My friends and I stopped by for a quick brunch and were so unsatisfied with both the food and service, it was baffling. I gave it 2 stars because the server was very nice. We were seated during off hours, lunch was dying down, and there were only 5-6 tables out of the entire restaurant (~20-25+ tables?) that had customers. There were definitely enough staff to serve customers and host separately, yet our server was also the host? That wouldn't be an issue if it didn't take almost 15 minutes for our server to just come ask us what we wanted to drink. We all ordered water and it took another 10 minutes to bring that out. We ordered our food and it took another 35+ minutes before we got impatient and called over our server /host(?) who then went to get our food. It came out cold, no surprise. It was probably just sitting in the back ready for 15-20 minutes. The long wait could've been salvaged if the food was good... it was so borderline mediocre. My friend ordered the AM Superfood Bowl. The coconut chia seed pudding was bland and just more of a blob than any pudding. It also came with almond butter toast, which was drier than the desert. All 3 of us at the table tried it, all same opinion. My 2nd friend ordered the 2 for YOU, asking our server what the soup of the day was -- he said some broccoli and cheese soup, which she agreed to. We're really not sure what soup we received, but it had no broccoli or cheese. I ordered the Elevated Egg Sandwich, which was the least disappointing out of all 3, but not by much. Besides being room temperature/cold whilst eating it, there was no avocados as stated. The server stated that the fruits substitution could come with straw/blueberries, which I thought he made note of when I said I'd like that. It came with melon and pineapples only. He was nice enough to bring some berries when I questioned him though which is a plus. All in all, this is just an overpriced brunch location and I would 100% suggest eating elsewhere for your time and money's worth. Color me unimpressed with the pancake quality (dry, not worth it) but the Covid safety measures were great. I normally really like First Watch. The food tastes fresh and they have some great, healthy options like the AM superfoods bowl. Service can be hit or miss but usually decent. The most recent visit, however, as I ate my usual AM superfoods bowl, I tasted something off- there was a slight mayo (or some dressing type) flavor as well as some stray lettuce in the bottom of my bowl. I was at a business meeting so I didn't want to not eat it but I am a little worried my bowl wasn't cleaned properly. I can't imagine how that much of something got into it otherwise. We both got the truffle mushroom hash and it had potential of being amazing but was overall bland and unimpressive. Our service was relatively slow, but our server was very kind. We checked multiple times on the website prior to arriving to get on a waitlist, but it kept saying there was no wait and that is why we went. Took a minute to find this spot. Definitely a breakfast place. We ended up eating outside out of habit with COVID. Inside seemed quite nice. The outside table was one of those grate style tables. Guess that makes them easier to clean? But not so comfortable. Server was very helpful with the menu. Overall food was good (but not great). We love this place and hunt for one no matter where we go. Chapel Hill's is near and hear as we have gone here many times with our little one and never cease to have a delectable and downright exciting culinary experience. The staff has always been pleasant and accommodating, no mean task in light of our occasionally picky palates and health nut obsessions. It tasted fairly sour to me and would have either benefited from spice or a little sweetness.
