I rarely give five stars. This is because I feel like no one is perfect and there's always room for improvement. That being said first watch deserves every bit of the praise they get in this review. We ended up going out to breakfast on the first morning of school and didn't realize how crowded it would still be at 10 AM. We had a rather large group that was turned away from another local breakfast location due to short staff and long weights. When we arrived at first watch they were more than happy to accommodate us and even adjusted a small portion of their dining room to allow our group to sit at one table. The server was super attentive and never missed a beat the entire morning. This was my first experience dining there and the food was outstanding! No one at our table had anything bad to say. The Chickichanga and the million dollar bacon were worth every penny. With a group of 11 people we tried a lot of different entrées each one came out cooked to perfection! What a great find! Here for the weekend and finding this spot was perfect. I had the Shrimp and Grits and my friend had the Eggs Benedict. We both enjoyed our meals. The Grits were yellow stone, different than what's familiar, yet still delicious. We shared a pitcher of Sangria. It wasn't strong but flavorful. I wasn't exactly sure what this place had to offer . I was somehow under the impression that the food would be similar to bar food (wings, burgers , fries etc). I think I was getting it mixed up with another establishment. Well never mind all of that because we actually enjoyed what we had . We quickly learned it was a breakfast brunch lunch spot.... mostly very healthy meals. It took us a while to get through the front and back of the menu before we ordered . Two of us ordered salads and one person had the gravy biscuit meal. I also ordered a side of seasoned potatoes because who doesn't like carbs ?!? So I tried to originally go here one weekend on a Sunday. I was expecting a wait.. it was an hour which was okay at the time. After an hour was up they end up tacking 20 mins on top of that so I left. Made it back on a Friday morning around 9am and didn't have any wait and was seated immediately. Got the holey moley donuts as an appetizer they were fresh and piping hot and served with a chocolate and berry sauce. Both combos were great. Ended up a pancake platter with breakfast and sausage and regular bacon (not the million dollar). The pancakes were HUGE, nice and fluffy. The eggs were scrambled perfectly. The bacon wasn't my fav a little to overcooked and crispy for my preference. Server was on top of it. Overall the food was great and everything else that was coming out to others looked good as well. I would for sure come back here on a weekday. Just not a weekend when its super crowded. Also, they barely have seating if you have to wait pretty small joint. Wow!! Place has gone downhill. While our server was good, the food and coffee weren't great. We ordered avocado toast, eggs sunny side up, French toast, biscuits and gravy and 2 sides of bacon. First, coffee wasn't great. Second, the avocado toast, which is my favorite, the bread was not toasted, avocado was really cold and missing the pepper flakes. The sunny side up eggs had much of the whites uncooked and we did not get our 2nd side of bacon. It was missed so we had to ask for it. Lastly, nothing came out at the same time. First meal came out; 5 mins later second meal came out and then 5 more mins later, 3rd meal came out. Not sure we'll be back. read more

Dad had surprised me this morning with our last "father/daughter" breakfast before I leave for New York and it's stay at Home orders... according to Pops, even from inception this place became an immediate crowd pleaser and weekends/holidays boast lines around the place. Settled into a shopping plaza next to a dry bar and Pilates studio, This space has a cool rustic, earthy vibe with some real crowd pleasers on the menu. Farm to table, organic and plenty of vegan options, we were off to a good start. Server was friendly and accommodating. Loss of a star due to Dad's meal arriving cold. So cold, the butter on the toast didn't even melt. Brought this to servers attention, apologies and a "I'll go get the manager"... 7-10 minutes later, Dad was still hungry, disappointed and NO MANAGER came to our table. Server did return, offered to "re-fire the breakfast" ((which I don't know if that meant re-heat or re-do?) and comp'd our entire meal. I don't live locally but after Dad's initial rave reviews... Figure it was best to place an order online thru their website. So we did $80 worth. And their website said it will be ready in 15mins. When we arrived, I sat in the car and called them to say I'm outside. While I'm outside this is my observation. Some of the waitstaffs has masks but it wasnt worn properly. Have it hanging around their chins. And the amount of ppl coming in and out of the restaurant was way more than 50% thats stated on the social distancing guideline appointed by the governor. And of course there were not much of social distancing. I called them at 30 mins mark while sitting in the car. And the order wasn't ready. 40 mins later they brought out just a 1/4 of the order. So I have to go back in to clarifies that's I ordered $80 worth of food. 1hr later the food was ready. My French toast was a 2/5. I wouldn't even call it French toast. It's lightly have eggs on it but it was soak thru. My millions bacon was $4.95 for 4 pcs. I was not impressed with the amount of what I paid to the taste and quantity of the bacons. I went to the restaurant with my wife to fort mill branch. We ordered chicken salad melt and market veggie sandwich with tomato basil soup of the day. The soup had plastic round things in it. The manager Kim Nunez saw it and acknowledged and told we put soup in bags and all. But my concern is that you cannot server plastic stuff to the consumer. Thats is totally against the health regulations as plastic is does not decompose in the body. I want this to be heard and action should be taken on this. This happened on March 17 2022. read more

This was my first time and I'm definitely satisfied and will return. I went literally when they opened (7am). I was greeted by super friendly staff and I was honestly surprised because c'mon...7am LOL. Our waiter was super nice and attentive. I believe it was the Manager that stopped by our table a couple times to make sure we were okay. Very clean and the temp was perfect. Sometimes I don't like getting water because it's already so cold in restaurants and I have to wear a jacket indoors, but this wasn't the case. I ordered the tri fecta and I got the lemon ricotta pancakes with two over medium eggs and chicken apple sausage. The chicken apple sausage didn't taste bland or frozen. It was really good. I should have ordered a second one, but decided (for once) to not be greedy. I never set high expectations when I order over medium eggs, but these were actually seasoned- much appreciated. LOL. We got introduced to this place while visiting my brother in Ohio/Kentucky. I must say, I was quite impressed with the selection of food. It is always nice when a restaurant takes the time to provide healthy and tasty choices! A location opened near us in Fort Mill and they served up the same great food and wonderful service. My go to fave is the Avocado toast with a kale tonic. Looks green and disgusting but ohhhh so gooood!!!! My hubby had the Frittata rustica. They are willing to substitute sides or even if you prefer all egg whites. The atmosphere can get a little noisy but not too bad; you are able to have a conversation without feeling like you are talking too loud. Second and last time at First Watch. Was hoping the service and food would have improved: Who likes precooked bacon or pre-made avocado toast (topping is pre-made and chilled to a flavorless state). Not to mention that we had to send two out of three ordered beverages back. Sweet tea with zero sugar: "Oops, we must have forgotten". The picture they have on their website is a lie (added here for all to see). You get a tiny 1/8- 1/4 slice/wedge of bruised avocado that they cut in half and placed on the side of the salad. I mentioned this to the waitress today and she was like, "Ohhhhh I know, you don't get that much. You can order an extra side for $1.75." Uhmmm NO! You need to add more avocado in the salad. We got on their waitlist and received a text when it was time to head to the restaurant. When we arrived, the place was packed but we were sat almost immediately since we put our name on the waitlist about an hour ahead of time. Once we were seated, the waitress came over and said she would be right with us. She came back about 3-4 minutes later ready to take our order. I got the cornbread carnitas bowl. I was a little hesitant but the waitress assured me it was delicious. It took a long time for the food to come but it was well worth the wait. It was a little on the warm/cold side but I'm giving this place 5 stars because even slightly cold, the food was amazing. Perfect smokiness, sweetness and a hint of hotness from paprika. They open to the public on Monday 5/13 at 7am but I attended their soft open today. Everything was amazing from ambiance, to the staff to the food. SO many delicious breakfast/lunch options it was hard to choose. I loved that they had a help yourself coffee station in the waiting area. Their coffee was good and they had flavored creamer which I personally love. I tried the kale tonic and it was refreshing, crisp and gently sweet. I ordered their million dollar bacon which has some heat from the cayenne pepper but is beautifully paired with the sweetness of the brown sugar and maple and savory bacony goodness. The works omelet had plump mushrooms, sausage, bacon and onions topped with a touch of sour cream. I loved the crunch whole grain toast. I will definitely be returning! Just ate here for breakfast and it was great! What a cute place! I ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes and my husband has the Italian omelette. We also order the million dollars bacon. Service was really good from the start and food came out within 15 minutes. The restaurant was pretty busy. The bacon was so delicious, but once that maple syrup on there cools down it definitely turns to glue. Pancakes were nice and moist and the lemon curd and warm syrup was such an added bonus. It was a very hearty breakfast served with toast, fruit, and jam. Things that I didn't care for: No food specials, a bit pricey, can't go anywhere for "simple" and inexpensive breakfast anymore. We come here every week to eat. So, so good! You can go healthy and organic or downright naughty. My favorite is the pressed juice, chia seed pudding w peanut butter toast. OMG! You can also get crazy good bacon, pancakes and all the other bad stuff. I also love that this restaurant opened with a donation of almost $4k to the Community Cafe which gives free meals to people locally. Way to go Firstwatch!
