Second time is the charm! That's because this was my second visit to First Watch. Following a morning hike in the area, my hiking buddy and I stopped by for breakfast a couple weeks ago. The wait was longer than we would've liked so we left. Today (also following a hike) we stopped by again. But this time, we used an app to get on their waiting list, so we were seated fairly quickly. My buddy lives nearby and he recommended First Watch from previous experience. He made a great call! Plus, I could tell I wanted to come back after the failed first visit. Any place that consistently has wait times like this must be good. First Watch has a great atmosphere that feels perfect for their menu. And there is a nice patio which several people were enjoying, despite it being over 90 degrees outside. Plus, the employees are very friendly and we received some really good service from our waitress. As if that wasn't enough, the kitchen was really hopping today! There are lots of breakfast joints in the valley. This one really stands out because our food was hot and fresh and the prices are reasonable. We were seated and waited about 10 minutes for our server to come greet us. I understand that it's a Sunday and brunch time is busy. Our waitress didn't check on us during our 45 minute wait for food other than bringing our coffee. We had to ask other servers to bring miscellaneous items (creamer, syrup) because ours was inattentive. I'm not asking to be treated like a princess but a "sorry for the wait" maybe once while we were waiting for our food would have been nice. The food was definitely tasty, but the wait for it and staff made this visit absolutely not worth it. The skillets are delicious, but our Belgian waffle came out cold because of just how long we had to wait. If you're in a rush and like good service, don't go here. If you don't mind the previously stated, get the skillet. read more

I live near central Phoenix but had to make my way over to this area today and decided to go here for a quick bite to eat with my son. Everything was on point from the service to the food. I brought my mom here for brunch on her birthday. The service was wonderful. Friendly staff all around and wonderful food and drinks. I got salmon toast. It was delicious as well as the refreshing drink I got. It had ginger orange juice and beat juice. Who knew that would be such a great way to start our day. Food was great and service was great. But the place was just so cute too. I loved being there. It was quiet enough to have a great conversation. I am definitely planning to come more often. We just moved around the corner and I am excited to take my husband on a breakfast date. I can't wait for my next meal there! read more

Great food. Poor service. Once our food was served, we never heard from our server again. We rand out of drinks within the first few minutes of eating. Several servers walked at and never asked if we needed anything. We noticed that every other guest table had a glass thing of water in addition to whatever other drink they ordered... we didn't. So we got to eat our entire meal with no drink. Then, when a server finally came up to us, I was hoping to ask how we were doing, she instead threw out bill on our table while spinning to take the order of the people next to us. Had breakfast here today. Our server was great. The house made preserves seemed more like Jelly to me. Why do they advertise housemade preserves when I can clearly see a smuckers dispenser in the kitchen? Bread seemed old. Could not eat crust, it was too hard. Formerly The Good Egg. Was always one of my favorite places, and still is. We visit the Speedway location a few times each month. The staff are super friendly and are always hard working and attentive. Our order is typically correct, and on the few occasions when it is not, our server has taken care of it immediately. I usually order the avocado toast or the BLT Benedict, and my partner gets the breakfast tacos or bacado. I've tried all the specialty beverages and they are all delicious! I do miss the Day Glo, and hope it comes back one day! read more

What a great breakfast spot! It is recently remodeled so it has a rustic modern look. Beautiful atmosphere and the presentation of the food is great! Makes its feel more cozy and a great spot to hang out and enjoy a hot cup of coffee and breakfast. It does tend to get busy but I have never had to wait long. I went in today with my fiancé' s mother. She got the avocado toast and I got the protein quinoa bowl. Her toast was delicious, healthy and just the right portion. I didn't care for my protein bowl but the server asked if I would like to switch it out. I switched it out for the energy bowl which was granola, fruit, and Greek yogurt. It's was amazing! The option to reserve early through Yelp came in handy for my party of 4 on a typically crazy Sunday morning. Not much to say, Happy Valley First Watch usually always delivers in service and hospitality, the early check-in made our experience all the more worth while. Avocado toast is delicious here! Sometimes, restaurants try to do fancy things with avocado toast and go over board. I love the simplicity of First Watch's and I could have it for breakfast every single day. Service was wonderful. My only complaint is that there is no music playing outside. It was awkwardly quiet at the tables around us and you feel like everyone can hear your conversation and vice versa. I am easily distracted when I can hear the server do her entire greeting and take other tables orders (I served for 14 years so I can't help it lol). I also didn't like having to go up to the front to pay, especially as the front area isn't incredibly big and I could see it getting crowded on busy mornings. People do not like waiting that long when they want to leave. read more

Not really impressed with this visit. Long story short: good food, terrible service. I don't think I will be returning to this location. Me and my family came for Sunday brunch, it was busy, as to be expected. Once we were sat it took awhile for us to be helped. I think they may have been short staffed, or that is how it felt. Our waitress was very enthusiastic and asked if we had been helped, then proceeded to take our orders. My friend and myself both ordered cold brews, which tasted watered down and had white chunks floating in the bottom. Once we finally caught the attention of the waitress she seemed frustrated that we asked for hot coffee instead and muttered under her breath that that was normal. Coffee grounds I could see as normal, but white chunks...debatable. When we received our food it was hot and very tasty, which is why I am giving two stars. My moms friend had a sandwich "melt", which was not melted but we didn't bother sending it back because the waitress already seemed flustered and we couldn't find her. We asked for the check, and the cold brews were not taken off of our order which she told us that she would leave them on. When I went to the front register I asked if there was a price difference between the hot coffee and the cold brew, there was but I didn't bother to make them go through the check since there was a line. read more

First time at First Watch exceeded my expectations. Had to wait a bit before getting seated, which was no big deal for two reasons 1. When places have a wait or a line, you KNOW it's good and 2. I had great company to pass the time. Score! Once we got seated, Cassie came over and was absolutely phenomenal! She recommended a bunch of items on the menu, and although all the items sounded mouth-wateringly delicious and amazing, I opted to get The Elevated Egg Sammy -- with a side of Pumpkin Pancakes. Super yum! Food came out fairly quickly (although I'm not sure how long it really was -- I was too caught up in great conversation), and Cassie was so incredibly on point, coming to check on us, refilling water, letting us know our food was almost ready. ***Special "Thanks" to Cassie, btw! She definitely made the experience so much better, such a beautiful girl with an amazing personality, kind, caring, and she went above and beyond and truly took care of us... Thank you again, Cassie! And the country-style potatoes... goodness, they tasted like grandma just made you the most amazing, tasty home-made potatoes on an old-school cast iron skillet (let's face it guys, grandmas are the BEST cooks ever!) I highly recommend getting this breakfast sandwich; you won't be sorry, and your tastebuds will jump for joy with excitement. The Pumpkin Pancakes... Simply decadent! I ordered two (you can choose one, two, or three) light and pillow-like fluffy pancakes. They had the perfect amount of pumpkin flavor, not too overbearing or in your face pumpkiny-ness. Super yummy! I ate half of them (can you tell I was hungry) and then brought the rest home... Cuz pancakes for dinner? Yes, please! I love First Watch for their great menu choices and the quality of their food. I began going to First Watch in 1998 and I have always had a great experience. My first time at Happey Valley location was today and the water was tap water, served in a bottle without ice. It tasted awful. My food was good but the sour cream the Chef put on the omelet was less than a dabble! I asked for more and they brought it which was fine. I would say they should seve filtered water and ice and should at least give a dollop of sour cream. read more

This was my first time here. I've heard about this place and how good they were. So, I had to see for myself. I ordered the power wrap. It was delicious. I wasn't a fan of the mushrooms in the wrap, but I'm just not a fan of them things anyways. The salsa tasted fresh and it was delicious on the wrap. I also got to sample their day glow juice and make tonic. Both were really good. The kale tonic was sweeter than I would like but it was still good. We love coming here. They are near our church and have an app that allow us to check in before we get there. Food is always great - generous portions and nice traditional and seasonal breakfast options. Why a three star? Their cups smell like egg! Coffee cups and water cups in total 4 cups. So I asked the manager if the washer was broken and she kindly assured me it was not and promptly replaced our cups. When she brought us our new cups I smelled them and although they weren't as pungent as the first set they were clearly still bacteria laden. Very sad to say, but just skip this one. Tried several times, hoping my experience was a "one time thing". But it wasn't. Quality varies so much between locations of this franchise that it is just too bad. Omelet with bacon and avocado: eggs were overcooked and tough, avocado was brown, and bacon was fine, but a part of something that just didn't do it. Toast had been sitting and so was not crisp an tasty. My wife got bacon and eggs, which was fine, but how can one mess up that, if the bacon is already good.
