I visited with a friend who raved about their breakfast. They're pretty busy, so you definitely want to get a reservation. The ambiance is homey and comfortable and the waiters are personable. I wasn't in the mood to be extravagant with breakfast and opted for the simple pancake, with eggs and bacon but I saw waiters pass through with beautiul dishes, and it made me extremely jealous. It can be a bit cramped when they're serving a full house, but it doesn't get uncomfortable. The chocolate pancake was amazing, and my friend said her blueberry pancake was amazing as well. I'd definitely return to try all of the wonderful menu options. They have seasonal menus and their summer menu looks brilliant! My wife and I have had a complicated relationship with First Watch. We enjoy the food, but the incredibly long wait times and general lack of operational fluidness are always a drag, and unfortunately they have two servers/hostesses on their staff whose attitudes are so abysmal that they should not be working in food service. So, it was with trepidation that we ate breakfast there about a month ago, expecting to be underwhelmed yet again. But this time we were pleasantly surprised by the service we received from our waitress Sellicia. She was new to the restaurant, but was fully in command of the menu, was unfailingly attentive, and she communicated with both of us with the utmost respect and professionalism. She was so excellent even in the midsts of those same two awful attitude servers that my wife and I will gladly return to First Watch anytime - so long as Sellicia is our server. She, and she alone, is the reason for the five stars. read more

First Watch is located in the same parking lot as the new Sprouts across the street from Walmart and Starbucks. There was plenty of parking available in the lot this morning. My wife and I were seated at a large booth (we're both a bit on the... uh... chunky side, and we were both comfortable) and one of the servers met us at the table with a carafe of nice coffee. We were provided with lots of little tubs of creamer including plain half and half, French vanilla, and hazelnut flavored choices. They had delicious sounding fresh juices available but we didn't try any of those. I ordered the Croque Madame from the seasonal menu ("Smoked ham, tomato, Gruyere cheese and Dijonnaise on grilled artisan brioche. Topped with béchamel sauce, two cage-free eggs and fresh herbs."). I had my eggs fried over medium and they were perfectly cooked with runny yolks but completely set whites which most restaurants don't seem to be able to pull off. My wife ordered "The Works" omelette which she enjoyed also. Service was quick and friendly and our bill came to about $30 before tip which isn't bad for a nice brunch. I believe we visited on their second day open so we'll have to see how they handle things as business picks up. We will certainly be back to try again! read more

Ok so my friend and I was headed to Sprouts but I was like I'm so hungry... she was like let's go to First Watch.. never been but was open to trying it. Wait time was 35mins so he said he would text me when my name was called. 40mins has passed and it was time. Cheese Grits scramble eggs wheat toast with jelly and potatoes. The food was great! The service was terrible. Our server was Cynthia. She never came to check on us. Was never around to even flag down for more water. The host noticed me looking for refills and came to refill our waters. Cynthia not once came by to ask us how our food was or if we needed anything. When she finally came by she just handed me the check and that was it. No "thank you", no "how was everything", no "come back and see us"... I felt so bad for leaving the lowest % tip I have ever given someone, but didn't feel Cynthia even deserved our tip. The host did more than she did. Even the girl checking us out, never asked us how things were or even tell us to come back. Was here today. Crowded, 30 min wait, but it's Sunday. Got seated, now sat there for a good 15 mins before anyone came to the table. Not good.... Ordered the butternut squash bisque, it was cold, good, cold. Maybe it was supposed to be. Also had the chicken salad sald sandwich, which was quite tasty. Overall, pretty average. I want to love this place I really do. The coffee, fresh juices and pancakes are exceptional but the service and most other food is a big "meh". I work in a restaurant and completely understand a busy day but when we finally did get sat on our last visit it seemed like it took forever for someone to even come to our table and offer us water or coffee. Not sure if I should chalk it up to poor management or the restaurant being understaffed? The whole air of the place gave me a strange vibe... as if different parts weren't communicating properly or working in tandem. In regards to the food I'd say I REALLY enjoyed my meal maybe 50% of my visits, the other 50% I felt like I overpaid for a mediocre breakfast. I'd honestly rather dine at Panera in lieu of their lunch options at a little more than half the price. read more

This spot is hit or miss. With it being new it is not use to the Weekend breakfast crowd and the staff appears to break down under the pressure. I'm hooked. Here's is what I've had thus far: Eggs Benedict BLT - yummy take on EB - with crispy bacon. I think there was avocado too. If not, just ask. They'll put on anything you like! The generous side salad is fresh and tasty too. Next up was the lunch special, such a bargain I won't repeat the price here - b/c I don't want this location to get even more crowded! Half a ham and gruyere cheese sandwich, and a side salad with chicken, beans, corn and other awesome stuff. Too lazy to go look up the name on the menu. It's the one with chicken. The sandwich is toasted to perfection and has very good deli ham that doesn't look or taste like Kroger lunch meat. Next was the lunch special with half a club sandwich and the same salad - yeah I'll try a different salad next time. My co-diners had a) some sort of chimichanga looking thing that he said was wonderful; b) the waffle which I'm definitely getting next time; and the traditional Eggs Benedict. Loved the atmosphere and food! At the door we were told there was a 20 minute wait, but we were seated in under 5 minutes. We got the cheese grits, traditional breakfast and the biscuits and turkey gravy. I was so happy to see that the gravy was made with turkey sausage because I don't eat pork, but I love a good biscuit with gravy. The biscuit was soft and fluffy and the gravy was nice and thick. The grits were the nice yellow corn grits too- not the white hominy grits you see at Waffle House. I love this place and will definitely come back! read more

I've visited First Watch a couple of times sense it has opened. The food is always spectacular. Eggs cooked to perfection rather if they are poached, fried, or sunny side up. Atmosphere and decor is really cute. One star taken off because of slow service. There have been multiple times when seated outside that my table isn't served or forgotten. I've had to request service and the tab. This only seems to happen when I sit outside. Otherwise, portions are small enough to eat by yourself if you're really hungry or split with a friend if you're looking for something light. Tried First Watch for the first time at 11am on a Thursday morning. Although still rather busy, we got a table right away. The service was fast and friendly, the menu was interesting with standard choices as well as more unique breakfast items. I ordered the Traditional - eggs, toast, meat, and potatoes. I got scrambled with bacon - very standard. All the food was very fresh and tasty and the coffee was bold and flavorful. The bacon was 4 pieces of thick cut and cooked crispy- just the way I like it. The toast was made from thick cut artisanal bread and it was also very delicious. Overall a great meal at a great price with amazing service. I highly recommend it! read more

I have eaten here on 4 occasions and they seem to struggle with providing a consistent experience. The first time was a week after opening and the food and service were both high quality, despite how busy they were. I ordered the farmhouse scramble with over easy eggs. This good experience is probably why I have given them a number of second chances. The second time I ordered one of my favorite breakfast items, eggs benedict. The poached eggs were overcooked to where the yolks were hard. Oh well, it can happen. The 3rd and 4th times I played it safe again with the farm skillet and it was mediocre both times, but the servers let our table repeatedly run out of water and coffee. My plate today also came out with no toast and I had to ask for it. We asked our server for coffee but it was never brought. My wife ordered scrambled eggs, and what came out looked like a burnt fried egg that was chopped up after cooking. It was pitiful looking so we asked for some additional eggs which were brought out 15 minutes later after I was almost done eating. These also looked like a fried egg that was chopped up, but at least they weren't burnt. The only thing I can think of is that a busy cook let them cook too long before scrambling in the pan, but I can't imagine why they wouldn't just prescramble their eggs prior to cooking. Getting eggs right shouldn't be an issue for a breakfast place at this price point. Hope they can tighten up their food and service. read more

My wife and I had breakfast at the Decaturish First Watch today. We had also dined there several times before. We had the Italian omelet with a side salad and toast. The food was tasty; the salad of mixed greens was very nice with not too much dressing (a frequent problem at some places, but not here); and the toast was nice and thickly sliced. However, the omelet was not really hot and the eggs a bit over-cooked. The cheese in the omelet was not completely melted. This omelet was the "sandwich" kind in which the eggs are cooked, then the other ingredients are added at the end. I believe that the eggs were cooked a bit too long, and that the other ingredients were not added soon enough to heat them thoroughly. Also, the toast was not hot. In fact it evidently had not been hot when the butter (or maybe soft butter-like spread) had been applied since it was not melted at all. This restaurant has the feel of a corporate, franchise-operated place in which no one is watching the kitchen closely. It is an OK place, but it could (and should) do better. read more

The restaurant is very cute and rustic - I love the open kitchen and all the decorations! Staff was all super friendly and courteous. My friend and I got there at around 10:15, and I was surprised at how busy the restaurant got afterwards, even on a Thursday morning. The coffee came in these nice big mugs, which I thought was great. The only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five is that my Bacado (bacon avocado) omelette was pretty dry and the salad that it came with had no dressing. First Watch is OK. I've never had anything here that's blown me away, but I've never hated anything here either. There are way better brunch and breakfast spots in the area, but the easy parking here is definitely a point in its favor. If my friends didn't always push to go here for weekend brunch, I PROBABLY wouldn't have gone here again after my first time, but it's not so bad that I would kick up a fuss if it's where everyone else wants to go.
