepted the estimate the office called to schedule the job. The crew arrived when promised, walked the property as I explain the particulars, then promptly got to work. The three guys coordinate the various tasks, no wasted time or activity. Had these guys plant four trees for me and all of them died. Last year they planted a Sumac for me and guess what a year later the tree was dead! One tree they planted in sand and after one year it died. I mean a Sumac is like a weed and will grow almost anywhere but these guys even though all of the trees had proper irrigation to them managed to screw up once again. read more

We have used First Choice Trees for 4 years. They have trimmed our palms, pines, mulberry, and ash. In the past we have had excellent service. Ro always paid attention to detail, gave us a great rate, and made sure her guys did quality work. Ro would make sure we were scheduled ahead of time every year for our palm tree service. June is a busy time of year at First Choice for palms. If our palms seed, and fall in our pool we get algae, so it is important to us to make sure we are scheduled way ahead of time. Most importantly in my eyes, Ro always listened to our concerns about not cutting anything back with a birds nest attached to a branch or a frond. We have tons of birds in our neighborhood. This year we are very disappointed. I made an appointment back in December or January to have our palms cut June 20th. I made the appointment because their office contacted me. A week before the appointment I called to confirm the date and time, and I was told we didn't have an appointment, and the soonest we could get in would be July 28th. I questioned why our appointment had been canceled, and I was informed they were using a new scheduling system. I asked if I could talk with Ro, and I was told she no longer worked for the company. The receptionist informed me a representative would contact me for an estimate. I explained we had paid $250 every year in the past. She told me a representative would need to come out, and give me a new estimate. I then received an email with an estimate of $337. When I emailed back informing Mike that we have always paid $250 he said they would no longer be able to honor those rates. He had to take into consideration how long the guys were working on the trees. If anything the trees are easier to trim now because we have them maintained every year. After trying to get the price down, I agreed to pay the new fee just to get the job done. I let her know that if there was an earlier opening we would love to take it. The next day she emailed that there was an opening on June 28th. We took it because we had already had to shock our pool twice because of the seeds in the pool. Every year we let them know to leave any fronds that have birds nests attached regardless of what they look like. I came home to a butchered filifera palm with every nest gone, and the fronds are straight in the air. Mike came out when we called him, and he said we would have to pay another $60 to shave the top to make it look better, but we would actually have to find $250 worth of work for them to do to actually schedule an appointment. I just paid $337 to have this job done, I shouldn't have to find $250 worth of work to do in order to finish the original job that was $87 more than it has been the last 4 years. I am overall disappointed in the entire experience. I feel as if I have been taken advantage of, and ripped off. I am devastated that the 5 oriel nests are gone. I hope they found shelter, I hope they return. None of this would have happened if Ro was still with the company. I will climb a ladder, and trim the trees myself before I call First Choice again. read more

First Choice Tree Service, as its name implies, should be your "First Choice" for tree service. I had been referred to them one year ago to trim some trees in the front yard. This year I decided to go with them again and called the office. Since they knew my property, they likely had the supervisor do a "drive by" and give the estimate without me having to be there. We agreed upon a price and they scheduled the appointment. They kept me updated via email. On the appointed day the crew of three arrived on time in a big white truck with chipper. They were courteous and we shook hands and then verified the work to be done. They then went about their work in an efficient team-like manner. At the conclusion of the work they asked me if I were satisfied with the work done. When I agreed, they completed the work by a complete clean up of the debris. Since they had a chipper, they did not have to pile the cuttings into a little truck, but turned everything into mulch using the chipper. I thanked them for a job well done and they left. It is hard to find good service companies in Las Vegas. First Choice is a good one. I am just an occasional residential customer, but felt like I was treated with the same courtesy as if I was a big account. The one bad rating on this site is likely from a disgruntled person who inappropriately gave a bad rating due to an unavoidable situation with the company. No one is perfect. We all make mistakes. They apologized and tried to make up for the error. Note that the other reviews are like mine. I am already on their list for next year, and based upon my tree service experience I will be looking into their other landscape services. read more

I hired another tree service that had high reviews on yelp to trim a mimosa and ash tree. The day after said company trimmed trees my mimosa started oozing stuff from the trunk. I did research and learned I should contact an arborist. That's how I found First choice tree service.They promptly came out and looked at my trees. I never looked at the trees after they were cut and the arborist showed me all the hack marks they made, which is why the tree was oozing. The arborist suggested I wait to fix other persons mistakes, give the mimosa a chance to heal. Also educated me about watering the trees. I was worried it would die. I called the previous hack service and the owner came out. Was unprofessional and said the guy who trimmed it has been doing this for over 10 years. When I schooled him about how to properly cut limbs and asked if the hack marks in my tree were acceptable ( all things I learned from First Choice arborist) he said no and gave me $100 back and asked me to let him trim it up right then to correct. I told him no, I was going to let a real professional and someone who clearly cares and knows about trees do it. First Choice came back out and trimmed ash and mimosa. Also re-did drip around mimosa and this year it bloomed before the others in neighborhood and is looking amazing. They were professional, on time and everyone was courteous and I'm so glad my tree is saved and I'm more educated about them.
