I've been to First Watch many times and while I truly love their menu and the vast food offering, today I was disappointed. Onto to good things, got in at 930 am and no wait, which was wonderful. Our waiter, can't remember his name, was great. Very attentive and pleasant. The food was as usual very good, which is why I keep coming back. My friend had the oatmeal which was so tasty and had an incredible presentation. I ordered the eggs Benedict, which were very tasty. Now onto the low points of my visit. I ordered coffee and when I took the flatware out of the napkin I noticed my spoon was dirty. There was some dry food on it. I asked for a second set of flatware which I thought would be clean. I proceed to stir my coffee and to my surprise and disappointment this spoon was also dirty, and now had a film of left over greens on top of my coffee and in the spoon. I asked the waiter to give me a new set of silverware and a new coffee and as I mentioned before he was very pleasant and he was apologetic for the issues. As for the eggs in my Benedict they were very small and looked like half the egg was missing, no biggie as they were tasty. Hopefully the staff is more careful with the cleanliness of utensils, if they were to improve on that, I would gladly update my review and provide a higher rating. read more

Tried out First Watch for the first time yesterday. Super glad I did. We arrived with our appetites in tow, and were greeted with a smile from the hostess. She quickly found us a table, and our waitress was there in a flash, getting our drink orders. I went out of my "breakfast comfort zone" (aka: scrambled eggs, bacon and hash browns) and ordered the avocado toast, with basted eggs. I found out later basted is a cross between a fried egg and a poached egg. Either way, I love them! As a side, my husband I spoke the million-dollar bacon. Now, bacon is bacon, and it's always yummy. But this million dollar bacon blew my taste buds out of the water! And even made my four year old try (and enjoy!) it. My husband ordered the Huevos Rancheros tostadas, and he raved about them. He also liked that when you order hot coffee, you get a carafe placed at the table. The service was also wonderful, our waitress came back frequently to check on us, and I told how happy we were, and this was our first time visiting, and she said she hoped to see us again, which YES! About 5 min after I got my food, got so upset I poured my drink in my food and put my baking on the food. 90% was still there. There server was like, "you made short work or that". Let's start this review by stating in my mind I'm comparing this restaurant to Florida Cracker as far as menu choices and ambiance. The restaurant was moderately busy with just a few empty tables available. Outside seating on a nice day would be a pleasant experience at this location. The decor inside was nice and the seating standard for this type of breakfast brunch venue. Onto my food review, my son ordered a chocolate chip pancake & bacon. Loved it! Finished every bit of it. Kid approved for sure. I ordered the work's omelette with home fries and toast. My omelette was very tasty. With fresh ingredients and adequate portions. I'm knocking the small amount of condiments they give on the side as well as missing a portion of my order until I was done with my breakfast and actually headed to pay my bill. I ordered a cinnamon roll to share with my son and my waiter never gave us an update as to why it didn't come out with our dishes. Also our waiter only came to update us after seeing we were completely done with breakfast and requesting the check. At that time I was told that the cinnamon roll was coming and the kitchen needed a few more things to complete the dish. (Needless to say I needed up taking it home) Service could definitely stand to be better but I feel the selections are plentiful and stopping by for a bite on the way to the beach is warranted. read more

This is my second visit at this location. The food is good but it never really comes out hot. My husband ordered The Works omelette and the vegetables were cold. Funny thing is the eggs were hot. Very strange. The homemade bread was very good but that was also cold. I ordered the SKillet Hash Market. It had a mix of zucchini, mushrooms and peppers with goat cheese. It was excellent! I just wish the food was hot when it came out. My toast was also cold. When our waitress asked if everything was ok I could not resist telling her my husband's food was cold. She said she would speak to the manager. The manager came right over and offered to make my husband a new omelette and a fresh order of toast. The second dish came out hot and it was very good. He also took the omelette off our check for the inconvenience. I thought that was very nice and exemplified great customer service. I don't know why this place has negative reviews because it's honestly one of my favorite places for breakfast at the beaches. We never have a problem getting seated (either with children or with a dog) but we usually check in via waitlist on Yelp. Service is ALWAYS on point! With a 1 year old with an egg allergy, I never thought it would be so difficult to ensure she has safe options to eat! They came out with a specific list of menu items and what common allergic ingredients it contains (so I could rule out entire entrees or remove certain items)! They ensured her station was prepped separately. These little things make a mama happy. We always get consistently tasty food. Sometimes the eggs aren't as perfectly runny on an over medium, but I am forgiving bc everything is always still seasoned well and my potatoes are just right. Yes, it's a chain. Yes, it sides on more "healthier options" so you won't get chicken and waffles or anything too greasy, but tell me the million dollar bacon isn't good. Our server was great, really sweet girl. Our coffee was not good (which is a rare occurrence at first watch) and we told our server and she was great and took it off the bill. But an old skinny woman with bright blue eye makeup on approached our table completely out of the blue after we'd already had the coffee mishap resolved. She aggressively came up and put her hand on her hip and said "what's wrong?" And when we told her, she blamed the coffee taste on the fact that the ice melted and when we disagreed with her she rolled her eyes and took the coffees and walked away. First time customer and I wasn't disappointed by anything, which is unusual today. Coffee was very flavorful with very little bitter aftertaste. Eggs were cooked correctly. I had a "hash" or skillet breakfast and other than a bit too much pickled red pepper it was amazing. Heated through, fresh, not greasy, and get this....it was all seasoned!!! Came with an unexpected jam for toast and small fruit cup with actual ripened/fresh fruit. Wife had French toast. Two large pieces of bread cooked perfectly with a hint of vanilla. In all, a great experience with pleasant and attentive staff, well prepared and seasoned food, and the same price you'd spend at a iHop or other similar breakfast restaurant. My faith has been restored in First Watch. Went for the pancakes this time - bacon & cheddar - and was pleasantly surprised. While I made a valiant effort at my stack of two, they weren't kidding (on the menu) when they said they were humungous. I could have ordered just one and been more than satisfied. There was crispy flavorful bacon in every bite. Only wished there was a little more cheddar as that flavor didn't come through as well. Good but could have been better if tomato and spinach had been roasted or sautéed instead of raw. I've had better hollandaise sauce but decent. I did enjoy the fresh mixed greens it came with. Nice light flavorful dressing. I also had some of my mother's Tri-Athlete egg white omelette. Good but more flavoring could have brought it to the next level. When my friend ask were to eat breakfast usually Lester's however, we where going to the other end of town. So I suggested First Watch she said ok lets try something new. After an hour wait got a sit. The coffee was hot and good. Looked over the menu and my friend was impressed with the variety we both ordered. I think they mix the order of eggs as I like them running and she likes them harder so we exchanged. I order the carrot and pecan pancake great taste but over cooked and the waffles were also over cooked. For the coffee worth another trip. read more

First off, let me start out by saying, I've ordered from first watch on countless occasions. Especially from this location, through DoorDash. Today, I felt like eating at the restaurant to get out of my office because it's gorgeous outside. I work with a great deal of cancer patients and honestly, it's my physically and mentally stressful. I just wanted to have a good lunch, ok? Well that didn't happen here. I wanted almost an hour for my meal. I specifically told my server IM ALLERGIC TO AVOCADO please make sure there isn't any. There was. The restaurant wasn't busy. I just don't understand why my service wasn't up to par. It made me feel really insecure about eating there in general, as if my presence wasn't welcomed. So I took it to go even though I really didn't even want it at the end of the day, but I hadn't eaten all day so there's that. This review rating is 100% about their line waiting system. The food is incredible. The No matter what you get it's the best tasting, freshest version of that food you have ever had. No doubt an experience like that is going to gain you popularity. Restaurant is always clean and the atmosphere is incredible. However- this "down load the app and wait in line" system is complete GARBAGE. I came here with my family and put my name on the list. We sat. For 25 minutes while people sitting around us were seated and people just kept coming in the door and were seated before us. When I approached the hostess to see if perhaps we were forgotten I was informed there were still 10 people ahead of me and the wait was another 40 min. Had I been told that upfront I wouldn't have waited. My time is very valuable and I don't appreciate it being wasted by ANYONE. I'm offering a common sense solution to this obviously flawed system- you need to show consideration for people that drive to your restaurant and physically SIT there waiting for a table. If you want people to use an app then great but you need to allow one party waiting in between app users instead of having them wait unreasonable amounts of time. Then I decided to have positive intent, and ordered my food. Got the salmon Benedict with avocado spread on the toast. The servers are friendly, but It takes a long time to get get service after you're seated and over 45 minutes get food after you order. Now this little gem completely took me by surprise because I honestly wasn't expecting it to be all that good. When I lived over in Mandarin there was one I would walk by all the time but it always looked empty or closed. I assumed it wasn't anywhere people wanted to be. And maybe I'm right (or wrong) about the Mandarin location, but the First Watch beach location is definitely popular. And with good reason; THE food is soooooooo good! I'm always a fan of corned beef hash done right. And I am a true corned beef hash lover (my grandma used to make it with the canned corn beef and it was DELICIOUS) but having REAL corned beef chunks of meat with thick chunks of potatoes, in that dark gravy and bell peppers and onions? Lord, be a fence! My tastebuds were assaulted. In a thoroughly pleasant way. It was tender, it was juicy, it was filling, it was rich with flavor. (Insert prayer hands emoji here) Yes Lord! I'm honestly emotional right now thinking about that first bite. Now I wasn't the biggest fan of the multigrain toast but it was good along with the fresh fruit and raspberry/strawberry jam along with it. And you know the place is good because it closes at like 3.
