I am visiting from Los Angeles. Born and raised here in Dayton so I have been to many places for breakfast but this was my first time at first watch. Everything was perfect but if I could make one recommendation is that instead of mini individual packaged single serving creamer for the coffee...first watch should serve creamer in a normal pouring thingy like bob Evans does. read more

Asked fore a new one and she went back to get one came out helped 4 other tables and cleaned one and asked for that glass and she walked by me like I was not there. The food tastes fairly good and the service is decent, but the dishes are consistently filthy. I ordered the Energy Bowl and the description is as follows: "Your choice of our housemade granola or Muesli cereal of oats, sliced almonds, pecans, Craisins, wheat germ and raisins. Topped with fresh fruit and a touch of cinnamon. Served with low-fat organic yogurt." No where does it mention 'fingerprints and lipstick' in what is included. The yogurt comes in a white cup on the side and everything else is in a creak glass bowl. The last time I went, I ordered the same thing and there was a hair in the dish and the bowl was filthy, all the server did was pull out the hair and dump my food into a dirtier glass bowl. Today, many months after the last time I went (hoping that the renovations and pasted time may have made a difference), I received my food and dried food flecks littered the outside of the white bowl, the clear glass dish was covered in yogurt smudges (keep in mind that only dry goods are served in the bowl when it arrives at your table), and there was lipstick all over the edge of my water glass. No matter how good the food tastes, I don't want to be eating that food off of the smudged remains of someone else's meal. This is a consistent problem. Filth is not appetizing. read more

Modern and nice looking restaurant with fast service for about $10 per person including a drink. The kitchen is "open" so there is no funny business going on in there. The food handlers and chefs even wear gloves. A very good place to start the day off right. read more

Waitress said they didn't have anything gluten free, I would have to know what I could order... Horrible experience: spilled lemonade on my husband's glasses and phone when putting drink on the table, table & coffee cup wet when we sat down, food took forever, hair on omelet, water pitchers dirty inside, waitress' shirt was filthy with food smeared on it, didn't bring everyone's food out together. The dining area and restrooms were cleaned. The waitress was friendly but she forgot to bring some of the food items that were supposed to be in our order. The omelet with chorizo that I ordered hardly had any chorizo and the onions in the egg were sliced big and were hard, so I needed to cut the omelet with a knife. My omelet hardly had any ingredients in it. It tasted like a regular plain scramble egg. My husband's omelet was served with a slice bread under the egg which wasn't too appetizing. He was expecting some fresh toast. He also had to remind the waitress that he didn't get his complete order. They had forgotten one of the sides. Our omelet order came with burned potatoes. The waitress claimed that is the way they make them. We requested for a second order of potatoes and she did deliver our new order and they were not burned. My brother-in-law didn't get his orange juice until about 1/2 an hour later after our meal had been served. It was a disappointment. We had heard good things about the restaurant. Would we go back? At this point, I don't know. We don't live in Centerville but we do go visit my sister often. Maybe we will try it one more time. We believe in second chances. Very disappointed with our whole experience. We had an hour wait for a table, which is fine for Sunday breakfast, except that the table we ended up sitting at was empty for 20 minutes before they sat us. After being seated we got coffee right away but sat for 10 minutes before our order was taken. Then it took half an hour to get our food which is a really long time for a breakfast place. The worst part was that they had dirty glasses on the table. They obviously just gave the glasses a hot rinse but they still had finger prints on them and smudges and were wet. We were not the only table asking for new cups. Our coffee cup was sticky. Food was ok. Not necessarily worth all that wait and dirty glasses. read more

It is hard to find breakfast/brunch spots around here that are not all cardio disease on a plate or quite frankly equal to or less than you can fix at home, so First Watch is a welcome relief to the otherwise dismal b/b scene (saving Butter and Christophers). Some really fun menu options. Enough of the basics to keep the super conservative eaters satisfied but plenty of fun stuff for those of us that revel in food diversity. The front small section of the dining area is loud. The rest of the dining area is better, noise wise. Not a fancy place but not a dive, just a good place to grab some good grub, if you have the time to wait. Service has generally been good to great. Place is always clean, well as clean as it can be when there are we ones dropping food and stuff... the staff does a great job and managing it. read more

This is the second time I visit to this First Watch in Kettering Ohio. A week ago, they used the heel of the loaf to make my French toast. I told my server and she said they weren't supposed to do that, then had another serving with all the fruit toppings made for me to go. Yesterday I ordered a waffle and side of fruit with their maple bacon. The waffle was so underdone I had to tear it I pieces. I could not successfully use the knife. The bacon was so undercooked, sticky and greasy, it was limp and stuck to the plate. In the fruit bowl, the melon was warm, the strawberries old, and contained lots of old shriveled grapes. I told the server. She brought me another bowl of even warmer, this time spoiled smelling fruit. Strawberries old, soft, dehydrating and turning a dark color. I asked my server to please return them and just credit the fruit on my bill. Since the bill was now still $15.00, I was not happy with this ill prepared breakfast. So upon checking out, I asked for the manager, told him all the above. He said he was sorry and nicely comped my entire meal. I gave this place 2 stars only because he did not charge me. However it shouldn't be so hard to go out for breakfast! After badly prepared meals, I will never go back to First Watch. I did however tip my server well. None of it was her fault. read more

This is an amazing restaurant!! They may always be on a wait especially on sundays but that must say something great about them. And they always let you know what's going on. I have eaten at First Watch before and the food was good and the staff friendly. My visit yesterday was a different story. Our waitress was hurried and not attentive. Asked for a little time to look at the menu and she was gone for 15 minutes. Another waitress brought food. We had asked first waitress for sugar-free syrup which she didn't bring. Had to go to the counter ourselves to get it. Food was good, as usual. After we were nearly done eating, our original waitress finally returned - and with a bottle of sugar- free syrup! Waitress never left our bill, so we had to ask for it at the counter when we left. Good food, good atmosphere, but wait staff can be spotty. They seem more friendly and attentive to regulars. I've had much better experiences at Waffle House and Bob Evans. read more

I have eaten at First Watch on several occasions,. Although the service is normally slower than most, I figured since I have a 1/2 hour lunch break I could order to go, pick it up etc. Was told it would be 10 minutes. 25 minutes later no food. I told them I had to get back to work. They handed me my money back so guess who did not have lunch. Poor management! The server felt terrible. They offered me a drink. Excuse me! I should have been offered a future meal. Guess who will not be going back there. Guess who will tell everyone of the treatment. read more

After finding dirty table and dishes with dried on food that should have been the first clue. The experience was gross. Cold food and our take out had MOLD on food. Managers just wanted to refund and said that health department can't touch them. With their arrogance of this health department got our pictures and statement. This Kettering location needs a wake up call and needs shut down before someone get sick. They need to be trained in food prep and cleanliness. This place is going down hill.
