Really great, fresh and mostly healthful food is to be found at First Watch. We'd never been to one before because I don't think there are any in Chicago but have been seeing them all over the South and KC area. I had a blueberry pancake, which was really good and also tried the new carrot crush drink and mixed greens. The prices are surprisingly low for natural and organic fare. You can get traditional things like omelettes and bacon, too, but this place is really nice for someone like me- mostly vegetarian and not into heavy food. Nothing is fried here and even their ketchup is made without bad ingredients. Definitely a great addition to the chain restaurant landscape. read more

Went for the first time and will say I loved the atmosphere and decor. I think it's great that they try to source locally, where possible. That being said, our service was terrible. We took our order, after the server seemed a bit annoyed I didn't know what I wanted right off the bat, and never got water. We had to finally stop the server and ask to have water. I ordered the Benedict but it was under done, way too runny, and one of the yokes has broken and already dried on the plate by the time it was brought out to me. My husband asked for a to go box that never arrived, and we finally left after waiting 5 or so minutes. I likely won't be back and will continue traveling outside of blue springs if I'm looking for a nicer breakfast. Update: tried again today and ordered the eggs Benedict again. It was definitely better and the eggs were not runny and underdone. The eggs still weren't great and a few minutes after receiving my food they actually brought out a few more because they didn't "like the look of the eggs" they gave me. The service was much better. My husband had the salmon toast special and said it was delicious. If/when we go back I think I'll try something different but will hopefully go back someday! read more

25 min to wait for eggs on a Wednesday is rediculous. I guess this place must have a steady clientele but paying $31 for 2 people lol. I can go to any restaurant and get a steak dinner for $12. I think it's all the fancy stuff on the menu people go for. All I wanted was corned beef hash an eggs over easy. But they don't have corned beef hash but they have kale and all that other garbage. I've only been here once and im unlikely to return. Let me start by saying we came on a Sunday brunch time... they were swamped(and I can't figure out why). Very long wait time for a couple. First off they have a big coffee pot at the entrance with stevia available. Huge plus. The food is outstanding. I had the works omelette and it was hands down the best I've ever had. We wasted almost 2 hours on Labor Day at First Watch. We added our name to the list and were told 10-15 mins. We were sat after 10 mins. Our waitress was there soon after we sat down. We had our order ready because we had time look over the menu while waiting for the table. So we ordered right away. My girl's hot chocolate came quickly and we all had water to drink as well. We had to make a bathroom run while we waited and since I was alone with my girls I had to leave the table and go with them. I am not sure what the proper Etiquette is in a situation like this, but when we got back to our table, it was already half cleaned up. But they were very apologetic about the situation and I hadn't told anyone we were going to the bathroom. So I guess no fault to them here. Then we kept waiting and waiting and waiting for our food. Mind you this was supposed to be a fun "no school" breakfast.... but instead we just waited for our food. My youngest daughter got to her breaking point and started crying. I felt it was time to leave. We still didn't have our food (around 11:40) and I had told our waitress to just make it "to go" the last time we had seen her. So we headed to the register to pay for the food we never received. While in line to pay the waitress came with the food all bagged up, just in time for me to pay for the meal we didn't get to eat. She added a couple of muffins to the bag that we hadn't ordered to help the situation. (One of which wasn't cooked all the way through on the bottom when we ate it) It was a horrific restaurant experience yesterday. It goes to show that the kitchen staff is very important in a restaurant. It wasn't just our table that didn't have food, it was everyone! Our waitress was great.... but she had no food to give us. We tried to eat our food for breakfast this morning.... my daughters blueberry pancake had a strong pumpkin flavor to it and we found a stem on one of the blueberries. The Chocolate Chip pancake was a total mess with chocolate smeared all over it. She took one bite and didn't want any more. The only good thing was the waffle I had ordered. While I realize that it's NYD.... there is a definite flaw in the management of the floor. The kitchen seems to be spot on! The food looks amazing ! HOWEVER..... the wait to sit is terrible. And the gentleman at the register has no clue about hosting( may not be his fault). Training? But when you have this many people waiting and then you have people using an app too! You better have someone equipped to handle it. No busters here apparently. You do not sit 2 people at a 6 person table when there are 2,available 2 person booths set up for new customer.., you don't leave numerous tables uncleared for over 20 min. While people wait. So unfortunately while I live within 5 min drive to this location. We will now go to the Indep. Location on 40Hwy. While they have been open longer and are more experienced at this.... I am disappointed in how the Blue Springs location was NOT handled very well. No obvious management anywhere. And there are a couple of waitresses that , OMG could you possibly walk any slower!
