They are very busy as well, waitress let us know that they close at 2p daily. The staff was attentive and helpful. We ordered our food and Yasssss in deed the food was amazing!! Our food came out extremely fast, everything was delicious and hot!! We had the chicken and catfish meal, serving size was more than enough for lunch. Oh did I mention the prices are fair for what you receive. The sweet tea was on point also.... The menu has quite abit and they have a daily special. Welp, I waited and waited and waited...finally someone checked on my order and I ended up eating 1/2 of the burger, which was good, but I had to go back to work. The young lady told me, there are 4 restaurants and 1 kitchen. I'm like WHAT? Whose bright idea was that? She also explained that a lot of people call in their orders. I think it's a nice spot if you have time to wait, but in the future I will call in my orders. The place was clean and well lit, however it does have a fishy smell as one of those 4 restaurants is a Sushi spot.

My wife's Philly cheese steak was also very good. We all liked the meal. We had to ask about the home made ice cream. I'd been here once before and had a hard time believing they really make their ice cream here at the restaurant. They had (I think) 18 flavors. The waitress brought three of us a couple of small spoon samples to try out the flavors. We ended up each getting a scoop in a small bowl and it was excellent. I don't think I can resist not getting the ice cream when I go back here. And she did confirm that Mama Henry does make the ice cream at the restaurant. We were all pleased with everything! Mama Henry's Restaurant - A great find!…read more Our ROMEO group of nine went to Mama Henry's today for the first time. None of us had ever been here before--or, for that matter, even heard of it. Since last week was our 200th restaurant we've visited, which we celebrated at Hall's, I figured we'd go in the opposite direction for today's luncheon and try a good old-fashioned local home-cooking establishment. I had seen a review of Mama Henry's a couple of weeks ago, and it piqued my interest. We arrived around 11:15, and our waitress, Mahkinzey, set us up in the back area by pulling several tables together. She took our drink orders and gave us some recommendations. When asked what she would recommend, she said the 16-hour pot roast was great, along with all of the burgers. She also recommended the catfish Po'Boy and another dish, and then told us to check out their homemade ice cream. Of course, we never order dessert at lunch! The menu is extensive, and we had quite an assortment of orders: two roast beef dinners with mashed potatoes and vegetables, two open-faced roast beef sandwiches, two different types of hot dogs, a Philly cheesesteak, a club sandwich, and a Mama Henry Burger with some great home fries. There was plenty of conversation about how great the menu looked, along with some discussion about what a trip it was to get here from Northeast Columbia. But just like last week... when the food was brought to the table, the talking stopped and the eating began! Mahkinzey was an excellent waitress. She brought extra ice for the iced tea, kept an eye on our table, and did a great job keeping everyone's drinks filled. When we finished our meals, she brought out the extensive list of homemade ice cream flavors and told us we could sample them. Now picture this: nine ROMEO guys who NEVER order dessert suddenly piling up around the front ice cream counter. We were checking out the flavors like kids at the ice cream shop. One member announced, "I just can't order the ice cream." He had worked out that morning and apparently still had some willpower left. He watched as eight of us returned to the table with a scoop of ice cream. Between us, we had sampled about five different flavors. The comments started flying about how good the ice cream was. Well, apparently the peer pressure--or perhaps the ice cream--was too much. Our workout-conscious ROMEO finally stepped up his game, went back to the counter, and ordered a scoop himself...He didn't regret it When it was time for the official ROMEO rating, and we already knew this one was going to be good. What we didn't expect was just how good. Mama Henry's received a 9.71 out of 10, which tied the rating we gave Hall's just one week ago for our 200th restaurant celebration. Not too shabby! This is the highest rating we've given any restaurant before (tied with Hall's) But here's the kicker: Mama Henry's cost us about half of what we paid at Hall's--and that included ice cream! For a group that visits a different restaurant almost every Tuesday, finding a place this good that none of us had even heard of is a pretty special discovery. Mama Henry's is a true hidden gem, and apparently, a place where ROMEO can be persuaded to eat dessert.

We started off with some fried green tomatoes.  Everyone does their little twist on them and this place did the same.  Personally, I am good with them as is and maybe some remoulade for dipping.  Here they had a pepper sauce that came with them and cheese melted atop the FGTs.  Not bad and nothing killed or overpowered the flavor from the FGTs.  However, I did wish that the pepper sauce had a bit more kick.  I cannot remember the name but the drink of the much was a peach based drink.  It was good and it was not just some peach flavored alcohol but it was made with peach puree.  They had me at peach when she ran through the specials.    For the main entrée it was the ribeye at a medium rare with fries and asparagus.   You get a choice of a bordelaise or garlic aioli to accompany your steak or whatever you want to dip in it.  Steak was cooked to the medium rare as I requested and that is a good start because we know there those places that consider what you ask for as just a suggestion.  Good flavor from the steak with no need for the sauce as I found out and I just enjoy asparagus.    Good experience.  Despite this being my first time here this place gave the vibe as a solid choice.  One of those places where when you are unsure of what you want but don't want to risk something new because you are hungry or with someone who cannot come to terms with their food desires.  This is a that old, trusted place you can rely on when you are hungry and good service.  A first experience that went very well.

Ofc I scroll through Yelp (as one does - literally hi friend!) and one of the top rated is The Bistro. I whip on over there and, albeit confused with the parking sitch (you can park in the back and go in through the side where the restrooms are, or you can go in through the front? Yo no sé.) I was greeted by this gorgeous host who promptly sat me and a drooooopp deeeeaaaddd waitress Annie T, don't get it twisted, came with the suggestions and shoutouts I couldn't be more excited to get. I decided on The Bistro Bee Sting (yall, I mean come on.. look at that photo. DELISH!) and a turkey melt with some cheese grits as a side. So friggin good. A bit expensive but honestly 10/10 will be back. And GET THE BEE STING! I'm still drooling. 8.4/10 only because of price, but service, ambiance, and flavor were all 10's.

The walls are covered in framed historical documents and photographs about the Mathias Sandwich Shop and old signs from the 1940's and 1950's that I imagine are truly original to the era it was hoppin' and bussin' at during that time. It has a very unique feel to it, like a place your grandmother and her family loved to go to growing up in this area. You can tell some of their customers here are patrons. It's a true "mom and pop" kinda place, which I love! Although we ordered a kids burger and a couple Reuben sandwiches, I felt the need to come back and try everything on their menu. It was a simple sandwich, burger, hot dog, salad kind of diner, but each category had many choices to choose from. The food was served warm and with a smile, which is always a nice touch. My son ate all of his kid's burger and fries and my other son ate all of his Reuben and chips. Both of them were very satisfied! My Reuben was also very good. The flavors were true to their mark and very good. The service we received was also great! Parking can be tricky in the front of the shop, so I might try parking behind the shop next time.
