We used to go here every weekend bc they could cook an over medium egg the right way with no runny white! And they actually had some friendly waiters! That didn't last long and we quit ordering fried eggs and went to scrambled. Then our orders started getting messed up frequently and we quit going there altogether. Well today (Friday) we decided to give them another try. Big mistake! We had put our name on the wait list through the app and got there , checked in, there were only a few people in front of us (all good right) After a little wait I asked the host person who was going back and forth from register to host station if we could have a booth that was open and had been the whole time we waited and he said he'd see what he could do and then he immediately gave the booth to another person...oh well, then they turned to us and took us to a tiny table crammed between two other tables and we asked for a two top we saw in the other corner but were told we couldn't sit there bc they may need to put those tables together. We are Foodies and we eat out every day, so why would we want to eat somewhere that just considers us a number for a food order with no consideration for our comfort. Extremely disappointed after our first (and likely last) visit to First Watch at the Medallion (or any location). Based on the content in other low reviews, I'm 100% convinced that the issues stem from poor (missing) management and flawed processes and systems. Seeing that this is a franchise, there is probably culpability at both the local and corporate levels. I hope management at all levels is paying attention to these reviews so they can course correct. It's really a shame since their food is excellent. Barring a major turnaround in their service model, I think First Watch would thrive much better as a fast casual concept (ie counter service) since it really should be all about the delicious food. Based on the current deficiencies, no one is going to come to this place for a brunch experience. My observations and concerns: 1. There are NO dedicated hosts. It's obvious when you walk in. I politely asked the girl up front about the staffing model since she was running around like a chicken with her head cut off. She informed me that there are no dedicated hosts and that the "servers rotate that responsibility". Are you kidding me?! To add insult to injury, she was expected to greet customers, manage the list, take to-go orders, and serve as the cashier! This is the front door to your dining experience and, right now, it is completely broken and poorly designed. I sure hope that this isn't a "cost cutting" measure since ironically it is contributing toward a negative service experience which means less revenue from people like myself who go out often but will not tolerate subpar experiences when there is so much choice in a large city like dallas. 2. On-site management appeared to be nearly non-existent. If you ever go to a place with elite service, there is nearly always a dedicated manager who is on the front lines engaging with customers, helping to manage issues, etc. 3. The server to customer ratios seemed a bit off. Our waitress was stretched to a degree that she was forgetting items and overall not very attentive. Again, this is a management issue. Reevaluate your ratios and adjust to a sustainable level that balances cost with customer experience. Again, this is all such a shame because their food is very very good. I've been here three times now and all three times there has been problems. On this third visit, there were makeup lip stains around our water glass -- clearly indicating the glass hadn't been cleaned. That was then followed up by my food coming out cold, while my wife's food came out hot. This indicates that they have no system in place to cook food for tables in a parallel fashion. This is the second time this has happened. On top of that, I ordered over medium eggs and the yolks were cooked all the way through. Bacon was also cold. Last time we will give this establishment any of our money. Consistently mediocre experiences are an indicator of a much larger management problem or lack of restaurant experience. read more

Went there for the first time this evening for brunch with my wife. The wait was about 45 minutes but it's fine because they were able to send out a text to know when our table was ready so we could go shop real quick. The first thing I noticed was the menus are too big for the tables. I know it's not a big deal but it's something pretty simple to fix. The service was really great but the food and the cleanliness were huge issues. The water they gave us was room temperature tap water and tasted like a wet dog which I personally find unacceptable. You cannot be a respectable dining establishment if you can't get basic things like purified water. The syrup containers they gave us were clogged with hair and fuzz. The cup of coffee creamer had bits of bacon in it and pieces of crayons. The food that I ordered was a skillet hash and I specifically asked for no onions. The food came with them anyway and because of a bad sensitivity I have to them I wasn't able to eat it. I told the waitress and she spoke with the kitchen and she came back and said that the hash itself is made with onions and so I would have to choose something else. The issue I have with this is that the onions were not embedded into the other vegetables, but in the meat and cheese. So either they are preparing the food with onions mixed with the raw meat and cheese, or they marking huge portions of the dish and using bits of that batch for each order. Either way, it's hard to believe they were incapable of making the dish without onions. I ordered the French toast instead and it was big and fluffy but a little undercooked. The fruit I had with my first dish was also not fresh and a hardened. My wife had the waffle and it was really good but she ordered her eggs over medium and it was entirely undercooked, even the whites were too undercooked to justifiably call them over easy. The waitress we had was named Alex and she was completely understanding of everything and provided great service. She even took both the first meal I ordered and the French toast off the bill which was really great. It's just very sad that great customer service and friendly staff isn't enough to overcome a poorly ran kitchen. We will most likely not be returning. read more

I was beyond excited when I saw a First Watch opening within walking distance from my house. Simply the idea of access to healthier breakfast options in this neighborhood made me hopeful. Unfortunately, my joy was quickly squashed. I have visited this location the last three Saturdays in a row and experienced very slow and inattentive service each time. The first couple of visits I was willing to give the staff the benefit of the doubt as they just recently opened. However, the inability of the manager to set in place an organized operational structure for his staff has left me with serious doubts. Last Saturday, we were seated after a long wait. After waiting 10 minutes, we had not been greeted by our waiter and had to flag down the manager to ask for drinks and place our order. We waited for another 10 minutes until we were finally greeted by our waiter (still no drinks). He asked for our order and we let him know the manager took the order. However, either the manager failed to enter the order or the kitchen staff failed to make it because we were left waiting for our food for another 30 minutes. When the waiter finally returned to our black hole, we inquired as to why the table who arrived after us had received their food and we had not even received word as to the status of our order. This Saturday, we were seated quickly (thank you, Yelp Waitlist!) and given coffee, but no water, immediately. We also placed our order as soon as we sat down hoping it might help to expedite things. Unfortunately, we were wrong. After, again, watching someone who arrived after us receive her food and waiting 30 minutes for our food, our waiter came to inform us she did not know "what is going on" in the kitchen. I did see the manager helping the MANY kitchen staff, which was not exactly inspiring. Servers can be slow. Wait times can be long. However, if you cannot feed people whose main goal in visiting your establishment is to eat, there are some major problems that need to be resolved quickly. read more

The food was excellent. However, the service was so awful, that I may never return. First when we arrived and stated a preference for a table vs a booth, were told we would have to wait several minutes, we asked if we could sit at the counter and the hostess said we could, the group of four behind were immediately sat a table, which we were told was not available to us. We sat down at the counter, my wife went to move what appeared to be an empty coffee cup, turned out I'd had some coffee in it. After several minutes of sitting with the spill on the counter and my hand drenched in coffee, a server finally made eye contact with us, we were sitting in front of the POS system and a parade of servers avoided us, she proceeded to get us new cups, took a rag from behind the counter and wiped up the spill, then proceeded to hand it to me to wipe my hand. She explained it was a sani wipe, but she had just wiped off the counter so it was no longer sani. This same server got our coffee, she poured my wife a full cup of decaf and left the pot, she then did the wiping of the counter thing, then went back behind the counter and proceeded to pour me half a cup of coffee then took the pot away. We finally had to ask the next server, who actually took our order, to get utensils, cream and water. He took our order, then never said anything or even looked at us the remainder of the time we spent there. A third person brought our food, dumped it and left. After nearly finishing my meal, the server who got our coffee made eye contact and I was able request more coffee, I actually asked if I was allowed more than half a cup to which she chided me that someone must have taken my pot, to which I pointed out it was her who had taken my pot away. It was then I looked around and discovered that everyone in the place had a pot of coffee except me. Shortly before we received our food, what appeared to be a friend of the wait person who brought us coffee came in and sat next to us at the counter, for the next several minutes they received attention from several servers and received their food in half the time it took ours. Despite being in front of the POS system, we couldn't get the attention of anyone. Once we received our bill, I reviewed it and took out a form of payment, laid it on the counter. We waited 10 minutes, no one bothered to ask for payment or look to see we were providing or pay any attention to us at all, until I picked up my check and waived it around. It is one thing to be at a table, but to be seated in front of the POS system where orders and payments are processed, and have two servers as well as the manager ignore you is a little bleak. The food may be excellent which means, you might put up with a little wait, even understand service may be slow when it is busy, but to be ignored, and treated like you are an imposition is difficult to take. read more

Typical strip mall chain interior, competent and friendly staff. I ordered a Trifecta, which is a pancake, two basted eggs, and two rashers of bacon. Everything was cold. The pat of butter on the pancake was not melting, and didn't melt after I spread it out. The pancake was not "huge" as described in the menu. It was a decent size, but fairly thin, and it was crusted on the bottom, as it had been overcooked. It came with some kind of thin jelly instead of syrup. The bacon was thin and narrow, and cold. The eggs were cooked well with no scallops, but they were cold. The dishes my friends got looked alright, omelettes and such. And I saw some Eggs Benedict on another plate that looked good. If you want just a regular breakfast, you can get much better for much less money elsewhere. read more

I have eaten here twice now. The food is very good and taste fresh! I have ordered the turkey omelet, pancakes, chicken salad melt and broccoli cheddar soup and loved all of them. Man, we were so excited for a healthy option opening in the neighborhood. VERY DISAPPOINTED . We tried both the Walnut Hill and NW Hwy/Abrams location, both have great food and TERRIBLE service. They can't seem to figure it out. Dine In or to go, after multiple visits we won't be back for a while. *NOTE: original chop house just opened with similar menu at Mockingbird and Abrams!! Major issues: 1. To go: Never really had an order come out correctly or on time . They don't seem to have anyone in charge of to go orders, which creates chaos and confusion every time. It's usually whoever is at the register at the time, which means if there is a line of people waiting to pay you will be there for A while! *Watch our if you order a drink/juice; they have tried to give me my to go with out the drink almost every time. I shouldn't have to check my order every time and remind you what's missing 2. Turning tables: Not sure what their system is, but it doesn't work! Every time I go there are families waiting for tables. You look around and see 3-5 dirty tables waiting to be cleaned off for 10-15 minutes (usually during busy times). 3. Manager(s): In many cases listed above I have noticed a manager standing at the front, around the register and hostess stand. I say "around" because while customers are waiting for tables, waiting in long lines to pay, and even when there is clear chaos and confusion with to go orders (right in front of them), I am yet to see a manager step in to help. They stand at the front, tidy up menus, and greet customers. Never have I witnessed management be so uninvolved, especially when things are busy. * with a 30 minute wait to be seated, I saw one manager greeting guests, holding menus, and occasionally seating tables, while two employees sat at the register with nothing to do, and 5-6 tables waiting to be bussed within 10 yards. 15 minutes later the water got it cle * I also saw a manager at the front register area sipping coffee while tables needed to be bossed, customers were both waiting, and they missed part of my to go order and had to remake it in the back, only to find they left out half our order when we got home. When we called back he simply said "what did we miss? we'll make it right now." Thanks, super helpful. **UPDATE** 12.26.19 They kindly reached out. Went back for to go. Ordered 2 juices and Avocado toast (egg over medium). 1 person offered to take my to go order after they finished with some customers, another person came and asked to take my to go order and came back a few min take my order (the other girl was "still busy") it, a third person actually brought me my to go order. They charged me about $20, and handed me a brown bag with... Shockingly no juices. I asked if they had the juices and the response was " I thought it was weird that your avocado toast was $20. I first visited First Watch in Tulsa, and was thrilled when they opened a location right by my apartment here in Dallas. I took my parents when they were visiting from Minnesota, and we all loved it! I had the avocado toast and the kale tonic, and my parents each had the Belgian waffle. Food was amazing, our server was so friendly, and the restaurant has a great vibe/decor. I was skeptical of trying this place because of the reviews so I waited. Till one day driving by with my 10 year old niece and she asked if I had been and I said no and she "it's good". That was the green light for me lol so next day we were there. Food and service were great. I loved the ambiance, decor and overall vibe. It's basically a copy cat version of Magnolia Table in Waco but the food is way yummier here. I highly recommend giving them a try and I hope they open more locations. read more

The other location I used to go to in College Station, TX always had a very long wait and you had to have a reservation. Not the case here. Easily walked in and got sat immediately. No exaggeration, this is the best coffee I have ever had. No latte can compare. Get the whole pot. I really enjoyed "this" experience at First Watch, the previous visit not so much. I'll start with the previous visit compared to this one. The previous visit was going well until...the staff (in an attempt to turn a table quickly for the next guest) sprayed some kind of solution directly towards me (instead of away from me) in which came in contact with my skin and immediately caused me to have an asthmatic reaction. I had inhaled the mist and continuously coughed to free my airway. If that wasn't bad enough, the couple that was sat next to us were unmasked and she coughed relentlessly for the entire 15 minutes that I stayed there until I couldn't stand it anymore and cut my experience short just to get away from her. I was sooooooo annoyed! Covid still exists people! Now onto my recent experience, the waitress was ok to medium in her service which wasn't bad, she just wasn't stellar! I met two girlfriends for lunch today at First Watch and it was stupendous! From the friendly and smiling staff, to the decor, to the food, First Watch on Northwest Highway is topnotch. I ordered the Power Wrap: egg whites, yummy (roasted on site) mushrooms and spinach in a tortilla wrap served with seasonal fresh fruit. It was so good and I am still full after five hours. Our server was wonderful and the check out process, paying at the front, is so nice because we could sit as long as we wanted without being bothered. Worst service ever. We have waited for more than an hour at our table now and no food, no server checking on us, and no explanation. Finally took our empty drink to the bar and asked for a refill. No - we have to wait for the server. Food finally came and yeah- not great. If you have ever had millionaire bacon at Sweet Maple in San Francisco you know First Watch's entry is just bacon with pancake syrup on it. Lame! First off, let me start this by saying that the server, Alejandra, was very nice and attentive. She's Def a keeper. The kitchen, however, left a lot to be desired. My partner and I went for brunch around 2 on a Saturday. She ordered eggs Benedict, a kids meal for our son, and fruit bowl for the table. I ordered the traditional breakfast. The kid plate came out superfast. My partner's plate came out soon after. My didn't come out for 15 mins after theirs had come. When it came finally, the sausage was cold. I don't mean that it wasn't hot. It was refrigerator cold. I asked for a new plate and waited another ridiculously long time for the new plate. I didn't complain to the manager because I was trying to enjoy my first Saturday off in 7 months but I definitely will wait until the kitchen staff gets there act together before I come back. 5 stars for the server, no stars for the food read more
